We had a few small colonies starting at our home, and having spent time in Hawaii, I knew how effective orange oil is for spot treatments.
The inspector came out, identified the areas that needed treatment, and spent time discussing options and what would need to be done. Orange oil is injected into the termite galleries (rather than seeps in when you tent), he made sure to examine the exterior walls for any bulges, "dirt" or other tells for termites, and did discover one additional colony I was unaware of. He also noted that this method was best for spot treatment and that if you have larger colonies or ones in areas that are impossible to reach (e.g. deep in chimney flume supports, very large colonies or the like), they would recommend tenting. Fortunately, we did not have those problems.
He managed to set up a time for the crew to come out and treat the areas. The crews were friendly, professional and left the areas cleaned and presentable. They also took time to show us their work in progress and answer questions we had.
Two weeks since treatment, there are no more tells, so I know the colonies are dead. I'll happily recommend them to others with similar problems. -

Here is the update.
The owner actually came right next week and did the through inspection by himself and give us a discount to show their seriousness. This gives them three stars before the actual termite operation.
Final rating will be done once we get the service from them.1 Previous Review: Show all »

We have experience nothing but the most professional, friendly, prompt and honest services from Planet Orange. A few months ago we had our home treated for termites. This is the company to use if you do not want to tent your home and want fast action but are also concerned about toxicity levels of the products. We were given two choices of products. Time will tell of course if the treatment was effective but with their two-year guarantee I'm not losing any sleep over it.
We called Planet Orange again this month because we had carpenter ants in our son's playroom. We were fed up because we had hired a different company to get rid of the ants but they kept coming back despite doing the preventative cleanup and tree trimming around the house to stop their "bridging" routes onto our home. This time, Nani (Ananias Balajadia) came inside, spotted some ants on a dark ceiling beam that I would never have been able to see, walked me around the outside and pointed out where the ants were "bridging." I was surprised because the other company did not identify this particular bridge (which I never would have noticed) and wanted to sign us up for monthly treatments presumably to last forever. Quite a different approach here: Nani told me there was no point doing the treatment until we had those neighbors' trees trimmed because they would just come back.
I read some off the negative reviews and I just haven't had the same experience. Sure, these guys may come inside and come into your bedroom but that is their job if they are inspecting the interior of your home (anyone you invite into your home to inspect it or work on it you should expect will be going into various rooms of the house!). All of the phone experiences were easy and friendly, the scheduling was easy even though I'm hard to schedule with, there was no pressure, the guys are really neat and tidy, and there was a lot of information (think free two hour inspection) and choices. As to the negative reviewer who thought the positive reviews were all friends and family, I'm neither friends nor acquaintances nor family nor anything with this company except a customer. -

Don't waste your time, money, or emotional health on Planet Orange Termite Services. It is so obvious the management of this business has a lot to learn. Out of 41 reviews "filtered" here, half of them are from frustrated customers!
I have not seen a company who time after time just proves they do not know how to behave professionally, nor perform simple tasks of taking an appointment and keeping an appointment. They can't even show up at the time they are supposed to! When they did showed up if was half an hour earlier than scheduled...do they need a lesson in telling time?
My husband wrote a review sometime ago, obviously it has been paid to get deleted. I felt compelled to let the potential customers know not to trust Planet Orange Termite Services. Their prices are high, and they promise to do a lot, what you get is not nearly comparable to what you paid. No one should be paying in the thousands to get their house sprayed!
I use Yelp pretty often, reading reviews depening on the business. When you see someone with many positive reviews, it isn't easy to get, so trust that they have earned it too. This company certainly should be closed based on what they have done to the customers.
1 star is being kind. They deserve zero after all the money they took from us, and the time they'd wasted. Scheduling appointments months out and never showed-up. Rescheduling appointments, and never showed up. We had to take time off work, clear out the area and for what, to wait around for a service we paid for, and be stood up! Can you believe that? A ridiculously bad managed and run company. -

