This is absolutely my favorite place to eat in Redmond. That said, Pomegranate is a relatively quirky place to eat and I can understand why reviews can be hit and miss. Here are some things you should know before you go to Pomegranate (as I am a programmer they will be formatted as a bullet list):
*From the outside it looks When you walk in, you will be greeted by a baked goods counter which doubles as an espresso bar. If you're looking for a seat, you'll end up in a seat for something which feels a bit like a commons house. Crossed with a wine bar. With a bar tucked away.
*The menu is equally eclectic.
*Portions and value for money can vary dramatically from dish to dish. In general, simple things tend to be inexpensive, suitable for sharing, and have broad appeal while more specialized or difficult to prepare things tend to be smaller portions and suit narrower tastes.
*If you want value for money, look at their flat bread offerings.
*Brunch items in general tend to be one of the places where they excel.
*Your impression of the place will likely depend heavily on whether what you order matches your personal tastes. I've generally enjoyed their breakfast items. The egg sandwich is my go-to meal and I order it frequently. When my brother and I went he ordered angel food french toast, which was a relatively large portion, tasted fantastic, and he enjoyed it immensely. I ordered a quiche type thing which was expensive, small, and slightly overwhelmed by the sauce that came on it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't even remotely what I expected after having their other food.
*Their coffee is good and their coffee based alcoholic drinks delightful. As are their other mixed drinks. I can't really comment authoritatively on their wine selection.
*The baked goods I've had have all been perfect.
I highly recommend Pomegranate. If you're at all into breakfast or diner foods I'd recommend that your first visit consist of their flat bread breakfast sandwich and one of their morning pick-me-up coffee drinks to establish a baseline for the place. If you go in the evening one of their flat breads is a good place to start. Explore the rest of the menu from there.
Well. . . we went back.
Aaaand, I'm sorry we did. I still just don't get it. We stopped by for lunch. I had a flank steak burrito. The meat was very tough and hard for me to chew. I couldn't bite through it. A fork didn't get me far either. Also, I'm not a huge fan of cilantro but I can take it in small doses. On this particular burrito, however, it seemed as though someone rolled up a ball of cilantro about the size of a tablespoon and left it there for me to discover after about four bites. That was my last bite.
The hubby got a burger. I tasted it. Meh. His bun got soggy and fell off the burger in pieces about halfway through. I'll still leave a star for the flatbread and a star for the baked treats.
Maybe, just maybe, I will give brunch a try. But only if someone else buys.

Yah, we weren't too impressed with this place. Kinda let down, actually. We came here for dinner a… Read more »
It looks boring from the outside, because its in a building that looks like it belongs in an office park. But once you get inside, you can see that the place is spectacular. The menu changes frequently, and the desserts are heavenly.
I would recommend this place for dates and when you want a yummy creative meal without spending a ton.
We had lunch there today - food is delicious as usal - the environment super -the waiter a TRAGEDY. She kept forgetting about us. I mean the basics! A plate. Coloring for the little one, coffee!!! We had to hunt her down to get a coffee and fork. At some point I had to walk to her podium (she loves the bill part) and ask for a plate that she forgot to bring - she was very unhappy to see me - I never found a resturant where u aren't welcome and so your business!!!
I drove from Belltown to Redmond to have dinner with a friend at Pomegranate. We were there on a Saturday around 7pm and it was bustling, and we were seated quickly. I had the halibut and it was a bit dry and light on sauce. The bread pudding was recommended by the waiter, and it was very good. The real standout was the pomegranate mojito, with crushed pomegranates and mint leaves. My friend tells me that their drink menu changes so you may not be able to count on having it on the menu. If I'm ever visiting my friend in Redmond again, I'd go to Pomegranate again. Otherwise, it's not a destination.
I had read about Pomegranate Bistro in the Seattle magazine and had been wanting to try it for quite some time. Well, last night my husband and I got around to going there. It was quite busy but we managed to snag a table for two quite easily by calling 30 minutes ahead and putting our name on the waitlist (they don't take reservations). There were quite a few people waiting to be seated so I was glad that I called ahead as we were seated immediately. So far, so good.
