Magnifico! I had the angel hair with bay shrimp. I asked for spicy and they offered me levels 1-5 in order to make it just right. I shouldn't have consumed the whole thing in one sitting, but I did. I couldn't help it! My dining companion had the fettuccine con polo (chicken) and had the same tastebud-gasm and difficulty not licking his plate. The spinach oil that arrives with the bread is equally delish.

We were served small cups of sherbet prior to our entree, which was possibly because they felt our meal took longer than expected. We didn't think that, but we gratefully accepted the treat.

My only complaint was how saturated my mista salad was with the house dressing. I will ask for dressing on the side next time. There will definitely be a next time and it won't come too soon!

I love this place and, next time, I will go there in no hurry whatsoever and not ravenously starving.

We decided to try Pomodoro at the recommendation of some friends that have been going there for years. Apparently they are open late and are a great late-dinner option. We, however, just went there for a weekday dinner. We had reservations at 7 p.m., didn't get seated until 7:15 p.m. and I didn't have a cocktail in my hand or bread in my mouth until 7:45 p.m. This normally would be the deal-breaker for any restaurant but the food was so good and the service so charming that I would go back regardless.

The food. Yum. The owner of the restaurant has cooked for Bill Clinton, or so the menu said, and, if it is good enough for Bubba, it is good enough for me. The food was full of flavor and I was scooting in my seat it was so good. I especially loved the whole mushroom appetizer, the pork belly that was on special, the bananas foster and... well, everything I tried. Excellent Italian food.

The service was indeed s-l-o-w but, once it wasn't so busy, they more than made up for it. The kitchen was fun to watch, the foster table-side presentation was fantastic and the staff was all friendly and low-key.

And did I mention their fun interior? Very funky, 70's-ish lights and it was very dimly lit and romantic.

Overall, I had a good experience, so I give it a 4 stars.

First, a very big plus is there's parking. I wasn't expecting any parking with this restaurant, and I was just expecting to park on the street, and I was surprised! Also, the parking is covered too, which is a plus.

We had such a big party, when we first got there, the table was already set up. However, we requested a rearrangement of the table, the server was very nice and helpful, another plus.

We ordered Calamares a la Plancha, it was really good.  It tasted, smelt and looked very good, highly recommended. The green stuff that come with the bread was good too, i don't know what was it, maybe basil with olive oil?

My wife and i ordered a Linguine Carbonara con Pancetta, and Capellini Gamberi. The Linguine Carbonara con Pancetta was good, and I really like the Capellini Gamberi. Personally, i really like angel hair myself, so i could be biased.

The only complain was it was taking a long time for the server to get the plates out.  It was a birthday party so we needed the plates for the cake cutting.  Then later we found out that they didn't have enough plates, and they were waiting for the plates to be washed and dried.

Overall, i had a good experience and the food was good!

The first time I tried to eat at Pomodoro, the whole restaurant was shut down for their yearly month-long vacation to Europe.

WTF?!  It was so sad, because it was getting late and everything was starting to shut down... and there we were in Eastlake, that distant neighborhood so far from all the late night dining that I'm familiar with.  This was about a year ago.

Well, yelpers, I'm happy to report that it is SO WORTH THE WAIT.  What an amazing little place this is.  Every dish that was brought out to our table was perfect, from the the bread paired with an avocado-pesto, to the calamari appetizer (toasted, yet still tender and soooo flavorful) to my special Paella (knowing that the chef was Spanish, I had to try it!), to my friend's Fettuccine con Pollo al Jerez (Chicken in sherry cream sauce over Fettuccini) to my husband's Pollo alla Gorgonzola con Pistachio e Albicocca (Chicken with gorgonzola sauce with pistachios and apricots), OMG, everything was amazing.

Although my Paella was topped with huge wild prawns and rings of mussels and clams, I wished that I had saved some of the calamari to add to the dish.  It was that good.

I couldn't recommend Pomodoro enough.  It's cozy enough to be a romantic dinner spot, but casual enough for dinner with friends.  And the seats are among the comfiest restaurant seats I've ever sat on.  It seemed like it took a full 30 seconds to get settled into their ultra-plush cushions.