Since my last review, Planet Orange has been back to our home several times. They did a great job on the pest side over a year ago, and we decided to give them a try on their free home energy audit. My husband couldn't resist the idea of an energy monitor that would show us in real time what our consumption was!
The audit team they sent out was on time & professional. Like the other reviewer noted, they removed their shows. This is a nice touch & really appreciated. They were super thorough, and covered attic to crawl space. Within a few days, they gave us a quote with estimated savings. We didn't do everything on the list, but the majority of it.
All of our doors are now energy efficient, air ducts are wrapped and the other smaller misc. items were perfectly executed. Their guy even straightened a crooked vent that had been driving me nuts for 10 years. We also took advantage of their contractor services and had a large bedroom window replaced.
Overall, we've been VERY happy. Our house is warmer in winter & cooler in summer. Our energy bill is lower and everything was delivered as promised. I know coming to Lafayette is a hike from San Jose, but I wouldn't call anyone else. We had a bad experience with terminix several years back. Planet Orange delivers the goods on all levels!Listed in: Best Companies I've Worked…

Termite infestation is stressful. But Planet Orange helped put me at ease.Their employees are friendly and knowledgable, their prices are reasonable, and their services are EFFECTIVE!
When I called, the person that answered the phone was extremely friendly and actually had answers to the questions I asked. Making an appointment was easy. I have a bizarre work schedule, but they worked with me to find a time that was most convenient. And on the day of my appointment, they showed up right on time.
I was embarrassed at the condition of my basement, but they didn't make me feel that having a termite problem was somehow my fault or something to be ashamed of. They didn't castigate me for not having "dealt with it sooner." I was worried that the products used to kill the termites might be harmful to me or my family. But after looking into the kind of methods they use, I was relieved to know their products are environmentally safe.
After all was said and done, I was extremely satisfied with the work. The most important thing: no more termites!!! I would say I would use them again if I ever had a termite problem, but I have a feeling their services were so effective that I won't need to call them back. -

Dealing with termite services are a nightmare, but based on our experience Planet Orange is the best option. Most importantly, Planet Orange found there was no active infestation after two traditional fumigation companies said there was and that 3 days of $1600 tenting was required---needless to say a huge benefit, esp. since time was of the essence for our sale. Our inspector Justin and the final inspector Jim were great to deal with. Brandon was superb in setting up the appts.and he was the best at making us feel someone cared about our needs! Caryn also followed through on her promises.
The downside for us was that they do not have someone who handles your account--every time we called in regarding our work, it was like reinventing the wheel and several times misinformation was given out. When I called in initially, I explained the tight time schedule and was told by the initial rep that it would absolutely be no problem-there were contractors ready to take care of everything immediately and get us the letter right away etc. To make a long story short, it took much longer than promised and when it came time to produce the needed termite letter, it turned into "we legally have 10 days to issue the letter after the work is done", blah blah blah and we had to really push to make it happen!
Overall, we would recommend Planet Orange over the traditional companies we dealt with, although they can be infuriating!
Also, our realtor told us that Planet Orange could not provide the necessary "letter" which was totally wrong so beware of false info-try to do some homework. -

You cant go wrong with plant-based products over toxic chemicals.. my kiddo deserves an environment way better than that.... and one that smells like oranges instead of bug spray!! I hate to go back on a good experience. I called to get an inspection since I saw a few things that I thought might be worth checking out but after couple of calls no response. I really don't know if people check voicemails and really are working. If I do not get back to someone at work, I hear about it and the company hears about it. Do people get tripped up with success and wealth and feel entitled to money and business, I mean what is up with not being able to reach someone and get a call back, dude I paid $1400 and have a 2 year warranty.
Update 10/14
Management at Planet Orange responded to me and I got an inspector that came out, was very thorough and took care of things, I hope that the people who check the phones back the guys like David who really do a good job out in the field. Front Office needs some training to back up field guys.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I would give them no stars if I could! I can't believe this company has not been shut down yet. They have ALOT of complaints filed against them with different agencies. We have the state inspector coming out to meet us soon also. The 5 star reviews they have are fakes and friends of the owner of this crooked company. We had their "swat team" out several times (over 10) to try to eliminate our termites, and sure enough, they keep coming back!! We have wasted over $4000 with this company..to the owner of Planet Orange: What comes around goes around, I wonder how you sleep at night!!!

