Pomme has been one of our old standby places for after-dinner drinks and dessert. They have a good selection of brown liquor, as well as bartenders who know what to do with it.

You can't go wrong with the desserts -- the pie of the day is always something delicious, and I'm also a fan of the homemade ice cream.  If that's not enough, they have this big jar of fresh baked cookies just sitting there tempting you while you have your drink.

We've tried coming here for brunch a few times and while the food's been good (I dig the pancakes), I feel like the service tends to be on the inattentive side in the mornings.  Things have always been wonderful in the evenings, but it just seems like they put the second string waitstaff on the morning shift.

Eek and ick! To second what Sara B (W) said, regardless if your not-canned (but obviously are) pears are canned or not, they taste that way. Don't argue with the customer, apologize because they are not happy, and offer something else, to take it off the bill, something customer service-like.

All I pictured the whole time was Gordon Ramsey sitting at the table and pushing plates away yelling out "what asshole thought up this disgusting mess!"

Sometimes I say ridiculous things for emphasis. This time I'm just stating a fact: some of THE WORST food I have ever had, in the company of school lunches, TV dinners, and $1 pot pies.

Some of the reviews are in such positive light I can't imagine anything but different cooks and staff on some nights. The entrees sounded like they could be good, but perhaps were just botched or shortcuts taken which ruined them. This backed by wait staff that was so busy with their 2 tables they never came to check, refill drinks or even water, or clear plates. Be careful what night you go!

    I would never return here!

After the first place we went to had no open seats we both thought "hey, we should try this place."
    We were WRONG!
From the minute the server came to the table she had a blank and empty stare on her face with a super FLAT affect. She wasn't interested in any banter between us, nothing. not friendly basic conversation.
    Our order:
    Butternut Squash soup
Spinach salad with GOAT cheese, beets and pears with candied walnuts
    Lamb Rigatoni
    mushroom Gnocchi.

    Here is the low down!
The soup was by far the best thing we tried that evening. That being said it had no flavor and was pretty boring.

The salad was DRIPPING in their oil. there was 1 slice of beet and 1 slice of canned pears. The grossest part was the fact that the "goat cheese" was not salad goat cheese that is Oh so creamy and delish! No, it was BRIE. Not a good combo with the other items. When I brought this to the attention of the server she brought me out a piece of "brie" but it was made from goats milk, so it was goat cheese. I don't know about anyone else but I really dislike when someone tries to prove that they are right, especially when they are wrong.

The Rigatoni tasted like beef stew meet and COLD noodles.
Again the Gnocchi was also COLD and the mushrooms were hard as rocks and not easy to eat.

Obviously we weren't having a good time while having a meal here, but to top it off....Both of us had finished with our entrees and our dirty plates sat on our table for more then 10 minutes while the bus boys and our servers chit chatted with one another about the weekend festivities and what not. For such an expensive meal you would expect such higher quality.

Truly, I felt as though the only people that were in this establishment were pretentious snobs that invited like minded people to go here. No one was friendly. Sad, b/c it could be a cool place....its not though.

The price does not reflect the quality of service or food. Overall poor value unless you're 65-75 and have that passive income locked down. Then you probably don't care.

I'm a big fan of brunch so I'm on a constant hunt for great brunch places in St. Louis. When my friend and I happened upon Pomme, I thought I'd have another restaurant to add to my short list of brunch places.

Unfortunately, this would not be the case.

I got Pomme's version of my go-to brunch fare: eggs benedict. Never fails to disappoint but Pomme's version did disappoint... a lot. First of all, they trimmed the eggs to the max and left solely the poached yolk atop my "benedict." Second of all, the bacon, which is actual bacon and not the Canadian bacon (ham) that's most often served with in eggs benedict, didn't complement the dish very well. Its crunchy texture made it hard to eat with the English muffin and the eggs so I had to eat it on the side, which was not how I had intended to have my bacon. Apparently Pomme is not a place where I can have my bacon and eat it too. Third of all, the wait was inexplicably long for poached eggs and a salad. Granted the salad had hanger steak on it but with how empty the restaurant was about 5-10 minutes after we were seated, the long wait seemed bizarre.

I don't think I'll be returning here any time soon and will thus resume my hunt for a good brunch place in St. Louis.

Pomme is a cute little spot in Clayton where a lot of people bring their dogs to eat with them outside (cute!).  I've only been there for brunch and it's been about the same both times.

