Best hair salon I've been to.

Kellie gave me the most awesome cut every time. I'm sad I moved out of Davis and have yet to find someone as good as her. Still looking :(

Def worth the money to come here!

I parked in the minuscule parking lot behind Pomegranate and entered a girly paradise. The lobby was super cute, and there was a glass water dispenser in the corner. I sank into one of the cushy chairs to wait for my appointment.

My hairdresser was Larissa, an accented woman with long hair. I was wary because I'd never been to Pomegranate before, but Larissa did not let me down.

She took her time washing my hair, and I found myself relaxing as my long locks were soaking in this delicious smelling shampoo. After she carefully dried my hair, she listened to what I wanted and cut my hair in intervals, so that I could tell her if I wanted it shorter.

What I appreciated about Larissa was that she kept her opinions to herself and really listened to what I wanted. She was very thoughtful and methodical, and she was very easy to talk to! She didn't rush, and I was very happy with my hair cut.

Oh, and there are free bang trims for returning customers! Since I have a fringe, I'll definitely be coming back! I would say that my $60 was fairly well spent for an enjoyable hour and a half in the chair.

First of all - I was able to get an appointment within 24 hours when I called Thanksgiving week.  Yay!

Their salon is very cute; sunny and clean, with cute dogs running around greeting customers.  I have been trying to grow out my very short hair all summer, and finally decided it needed some professional attention.  Kellie was super helpful and only charged me half-price for a quick trim.  Thanks Kellie!

Still not sure if I'll be successful with growing out my hair, but at least I found a great hairstylist in Davis!  Beats driving to SF...

I called in on a Tuesday afternoon after deciding I had to have a my hair cut YESTERDAY and asked to be given a stylist who had experience with my kind of long, straight-but-sometimes-wavy, hair. "Yes, I have someone like that," the receptionist says. When I get there, I'm with Natalie, the only stylist who happens to be working that particular afternoon. Gee, I guess if you only have one stylist, they are the everything specialist.

The scalp massage was nice, Natalie was nice, the haircut was just OK, even though she forgot to cut my bangs there are free bang touch-ups, -1 star for costing $65 (with $5 tip) and then +1 for giving free shampoo samples... total sucker for tiny bottles of product. It was a $30 haircut, not a $60 one. If it was $30, I would come back, but I can get a better haircut 30 minutes away in Sacramento for $60.

I got my hair cut by Hannah, a new stylist there. She offered a free touch up in two weeks to make my cut last longer. I'll definitely take her up on her offer and schedule an appointment afterwards.

The building facade is bland but the inside is well decorated, clean, and very upscale. I asked for a consultation and received great advice and came out a new person.

I saw Stacia for a hair cut. The cut was mediocre and the final styling was nothing great. I went on a saturday and she seemed to be triple booked all day. The whole process  was very rushed and I just didn't get that 'salon" experience. I don't know if this was a very off day and I just got lost in the shuffle or this is how my hair would be cut if she had a ton of time to spend with me. Anyways, I don't think my overall impression of the place matched the hyped up expectations presented here on yelp. For the price the ambiance and experience was not worth it.

PS - my hubby went for a cut by Rich (NICE NICE GUY) but he did not come out with what he wanted....sorry

First of all, I was a walk-in. Ok, technically I did call in first to make sure someone was there who could color my hair before I even left my house, but they assured me someone would be there to do my hair. As soon as I arrived, Olivia was ready to take me. :)
I had just had my hair colored at another Davis salon and was not happy with it. It turned out way too red and I felt like Ariel or a circus clown. Not fun. Olivia (amazinggg!!!! HIGHLY recommended!) worked with me to pick a color that I liked better. After our consultation we agreed on a chocolate/walnut color. Much less bold, but still with some subtle, warm reddish tones.
I cannot stress enough how amazing Olivia is at what she does. She mixed the perfect color, applied it evenly (no patchiness!), and took great care of me while it set. I sipped on hot tea and read People while the color took.
After 15-20 minutes she took me to the washing station. This was probably the best part of the whole process simply because it was SO relaxing and calming. The shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing and it felt like I was getting a scalp massage! I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed. ...Incredible.
We went back to her station and she put another delicious smelling product in my hair (and gave me a sample of it before I left) to keep my waves/curls in line. Then she blow dried and styled my hair in a way that made me feel like a Hollywood star.
The main thing, the full color, was exactly what I wanted. The experience I had at Pomegranate with Olivia was more than exceptional. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.
Price for a full color change: $85- (I didn't get a cut, just a color change.)

A stylist who is no longer at Pomegranate did my wedding hair and one of my bridesmaid's. I was moderately unhappy with my hair on my wedding day, unfortunately. But, I've always liked the haircuts/color that I've gotten from this place.

The salon here is beautiful. I love that they have friendly dogs always around.

I have had my hair cut and colored at Pomegranate Salon three times now and I have been pleased with the results each time.  Stacia did both my cut and color each time.  She is very good at what she does.  She listens and makes constructive suggestions when I come up with something goofy that won't work for my hair type.  I recently decided to cut my hair short - an a-line bob - and it turned out great!  I have received many compliments on my new 'do.  Three of my colleagues are now going to Pomegranate as well - they are happy and their hair looks great too!

My only complaint is that it is on the pricey side.  At the same time, I am happy to pay for a cut and color that I don't need to fix later.