We had delicious dinner at Pomodoro! My husband and I were craving for Paella, and I was looking to see if any places other than we've been to offer Paella. I was looking through Yelp reviews and we decided to try this place out. We've driven by here many times but we haven't been to.

We ordered Caprice which was really good, Prawns in garlic oil which was also really flavorful, and their pork dish. The chef warned us this has really strong flavor but we decided to try this. This was really good! We had quite bit of bread with this pork dish. My husband liked their Spanish beer also.

Then we had Paella. Very good! It was the best I've had in Seattle. We ordered one and share but all the wonderful dishes made us very full!

We'll go back there again. I see many people eating pasta there, so I'll try their pasta next time!  Needless to say, they have great service and atmosphere.

This is a tough review to write.  I really want to give 4 stars, but just can't.

We arrived at Pomodoro a little before 6 PM today, long before the dinner rush.  There was only about 1-2 other tables occupied.

Damn! The wine is expensive here!  I get it, it's a classy place... but you can't offer a cheapish bottle?  I don't think I saw anything under $40.  The two of us ordered by the glass (which still came to $12 for two glasses of Chianti.  I guess it's a bit of a sticker shock just getting back from Italy where wine is cheaper than Coca~Cola.

We put in our entire meal order when we ordered our wine- everything ordered off the specials menu, one appetizer, and two different crab with pasta dishes. I know what you're thinking... "Complaining about the price of wine and then ordering 2 of the most expensive things on the menu? WTF Dude?"  Suck it, that's how I roll.

Anyways, we didn't get our wine for 20 min.  I'd understand if they are slammed, but there was 2 other tables in there!  Then, we didn't get our starter for an hour!  To their credit, the server came and apologized for the wait.  It's a good thing I was with such good company :)

The food was very good.  We had hummus stuffed ravioli that were really tasty, but a bit overcooked.  Of the two crab dishes, one tomato based and one garlic and truffle sauce based, the garlic truffle was the clear winner.  It was very very good.  The crab tasted super fresh.

It pangs me not to be able to give 4 stars just yet.  The good news is that I will be back because the food was good enough to warrant it, and that's tough to do in this town with all the options.

FWIW, I'm sure I got the one of the fluke service flaws that even the best restaurants have sometimes.  I look forward to updating this review.

Congratulations to YOU if you made it all the way through this wayyy too long review!

Awful service, food OK. 50 minutes to bring us a salad, when the place wasn't even full?? No explanation, no apology? No water refills, no extra bread, not a glance in our direction?

No, not acceptable. No tip for you.

We arrived so late and you were so good to our party of 12. I know you did not know what to make of us when we arrived, but thank you. I think we drank and ate our way through the entire menu and we all want to come back when we are in town next year. Thank you. I know nothing came to us fast, but we were there to eat and enjoy and not rush.

Pomodoro is my very favorite spot.  I've been eating here for years, even before I moved here permanently.    It's family owned and operated, rustic, authentic, unique and always delicious.  Their Vodka sauce is to die for.  Their Manicotti al Forno is complex.. They make homemade olive oils and feature the best Caprese Salad I've had since the Hill in St. Louis.  Their Beefsteak Tomato is also a real treat.

The service may be slow sometimes, but that's usually because they are packed at prime dinner time, and trust me, it's worth the wait.  Plus, there's plenty of fresh baked bread and wine to hold off your hunger until the entree comes.

I'm really surprised how all over the board the reviews are for this place, because after visiting and experiencing Pomodoro's last night on route to my b-day event I can't imagine this place ever not being a great meal.

It was empty when we arrived, but two small groups and a single meandered in during our meal.

The decor is not overly done, not pretentious, and not stuffy at all. It was obviously done with care, and not by a professional designer. I suspect the owner or his family had a heavy hand  in all the decisions. It's enough to make a good atmosphere and keep a little "humanity" and fallibility in the design.