-- I've had the pancakes and the quiche and both were pretty good.
-- I like that they serve fresh fruit with almost everything.
-- They have a pretty extensive menu of juices & coffee drinks and they also have bloody marys and mimosas.
-- There are lots of sides you can add to any meal, (bacon, ham, sausage, oh and potato cakes! mmm!!).
-- I've never had a problem with seating or service.  The service is actually really good.

It might not be the best brunch you've ever had (the menu is pretty small) but if you know to expect a cute little place with a small menu it fits the bill!

I live right down the street, so I can't believe it's taken me so long to try Pomme! Today was the day....

They were pretty packed, but my guy and I were seated right away.  Super friendly staff, and very prompt service.  The OJ was fresh - score!  We decided to split the huevos rancheros and the english muffin, salmon, egg combo.  My guy doesn't do cream cheese, so in it's place we had butter on the english muffins w/ our salmon.  It was phenomenal.  And good thing, because the huevos rancheros were NOT.  Sorry Pomme, but the sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee.  Totes serious.  Don't order it.  Do order the salmon if you're a smoked salmon gal or guy.  It hit the spot.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Saint Louis. It always brings me back memories of when I spent some time in Paris, France.

I had dinner here last Friday and it was a fabulous night as always. My boyfriend and I started with the Brie cheese and apples bruschetta (delicious) & shrimp scampi brushchetta (the chef seared the shrimp perfectly), then I got my usual order of duck salad, and my boyfriend ordered the salmon BLT!

I love coming here because my favorite server always remembers me (she knows I love their Fuki riesling wine), the food is constantly amazing and the service is tremendous!

You can get better service, but you can't pay more...  Seriously, Pomme has the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant.  We had to wait forever for an extremely over-priced breakfast (they weren't crowded), beg for refills AND bus our own table. I'm not sure I'll ever go back since this was the 2nd time we'd given them a shot.  Much better options in the neighborhood.

Just had an amazing experience here last night. I was in town for work and looking for a nice place with quality food and a good ambiance. They exceeded my expectations in every category! The butternut squash gnocchi was amazing and the bartender had some great pairing recommendations. Great service and a fun place to spend an evening in St Louis.

More and more underwhelming with every visit.

The first time I came, I enjoyed it. Charming, quaint, simple. Glass of wine, good salad. Good times.

Return! Grainy, bland, mac and cheese. Still, a gorgeous day, another gorgeous glass of wine.

Third time (and likely last visit). French onion soup was poorly-flavored onion water with an abundance of cheese and crouton. Special chicken-prosciutto creamy pasta was under-seasoned (but thank you for the salt and fresh pepper grinder at the table so I can season my own food). It's not like I just added a sprinkling of pepper to enhance. There was absolutely no taste. What I consider an abundance of salt was added - unacceptable for a $17.50 plate of pasta. Chocolate mousse was well-textured, chocolatey, but could have been richer. Too sugary sweet.

I will likely never experience this place for a fourth trip. It's just not good enough, and who wants to go to a restaurant that's a crap shoot?

I decided to give Pomme Cafe a try because they were participating in the Dining 4 Kids Children's Hospital benefit. And I'm really glad I did. I'll definitely be visiting the Pomme Cafe again.

First, the gnocci. THE GNOCCI. Wow. If I'm being honest, I have to say this is the first gnocci I've ever had, so I have no basis for comparison. That said, it was incredible. So much flavor, great texture and nice portions.

We also tried the homemade chips but, to be honest, you can skip them. I'm pretty sure they had been pre-cooked because they were room temperature when we got them and they weren't anything special.

The homemade vanilla ice cream sundae, however, is a nice treat to finish things off.

The atmosphere is nice and intimate. Low lights, generally quiet.

All in all, a great place. I'll be going back.

After a poor showing the first time around, it couldn't have been better on my recent 2nd visit.  I thought about requesting the same waiter as before but decided to just let things happen (and got a different staff member).  The friend I was with has experienced this place many times and is her favorite in Clayton.  Not fast food for sure but not upscale.  You can feel free wearing jeans and a tshirt or a suit if in the area for work.  Ordered was the bacon (very flavorful), scrambled eggs (good consistency), english muffin (twiced toasted as requested and very good), oatmeal (excellent) and hash browns (excellent).  Butter has been allowed to soften making for easy spreading (and I hate fighting with butter).   A nice comfortable place on the corner of N Central and Maryland.

