6 reviews for Poppy Seed Cafe
Breakfast is mostly scrambles with the standard carbs. On a slow morning they will honor an off menu item; mine was a basic omlett. The food and staff were great.
The tables mostly seat 4 but can be pushed together. It's a small place, very comfortable for a lazy Sunday breakfast.
The Poppy Seed used to be the Spring Lake Cafe and we LOVED it. IT was the best breakfast in town. This iteration is fine if you want a good predictable breakfast.
Hi, my name is Aimee and I am a chicken fried steak-aholic. Phew, now that is out of the way!
I will be honest, I judge a restaurant on this meal. If it isn't good, chances are I will never go back. Chicken fried steak needs to hit certain criteria.
1) It can never look like pre-formed meat just dropped in a fryer.
2) It needs to have a nice, thin crunchy coating with NO sogginess.
3) It has to have a substantial amount of meat over breading.
4) Homemade sausage gravy is a necessity!
My only suggestion would be that they roast and not deep fry the potatoes. I am not too keen on "cubed french fries". The eggs have always been cooked to perfection and they have really yummy rye toast.
So far, Poppy Seed Cafe has delivered. Service has always been top notch. Granted, my first visit with a friend, we were 2 of 4 people in there and the only people there on the second visit. I don't know if we are showing up before or after the crowds, or if they always slow.
I hope to make it in soon to try out their lunch menu. For those of us church folk looking to avoid a long wait to have breakfast, this might just be the place. They are open on Sundays.
Cute! This is cute little storefront cafe.
With the kiddos in school and the husbands at work a friend and I were in search of a good breakfast. Poppy Seed cafe delivered. I ordered the Bunch Breakfast Sandwich, and was impressed.
Many other menu items caught my eye, so I will be back soon.
Unfortunately, the Poppyseed has been sold to new owners and today we experienced it first hand.
After we were seated, it took almost 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Pancakes and a poached egg were delivered to me with no syrup or butter. I don't use butter, but I did ask twice for syrup.
My husband had the cafe scramble, said it was good, but the wait made everything else anticlimactic.
This WAS our favorite breakfast spot until today.
It's just a little store front but the sandwiches are really good and huge. I kept thinking I should have a salad, and they looked wonderful, but couldn't pass up the turkey and cranberry sandwich. They also have breakfast which will be my next adventure.
Okay, I finally tried something different than that barbecue salad: the cheeseburger. It's a little jazzier than most--served on ciabatta bread instead of a bun, and the patty's shaped in a square--and it is fantastic. Juicy, flavorful... yum. I save cheeseburgers as a 4-time-per-year luxury, and this was definitely worth the wait. The home-cut fries with skins tasted great although a little on the flaccid side. A great lunch!

I've had lunch here a couple times and always order the same thing: the barbecue chicken salad.… Read more »