All the staff the salon are very friendly and the place is very nice and pleasant inside. I have coarse Asian hair that's not easy to cut or style. I was amazed the first time Rich cut my hair. He knew right away what kind of style would look good. He's very patient, skilled, and fun to talk to. He's amazingly consistent and takes pride in his work!

Rich has been cutting my hair since March 2007.  I went to school in Davis and after 2 years of cutting my own hair, I bounced from stylist to stylist, never satisfied.

Until I decided to try a little salon that just opened.  And I haven't strayed since.

I don't even live in Davis anymore, I live in Oakland.  The few times a year that I head that way, I schedule a haircut with Rich.  I always come in with pictures, but I never really know what I want.  But my hair always ends up looking great. Rich is very attentive and always takes the time to make sure I'm comfortable with my hair.

Plus, everyone at the salon is super nice and fun.  The new space is gorgeous, and I'll probably continue to drive to Davis for haircuts.

I have been getting my hair cut by Rich for two years now, and even though I've moved to Berkeley (where I'm sure there are a ton of great hair stylists) I absolutely refuse to let anyone else cut my hair, because I know that nobody else will give it the kind of care and attention that Rich does. Worth mentioning: I have very short hair, and Rich is amazing at doing short cuts - I don't ever need to bring in a picture or even have a clear idea of what I want out of the appointment, he can take one look at my shaggy grown-out hair and know exactly what it needs, and I always get compliments from perfect strangers on it in the weeks after the cut. I barely style my hair so this is quite a statement.

Just an example of why this place is awesome: Once I went in for an appointment when my hair was a bit longer and I needed a change but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted that change to be. Rich started fiddling around with it for a while. He had a decent idea of what would look good and match my face and maintenance habits, but when he was done it didn't quite fit. His wife Stacia (another stylist) came in and took over for a while, making some minor alterations but nothing dramatic, and then when she finished Rich and I had a bit better idea of what I was looking for and he ended up giving me an adorable new hairstyle that I loved. I was so blown away by how attentive the staff was during this period, they seemed totally unwilling to let me leave with anything less than an amazing cut. I'd never had such great service.

Everyone else who works here is also great, very friendly and fun to chat with when you're waiting for an appointment. There are usually incredibly sweet and adorable dogs chilling in the waiting area, and the staff will usually offer you tea or coffee while you wait.

They do art+music shows to support local artists on occasional Fridays, although they started these after I moved so I haven't been able to make it to any. However the walls are always decked out with great paintings.

All in all, great environment, great staff, amazing service and the best haircuts I have ever had.

Not going to lie, for guys this place may seem "over the top". But Rich does a wonderful job and always impresses me. I'm a student at UC Davis and made a special trips up to Davis from the Bay Area this past summer to get my hair cut here. The online booking system is also convenient.

Additionally, the prices are also very reasonable for the Men's Cut. The free 3-week trim is clutch, and adds to the value of their services.

For the last couple of years I've been going to Style Lounge since I heard it was the best in the area.   It wasn't until I was force to find someplace new, I gave Pomegranate a try.   But, first things first.... I'm really picky.   I've been to $80+ mens hair salons and a bounced quite a bit around the $30 to $40 range.  Typically I ask if the stylist has had experience in men's hair and asian hair in particular.  The stylist had experience in both.   All in all, was it the best hair cut I've gotten, no one by my guy in LA does it the way I like it (but he's had years with me) --   Pomegranate, IMHO is the best I've had in Davis so far.

My experience at Pom Salon was just so-so. I had my hair cut by Hannah and it looked okay. I asked for a lot of sexy layers and she didn't put many in and it looked kind of boxy (more a "shelf"). It wasn't terrible, but I was disappointed in the cut, especially for the money.

She seemed to really know a lot about coloring and gave me some great recommendations including one about demi-permanent color which is temporary. It was great to know this was an option since I don't want to go dark permanently and lifting dark color is apparently very difficult. I've never had any hairdressers mention this before (and I've inquired a lot). I appreciated that she was thinking about the effects this would have on my hair and not just diving into permanent color! So, based on my experience, I recommend her as a colorist, she really seems to know her business, but not for cut.

Pomegranate Salon is the best in Davis. Stacia is amazing and always knows exactly what my curly hair needs. A haircut from Stacia is worth every penny in my opinion! I love that it is pet friendly and there is always a four-legged friend to great you when you arrive!

The salon is a pretend to a high level type mostly with the $ charged.  I have tried 2 stylist there and their color is great, but hair cuts is quite variable.  I have seen Rich's work and besides being charming, he is not a good stylist... sorry dude. My friend liked to be in his chair to chat with him but came out with a ridiculous cut!
Tara has a good hand but did not listen to what I asked for 2 times. Her cuts used to have a potential, but she has gotten more careless. She is NOT a precision cutter - my friend is her regular customer and she has had to go home to correct the ridiculously uneven parts... And my last cuts were super uneven - not intended! I am not sure that is worth $60?
Last try with Larissa - a pleasure to be in her hands, she is thorough, listens to the needs of the customer.  My cut was super after blow drying, all kinds of products and such, but I have to yet again struggle with it at home...
I will try to visit Larissa ones again because I feel that I could find my style with her.

I had my hair cut by Rich, and he is King of the Pixie Cuts. I went in the day before leaving for a conference and he turned my shaggy, grown-out mess into a lighter-than-air coif that looks good even when I fall out of bed. I'll be back.