I also have to add that I managed to park directly in front of the cafe when at one point a meter maid pulled up to write some tickets.  I had not noticed the meter had gone out and the waiter immediately pulled some changed from his pocket and gave me two quarters and as I ran outside, the meter maid (is that the right term?) was very nice about it and allowed me to add to my time.   I will go back.

After about a week in STL, PCWB totally made my Fri since we couldn't get a flight out that night.  It was at the end of a rambling tour through downtown, past City Hall and Union Station, through Forest Park and the Art Museum  on the hill, skirting past the zoo (we made a point to stop at Turtle Park), through the fancy-pants residential section of Clayton - and it was fancy - into the semi-built up area of downtown Clayton.  All in all, St Louis has some great architecture, beautiful parks and gardens, and a few too many sports arenas, but I get the feeling the locals are sorta invested.

We skipped the tapas place (too noisy), pizza (too many carbs), Chinese and Japanese, and after a big loop, sat down at PCWB at an outside table (whew!).  I really liked their basic caesar to start; it has to do with aromatic cheese on crispy greens.  They put anchovies in the dressing, soooo good. For dinner, I went with the Ham and Cheese (Gruyere) which came out piping hot, nicely browned and totally buttery and salty.  It goes well with the steamed broccoli and oven roasted potatoes, simple stuff.  I really like this little place bec/ dessert was a tiny slice of chocolate cake with rum butter frosting, lordy.  Such a great little bistro.

It's airy and casual with great food.  It's nice to think that Pomme Restaurant - the heavy hitter  two doors down - has lighter fare here.  The chef? some fellow in a white outfit would wander down to PCWB to visit with the couple sitting next to us and order his friends another glass of wine.  Ah, the quintessential St Louis regulars!  Next trip, I'm staying in Clayton and skipping Arch everything.

It was decent for a quick lunch.  We split a grilled cheese and I had the French onion soup and she had  tomato soup since we weren't really that hungry and the grilled chesse was good, but the tomato soup was gross.  You could almost taste the tin can it came from in the soup.  The French onion was alright but nothing I would go back for by any means.

Also it never helps when they get the whole order backwards.  We got the wrong soups and both got a whole grilled cheese at first.

I don't know if I will be back in this area anytime in the near future but if I am I will probably skip this place.

Love the brunch here. The omelettes with egg whites only are delish and the homemade biscuits are amazing. The service is also generally very good.

I immediately liked pomme for the shade of green it's painted and because the name is written in lowercase letters.  Inside, wood floors, exposed brick, candles and simple black tables come together to create a casually romantic atmosphere that I love.  Once I had the food though, I was really hooked.

We went for a late New Year's Eve dinner.  Though I had been there once before and fallen in love with their brunch (delicious, with good coffee to boot,) I didn't know what to expect for dinner.  They were featuring a special three course menu for the holiday, with several selections for each course.  I had the fried oysters to start, which were delicately fried and had great flavor.  For my entree I chose the char and I was very pleased.  It was beautiful, cooked perfectly and while it may have been a little too salty for some, I loved it.  Round 3 was pineapple upside down cake with pineapple sherbet and it was  excellent.  My date was equally pleased with his field green salad, jambalaya, and creme brulee.

Our waitress was personable and very helpful, having tasted everything on the featured menu before beginning her shift that evening.  She also provided useful information as we narrowed down our wine selections (they have a nice selection both by the glass and bottle.)

It was a great place to ring in the new year, and my favorite St. Louis find so far!

This place is incredibly underrated amongst the masses.  I have had some PERFECT lunches at Pomme. The spinach salad with salmon is the best I've ever had. Spot on. The price? A mere $7.
I also enjoyed a turkey sandwich on toast with avocado, tomatoes and sauteed onions. It was extremely tasty.
I have had the a couple pasta dishes and they were spot-on.
The wine selection is pretty good, which is typical for that area.

Man, I have to say I was disappointed after reading some of the good reviews on here for Pomme Cafe.  The space is wonderful, and the service was nice, OK wine selection, but my food was pretty awful.  I got the duck confit salad.  It was a heaping hot (literally) mess of soggy duck (not a true confit that's for sure) on some (bib and romaine?? odd) lettuce with a few dried cherries and huge hunks of sauteed apples.  Underdressed.  Some goat cheese might be a good addition to.  It definitely needed something.  It looked, and was unappetizing.  Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.  Again, space, staff, and wine are OK, but that's about it.

