I LOVE Platinum Dry Cleaners! Their customer service is unbeatable. Their quality of work is excellent and their attention to detail is unparalleled.

I am always nervous trying a new tailor because you never know what kind of work is going to come out. I met George when I came in about a year ago to have a pair of jeans hemmed. They were an expensive pair of jeans and I was very concerned with the hem because I've had expensive jeans hemmed before and ended up never wearing them again due to the hem with previous tailors always being too short. George advised me of the appropriate length and spent about a good amount with me on my consultation and listened to my needs and concerns. He told me if I wasn't happy with the length I could bring them back and he would do what he could to adjust them.  I seemed happy with the length but after a week of wearing the jeans I realized they still weren't right. I took them back in and George happily made the alteration at no additional charge because I truly believe he wants his customers to be happy with the quality of work they are getting. The jeans are now the perfect length and I couldn't be happier!

My patronage to Platinum Dry Cleaners continued when I was getting ready for my upcoming wedding. I needed my husband and my wedding shirts to be tailored to perfection. George met with us and using his expertise told us exactly what needed to be done to the shirts in order to meet our somewhat picky tailoring needs. The shirts came back and fit us perfectly! No extra fabric that we didn't want, tapered the sides without darts, and no fabric pulling because it was over tailored or too tight. We could have not felt more confident wearing those shirts on our wedding day.

I've also had many suits taken there for multiple reasons; waist needed to be taken in, hem, pants tapered for a slim modern look, and jacket alterations. My suits always come back exactly how we discussed the fit to be.  George has also instilled this excellent quality of exceptional customer service and craftsmanship to his daughter Gina. She always listens and after my consultations with her, my garments always come back exactly how we discussed.

I appreciate when I am listened to and when I am valued. I appreciate when the person I'm working with has the expertise to tell me what will work with what I'm asking and what won't. I am a life long costumer to Platinum Dry Cleaners and trust them to do all of my cleaning and alteration needs.

I went into Platinum to get a bridesmaids dress altered.I only needed the bust taken in and the train shortened. I was very happy with the consultative process and I thought the owner was going to have it perfected for me. When I picked up the finalized dress, they informed me that I didn't need to try it on because I had already tried it pinned up and they had made the necessary changes from them so I trusted that they had it taken care of.

Fast forward to a few days later - for the actual wedding. I put on my dress, take some basic pictures of the bridal party and realize the bust area of my dress is falling down on me. Literally to the point where I was worried my bra was going to be showing during the ceremony. One of the bridesmaids pulled me to the side during the reception and had to pin it up with a safety pin to keep myself covered up. It looked terrible. I have photos that friends took of me with my hand in front of my chest and with my dress bunched up on the side.

Another note.. these two changes to my dress cost me $140. I originally thought this was an outrageous price considering I didn't need a ton of alterations done to the dress but I figured, he seemed like he knew what he was doing and the price was worth it if I could trust that it would be done right. I spoke to another bridesmaid who had the same exact alterations done on her dress in the West Palm, Florida area and she was charged $40. She also didn't have to safety pin her dress or worry about her bra being shown the entire time.

Completely unhappy with my experience here and would not recommend for bridal alterations especially if you are getting the same alterations done. This place is less than half a mile from my apartment and I will NOT be going back.

Their customer service and tailoring is unbeatable.  I brought in a Banana Republic cocktail dress that fit perfectly on the top, but was too loose on the bottom.  The tailor was able to take it in that day, while maintaining the hour glass cut of the garment.

I was in Chicago from New York for a friend's wedding.  I waited until the last minute to find a dress and was forced to order one online, with a store pick up the day before the wedding.  Of course when I picked it up from the store on Friday afternoon, it needed alterations.  With no other options for (or time to find) another dress, my friend called her tailor (George) and asked if he might be able to make the alterations before the wedding.  He graciously obliged and at 6:30pm on Friday night, he agreed to do it and said it would be ready by 4pm on Saturday.  He only stuck two pins in the dress and I figured if it didn't work out...oh well.

I called George at 2:30pm on Saturday to see if the dress was ready, and of course, it was.  I picked up the dress, tried it on, and it fit PERFECTLY!  I was all set for the 6pm wedding.  