We started out with the Spinach salad and firebread and both were good, but nothing to get too excited about. My husband ordered the rib eye steak and I ordered the fish tacos. My husband made the mistake of ordering his steak "medium rare but more on the rare side" and his meat came up brown through and through. It was definitely overcooked and the portion size was very small, considering the price tag of $31 for his entree. Needless to say, my husband was very disappointed. My fish tacos came and were fine but on the bland side. Plus, they didn't use double tortillas so by the time I got to my second taco, it was soggy and my tortilla was broken so I had a tough time managing to eat it with just my hands. I've had much, much better tacos at the taco truck in South Seattle for a mere $1.25 per taco, vs. the $18 that I paid for my 3 fish tacos at PB.
Based on the quality of food we had to that point, we didn't even contemplate ordering dessert.
All in all, for the amount of money we paid, we would NOT bother going back to PB in future. It was overpriced for the quality of what we got. We certainly don't mind paying top dollar for really good food but we felt like we did the former but failed to receive the latter.
Had brunch again, this time I opted for the waffle and of course the grits! The waffle was so good, real whipped cream and berries on top. The grits are to die for, so creamy - the best $2 you will spend! Great brunch spot, not to be missed!

I really like Pomegranate. I have a 1.5 year old daughter and they are friendly with kids. It has close quarters so the parents may feel more awkward bringing in kids than the other diners or staff.
I really like hte Macaroni & Cheese and the Firebread is awesome! A nice place to go. Parking can be tricky when its busy but the wait is never long
The food at Pomegranate is *okay*, but I have to say - if they're going to have a window into the industrial kitchen of the catering business, they should remind their folks working in front of the window that there are customers watching. While we were there, there was someone preparing a cake of some sort on a tray pan and the lack of hygeine exhibited by this individual was appalling. My wife was completely disgusted and we vowed never to return to place that allows that kind of thing to go on.
The Oregon Pink Shrimp Flatbread is very tender and olive & goat cheese topping gives a nice balance of flavor. The Molasses glazed pork ribs are off the bone tender. However, the glaze is taste burned. Matchstick carrot slaw needs some help. The ginger molasses cookie sandwich, consist of two chewy cookie and home made marshmallow filling, is absolutely delicious.
The restaurant is very charming. There is a big picture windows looking into their catering kitchen which is a major plus for me.
I took a star off from the rating because of the burned rib glaze and carrot slaw.
The name of this place sings to me - I love pomegranates. The brunch in this place sings to my tummy. I even think I am ready to take this relationship to the next level and try dinner here.
The fire-breads (especially spinach-tomato-mushroom) on the menu are exceptional . Ginger Lemon Oatcakes tingle my taste buds. They change their menu every season, and that alone gains a lot of respect for the chef. Oh, and if you are from the south, they have grits on the menu! :)
I took my dad here to celebrate Father's day today and we had a great time and really enjoyed the whole experience :) I HEART BRUNCH [and my dad!]
They don't take reservations, but they have "call ahead" seating. I called when we were leaving my house and they put us on the waiting list. By the time we arrived to a lobby packed full of customers, we only had to wait 1-2 minutes to be seated. WIN!
We ordered fresh-squeezed orange and tangerine juice. TANGERINE! It was a little more subtle and sweeter tasting than regular orange juice. Only $2 for a glass. We even got a second tangerine :) They also, cleverly, offer fresh pomegranate juice!
I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict. It consisted of two perfectly poached eggs on smoked salmon and cheesy scallion biscuits, drizzled with hollandaise. It was delicious! One of the best benedicts I've ever had.
My dad ordered the "breakfast plate." It comes with your choice of bacon or sausage, potatoes or grits, two eggs, and toast. The scrambled eggs and rosemary hash browns were awesome. The crust of the toast was so hard that it was nearly inedible and the sausage was pretty dry, but overall, it was a tasty plate.