The waitstaff was wonderfully attentive, nice, willing to converse-but not pushy or attention seeking. My water glass never reached half-full, or half-empty for that matter. ;-)

It is almost torturous waiting for your meal. Because the kitchen area is open to the dining area. So you can see the chef there working. For an older man, he was not hard on the eyes, but the torture is that you can SMELL the meals being prepared. You almost cannot help drooling.

The calamari appetizer was simply the BEST I've ever had in the city. Perfectly done.

The pesto was equally amazing. I don't know that I've ever had fresher, perfectly blended pesto.

I had one of the evenings specials, Linguine with roasted peppers and Italian sausage. Served with generous amounts of basil and Parmesan already. The only thing really to say to explain how good it was is at one point I commented, "I am about 2 minutes from starting to cry. Because I am getting full". Failure to finish my plate seemed sinful.

The baby shrimp with sun dried tomatoes on angel hair enjoyed by my dinner companion was equally amazing.

I had a nice glass of Riesling with the meal, was superb.

Such a tough choice choosing between Pomodoro, Sitka & Spruce and Serafina when going out to dinner in Eastlake.  They all get five stars from me, but if you're here get the Pork Belly - I've had a pork belly dish at the previously mentioned spots and theirs takes the cake!

I also like the small size and being able to see the owner work the kitchen.

My husband and I have had many long, drawn-out meals here.  This place is truly European.  The owner is Spanish, the friendly waitress is Albanian; both are very chatty and never in a rush.  You have to wait longer than other places for your dinner, but it's a pleasant wait, especially if the pianist is playing.  The calamari is unlike any other - succulent, tender and shiny.  The spinach salad comes with crushed walnuts and is so hearty and delicious that I sometimes find myself craving it.  Craving a spinach salad!   I haven't even gotten to the entrees: the pasta carbonara, the gnocchi with mushrooms, the vodka sauce are all excellent choices.

My husband has also called them for take-out numerous times when he wanted some comfort food but didn't feel like leaving the house.

The only critique I'd give them is that their bread could be a lot better.  The stuff they serve now is soft and squishy, almost like Italian Wonder Bread.

This was one of my favorite meals in recent history, and I've been eating out way too much lately. The restaurant space is small and cozy. There was a large party on one side of the house and the smaller tables were on the other side, allowing for reasonable conversation levels. You can see (and smell) the cooking area. The wine list has a nice mix of reasonably-priced Italian and Spanish wines to accompany the menu, and our server was very helpful with a recommendation when my first choice was not available.

I had two appetizers from the specials menu:
#1, the ceviche, which was phenomenal. I expected the typical bowl of seafood, and instead, was treated to a beautiful plate with rows of 5 morsels in each: tomato/avocado, onion/cilantro sprig, tender scallop, and a spicy sauce to tie it all together. Call it the deconstructed ceviche -- it was wonderful.

Tapas plate #2 had 3 generous ravioli filled with truffle hummus. The texture, smell and taste all combined into a wonderful sensory experience. I was in heaven.

Gentleman dining companion had carbonara, and he ate every bite, so I believe he was pleased. He also commented on the comfy chairs, friendly staff and easy parking. We can't wait to go back!

Pomodoro is a good place to eat.  The best food at Pomodoro is usually the special.  Antonlin makes a very good paella.

One of the nice parts of going to Pomodoro is the hours.  It's one of the few places you can go and get very good food late at night.   Spanish hours!  Their deserts are quite good, too.

Went here for dinner with a friend. We ended up just ordering a bunch of the tapas and sharing those, so I can't comment on any of the entries. The tapas were all great. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse cake which was good.

We were also waited on by, I believe, the owner. He was very gracious and made us feel welcome.

We went about a year ago... the experience was mixed.  We've heard either REALLY good things, or REALLY bad things.  So feeling lucky, we tried it.

My partner had the special, which had an interesting Hawaiian/Asian flair to his pasta dish.  It was amazing.  Very unique, very tasty, and something I wish became part of their regular menu.

I had some generic thing on the menu... and as you can see, it was forgettable.