Not the fancy-Pomme, but the casual Pomme.

They used to have a sandwich that was my FAVE - fresh roasted turkey, avocado, tomato, and roasted sweet onions.  The turkey sandwich has changed and I don't like it as much, but still pretty good.  Sandwiches are served with amazing little homefries and sauteed veggies.  Nice though put into the sides.

The entrees tried were also good, as are the salads, which are fairly inventive.  A salad topped with duck came with a lot of duck, which can be a rare phenomenon.

Dinner is not expensive and wines can be poured in 3oz portions, so you can taste a few without getting sloshed.

The only downside?  A small, limited menu. The upside?  Everything is fresh and very quasi-Euro.  Great outside seating, too.

I used to live right around the corner! Pomme was an easy walk on nice nights..

    Things I like:
    1. The duck confit salad. It's a little overpiced ($10) for the size, but the duck is juicy and delicious and overall it's a great little salad.
    2. The boyfriend's orchietti pasta with sausage & (i think) chard was very tasty. I definitely stole more than 1 bite, which is always a good sign.
    3. Homemade sorbet! I'm more of a doused in chocolate girl myself, but when it's hot and sticky in St Louis homemade sorbet is the way to go!
    4. Pretty good wine & cocktail list!

    Things I didn't like:
    1. It tends to attract really old guys and their much younger "friends." If you are going to be an old guy taking a young girl out, at least take her someplace really fancy. Then I won't have to sit really close to you and hear your entire vapid conversation. Thanks!
    2. The waitstaff can be a little flaky! The first few times we walked in we had to do the awkward hover by the door and try and figure out if it's a seat yourself place or not (not).

MMMMMMMM! I love Pomme! They have the most amazing brunches, especially the omelets, they truly are great.  Whenever I eat brunch at Pomme, I get an omelet, and its 99.9% of the time fantastic. I get egg whites, and they have no problem cooking the eggs either way.  The toast is delicious and fresh, and so is the fruit they serve with the eggs as well.

Since I have always loved brunch there recently I have started to dine out at Pomme for lunch.  The tuna steak sandwich is great.  Today I ate at Pomme and got the Mac and Cheese, which was great as well.  The side salad was dressed with an incredible dressing and the mac and cheese was made with white cheese, not a classic american or yellow cheese.

Wow, was my lunch good, and now come to think of it, I actually might go there for brunch this weekend.

    A Great local spot! =)

I went by Pomme Cafe and Wine Bar the other day for dinner. Since it was Memorial Day pretty much every place was closed. Finding a restaurant to eat at that did not involve a drive up menu looked to be a challenge. Never the less, while driving though downtown Clayton and seeing people through the window, I quickly made up my mind as to where I was going to have dinner.

Pomme Cafe and Wine Bar is a nice place to go to eat. When I was there it was nice and quiet as most of all the other people in the country were probably grilling out. I ended up ordering a classic Ruben sandwich, which was nice and hearty that tasted wonderful as was the toasted apple slices on cheese bread that I also had.

Pomme Cafe and Wine Bar was a great treat that I greatly enjoyed.

Ambiance,Bonhomie, Cuisine - the ABCs that Pomme prides itself for.
The bonhomie was certainly in keeping with the very laid-back and pleasant ambiance of this cute cafe. When I was here for dinner, I shared the small space with a diverse group of folks ranging from couples, girl-friends,post-work crowds to a family birthday gathering - a typical neighborhood spot.
The cuisine - I thought it was overpriced, for a pretty standard and limited fare. I despise broccoli, but the broccoli-almond soup was so good, I might go green after all. The Belgian chocolate mousse was pretty amazing too. That apart, the wine, dinner selections didn't really make an impact.
But for a casual, quick, good food excursion in Clayton, Pomme definitely meets the requirements.

Went for brunch 2 weekends in a row. The food and the service are both superb. The eggs were cooked perfectly and tasted silky and buttery. Don't come here if you are on a diet. They don't skimp on the butter. The 'hashbrowns' aka weird fried mashed potato ball are not my taste but everything else was great. The bacon is really, really good. The menu is also pretty small but again the quality of the food is great and the service is warm and simply impeccable.

This is my favorite place for a nice, hearty weekend breakfast. The omlettes are always well made and come with a full feast of side dishes. This definitely is not a cheap breakfast place as everything is $1-$2 more than it probably should be, but the food is executed well and most importantly delicious.