"What is that G-D hole in my stairwell wall?!?!" I screamed. No answer. I bent over to check and eauuuu - there were termites inside the hole. I am itching just writing about it. it's just so effing disgusting!
Being the natural girl that I am, I use things like vinegar, borax, baking soda, Dr Bonner's soap, and salt to make my own home cleaning supplies. There was no way in hell I would subject my home to tenting and toxic carcinogen chemical termite treatment. That poison was not going to be imbedded within my carpets, textiles, and solid wood furniture. Hell no - no way, nah ah.
My daughter and I searched Yelp for the people who do the natural orange oil treatment. Interestingly enough, that did not bring up the company we were looking for. After a few more failed attempts, we tried termite service and that brought it up , Well, it brought up a lot of other businesses and we combed through each page until we found the right one. (Yo - Planet Orange, add "orange oil" to your related Yelp search words, seriously. I almost gave up on trying to find you!)
Vlad came out to do the inspection and give a price quote. My house was a mess from all the moving and remodeling we are doing, I am not going to lie. Vlad was unfazed by the clutter and boxes all over the place. He was informative, professional, and polite. I did some sleuthing and discovered their price is similar to other places so it was a no-brainer to have these polite professionals do the work in my house.
A few days later Sean and another guy came and did the actual work. They worked pretty quickly with the external drilling, treatment, and cement re-filling. The price was reasonable in comparison to the efficiency of the work but what impressed me most was the high quality customer service. I really resent having people in my home who think they are going to treat me like an idiot because I have boobs. Yeah, I bought my home at age 21, I think that makes me pretty smart. The employees who came to my house on both visits were punctual, professional, and helpful which made me comfortable having them in and around my home.
For the next five years, Planet Orange will be an annual part of my home maintenance for free inspections. Whatever it takes to prevent another really disgusting surprise.
I would not hesitate to refer them to my friends. I will start with you - my fellow Yelpers! Bookmark this one, it's a keeper! -

It appears most of these reviews for Planet Orange are for their termite services. We used Planet Orange for their home energy audit services last fall on recommendation from a co-worker. Planet Orange provided a free home energy audit that would identify areas where we could improve on energy loss. My husband was initially very happy with their customer service and responsiveness. After the audit, we were to receive an audit report and we only received after we called a few times. Once we received the audit, it was clear that they have a standard set of recommendations that they suggest and they gave us suggestions on areas that we already made the improvements. It seemed they just sent us a report when we called but did not really customize it based on our inspection.
We did use Planet Orange to do some work on our house that qualified for the PG&E rebate and Federal tax credits. We were very happy with the work completed and the workers they had were very professional and timely. We had them seal our ducts, replace two skylights, install radiant barrier on our attic roof and add blown-in insulation.
The reason I'm giving them three stars was on their customer service AFTER the work was completed. They were very responsive when they wanted us to pay, but when we requested all the appropriate documentation for our Federal tax credit they were very slow to respond. -

Okay, so we got termites swarm a month ago - which equals to pretty much that we were in a rather foul but deperated mood. But enough for the psychoanalysis.
We contacted about 6 different companies - 4 orange oil, 2 traditionals.
Anyway, this inspector comes in.. seem very professional - checked everything... and then our bedrooms.
Which kinda creepy considered none of the inspectors we asked did anything remotely like that - they only goes into the artic and crawlspace... but not in the rooms.
But I guess he might had spotted my labtop in my bedroom... which was sitting next to my Ruger gun bag, my other rifle cases and my ammo can... as well as the boxes of American Eagles ammo openly sitting in my room's bookcase. Yeah, he bug out of my room rather quickly.
After his tour of our home, he then showed us their service prices.... which in a way seem like dealing with an used car saleman. (buy in today and you get this discount! but only today!!! act now!!!)
He also told us, we have a nice home... oh yeah? that's before or after you waltz into our bedrooms?
All in all - the mate's actions make me questioned about his intentions more then his professionalism. And yeah, we also never got a written report... so we can't really tell what they know or saw.
So did we end up used this company for termite treatment - well, does soured milk taste like pumpkin pie? Let just ponder on that one...
..Mean while, let me check just the reviews on home sercuity webcams...... -

I had written a review that I have retracted.
Planet Orange was given business to give proposal to both of my homes.
There was alot of confusion and mis-communications.
After it all got sorted out, which I commend the owner Nathan and his Business and Sales person, Jim, the professionalism and all stops were pulled out to please and satisfy me.
Good for them that they are super busy and that this product is non-invasive. But as you grow you need to keep your customers happy.
Thank you Nathan and Jim for turning this around and being a win-win for both parties. -

I just wanted to update this review as it has been over a year since I got my house treated. There are still no signs of termites and I'm still totally happy with the service I received. Clearly the product works and the way it is applied is obviously done by people who know what they are doing. I have recommended them to sev eral friends and family members all of whom had a similarly good experience. This is a great company!