George was so lovely and charged me a very fair price to alternate a dress - which included removing pockets, taking out the zipper, pulling up the skirt at the waist and sewing the zipper back into the dress - within 24 hours and no notice.

I HIGHLY recommend George.  My friend has been going to him for years and I understand why.  I didn't have anything cleaned, but if their cleaning services are anything like their tailoring services, you will not be disappointed.  I was so happy with how the dress turned out and received many compliments on it at the wedding.

PAID FOR WORK THAT WAS NEVER DONE. This is the second time I have been here. WHEN they do the work it is no better/no worse than any other place. However both times they were disorganized and couldn't find my clothing. I came a day after there date of completion and had to wait while they located my clothes. Both times people were in line experiencing the same dilemma. This time they searched, found my pants at the bottom of a pile of clothes. My clothes were there for a week. They steamed them quickly, bagged them, charged me and sent me on my way. I got home to find out, NONE of the work I paid for was done. They weren't cleaned or tailored. I paid them $20 to hold my pants for a week and wrinkle them. Good luck if you choose to go, after this I will not be returning. I'd rather pay more knowing I'm getting the work I need/paid for completed.

I curse the company that created bridesmaid dresses. I really do. I had the unbelievable luck having to order not one, but TWO bridesmaid dresses for the same wedding, because the store did not accept returns and my original dress was six thousand sizes too small. Awesome.

Naturally the second was six thousand sizes too big, so off I went in search of a tailor to do something with six thousand yards of fabric. Oh and I had two weeks to get the dress altered because... well why wouldn't I? Isn't that like the flour in the cake to a story like this? Platinum Dry Cleaners assured me it would only take a week to have my little number tucked and pinned and ready to go. After a fitting mid-week, my six thousand sizes too big dress became snug as a bug in a rug. PDC saved the day, the wedding, and my relationship with the bride. Could you imagine having to tell a bride a week before her wedding that you were without your bridesmaid dress? Shudder.

While PDC saved my life and did a pretty great job at altering the dress, it came with a hefty price tag. Each section of the dress that needed to be altered was $35. I needed the top taken in drastically, and the hemmed raised, as well as the skirt to be taken in. That total would have been $105 and I just wasn't interested in forking over that much on a dress I had already bought twice that I'll never wear again. I ended up taking in the skirt myself, and the top and hem looked great.

While the prices are pretty high compared to the bridal shop I bought the dress in and other dry cleaners, I can't thank PDC enough for rescuing me in time for the wedding.

This place was referred to me by a menswear shop when their tailor was out of town.  I've had 3 or 4 suits altered there and have always been very pleased with the results.  The owner is quite friendly and provides excellent service.  I've never had garments cleaned there, only tailoring performed.

Very accommodating when you need it fast the do it for you and make you feel as if you are their main and only customer!! They know everyone I have seen in there by first name, very neighborhood-like!!!!

I want to be clear -- from a personality and work perspective, Platinum is great.  The staff (when they are actually there) are always friendly and professional, and things are always ready when promised.

However, the business claims that it is open at 7am.  On now four different occasions, I've been there at 7am or a bit after, and the place has been empty.  Twice this was me rushing to the airport and stopping to pick something up, and I had to wait over fifteen minutes for someone to arrive.  Today I arrived there at 7:19 (per WBBM) to drop things off, and the place was dark.  I waited for a few minutes and then got back in my car and went to another place.  It's too bad -- I really do like them, but I need a dry cleaner to be open when they say they'll be open.  Once or even twice I can understand, but this has repeated multiple times.  I unfortunately will be taking my business elsewhere...

I really like this place. They do quality work (both dry cleaning and alterations) and they do it quick.

I've always been spoiled with 1 day dry cleaning in the past. Apparently it's very uncommon, there must be 6 dry cleaners within a short walk from my place and none of them do 1 day service; except Platinum. In my 10 done by 5, I love that.

They've shrunk 2 things (a suit coat and a blouse) of mine, but apologized and tried to fix them both. I'd give them another star if it weren't for that. However, I've been taking lots of dry cleaning there since they opened and those two are the only two problems I've had.

I love this place! The owner is really friendly and though he never remembers my name, he remembers my face -- that deserves a star because my last cleaner didn't seem to recognize me every time I go into her shop and I've been there at least 5 times before I moved away!