There were some odd things about the place
1)  The location is odd... and I'm surprised there is "late night dining" because I'm not sure who would go (but apparently people do).

2)  We saw lots of young people on dates there... but I dunno, it just doesn't seem like a place I'd try to impress someone with.  If you go by earlier we've always seen old people there:  mmm, soft food!

3)  The menu starts by talking about how the chef cooked for President Clinton, and how wonderful he is.  The food doesn't seem to measure up... but, was kinda interesting, and filled up time from staring at the tacky decor (I remember lots of mirrors... that was weird)

Can't really explain it... but it was just a strange experience overall.  Mixed meal, strange atmosphere.  The staff was very friendly, but I'm not rushing to go back

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. It's quiet, dim, and peaceful, yet the open kitchen brings you out of your bubble.

I've had many things on the menu, and probably only encountered 1 I truly didn't like, and 1 that was so-so about. Most of them sing to me, especially the angel-hair pasta with shrimp. My husband usually has the fettucine with a sherry cream sauce.

Even when they're busy, I've hardly ever had to wait for refills on water or bread. And they serve spumoni right before the main dish as a palette cleanser. How can you not love that?

As a former professional chef and business owner I particularly enjoy going to Pomodoro.  It was one of the first places I went to when I moved to seattle in 2000.

The Atmosphere: They remodeled a few years ago, its nicely decorated, quiet and subtle.  It's really great for a quiet evening out with someone you love.

The People: Antonlin and Jay are WONDERFUL.  They are very hard working, and keep the business small and family feeling.  It looks as though some complain the service is slow, I don't go out to eat when I'm not able to sit and enjoy, and anyone who's been to italy can tell you it's just like a classic italian meal, slow and soothing.  Including the little ball of sherbet they serve as a palette cleanser before your main course.

The Food:  Now to the nitty gritty, the food is very well done here.  Antolin works very hard keeping the menu current with the seasons.  He has a rotating specials list that includes fresh Halibut, Copper River Salmon, and Dungeness Crab all when in season.  The pasta is always perfectly cooked and their pesto is out of this world (they give you some with your bread).

Overall it's a great small restaurant dining experience.  The best part is that if you don't order wine, you can go 3 courses for 2 people for under $60.

It's so good that when my parents fly in from hawaii we go there the very first night every time!

I don't even know where to start--this place rocks. The chef cooked for the King of Spain for a couple years, which is pretty legit. The menu has a wide selection, and the meals are all sized appropriately--they may not be heaping plates, but they are filling, delicious, and they leave you satisfied without feeling gorged. The sauces are cooked to perfection, and if you have questions about the menu, the hostess is more than happy to answer them. I'd never had a black truffle before I came here (don't judge me haha) and when I asked what they were like she told me they were a little like black olives...but brought me a sample so I could try it before I ordered the dish. Little touches like this just make you feel pampered when you come in.

I've gone in during regular dinner hours and also at midnight, and each time I've received great service. The lighting is dim, but warm; the chairs are comfortable; the walls are pretty. This may be a weird thing to say, but the tables are the right size--I hate places with giant tables that you have to lean across. Even when busy, the restaurant is quiet and sensual, without trying too hard. It's a great place for a date or to bring out of town guests.

I love their Kurobuta dish which had Kurobuta, mushed potatoes, pears and asparagus. so, I could enjoy several dish in one plate.

By the way, "Kurobuta" is Japanese (Berkshire pig). Spanish food and Japanese food is similar. Their Kurobuta dish with Spanish is awesome for my Japanese tongue!

One of my friends ate crab pasta and we shared ravioli tapas dish and they were delicious too. I would like to try Paella but I might order the kurobuta again :p

I really wanted to like this place.. no seriously I did..... everything from the quaint little tables, dim lighting, small wait staff and sweet garlic aroma totally made me want to love this place.... but again... I didn't.. it took forever to get our food. so we kept scarfing down on our bread that we had to pay extra for each time it was filled but our anti pasta that came and was bland, cold and disgusting....

ok ok our dinner even though it came about 40 mins from when we order was good... not memorable but good.. maybe I should have gone there with people that knew the owners.. who knows.. dining out should be an experience ... someone else cooking and cleaning for you so you don't have to do it yourself.. trust me my ex cooked amazing and we could have done much better and cheaper at home... so boo on you pomodoro!!!!! boooooooooooooo..... I don't like giving places another try if only one dish was good... fin...