To be fair, I haven't had other companies do what they've done to compare services. At the same time though, I can't really think of how it could have been better. Therefore, 5 stars.
I had my house tented by another company about four years ago. Apparently it didn't take as I recently saw evidence of termites. In addition, the neanderthals broke about a dozen tiles on my roof.
Planet Orange offers a non tenting option. The inspector who came was very nice, informative and respectful. He answered all of my questions and offered information I didn't even think of to ask. He showed other areas where termites were coming in. As the price was what my wife and I thought it would be we didn't compare with other companies. They offered a 2 year warranty for the whole house and required a 10% deposit.
The techs came by about a week later and were also very nice and professional. I had evidence around one of my windows which they hit with the orange oil. They then spent time up in the attic, under the house and all around the outside spreading termite death.
And when they left, the house smelled like oranges. -

Since my last review a friend & his wife also used Planet Orange (upon my recommendation). Their experience was just as positive as mine. Their representative, Greg (who had helped me before), even took the time to call me on the phone & thank me for referring my friend's business to them. That's really impressive & totally appreciated. & as to my service: My house is still completely termite free.

Ok... I had termites and needed to get rid of those rascals
I had two options 1) tent my house or 2) Orange planet
I did not want to tent my house because of the inconvenience of having to move out for 3 days. Also, just how safe is it having your house filled with poisonous gasses and then moving back into that house? I like the idea of not gassing my house
So, I decided to have Orange Planet take care of my pesky termites.
Overall I'm pleased with the service Orange Planet provided. The only issue I had was on the day they came it was raining. They need to spray my attic so they dragged their dirty wet hose on my clean hardwood floors and they didn't clean up when they were done so minus one star otherwise great service all around.
I would recommend this service to those who need it.

WAAAAAY OVER PRICED - I mean WAAAAAAAAAY OVER PRICED.
We discoved a pest problem and received a bid. This was the fourth one. They were very nice, polite, but their prices were 5 times what other companies charge and for less service. And yes this was after they included discount after discount.
I've noticed that in all of the posts no one has said that Orange Oil works. I have tried natural cures in the past for various things, but have found many times they don't work. I'd sure like to know if this stuff works. A few years there was a company using liguid Nitorgen to kill termines by freezing them. - Thank didn't work.
Intersting think about this Orange Oil stuff is that there is only one compnay using it, and that's this one. I can't find one other pest control company using orange oil. I'm asking myself if this stuff is so good why aren't other companies using it? And if this stuff is so safe, why isn't this stuff sold at Home Depot or Lowes? -

I contracted the San Jose Plant Orange office two years ago. Living in a townhouse, I was unable to convince the other townhouse owners to tent for termites so I chose to use Planet Orange. One of the P/O employees arrived at the scheduled time and worked on the outside of my townhouse at ground level for subterranean termites, however he refused to go upstairs and complete the job even after I asked if he was going to look upstairs . The cost for just doing downstairs was $2000. This year I was contacted by a representative of Planet Orange who left a message on my answering machine. They wanted to advise me that my two year coverage was about up. I didn't return the call because I was angry with them for not completing the job and of course I'm sure they wanted to tap into more cost for upkeep. When they did get a hold of me by telephone, they advised me that my coverage was up and I should have called them so they could come out and do a free inspection. I told the representative that I would not ever use them again because the job wasn't completed. The rep checked his records and agreed with me that the upstairs wasn't treated. He said he would check into it. What he should have done is offered to send someone out to do the upstairs which would have been the professional thing to do and a completion of their job. Instead, I have an upstairs infestation which should have been treated years ago. I see from other reviews that they have some good one's so maybe it's a hit or miss on who they send out to your house. As for me I give them one star as I feel they are unprofessional, and give the impression of being a fly-by-night organization unwilling to offer to correct their lack of completion. For as much advertising as they do you'd think they would want to do a good job every time. Not so in this case.

