Being a good son, I usually indulge dad's cravings. In this case, Popeyes chicken, in the heart of a sketch part of town. Even he was suspicious of the frying oil used for the fried chicken. I played it semi-safe and got a jambalaya bowl, which was some kind of edible rice mush.

The full experience: bulletproof glass protecting the entire counter from chicken bandits, loitering paranoid gangster on a cell phone telling his homie that he's in the wrong part of town, disabled soda dispenser in the dining area (gee, what a shocker), a cashier who puts down $18 cash tendered on the receipt when we gave a $20 (you figure that out), and an idiot gangster's name carved ON the toilet seat (which is a coin operated bathroom, by the way). Props to the brave citizens who put up with all this and dine here.

What, you may ask, were we doing here in the first place? There are certainly other less scary Popeyes branches, right? Well, we just happened to be in the Hood... No, we're not coming back. Ever.

Hmmm... first to review. Ha. Of course.