They had a lot of other interesting items such as pulled bourbon braised beef, morels and egg scramble, and breakfast burritos, but next time I'm here for brunch, I'm ordering the ginger lemon oatcakes. YUM!
The atmosphere is great. The service is friendly and attentive. Lots of windows and a cute little bakery in the front with cookies, coffee, sandwiches, and dessert. Definitely take advantage of the call-ahead seating on weekends for brunch or dinner. It'll save you lots of time. Pomegranate manages to be classy without being pretentious and adorable at the same time. I will be back soon!

Best place in Redmond for brunch, by far! Some may think that's not really a compliment considering Redmond's lack of culinary choices, but I think it would do just as well on the other side of the lake.
Saturday Brunch included a smoking hot bloody mary (a little too spicy for my friend who couldn't even finish hers - suck it up, Hayley!) a cuban braised pork sandwich with yucca chips and a side of grits. Food coma. It was yummy, not too expensive, and it lasted for lunch and dinner which is always a time/money saver.
Our server was pleasant, and despite the screaming child at the table next to us and his parents who sat silently trying to ignore him, we couldn't complain. We were both glad though, that we weren't seated at the long, communal table in the middle of the restaurant - we're not foodie enough to mingle Corson Building style just yet.
Can't wait to try dinner!
Been here a couple of times and the firebread is really good, but the brunch and the rest of the food is pretty typical american fare. Had the grits, eggs, and they were pretty typical.
Go here for brunch. It's really pretty good for brunch on the weekends. I'll definitely be back.
Avoid it for all other meals. Lunch is fine but way overpriced and dinner is absolute crap.
Bottom line: it's too bad this place isn't just a brunch place!
This is a great neighborhood place with fantastic service, great food and wonderful drinks. They will remember who you are, who your kids are, and greet you by name. True regulars, I think, get some special treatment. Kids are doted on, and placed in front of the catering window to watch the pastry chefs at work. I do miss some menu items, like the creamy tomato basil soup and the halibut with semolina.
Avoid the vegetarian stuff here, except the "pie" (quiche), which is to die for. Meat and fish is consistently good.
Very nice place for lunch & brunch. I've been there 4 times so far, 3 times with friends and we all enjoyed the experience. The food always were beautifully prepared & presented and were always tasty.
We especially love the salads & fire breads. I was there with 3 other people the other day and we each ordered different fire breads. All of us loved our food. The sweet tea and Earl Gray latte were also great.
This may be the best kept secret in Seattle. I drove past this 4.5 star place for years, never realizing Lisa Dupar had a restaurant. One night I was attending a wedding with incredible food at Tacoma's Museum of Glass. I asked the server who worked for Pomegranate by day, and she told me Lisa Dupar Catering had a restaurant called Pomegranate Bistro located in Redmond.
Afterwards, I became addicted especially on Sunday mornings! My favorite dish is the "Low country shrimp & North Carolina stone ground
grits with scrambled eggs & toast". OMG, this is so good, even if it's about 15000 calories.
The bistro has a small pastry and coffee counter where they sell these North Carolina stone ground grits and many other treats.
Dinner is excellent as well. Try Lisa's Seafood Sausage and whatever you choose, order a side of the Firebread. The menu is seasonal and if you frequent this place, you'll notice Lisa changes the menu depending on availability fresh ingredients, and the Seattle climate.
This place is small and when they are packed (Every Sunday morning), it's slow. Bring some patience as it's not your server's fault if you don't get fed within 10 minutes. This is a far cry from Red Robin in terms of quality, so be patient.