Don't ask me why but we gave these guys another shot. I think it was because I was having problems finding another natural company to get rid of our critter problem. Even though the guy (a different one than last time, but unfortunately I can't remember his name) showed up at 10:05 for his 9-10am window he did a thorough job. Without me even asking he took his shoes off before going on my carpet. I cannot tell you guys how much I appreciate that since my carpet is really lightly colored!
Then after surveying the inside and outside of our home he determined that we don't have a termite problem and that the infestation a month ago was a freak, isolated incident. He told us to check back if there are any further issues, but today's inspection was free. Free inspection and I don't have termites... Sweet!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Absolutely horrible! Do not waste your money and time!
My wife and I had our house serviced by Planet Orange 2 years ago, we felt like we were willing to pay a little bit extra to be more green and environmental friendly, and we do not have to move out of our house for the job. Little did we know that this was a big mistake!
Fast forward to 2 months ago, when we decided to sell the house. Well the termite section 1 report came back like a Swiss cheese, there were termite activities ALL OVER THE PLACES. The section 1 inspector said, and I quote, "this is a basically a completely waste of money".
Since we were still under the 2-year warranty period, we've showed the section 1 report to Planet Orange and asked them to come back and perform a re-work. The came back and did the treatment based on the report, and we thought we are clear of termite, but no. We have a potential buyer, hiring their own inspector, and did a re-inspection. And guess what? The re-treatment was basically a joke, they missed a lot of places in the report.
Long story short, they ended up having to do the re-treatment 3 times, every time Planet Orange completed the work, the ensuing inspection will continue to fail because they fail to treat areas that are specified in the report. My agent and the inspector ended up having to physically watch them do the work for the last treatment to make sure they don't cut corners. WHAT A JOKE!
Because of the bad termite report and the multiple failures in the re-treatements, we had several interested buys walk away. And we ended up having to reduce the asking price. I say we lost ~$20K in selling of the house because of the bad job they did.
This is absolutely horrible, I would NEVER RECOMMEND Planet Orange service to anyone! Please don't make the same mistake we made. -

Amazing service! Great prices!
We have a couple of homes that have been treated by Planet Orange. Not only were they extremely friendly, they set our minds at ease with their quality service.
We have recommended them to our friends, who just had a treatment and they were equally impressed.

Review from Alena M.
My hubby and I just bought a new house and sadly discovered that we had both drywood and subterranean termites. The company that performed the inspection wanted to charge us $4,000 for extermination, so I obviously decided to get a second bid.
I e-mailed Planet Orange just because I was curious. I figured that an environmentally-friendly company would be expensive, right? WRONG! Not only were they incredibly responsive and friendly, but they quoted the job for $2,100!
I have to leave this review open-ended because how do I really know the termites are gone? Thankfully I have a free, two-year warranty should any problems arise.
BTW, Trav W's review should be deleted. That's just dumb. -
Review from Cynthia S.

I think in large part you do get what you paid for. Yes they are more expensive but it's also about the service. They are not out there to say they are the cheapest but they have more qualified inspectors IMO. I wanted to support a local business too so I was sort of against Planet Orange going into this.
I called 3 companies to get quotes for our termite problem. My main concern was that something was missed because the first person we used while the house was in escrow spent about 45 min to inspect and never even went down the crawl space. After the house closed I called 3 companies for bids. 1st company didn't even come out and just did it on the existing report. 2nd company came out and didn't find any additional termites beside the one area on the report that I showed him and they were 2.5 hours LATE. Planet Orange was the last one. Dan the inspector was beyond cool! He came right on time and spent 2+ hours going over the property. As I have suspected, he found 1 additional termite area on the roof. He also found subterranean termites in the crawl space. Someone before him threw powder trying to cover up the evidence. Now I don't know who but it was a mighty shady thing for anyone to do. He had to dust away the powder and look into a pipe to find it.
The initial price was a shock but overall for the one common spot that the other 2 companies gave bids on was about 10% higher which isn't bad. The overall price was really because of the 2 additional areas that other inspectors have missed. After looking over things he was able to work something out and accommodate us. The most important part is the quality of the service and the piece of mind that they offer you. The turn around time is fantastic too! They are able to come out w/i 48 hours. I can't thank Dan enough!!!

