Guinness and Schmidicks on tap in a spacious Irish bar/restaurant. Happy hour food (chilli fries, wings, chicken strips)- not too bad. Good place to go after work with friends. Good times.
Park on the street b/c there is only valet service.
Poitin is the Irish word for home-made whiskey. It is pronounced (potcheen).
Wife, friend and I decided to stop by here for lunch on Saturday. We were heading to Target and were in the area.
The place is a clean, nice looking Irish pub. There were quite a few people hanging around the bar watching college football.
My wife was unhappy with the iced tea. She said it tasted like coffee. She dislikes coffee. She confirmed with the waitress that they make the iced tea in the same device as their coffee. Waitress took her iced tea away and didn't charge us for it.
My friend started with French Onion Soup. Nothing special.
My wife and I shared the appetizer of Buffalo wings. They were served with blue cheese, raw carrots and celery. The sauce was pretty good. The wings were slightly undercooked.
I had a Poitin Stil burger with cheddar cheese and sauteed mushrooms. The burger was decent. It was served with lettuce, tomato, pickle, cole slaw and french fries. The fries were the best part. They were hot and crunchy.
Wife had the french dip au jus. The sliced roast beef was served on toasted garlic bread served with a cup of its own juice and french fries. My fries, and some of hers, tasted pretty good when dunked. I just sent her an instant message for feeback on her sandwich. She replied "delish really really good".
My friend had the turkey club. He seemed to like it.
No dessert.
Never ate the food here, but i like coming here for a drink at night on the weekend. Usually the crowd is pretty cool and friendly, and the bartenders are always quick to get you a drink. Sometimes the music is great...it's a 50/50 shot depending on the night. Good place to meet up with a big group of friends and have a good time. Parking can be a pain, so i recommend using the valet service. Never a cover, and the drink prices aren't overly expensive.