I had heard about this place through the chamber of commerce that I belong to. I finally got a chance to go and try it out. My wife and I were greeted quickly and sat equally as fast. I must say that the waiter started out slow but picked up as the lunch progressed. I had the white fish tacos and a cup of the dungeoness crab gazpacho. Excellent!!! times 2!! I absolutely loved them. The fire bread is awesome and I am not sure where the taste buds were the day that the one reviewer had it. They apparently liked the waffle better then the fire bread. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and was not impressed, I felt the same. It was good but it didn't stand out like others I have had. The waiter brought us a slice of carrot cake for dessert, this is after we had stuffed ourselves with lunch, without us ordering it. He said that we were great customers and he bought us the cake. He totally got on my wife's good side with that gesture. She is in the restaurant industry and knows what it is like and how it should be when you go to any establishment. I on the other hand, go for the food. Okay the service is about 10% of what I rate, but i am there for the food and how it tastes, looks, and costs.
All in all I think that this place is pretty good. I suggest that if you are EXTREMELY hungry, look at there menu before you go so that you know what you want when you arrive so that you do not have to decided there on the spot. It was busy, but really a pleasant experience. We will definitely be back there at least another 3 times in the next year to try the Fall, Winter, and Spring menu.
PS. The "Pom Fizzy" needs more fizz, but is mighty tasty
Never had a bad meal here but have never been blown away either. Fun to watch the caterers doing prep work through the window. It is usually busy and when the room is filled, it can be noisy. Nice decor. Cookies are yummy.
I went here recently with my college pal and his family (which includes his adorable albeit occasionally obnoxious 22 month old. The place was a hit all around, the three adults enjoyed their entrees with Gusto, and I appreciated that they had Lagunitas IPA (In bottles, but that's better than nothing) after my 2 hours flight up there! The baby also enjoyed her food, at least the mac and cheese which she pretty much devoured, which seems to be high marks for her. The carrots were a bit too hard for her, and she didn't go for the home made gummy bears, but that was a win for her father and I!
All things considered this is a great place to go if you have a small child with you, especially since most of your other choices are the big national chains - judged against those, Pomegranate is 5 stars!
This little place was great for brunch. Totally unassuming from the street, the little red awning is a speck of color in the dull, grey colored office building facade. However inside it is bright and cheery, warm tones of red and yellow pop out of every corner. The restaurant looks into Lisa Dupar's catering warehouse, so while you're dining, you can see chefs puttering around in there doing their chef thing.
First, you have to try the Savannah hot puffs rolled in cinnamon with warm vanilla sauce...SOO GOOD! The texture of the puffs is part is great, sweet on the outside, warm and melty on the inside, I wish we'd ordered more! I had the spinach, tomato, mushroom, white cheddar, and scrambled egg firebread for breakfast. Imagine a pizza with scrambled egg + topppings on top. Sounds bizarre, but it was really good. Way too much food for one sitting, so I was able to bring half my brunch home for tomorrow.
In addition to the food, my friend ordered a bloody Marys, which she raved about for their extra-spicy horseradishy goodnessh, complete with blue cheese stuffed green olives.
This place was pretty great, I just wish I didn't have to drive all the way to Redmond for another great brunch place. Plop one down in Seattle and I'm there!
It can be tricky to find a good- I mean really good- lunch place on the East Side. There is a lot of hit-or-miss, but Pomegranate Bistro is a sure thing. Located near the 510 entrance off of Bel-Red, Pomegranate is a great place to stop for a relatively healthy bite. The lunch "firebread" (their fancy name for pizza), sandwiches, and salads are around $10, but if you stop by Mon-Fri from 3-5pm, there is a really great $4 "happy afternoon" menu. Dinner prices are much higher, at around $20/plate. Luckily, the lunch menu is also offered in the evenings, for those of us on a budget.
The ambiance is difficult to describe. The style is somewhat austere with a feminine appeal. High ceilings, and deep wooden tables centered around large view windows that capture the prep area for the owner's catering work. Meanwhile, your food is prepared in the far corner in a separate, open bar-like area. The coffee and dessert bar near the front entrance will definitely tempt you, with fresh made cupcakes, pies, and cookies.
In all honestly, I couldn't quite get a hold on the Pomegranate style- it seemed to lack cohesion. But the food and service were on par, and that's really what matters to me.
Took the family to Pomegranate last night for dinner. We also came once before, for my wife's birthday last December.