Went here on Valentines Day, and just wasn't feelin the love. If the food wasn't so damn good, I woulda given Pomodoro 3 Stars.

We had 8:30 reservations, and showed up an optimistic few mins early. No such luck, we had to wait a bit. It's V Day, busy busy, I get it, but our service that night did not live up to the expectations I had after reading the reviews. The chef/owner appeared to be the only waiter, and a flustered one at that. My boyfriend said when he came here for tapas previously, the chef made the rounds and chatted it up. On V Day he did a bit of this, but none if his charm made it to our table. Bread with the famous dipping sauce was served in a timely fashion. The pesto dip was very good, but I was expecting artisan bread; the bread was really cheap tasting, I've gotten better from Safeway. Anyways, we ordered Ravioli de Hummus y Trufa (ravioli with hummus, smoked mozz and black truffles) as an appetizer. It showed up at 9:10 (that's 40 mins after our reservations). The ravioli were very good and definitely not the kind of thing I usually go for, so that was a pleasant surprise.

The entrees arrived at 9:30, so thank goodness we had the bread and appetizer to tide us over. I had the Capellini Gamberi (angel hair pasta with tiny shrimp and sun dried tomatoes in olive oil and garlic) and it was fabulous. I've had similar dishes ruined by way too many sun dried tomatoes, but this was perfect and also enough for leftovers. The BF had Linguine con Polpa di Granachio al Fresco (linguine with crab and fresh tomatoes in olive oil, garlic and red wine) and he loved his too. It was a great meal. BUT, I was put off by the service, except for the bus girl who was very sweet. I noticed the owner making an effort to check on some of the tables, even just to ask how their meal was at the end. When I graciously thanked him for everything he delivered to our table, he barely acknowledged me. Also, about the time we got our appetizer, a Spanish - speaking couple was seated next to us. The owner couldn't talk to them enough, you would have thought they were the only table in the restaurant!  As far as I could see, the only difference between us and the other English - speaking tables, was that we didn't order a bottle of wine. Does that mean we deserve the cold shoulder? I don't think so, especially not when most entrees are $15 - $20. So overall, that was quite annoying.

To top off the meal, we had the Tiramisu which was also delicious. I left Pomodoro with a full and satisfied stomach, but also a little pissed off. We were barely made to feel welcome, for no reason at all, and we were definitely treated worse than other tables. I don't know if I'll be back, but if I return and the service sucks, it'll be the last time, and I'm knocking off a Star.  Take that.

I'm glad that my latest visit to Pomodoro wasn't my first visit, because I may not have gone back. It must have been an off night, as we waited 45 minutes for our entrees AFTER our tapas and palate cleansers had been cleared. The server was incredibly apologetic, though, and we were having a leisurely dinner anyway, so it wasn't a huge deal.

The menu is an interesting fusion of Italian and Basque cuisine. The flavors were on point and I spent a good deal of time trying to place the ingredients in the spread accompanying the bread. Pesto? Avocado? Parsley? I don't know. It was green, and it was good. That is all I need to know.

I love that they bring a small dish of palate cleansing sorbet between courses. Anyone who brings me ice cream at any point in a meal is going to get on my good side.

I'll be back, and hopefully not on an off night, again.

My girlfriend and I love Pomodoro for the intimate atmosphere and delicious food. One thing we always order are the Ravioli de Hummus y Trufa and they are AMAZING.  Another favorite is the Penne alla Vodka.  Plus, they are open late and the servers are very sweet. Some minuses? There could be more vegetarian options on the menu and the caesar hasn't been very good the last couple times.  However, Pomodoro is still one of our favorite Seattle restaurants.

