The exterior of this very expensive store was a little intimidating to me at first. I actually went in there for school (fashion. duh.) We had to walk around all four floors, take pictures, and write about everything we saw. This store being the flagship gave me an idea of what to expect. Lo and behold, the staff was knowledgeable about everything in the store, the interior was exquisite, and of course the clothes were nothing but perfect in every way.
I thought the staff would end up being a bit snobby, but I was wrong. I have never been to a store with ALL of the employees being so courteous, with the exception of the third floor ladies. They were sort of mean... acting as though they were better than to help the fashion students who were walking around the store and not buying anything.
The manager of this RL store was very nice. The following week I even saw him in a magazine for his well known parties in Chicago.
The interior was very manly. The dark, wood grand staircase, the Louis Vuitton trunks that sat on top of many cabinets, and the polo accessories is what made the store so unique. It looks like they used only the best props with the best quality. I love it.
I enjoyed my "stay" there. I went in there recently and bought a sweater for my dog and she loves it :)
I'm hoping to buy The Ricky Bag when I get the $17,000 that it costs..
A+ for everything, RL. No store can beat this.
The fact that this is the BIGGEST Ralph Lauren Store in the world, you can find almost every product RL sells. When you walk in, you're greeted with the best service ever. They were very polite and informative with every product they had. I loved how well dress all of the employees were. The only downside to shopping here is that you can find the exact same item at Macy's or even Nordstrom for half the price!
This is the most impressive Ralph Lauren store I have been to. I found the design to be old-world elegance and charm. It feels more like a boutique department store than a store with locations all over the United States of America.
The most impressive aspect of the store was the vintage jewelry and antique selection. I have only seen Linda Morgan, the buyer for the collection's pieces at Gump's, in San Francisco. She is a unique eye and I could easily spot the collection she put together. This collection is bigger than at Gump's. She specializes in English pieces, as she is English, but also has some impressive French and other European pieces.
If you are visiting Chicago or live there, I think this is a great store to buy clothing or a unique gift. This store made me want to move to Chicago. I really did love Chicago. I could see myself living there.
I've been in here more times than I can remember. I love the cozy homey feeling inside, the winding stair case and the beautiful clothes. I actually love the women's clothing much more than the men's. I am not one to be super preppy, but I do enjoy some of the dress items and the cashmere... oh the cashmere.
Minus one star for being jam packed all the time with tourists. Minus another star for snooty service - especially the gentleman on the second floor who looked completely disheveled. He was also having a conversation with two other associates when we walked by him and asked us if we needed assistance after they finished their conversation... I HATE when sales people do that.
We didn't find what we were looking for... NEXT!
Wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. Fantastic food. Great for anything. Casual yet classy. Fancy, yet fun. Awful parking around there - cab it, for sure!
Fabulous store. From the windows being the best on Michigan Avenue to the front door entrance of seasonal classics. Stop to view the vintage one of a kind jewelry and watches always fill my senses and give me the joy of antiquing. Then up to my ultimate favorite Design Resource the 4th Floor, HOME Department. Tina your a doll! Of course a stop on the women's floor is always enjoyable however the young snobby girls need to realize they choose the floor versus attending Vassar. Online is so there for us you know darlings:)
Did you know that the Chicago RL is the largest one? We totally beat the flagship store. And have you seen the furnishings? Beautiful leather chairs beckon to be your next big investment piece. The clothing is preppy, but what do you expect. I love the custom polo program so you can break mr. lauren's rules and have a black polo with a navy insignia.
I was shopping here once looking for home furninshings when I asked for assistance. Not only was I given the cold shoulder, but she walked to the next room and started talking shit about me. Hey! That's not how you treat a lady.