Very family-friendly place. The service was friendly yet not overbearing. The scenery is a bit different. It's nice inside, but you can see through a large window into the cooking school that is onsite here.
The food was very good for the price. For about $10 to $15, you can get a very good firebread pizza. The roasted corn chowder was also excellent. And the coconut cream pie was outstanding. We will definitely come back to this place.
I'd passed this place a million times and was never sure about it because of the location and rather uninteresting exterior, but once you get inside it's very open and welcoming with a large window showing diners the catering prep area. I'd love to be in there when they're working in the back! We were a party of 6 and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table; it seems to be a popular place. We went only for dessert and coffee and were pleased with the food. We were wising there were more "from the case" choices because by the time we got there they were out of pie for the day. I got the bread pudding..delicious!! A great size for one or to share. We weren't very impressed with our waitress who kept putting the wrong food/drinks in front of people and didn't check on us very often after our food arrived. I would still go back, though, and try lunch or dinner. There were numerous tables with kids so I'd say it's family friendly, but nice enough for a night out. They also accept call-ahead seating requests. Check out Pomegranate!
I didn't enjoy this place one bit. It's a Stepford Wives joint for bored Microsoft wives.
-Suggest you go in, grab a cookie and coffee, and leave. Don't bother with the restaurant, but don't miss the cookies.
-I didn't have to wait, so maybe people are realizing it's on the downhill.
-The menu, what a clusterbomb. It's like reading the side of the cereal box and just giving up: just give me the corn flakes, please. Is it appetizers, entress, drinks? Nope! It's small plates, big plates, and I forget what else. Are there titles to the entries? Nope! Just ingredient lists with bolded words that suggest what it might be. Total uppity fakeness.
-Ordered Sangria on suggestion "we have a nice sangria today!" and got a hot version served in a brandy snifter! What? Did I order mulled wine?
-Soup was good, balanced sweet potato and something else. I liked.
-Calamari artichoke thingy was OK.
-Atmosphere is just broken, very loud, a bistro in a warehouse. It's like eating in Costco with pretty pictures of pomegranates on the wall, BUT YOU CAN SEE THEM MAKING THE FEWD! OOOH! OOOH! OK, really not that exciting. And they're so far back there that they could be playing board games for all you know.
-Staff is dumb, I mean really dumb. You ask a question and it's not "I don't know", it's not even "I don't have an opinion" it's like "I don't speak English dumb." They respond, but it's clear they have no interest in your question.
-Firebread. How silly. It's dough with stuff on top, whatever stuff is "in season" (can we be more fake?). It's not even good pizza. Someone said Pagliacci (and I like Pagliacci pizza), and it's no where near that good. Give me the Pagliacci Primo any day (and I won't pay $18) for it.
-Price: ridiculous. Overpriced doesn't even get close.
-The worse part is that it's one of those restaurants that caters to a particular clientele: yuppie wives. Wear your best shoes, girls, because this is gunna be a riot act.
I think they should stick to baking.
Great cookies.
A brunch delight. Everything was fresh and healthy on the menu, except for mine, because I don't believe in healthy brunches. "Sanitary Landfill"...."Healthy Brunch". Come on now...so I took my own advice:
Waffles and Fried Chicken. Side of Grits. Sausage and Mozz flatbread.
The waffles were waffles, nothing to write home about indeed. They were good...but they were waffles. I actually made better waffles with the self-waffle machine in Leavenworth while being my tourist self (again...no fanny pack).
The fried bird was great, because after all, it is fried bird. Nice and crispy thin crust on the outside, nice juicy bird meat on the inside. The grits complemented it perfectly. Tasty, thick, no runs, and lots.
The flatbread was pretty decent. Have had better, have had worse. I'd get it again. I'm just glad they aren't calling it pizza, because IT'S FLATBREAD! Kudos to Pomegranate for not false advertising.
