Who knew this gem was in my backyard? It took our friends from Nor Cal to introduce us to this "farmers market started" brand.

Let me say I have no idea how it tastes so good AND doesn't use corn syrup!

I've only tried the pecan brittle because if I get started on the other flavors my wife won't get to try any of it!

I bought a pound of p.o.p candy just for myself, minus maybe an ounce or two MAX that I was willing to share. Sorry friends, you can buy your own.

The owner couple is nice and sweet. I've met them a couple of times at different food events like Unique LA. It helps knowing that a lot of love is put into these yummy (but gluten-free) treats.

The thyme and walnut is my all time favorite! I also got the variety pack which contains 3 other diff flavors. I wish they could include thyme & walnut as part of a variety pack though.

If you live near Culver City (or are willing to drive there), you can place your order online and request to pick it up at their kitchen location at Platine Cookies. My order was ready for me within a day. YAY go pop!

Pop Candy's pecan brittle is like toffee-coated crack.  It's the most buttery, crunchy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. You can really taste the freshness of their ingredients, and it's sweet without leaving you with a toothache.  Buy some and try it now.  If by some off chance you don't like it - no problem.  Just send it to me!

POP candy is amazing and magical.  I buy that little bag (trying to display some self-control), open it - then puff - it disappears.  Where does it go???  That stuff is so good, I have a hard time NOT eating it.

It is crunchy but not too hard.  It's sweet but not that overly sweetness from HFCS.  It has wonderful flavor mixes.   I have tried many of their favors including:

The newest, no-nut flavor made with sunflower and pumpkin seeds, has fennel and orange peel.  Yum!

Rosemary Almond - the flavor varies based on the time of year.  The rosemary favor can be overwhelming.  The package I purchased this past Saturday was perfect.

Fire pistachio had a red pepper finish.   But not too hot.

My favorite is the Thyme, walnuts and cherries.  Savory, sweet, chewy and nutty.  Wonderful

It's available at the Torrance Farmer's Market on Saturdays 8 am to 1 pm.  They are generous with the samples.

I'm not a huge "candy" person, per se.  I prefer those calories to go towards delicious baked goods and ice cream.  But my boyfriend brought me home two bags of p.o.p. from a food festival of sorts, and I wasn't about to give him the ol' "You KNOOOOW I don't like candy!" routine when he was just being nice.

    So I ate it.

    And I ate it.

And then it was done and I wanted more.  Immediately.

This stuff is delicious.  They're reinventing candy here, I really believe it.  I never realized how necessary it was to have butter crunch with thyme, walnuts, and cherries in my life!!!

These guys really make an effort to do candy right.  The butter crunch is made in small batches, no high fructose corn syrup, and they try to be as local and organic as possible.  Really, what more could you ask for from a piece of candy?  Perhaps dancing on command would be nice, or cleaning my bathroom, but I'm just throwing out suggestions...no pressure.

The negative is they're not easily available.  This is in part my fault for being lazy and not heading out to farmer's markets on a regular basis, but it would be so lovely if they had a storefront.

    O M G!!

Found these at a Southern California farmers market recently where I sampled a bit of the butter crunch candy and instantly fell in love.

I love both the almond and pistachio varieties. They also have other nut varieties. The candies are made from butter, sugar and organic brown rice syrup. That's all! The friendly lady suggested I consume these within two weeks, but the little bags didn't last two hours!

Now I've been having one of my girlfriends buying them for me and shipping them up to me until I can visit L.A. again. They're available online also, but I like to believe my girl gets them cheaper for me.

SO DELICIOUS & AMAZING! It's nut brittle or toffee but without the guilt & without the corn syrup. LOVE the P.O.P. mix: almonds, pecans, pistachios & cashews. If you like a little heat, the fire pistachio is the way to go: first bite = sweet smoothness then as you chew the warmth starts to creep in. It's a little disconcerting at first, but it's all fun in your mouth! Had some at the Downtown Art Walk, $3.75 for a two-ounce package *yum*

While browsing around at the Torrance Farmer's Market, I walked right by this booth because of the crowd around it.  After my once around, I had to head back to where all the commotion was.  Thank goodness the crowd had died down so I could try some brittle!

My boyfriend loved the chai tea granola pecan bar while my mouth was watering over the Rosemary Almond.  My second fave is their nut mix of cashews, almonds, pistachios and pecans.  I'm not really a connoisseur of brittle... but the fresh, non-traditional ingredients had me buying a bag of each.  Delicious!  So hard to keep my hands out of those bags from eating it all...

Since all the brittle is gone, I really need to head back to the Farmer's Market and pick some more up!

THEE best brittle hands down.  I dare you to find other-wise.  The owners are sweet as can be and you can tell they genuinely love doing what they do.  My favs: almond and rosemary almond.  The latter being just delicately hinted with rosemary and the nuts are roasted to a crunchy perfection.

You can't go to the store, but have to order on-line.  They have a bunch of stores that carry their product as well as farmer's markets around LA.  Its worth buying it on my shameless endorsement.  I trust me!  :)

    From the site:
It's handmade in small batches and delivered fresh from Santa Monica, California. Our ingredients are simple and clean: butter, sugar, your nut of choice, and a touch of light corn syrup.

p.o.p. candy is one of my favorite sins. I first found them at the farmer's market and Bill and Rachel being among the friendliest people in the world, we fast became friends. Maybe the only time I've gotten my dad out to a farmer's market was to meet these two sweets purveyors at this farmer's market which is small but packed with a great variety of stands.

If you are a fan of English toffee, butter crunch, peanut brittle or anything in between it's worth a stop at their stand to see what happens when you combine local herbs with butter, sugar and nuts. Or maybe you can picture it already.

They make everything in very small pans (not just small batches, small pans!) just a few miles from the market.

The first time I tried POP Candy was at Unique LA and it changed my life.

I'm not a huge fan of brittle. POP Candy does it RIGHT! My favorite is the Rosemary Almond; with just a right amount of sweetness and a hint of rosemary.

POP Candy is a MUST TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's great for gifts or a treat for yourself.

One word: Exquisite. That's P.O.P. Candy. I gave it five stars because there isn't a choice for infinity! Seriously, folks, this candy is the absolute best butter-crunch treat in the world. It's lighter than traditional toffee, it's crunchy, it's buttery, and the flavors gently sweep across your palate. I'm in love with P.O.P Candy! My mom loves it, my husband loves it, my son asks for it by name, actually, he insists on it. My favorite is the Rosemary Almond, while my mom loves the Fire Pistachio, my son loves the Almond Butter Crunch, and my husband loves all the flavors. The owners, who are really nice people, are committed to quality and it shows in their top-notch Butter Crunch products.

I was walking around the Mar Vista's Farmer's Market and stumbled upon this booth.  They offer amazing varieties of toffee.  My favorite is the pistachio toffee, it's really good.  They can also custom wrap it for your next event.  I just ordered some for a bridal shower that I am throwing, super cute wrapping.

You can savor delicious-ness with each bite! The ingredients are of the highest quality and always fresh. I love buying Pop Candy for my out of town visitors. The cute packaging adds a special touch and some of them have been compelled to seek it out online when they return home!

Pop Candy also adds the perfect touch to your healthier foods - chop it up and add it to a spinach salad with goat cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette! Or crumble a little over yogurt for some sweet crunch!

This stuff is unbelievable!  So good, so freakin GOOD!

Artisan candy made by people who really care.  You can taste the quality as it melts in your mouth.

I usually have it for dessert after having my morning fresh squeezed O.J. and an omelete at the Mar Vista Farmers' Market which is one HAPPENIN place!