Enough about the owner's excellent face recognition and friendliness though, let's talk about their services. Great prices. Great dry-cleaning services. Even greater alteration services -- in fact, it's excellent. I'm a bit petite so I usually have to have my pants taken in. They do such an excellent job! So far, I've had a pair of trousers and a pair of jeans taken in. Both excellent jobs. I was very impressed.

Mending clothes though is just okay -- They seemed to have ignored the thickness of the original thread but I was in a rush to have it mended so I was okay with it. Plus, no one will actually notice it unless they scrutinize the details of my coat. The main thing was that it held up.

All in all, the best dry-cleaning place I've been to in Chicago (I've tried four so far).

This place gets the 5 star review because of it's attention to people.  George, the owner, and his sidekick Elvia are really great people.  They both remember my name, and make sure to ask me how I am doing.  The approach they take is not superficial, and I always leave feeling like they care.

Why is this important?  Because I have trust that they are going to take the best care of my clothes.  So far I have had a wonderful experience with Platinum Dry Cleaners.  The clothes come back quick and clean and I am always happy.  The one time I encountered an issue, I brought it up to the staff who went above and beyond to make sure my garment received the attention it did.  

Great staff and prices.  Excellent quality.  I wish more places focused on their customers as much as Platinum does.

Love this place! Great cleaners and good tailoring! The staff is so friendly and they remember my name each time I come in. I would recommend bringing your clothes here for sure.

Very good service over a number of years. I'm not a very demanding client in that I usually don't need my clothes cleaned on short notice but my clothes were always cleaned by the day they were supposed to be and always cleaned well. I recommend them to any who live in the area.

I could write entire blog posts about my experiences here, but I'll try to keep it short.

Firstly, they completely de-smoked my peacoat that survived an apartment fire. That alone deserves a standing ovation. But then I went in to have a blazer altered, and after hearing a price quote that nearly killed me, the seamstress looked at me, had mercy on my soul, and worked out a much more affordable deal with me. She probably saw my wiry thin frame and exhausted eyes and figured I was in college and couldn't afford the high life. In any case, she was a total sweetheart and had the work done in the time it took me to run across the street to the bank. The blazer fit me perfectly, and it's going to be an essential part of my wardrobe now.

Unparalleled service, top-notch dry cleaning, and the best tailor in all of Chicago. Highly recommended.

WOW! That is about all I can say.

George and Elvia are AMAZING. They treat you like family.  In the customer service industry I am blown away at their levels of customer service that they give, EACH AND EVERY TIME. They know me by name, they know my little details, ask how I am doing, hows work, remember my field of work, remember my clothes (ask where some of their favorite garments of mine have been) and just blow me away each and every time!

I am rather embarrassed that after over a year of living in the city I haven't gotten around to this sooner. Need a good dry cleaner, laundering, clothe altering place? THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Quick turn around, on par pricing and detailed service is where its at here.

Great!
They're super cheap, friendly, instant turn around, and they do an awesome job.
What else do you need in a dry cleaner?
(oh, and they do a good job with minor alterations too- they do them almost while you wait they're so quick!)

Good prompt service for a very reasonable price.  I tried a few of the dry cleaners around the area and Platinum was the best by far, at least for men's shirts and pants.

Minor complaints were that they raised the prices without saying anything, polo shirts are a bit pricey and my comforter was very expensive, and they require a minimum charge to use a credit card.

All in all they were my go to cleaner for dress shirts and pants and I miss them dearly now that I've moved.

I was initially attracted to this cleaner, due to their low prices. I was satisfied, even though they would occasionally put creases in my pants when I had specifically asked them not to. (But hey, what do you expect for $2.75, right?!) I even entrusted them with my wedding dress a few months ago.

However, recently they completed ruined an expensive dress by improperly treating it with chemicals. When I indicated that I wished to be compensated in some way for their error, the previously friendly proprietor became extremely curt. He has since not returned the dress, not compensated me for the damaged garment, and refused to provide me with his insurance information, so that I might file a claim.

I guess you get what you pay for. Cheap cleaning apparently equals cheap business owners.

Rip off!  Way too expensive!  They quoted me $80 to clean a baseball-style jacket I brought in because the sleeves are leather.  Just down the street it was $16.