Well, I saw the recommendation on Ruby's Slipper on their list of good restaurants for kids. So, I thought that we would take the kids and check this place out. Let me tell you, it may be good for kids but it is even better for the grownups. What place has all of it's kid's meals called
T.V. Dinners and has mocktails for kids and can serve up a fantastic menu to boot. My son had a bacon, egg and white cheese sandwich served on a cibata roll, I had the chicken sopapilla's with lime salsa and a fire roasted chipoltle pepper, and my wife had the garlic tenderloin dish and let me tell you everything was terrific. I am so glad we tried this place and look forward to returning next time and explore more of the extensive menu. When in Redmond, check out the Pomegranate Bistro and you will not be sorry.
Maybe I should try brunch next time because our dinner was pretty much OK.
It was pretty cool to walk from the strip mall looking storefront into a really cool looking Bistro with an great view of the kitchen and the host was really nice and we didn't have to wait.
But.... I wasn't really impressed with the whole firebread thing, I mean, it's just flat bread with some stuff on it. It was pretty yummy but I kind of felt like I was eating a Pagliacci pizza.
We did have a really good tomato salad though!
I've been here for dinner- years ago before they won awards. I went for brunch today and boy I'm glad I talked my boyfriend out of Denny's. This place is awesome. The selection of food, service and atmosphere. BF got the smoke salmon eggs benedict which he gobbled up quite quickly and I got the firebread mushroom spinach egg pizza thingy- AMAZING. Good sized portions- I almost finished mine (with a little help)- but not so much food that it's a waste or that you stuff yourself silly.
I'll have to try them for dinner again sometime- I'm confident it will be great!!
This place was gooood. Cute place. You can see the catering company that is partnered (or owned?) with the restaurant hard at work from your seat. My breakfast plate was good and my boyfriend enjoyed his scramble. This place was recommended to me by my sister and now I will recommend it to anyone else looking for a good breakfast/brunch.
Thanks Yelpers, this was a great recommendation.
Staff was friendly, food was delicious, and it was a great atmosphere.
We had the fried chicken, and a few small plates and they were great.
We're from out of town, so it was a little odd to get to but once we found it we were happy.
I have been to Pomegranate Bistro for breakfast and lunch and will keep going back! Good food with a mix of basic ingredients plus some surprises. Great coffee drinks! Small enough to be intimate but big enough that you don't feel crowded.
Stop by the coffee bar on the way out for a treat. This place is a gem in Redmond!
I really enjoy Pomegranate. This place is an great pick for casual dining or for the serious foodie. Simple, straightforward combinations of quality ingredients which are innovative without being a clash of flavors for shock value. Every dish we've had is well-executed, from salads to flatbreads to fried chicken. (Even though the fried chicken wasn't to my taste, there was no arguing it wasn't well-prepared and flavorful.) Their wine list received Wine Spectator's Award for Excellence, again everything to do with food or beverage has a ring of excellence to it.
As good as the food is, Pomegranate also gets what good service is all about. Professional yet warm, informed yet unpretentious, attentive yet not a nuisance. Service here is so good I wish more servers / waiters / waitresses in our area would visit & take notes. I don't know whether all of Pomegranate's servers hit the same level of excellence, but from our handful of trips here it's clear folks have been well-trained.
Lisa Dupar, Johnathan Zimmer & Co. must believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well, because it shows down to the last detail. True there's no scenic view and the atmosphere is not ultra-posh, but how can you snipe at excellence in such an affordable and accessible package?
Everything here is very good at this award winning restaurants that catered Microsoft Bill Gates wedding but recently nothing has been knocking my socks off here, but absolute have to get a flat bread pizza, The Apps are good and if your not in the mood of the pizza (i don't know why) but the main dishes are very good. Their deserts are great, though they took my favorite one off their menu that was the Nuttabutter cookies with warm chocolate soup for dipping but this time i tryied their S'mors that was not as good but was enjoyable and to sum it up you have to go to their brunch too that is very good
Food. Very good
Serive: Helpful
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Never had a bad meal and GREAT kids meals too!
