We order from this place at work and I love it. You can totally configure your pocket ad remove all the fatty stuff and have a healthy option should you wish.
Arrives hot, fresh and tasty and at a good price.
OMG!!! Can I say good... I mean I tried the pockets Hyde Park and it does not touch the pockets Dearborn. Maybe because I was new to the cuisine that I had gotten that was almost two years ago.
When I discovered this lil gem while wondering to SRO, I immediately stopped today. I have my share of grease and high cholesterol foods during the week. Now, to have a fresh option other than Salad Spinners and Chipotle is great (I love them both by the way!)
I give this place two thumbs way up! They have friendly service, good selection, minimum grease, clean atmosphere, and good prices....
Finally a healthy place by my office where I can get a real lunch.
The pencils and papers at the front are for "building your own salads and pockets" in case anyone was wondering. That's definitely the route I take as sometimes I can be a picky eater (hey, at least I admit it!) Check off the ingredients you want and hand it off!
The pockets bread is absolutely amazing! Definitely fresh. Be warned, however, a "pocket" isn't a pita as I thought it might be, it's really just a salad struggling to fit inside some bread. So not really a sandwich while "on-the-go" like I maybe thought.
Last night I ordered from the new South Loop Pockets location for the first time. For many months I had bemoaned the fact that the other Pockets locations don't deliver to my neighborhood. But now that the South Loop Pockets has opened, I can enjoy Pockets in the comfort of my own home without leaving it.
I ordered online and received a 10% discount for being a first-time customer at the South Loop location. The Web site suggested a delivery time of one hour, but my food arrived in about 30 minutes or less. I was duly impressed. I was also impressed by the phone call from Pockets within seconds of my order placement to confirm whether I wanted spinach and spring mix, or just spinach on one of my pockets. Nice touch. And finally, when the delivery person arrived, he was friendly and efficient--and completely human. So often, delivery boys seem like droids, with some exceptions. Well, this delivery boy was personable and genuine--probably a student from the hood.
I will be ordering from Pockets South Loop again, and probably very soon. My partner and I enjoyed our food and didn't have to drive anywhere to get it. My partner was a Pockets virgin, and he enjoyed it. I think I have brought him into the Pockets fold.
This was my first time EVER at a Pockets, and I gotta say I was impressed. This new location has a fresh clean feeling when you walk in. Seating is both in the front as well as the back (Except the view in the back is of garbage dumpsters....)
They had little pencils and papers at the front by the door, but I didnt pay much attention to them. I'm guessing you're supposed to fill out the form with your order and hand it to the cashier to place your order? I didnt do that. I walked straight to the cashier and placed my order. The guy at the cashier didnt mind at all.
The calzones are supposed to take 15-20 minutes to cook, but I swear we got ours in about 5 minutes. FAST! The staff had prepared our food as eat-in (I ordered to-go). When I told the guy we ordered to-go, he said "no problem!" and happily bagged up our food. What great service!
I am extremely happy that this establishment uses earth friendly products. Their containers are made of paper. Their plastic bags are recyclable. GO GREEN!
The food was tasty as well. I had ordered the spinach, berry and almond salad. It was yummie! My friend ordered the bbq chicken calzone. It tasted really good. I will definitely be back!
POCKETS POCKETS POCKETS POCKETS! I LOVE POCKETS!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem, excuse me.
As a fan of healthy and delicious and large salads I am a huge fan of Pockets [in case you didn't already notice]. And I am thrilled that this location opened up as I will be moving back into the area within the next 2 weeks.
I finally stopped in today to get my post 5k and pre-work lunch on. I arrived after the general lunch hour and there were some people finishing up their pockets and 2 people in line. I grabbed my paper, checked off my salad [spinach, double cucumber, carrots, crunchy noodles, edamame, and raspberry vin dressing*] I waited a few minutes for it to be made and once it was in my possession it was in my stomach about 2 minutes afterwards...okok, not really, I didn't eat it that fast, but it sure did seem like it!
It's small but nice inside with some slightly funky seats. Or, if you prefer, you can order online because they deliver!
*not my usual dressing, i decided to switch it up and i wish i had gotten my usual, sesame ginger. just a note, of the foot variety.
Bienvenido Pockets in the South Loop, kick back, stay awhile...please!
We (meaning all the Printers Row wanderers) have been waiting for this glorious day and low and behold, it has finally arrived. Pockets Dearborn is open!
As soon as I received word that the doors were officially open my mouth started salivating for none other then my favorite Bam Bam pocket...
So my lunch sounds like something a kid would eat... but what's stuffed inside is brocolli, tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, shredded carrots, and mozzarella cheese. Bliss in a pocket is what it really is.
So, I love this location, its nice and clean, a lot smaller then my regular Pockets on Lincoln but never mind that I totally dug the hip seating. The service was attentive and the Pocket was served piping hot. Yum...
For those of you unfamiliar with Pockets it is self described as a fresh and healthy combination of ingredients stuffed into a freshly baked Pocket bread. In basic lingo it's lots of fresh veggies (and meat if your so inclined) stuffed into a warm wheat roll and served with a side of dressing. The result is pure warm goodness and a full belly for hours!
I really do not have any complaints, but I do know I'll be back. My Bam Bam with extra mozzarella cheese and ranch dressing came out to 8.74 with tax.
They serve calzones, stuffed baked potatoes, soup, salads, and lots more.
And heads up yelpers be sure to pick up the "I'm Addicted" card...12 stamps will get you a free menu item of your choice. One stamp per Pocket, calzone, salad, or potato purchased. Future free "YUM" ---yes!
YUM! Pockets has arrived to toss up the lunch time dining options in the South Loop - hurrah!
The staff are all incredibly friendly and don't shoot me the death glare when it takes me 15 minutes to decide what fresh ingredients I'd like in my scrumptious salad. The chicken chili is hearty and delicious and I expect that it will likely fuel me through the cold winter months looming in the not-too-distant future. Next on my to-do list: try the backed potatoes!
Also worth noting - Pocket's delivers!!! And they are open weekends and in the evenings, so you can indulge at any time!
This location just opened, most evident by the cashiers and manager who cautiously eyed me as I walked in. I slowly stepped in, then noticed the little pile of papers and basket of pencils near the door. As I grabbed one, the manager said "he's been to Pockets before".
Well, not really, but I've been to enough "select your toppings" joints to understand protocol. The staff was friendly though, and my food came pretty quickly.
The bread was nice and hot, but can a brother get some butter? I get my plain bread fix at church, thanks. The bread along with a small salad (w/ spring mix, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, waluts, bleu cheese, and balsamic vinegar) cost a pricey almost-$9, but it tasted really good and kept me full for the rest of the work day. I heartily welcome this new lunch option to the still-desolate Printer's Row area.
i just had pockets an hr ago...byo salad, granted I chose the fixings, but it was really good and it was delivered so fast. As Kenneth Q mentioned the delivery guy was very friendly . I've seen him before on the streets, I'm glad to see that Pockets is using actual messengers.