Being a frequent flyer of this style of venue I must take the time to inflate their bubble as much as possible.
My daughter and I have visited this outstanding restaurant on numerous occasions.  Each time it just gets a little better . . .if that is possible.
The other night, we were dining in our usual spot, taking in all the adjoining activities near us.  It was deser time for our neighbors and they were having "cherries jubalee" (sp).  I watch intently  30 "years" since I last had that desert.  It was an amazing event.  When the process was completed and the  folks at the neighboring table each had thier share of this wonderful treat, one of the gents turned to us and said. "if its been 30 years since you had cherries J. you need to take this dish and enjoy.  We do so and it was a first for my daughter.  She too was amazed at how special this was.  Thanks to the neighboring table !!!   your gesture is much appreciated.  kudoes to the Pomodoro staff for a great event and wonderful evening.

After trying to figure out the parking situation - After 6pm, you CAN park in the attached garage even tho' it appears to be reserved for tenets. (I guess I need to trade my reading glasses in for full strength coke-bottle lenses!)

What a lovely and charming restaurant!  Everything was just perfect.
Our server had such a quick wit, that she used appropriately and with perfect timing.  Michael and I started w/ a bowl of gazpacho, which was surprisingly spicy and delicious.  I say, surprisingly, because it resembled a slightly lighter in color bowl of chilled Campbell's Tomato Soup.  It was creamy and perfectly silky, and topped w/ chopped red and green peppers and homemade croutons.  The first taste was fantastic - the spiciness of the blended jalapenos came through at just the right level.

We then had the baked eggplant dish.  Heaven.  Layered slices of eggplant and noodles. Baked w/ a light, slightly sweet and tangy sauce and cheese.  It wasn't a huge dish - which was nice.  Just enough to leave you completely satisfied, but not, ug, full!

Since we were seated towards the front of the restaurant, we were able to spy all the dishes coming out.  Beautiful plating!  The gnocchi dish I saw looked delicious.   There's nothing outdated about this place.

The owner, who according to his bio listed at the back of the menu, appears to have had quite the career cooking for Kings, Queens and Presidents, came out a couple of times to talk to staff, check tables and chat with a few customers.  He seems sweet.

As some of the other reviewers stated - don't let the outside of this place keep you from coming in.  The food is fantastic, great wine list (w/ affordable by the glass and bottle) and a full bar.

Their pride clearly shines through and is rightfully earned!

this is certainly one of my all time favorite eateries in seattle.  Great place for a date. Take your new lady or man here and i guarantee they'll be impressed.  Order anything and I'm confident you'll love it.

Finish it off with Peaches Flambay.

To top it off the staff is wonderful.

Three words for Pomodoro:

Horrendous.  Pretentious.  Garish.

I came here with a party of about 7 and was shocked at how tiny the portions were for their immodest pricing.  Every course was consistently off-the-mark.  The chef seems to have been most concerned, bizarrely, with the brightness of the colors in the dish - not the mix of colors, not the taste - but which plate screamed with the bloodiest reds and most Blue Lake 40 Greens.

Very strange for a restaurant whose website boasts its head chef has cooked for the King of Spain and President Clinton.  He must have been off that night.

My salad was a wasteland of rubbery spinach, untimely ripp'd from some prepackaged bag.  It oozed with an Italian dressing so oily that I actually had to slide it down the table.

The restaurant, in the height of pretension, meant to serve iced sorbet as a palette-cleanser in between courses but instead served up wildly pigmented ice cream SHERBERT.  NOT sorbet my friend.  Not even close.

As an entree I ordered a simple pasta dish and asked for "no shrimp."  My tortellini was served with tasteless translucent gummy chunks mixed in, comprising about a third of the platter.  I asked the waitress what it was and she said, "Oh, it's eggplant, we threw it in to spice it up a bit!"   Eggplant.  Literally the blandest of vegetables. Why , I ask, WHY cheat me out of that extra third of tortellini, which was actually very good?