They also serve Kaldi's coffee which is huge plus and they know how to make a decent cappuccino.

The atmosphere is very pleasant and we've generally received good service (especially from Joseph).

A breakfast here is a great start to any weekend.

Cozy little gem in the middle of downtown Clayton, Pomme Cafe is small and moderately priced relative to other good restaurant options in the neighborhood..

This is a casual place and the menu is concise but there are nice wines by the bottle and the glass, food is generally light but excellent and the atmosphere is sophisticated enough to make you feel like you've found a special place that's worth paying a bit extra to enjoy. Lots of good food choices but I definitely recommend the hangar steak salad and the Dover sole.  Live music sometimes.

Great place for breakfast or brunch. The hash browns are a pleasant surprise and the biscuits are to die for. Get them as a prelude to brunch with one of the outstanding Bloody Marys. Quaint and always good. Great staff, especially Aaron. Always attentive.

What a great little spot...it's quaint, it's cozy, and the food is (quite naturally) on par with it's adjacent sibling restaurant Pomme...and that's really saying something!  Perfect when you want a quick bite and GOOD glass of wine before the movies.  Or when you can't bear to eat at CPK with the kids again.  Kids are nicely accomodated here, and adults are happy in a civilized European feeling bistro.

Olives and red wine.  Pomme offered a range of drinking snacks, appetizers, small dishes to go with your drinks.  I ate their olives, which were decent and well-priced.  I imbibed their wine of which there was a great selection in price and region.  Do you feel French, or South American or Californian?

This place opens at 7am, but don't even bother with their weekly breakfast. I ordered a blueberry muffin and coffee en route to work, and I'm just completely disappointed with the waitstaff and breakfast selection. The girl who took my order was very rude and seemed put off by my request to hear the muffins of the day. The "blueberries" were the size of raisins, and given the fact that it is summer...and there are fresh blueberries available...I would expect more than a Betty Crocker box mix.

PS. These muffins were lacking substantial muffintops, and in my book, that is just a no-no.

Pomme Cafe has that "je ne sais quoi" that will have you chanting, "c'est ce bon"! In fact, this quaint cafe will leave you seriously contemplating a relocation to the french countryside. In the springtime Pomme's lively patio captivates passers-by subtly yet seductively; a hint of Paris in lovely downtown Clayton. In wintertime the warmly lighted interior, welcoming aromas of coffee and baked goods, and effusive conversational banter beckon even the weariest and frigid of souls. Open the door and you will be welcomed by the attentive, courteous and professional staff. Choose a table along the beautiful exposed brick side wall or elbow up to the bar, a massive and stately granite slab facing a mirror that is flanked by two towering climate-controlled wine racks. Order a superb mug of coffee while you contemplate the breakfast menu. The selections vary from oatmeal, fresh fruits and yogurt parfaits to pancakes, french toast, quiches and omelets. On any given weekend Pomme will feature one quiche of the day and 2 signature omelets. Or try my newly-discovered favorite, the English muffin with herbed cream cheese and smoked salmon - a beautiful muffin crafted by local baker Breadsmith, quite possibly the most perfect muffin I have ever bit into, topped by whipped cream cheese and a decadent portion of smoked salmon. The dish is finished with scrambled eggs and fresh fruit; eggs so delicately textured that the curds seem as warm, fragrant and pale yellow clouds. The presentation is so perfect that it is almost too lovely to delve into... almost. Ah, Pomme - thank you for inspiring me to make it through to another weekend.

Overall, I enjoyed this quaint little bistro.  The restaurant is very small with only a few tables, and bar that spans almost the whole room.  My sister ordered the French Onion Soup, which looked delicious.  She said she could taste the wine in it.  I ordered a mixed green salad, which was somewhat plain, but still fresh and dressed with a nice vinaigrette.  The food was simple yet very tasty.  It kind of reminded me of my parents home cooking.  I ordered the trout, which was cooked with a brown butter and tarragon sauce.  The portion of fish was large, but the potato (a crispy roasted new potato) was tiny.  The meal also came with perfectly cooked green beans.  No bread was served with the meal (if you're a carb lover, this place might not be for you).  We ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert, which was delicious.  The service was somewhat slow, but the atmosphere was warm and pleasant.  I would definitely say this place is worth trying!