Very nearly gave it 5 stars, but I think I'll have to come back and try it a few more times before I'm comfortable with that rating. The food was quite good; we had a side of firebread and the mac and cheese to start, and the cheeseburger and tilapia as entrees. The service was initially excellent, although our waitress disappeared for a while at the end of our meal, so we waited longer than we would've liked to get the check.
The firebread was pretty good, although much better before it cooled. I had to try the mac and cheese, and wasn't disappointed. The portion size was larger than it looked, and was pretty ideal for the two of us. The cheeseburger came out closer to medium-well than medium-rare, but was otherwise good. I prefer my fries more crispy, but besides that, they were fine. However, the most interesting part of my meal was the homemade ketchup! It grew on me as I ate it, but I've never had ketchup from scratch before, and it was very strange at first. The little I had of the tilapia tasted pretty good to me; the sauce was flavorful, and the fish cooked nicely.
I definitely appreciated the serving sizes here. The portions are probably a touch bigger than necessary, but I like how there isn't too much food on the plate. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the appetizers, the "pizza", and the dessert.
Heard a lot about this place and finally paid a visit last Saturday. The embiance is really simple and yet nicely done. Each coffee drinker gets his/her own tiny milk bottle (really cute!!). I ordered one of the firebreads with spinach, tomato, mushroom and a side order of waffle. The firebread wasn't as good as I hope, it could have been better without making it like a pizza equivalent... I didn't enjoy it as much. The waffle, however, was really good. It came with fresh berries and whip cream. I finished the waffle way before I finished the firebread. Their coffee is good too! I would go back there again.. just won't order the firebread.
Contrary to some reviewers, both my girlfriend and I loved this place. And I can be a picky eater if you see some of my other reviews. We came here for dinner so we weren't in any rush. Service I found was fine, the ambiance was pleasing and the food was superb. Portions were good and prices were reasonable. This was our 2nd time here...for me in Redmond and compared to the alternatives, this is my favorite dinner spot.
Just as I thought Redmond is and always will be the forever-under-construction town that it is, Lisa Dupar gracefully planted Pomegranate on the edge of the city. Call me an idiot, no really...I live literally 5 minutes (without traffic and those stupid yellow/green/red lights, probably 1 minute)...and I've never been here until 2 days ago. Yah, I know, it's almost like having a $100 bill on my driveway for a year and I just picked it up yesterday, no? As a general rule, Sylvia's obsessive compulsive kicks in when I find a new favorite place - I revisit within days.
Until the moment I stepped foot in Pomegranate, I've always been turned off by the outside, it just looks like a deli/sandwich place for workaholics around. But quite to my surprise, it was another story inside.
I don't know about you, but wide window displays of kitchens always come off as a confident brag - "I know what I'm doing, and I don't worry for a second that you're watching, because you'll never learn my secret" kinda brag. Not to mention the kitchen stays clean, for me to witness. I'll eat pig intestines here if it was on the menu.
I had a c.l.t. on my first visit. While it was decent, my friend's pulled bbq pork was what made my meal complete. It was so tender and flavorful. I suggested to my friend on my second visit, and they all LOVED and moaned about it. I had the Benedict with lox today, it was probably the best I've ever had. (I'm always open to suggestion if you have a favorite joint for good Benedicts)
Little things add up. Such as the fact that their plates, napkins and TOILET paper are all labeled Pomegranate. The owner certainly took the time and money to make sure you remember where you're eating at.
p.s. There is a picture of Matt Damon in the lady's room that says something along the lines of "I can't wait to try your place" signed by him. What more do you want to prove its worth?
Update. Dinner with Mom last night. Masala spiced braised lamb shank with leeks, plum tomatoes & saffron on semolina gnocchi; arugula, proscuitto, pecorino, truffle & French sea salt Firebread; Grape Expectations; star anise creme brule. Firebread was good albeit a bit on the salty side. Lamb was very tender, and flavorful. I requested to take the dessert to go as we were in a hurry to go home. Since I live 5 minutes away, I suggested that I'll return the ramekin the next day. "I'm not worried about the ramekin" he said.