We found out termites had made their way to the second floor while replacing baseboards. Not exactly the news I was hoping to hear while six months pregnant. My husband made an appointment for someone to come give us an estimate. Chima was beyond helpful and nice. He didn't seem to mind when I asked him the same questions over and over, I just wanted to be sure I knew what we were talking about. We scheduled them to come out last week. My husband said the two workers were super friendly. While the orange smell isn't bad, it's really, really strong. I wouldn't recommend getting it done in the winter or any time you can't open the windows. They spread the chemicals by drilling little holes in the wall. While the holes aren't big, we have a lot of them. They spackle them, but you'll need to sand them down and repaint. Luckily I have left over paint to do the touch ups, otherwise it would have been a hassle to get the custom colors all over again and hope that the paint batch matches the batch you already used to paint your walls.

This is an update to my previous review, based on follow up from the company after the poor review I posted earlier. Here is the response I received to a discussion of the problems with their service:
"Elizabeth, thanks for your reply. We have taken a number of actions following your review: 1. I have spoken to the inspectors about ensuring to note down the customer's decision timeframe, so that if someone says they will not decide for 2 weeks, then they note this down on their report and it is entered into the system for the telephone followup crew. 2. I am having our Head of Inspector Training do a training refresher for all inspectors on the issue around dampwood versus drywood signs. Our goal is always to be accurate with the diagnosis we make.
I believe these efforts will rectify your main complaints against us and hopefully go some way to re-establishing your faith in Planet Orange. I hope you will feel our company has recovered somewhat from our initial performance. If I can every be of further assistance to you, please feel free to call on me. Regards, Nathan (President - Planet Orange)"
If they make good, should go a long way.1 Previous Review: Show all »

As a new home owner having terminates can be overwhelming and upsetting, and just plain annoying. With our busy schedules my husband and I needed someone who was well informed, quick, responsive and professional. Planet Orange gave us all of that and more. From my initial discussion with Patrick to the inspection to the actual day of job they were great. Great service, convenience, good price, and environmentally friendly - what more could a girl ask for you?

I did get an email from the management with an apology and offer to make it right but I had already gotten another company. Glad they wanted to fix it.

We called them and asked for a last minute inspection because we are trying to buy a house. They said the earliest they could come was 4PM on a Saturday (we called friday morning). They ended up calling us and coming earlier, which was great for us because it was the same time as our home inspection. This meant less wait for us. Overall, they guy (Justin) was super nice. Our realtor said he did a thorough job. Unfortunately, there were termites in the house but he gave us the news in a gentle yet professional way that didn't make feel bad. I have to knock out a couple of stars because they were two days late on their promised report.

The stupidity of this operation never ends. After I posted on Yelp in August, I immediately got a phone call; I told them to read my review - it said it all. I also got an email which I deleted. Never did I get the estimate as promised. IT ACTUALLY BECAME MORE INANE! On December 22nd, I got a call to remind me that my two year warranty was about to expire. The caller, Thad, had no idea that I had already been re-inspected or that I was awaiting an estimate since summer. He promised to look into it and get back to me. Guess what? NOTHING! Please please please, do not give your business to these folks. Every time I hear one of their commercials I cringe.

Had a free inspection scheduled last week and the inspector found out that I had subtrainian termites. After reviewing and speaking with the inspection, I was given a quote and it is MUCH lower than what other companies had quoted me. Therefore I did not hesitate and schedule a full termite service for Sept 29.
Today David Sickmen and Garry Johnson arrive 5 minutes before the schedule appointment. Spoke me to regarding their plan on killing the termites and how and where they will begin their work. After that, they just started their work around the front of my house and the back of my yard drilling many holes and filling them with chemicals. David and Garry were very professional and they asked me alot of questions and answered all my questions. They even went above and beyond what they were told to do.
While David was filling up the holes with chemicals, he noticed I also had problem with the ants. Therefore he decided to spray some extra chemical around the area where he think the ants had a nest in at no charge!
David and Garry was in here and out in less than 1 hour of time. Great guys to dealt with and very awesome work they've done.
Will definitely recommend whoever had termite problems to look for Planet Orange for services. These guys know what they are doing and are on top of the chart! -

This review is only on the inspection process. Two gentlemen came to the house (1 HOUR late and after a call to the main office). 1 man did the inspection work and seemed very honest with his answers and information. However, the man that stayed in the house with me felt like a used car salesman, apology for the cliche. He called the owner trying to lower their bid and would raise his voice to say how LARGE the infestation was (it was localized to one part of our house). Their price was the highest out of 3 bids.