I was there with a group of friends for dinner a few weekends ago.  The staff was very friendly and courteous and we all had a wonderful time.  My dinner was very good.  It was a huge portion of Fettuccine alle Vongole (fettuccine with clams) that I really enjoyed.  The pasta was cooked al dente and tossed with a light cream sauce that was very garlicky but not over-powering.   (I'm a garlic lover.)  The white wine pairing also worked quite well with the meal.  I certainly will return to dine here again.

I work across the street from Pomodoro, and since I used to work night shift and Pomodoro is open late, it was inevitable that sooner or later I end up eating there.

I confess, I was not enthused about the idea. The person who mostly recommended it was in the habit of keeping a jar of mayonnaise in the office refrigerator so that he could take cheap cold cuts, roll them up, dip them in mayonnaise, and chomp. And then, he referred to Pomodoro's food as "gourmet," which was also pretty offputting--I mean, so far as I can tell, the epithet only serves to distinguish real food made with real, fresh ingredients from things like Pop-Tarts, which oughtn't to exist in the first place.

But. Pomodoro is good.

Wow - I am just gonna have to join the crowd of 5 star reviews! Yum-ME!

I went with a big party so I had a chance to sample a bunch of items - all really yummy! From the carbonara to the paella, everything is savory and rich in flavor. They use humanely raised, environmentally consciously grown foods, so it is a great treat to get to eat some meat in a restaurant!  And, they offer almost everything as a vegetarian option as well, so everyone is sure to be sated at meal's end. This Spanish/Italian blend is delicicioso! Entrees are in the high teens to low twenty's, so it isn't cheap but they offer very healthy servings. Two could share an entree, and a salad and appi and be well fed.

Took my parents here while they were in town while waiting to set sail to Alaska.
I'm pretty sure my dad fell in love with our server as she was as smart assed and snarky as he was and they dished it back and forth all night.
The food was wonderful, the atmosphere relaxed and classy.
I wish I had saved room for dessert.
It is a great place to take visitors and go a bit early in the evening if you want to avoid a full house. We went at 6:30 and were the only ones there.

My friend and I wanted Italian but since I'm vegan I am wary of trying to eat Italian food since it is often cheesy. I ran in and asked if their pasta has egg in it and it didn't so we decided to give it a try. I wanted puttanseca but the dairy in it couldn't easily be left out. I ended up getting penne with red sauce and they added kalamata olives for me since I wanted puttanesca. It was really good. My friend had the paella and she said it was really good too.
My friend and I needed separate receipts and our drinks on separate checks (our company was paying) and the staff was really nice about our odd request.

This unknown, out of the way place is one of my favorite date places in seattle.  its never crowded, so you can always count on it for a quiet, candlelit dinner.

the food, a mix of spanish and italian, is very tasty, especially the seafood.

have a bottle of wine and some good fish with your sweetie.  trust me on this one.

I wish this place was known to me while my elderly grandparents came to visit. They complained that the other places we took them were too noisy, and I am an understanding granddaughter so I don't hold this grievance against them.
Pomodoro was quite and had very comfy chairs. The servers were talkative and proud of their establishment. Fusion Food usually embarrasses me, but I was impressed by the chef's creative dishes such as the Hummus stuffed raviolis, which where the highlight of the night.
My grandparents also can't see very well, so they wouldn't have minded the out of date decor. I have the feeling that the ambience isn't really the main concern though, and if you want some nice surrounding, Serafina is down the road.*
So here's my recommendation for where you can take your grandparents for when they next come to town, so you can have a conversation and actually hear one another.

*This is acutally where I took my grandparents last time they came, and not only was it too loud but my wine-snob grandpa got into a tuff with the waiter about if the wine was really a chardonnay.

This place doesn't look to great from the outside...do they still have the neon sign?

However, when you enter it is quaint, and quite a bit more upscale than you think.  The selection is huge, and all the food I have had is great, eventhough it is on the pricier side of things.

My wife and I went for a date there at one point...and we made one of the best choices of our lives when we selected the peaches flambee...WOW.

They make the entire dessert in front of you and it's amazing.  The dessert is expensive but it serves two people, and it is well worth it.  I believe they also had a cherry flambee, and bananas foster.

