7 reviews for Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant...anywhere. I used to eat lunch there every week and when I was going to CNU there were definitely days I had both lunch and dinner at one of the plaza locations. I think this is the best location, with the one on Warwick across the street from CNU a close second. I love their chips and cheese dip. Umm, I pretty much haven't had a anything I don't like here and I've tried alot! If you're feeling adventurous try the burrito San Jose, it's huge! Now, I'm just waiting for them to get some locations to the west...
I love Plaza Azteca. The food is pretty good, there is a lot on the menu to choose from, and the wait staff and employees are intensely quick and organized. They get you seated quickly and large groups of people are always welcome. The tables are always clean and the minute your bottom touches your seat you are greeted with chips, salsa and some sort of ranch-like white dipping sauce. (Not my cup of tea but my friends really like it).
The rice is delicious. I normally get the Quesadilla de Chorizo which is yummy.
Cheap decent food, huge portions, little to no wait.

Now I'm from socal so I wouldn't say it has the best Mexican food, but for Newport News, Va. it's not bad. Plenty of chips and salsa as a starter, the margaritas are strong and good, food is worth the money, and the service is great. This is one of those places, that people enjoy going to over and over again. I know I did when living here.
Oh yeah, its awesome!! We've eaten here twice in the past couple weeks, and the food is great. Huge portions, decent prices and it tastes great! Really good chips too. You pretty much can't go wrong with this one. Unless you try to go on Cinco De Mayo. We went to two different locations and each one had people waiting outside in the rain. Now that is dedication...
Get here early or don't be in a hurry! It's a small venue but the food is great, cheap and well worth it! Remember it's next to CNU campus so it's likely to be a little loud, but it's a great first choice for tex-mex style food!
This restaurant is great and they are very accomodating when it comes to customizing your order. **** ATTENTION: MAJOR FIRE AT THIS RESTAURANT ON 9/9/2009; not sure when it will re-open! ****
The BEST Mexican food I have ever eaten! Appetizer: Queso con Chorizzo. Entre: Nachos, Fajitas, or one of their combination dinners (any of them with chille con queso). Drink: beer special or a jumbo margarita. I love the staff, they're always friendly, joking, and polite. There's plenty of seating so even if there is a wait, it's never that long. Plus, the foyer has a huge chandelier made of Corona beer bottles! By far my favorite restaurant in Newport News.