These guys seem to do a really good job. Or at least they really know their stuff, how to sell their services and seem legitimately concerned about resolving their customers' issues. But the quote I received for my place was WAY beyond what I would be charged by anyone else. They guy who did the VERY thorough inspection (1+ hour crawling all over the place) offered large discounts off the initial quote but was still over $2000 for what is simply one relatively contained area of termites, plus preventative care for the rest of the house. It seemed to me like they would do a better job than most, if not all, of their competitors. But for 2+ times the price, I'm looking elsewhere.

I called for an inspection and I was told they'd show up between 10 and 12 on the day I asked for. John called to say he'd be late and arrived after 1:30. He'd had an inspection in Santa Cruz before mine in San Francisco. Rather poor planning on whoever schedules these appointments. I had to move another appointment to another day to stay home. He was a very cordial fellow. Afterwards we booked a full house treatment for the next day for $1700.
The two workers showed up early and were very friendly. They were done in about 3 hours. They looked like they knew what they were doing. During the work I asked one to be sure to get the walls in the tunnel entrance of the house that hadn't been treated up until that point. He made sure it was done.
But after they left I walked into the entrance way and noticed one whole wall that had not been treated. It was easy to see because the ground is sandy below the walls and the sand was all wet from the liquid used. But the sand in front of this wall was dry. So I called John, the inspector and told him. He called the workmen and called me back to say the guy was 98% sure he had treated the wall. Meanwhile I'm standing here looking at one wall that has sand in front of it soaked in liquid and the other totally dry. I told him if he'd come by he'd be able to see for himself . It's not like I'm going to make this up just to get extra treatment!
At this point if they'd just set up an appointment to finish the job all would have been fine. Mistakes happen. But he tells me to call Greg, their service manager to get it done. It seems to me that good business practice would be for them to call me, not the other way around. So I called him and waited all afternoon for him to call me back but he didn't. I don't expect them to rush up here and do the work but a phone call would be nice just to let me know that they're concerned. I called them again and left another message. No response.
I guess they're not interested in you after you pay. So a word to the wise, be there the day they do the work and inspect it ALL before you pay. I assumed when I told him to treat the walls in the entrance way they'd do them all, not just one.
The next day I call the office ( this was my third try) and asked for someone who could help me. It turns out to be the service manager, Greg. He says a crew can come by in 3 weeks to treat the area. We'll see how that goes.
THREE WEEK UPDATE: Dave arrived 45 minutes early. I showed him the entrance walls that had not been treated. He agreed that they'd missed it. He said he's also an inspector so he knows what should be done. He drilled the walkaway and trenched the wall area. I asked why he trenched it being the first guys didn't. He said that's how it's supposed to be done. The other guy just put the nozzle down in the ground every few feet. Dave finished the job quickly and said he'd speak to the first crew about what should have been done.
MY RATING: I figure they get knocked down to 3 stars for not doing it right in the first place. But then lose another one because of how they handled the aftermath. The customer shouldn't be the one to call people many times to get them to come back to do the job right. -

It was extremely upsetting when I discovered I had termites but luckily I had recently heard about Planet Orange. I recieved excellent service from Vlad. He was polite, friendly and professional. He finished the job in good time, was happy to answer all my questions and concerns and seemed to be very experienced in what he does. I would definitely recommend others to use this service.

So, funny story. My bf was doing some work on the back of our house and saw some 'termites' crawling out from behind the shingles. I promptly call Planet Orange and schedule an inspection within the week. Got confirmation email and phone call, and the inspector was waiting for me when I got home from work, even though they have a 1 hour window. Justin was friendly, courteous and professional. Here's the funny part... apparently bf doesn't know what a termite looks like. Good news for me -- no termites! -- but a bit of a waste of time for poor Justin. He couldn't have been nicer. Overall, a 5 star experience!