This place must do no advertising whatsoever, since it isn't hugely popular, but it should be.

Pomodoro was going to get 3.5-4 stars, but the end of the night changed my mind and left it with only 3 (still a decent score, mind you).

I enjoyed the food, which I think is important.  We started off with some bread with some sort of pesto sauce, which was okay.  Our appetizer was the "pomodoro con aceto balsamico" and it was nothing too special, but I liked it.  After the appetizer, our server brought us each a cup of sherbet.  We were kind of confused, thinking it was an accident and was meant for someone else, so we just kind of stared at it for awhile.  When she brought us our entrees, the server asked, "Oh, you don't want the ice cream?" We explained that we did, but we were confused, and she told us it is just something they give you between the appetizer and entree - as if it was perfectly normal.  Okay, well, I won't turn down free sweets, so hey!  It was your average, store-bought rainbow sherbet, but fine.  I had the penne alla vodka, which came covered in parmesan and basil, and I quite enjoyed it.  I tasted my companion's gnocchi (with mushrooms and Italian sausage) and thought it was good as well - and I am quite picky about my gnocchi.  I liked the wine they recommended as well.

BUT (there's always a but): the service was kind of slow.  Although everyone was very nice, it wasn't the fastest service around.  The woman who was refilling the water, on the other hand, never let my glass dip below half-empty, which was appreciated.  I think they need to let her do more than just serve water!

Food, check.  Service, check.  Now for the real problem.

Toward the end of our meal, we noticed it smelled very strongly of fish.  Neither of us care for seafood, but it wasn't even a good smell at all.  The kitchen was pretty near to where we were seated, so it wafted over and became pretty bothersome.  The slow service comes into play here, too - we had to sit there and breathe fishysmell while waiting for our check.

We caught a cab home, and the cab driver said, "Oh, how was dinner?" I thought he was referring to my to-go box, and we said dinner had been good.  "You had fish!" he said.  I personally don't enjoy walking around smelling of seafood, especially after having had to smell it for so long.  It probably colored my opinion a bit, unfortunately.

I liked the food, so I'd go back, but the fish thing put us off a little.

It's a really romantic and charming little restaurant tucked into quaint Eastlake.  Everything in Eastlake is a hidden treasure, the area doesn't get much hype and is often overlooked.  That's a bonus for the rest of us!

Starter salads: amazing!  The dressing on my salad was a fantastic house italian.
I chose the Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto alla Putanesca with shrimp and I never looked back.  I'd have it again next time, but this is the kind of place where I wanted to order at least 4 entrees so next time I have to make myself try something new.  It was just delicious though, highly recommended!
The BF had Cannelloni di Vitello and it was so amazing...I almost wanted to steal his plate from him.  But he has about 9 inches and 90 pounds on me, so I acted happy with one bite.  I'm not usually a huge fan of veal but this combination just did everything perfectly.  Great blend of flavors and served in a big dish of ooey-gooey cheese and sauce.  I might get that next time....wait, no, I have to try new things!

I recommend checking their web site and reviewing the menu prior to your dinner.  We had to ask for more time like 3 times because we just couldn't decide.  Everything sounded so good!!!  And they didn't disappoint!

The cute little owner was walking around checking with every table, making sure the food was good and everyone was happy.  Just a really charming place to have a magnificant dinner!

The food was bland. I used to have such a hard time finding a good Italian restaurant and was hoping to find it here. I did not. Luckily since my experience at Pomodoro I have discovered Il Terezzo Carmine which is a great staple, and new comers like Trovolata. I know The Pink Door is always a sure thing too. Having these options makes Pomodoro a waste of time. There are many new Italian joints popping up that I need to try too. I am glad I have so many options and will not need to try Pomodoro again.

I have to admit I've only gone there on one occasion, but I would go back again.  The place was open conveniently late and the food was reasonably priced.  Antolin, the owner himself was the lone server working that evening and he was very helpful and insightful about the dishes.  The food was piping hot and delicious.  My only complaint?  I wished they had a crunchier type of bread and offered refills of the basket.
