Burn my luggage, I'm never leaving. I wish! This was the best find of a hotel I've had in a long time. I'm going to parrot what everyone else has said about the rate and location--amazing.

Our room was recently remodeled and was lovely and comfortable. The courtyard was an amazing place to sit in the mornings and eat the breakfast we'd bought down the street. They offer a free Continental breakfast, but I'm all about meat and taters.

And imagine my surprise when the Haunted History Tour stopped at the hotel to tell us it was haunted. Nice. And on a side note, the wall behind the headboard of our bed was adjacent to the wall next door in a room where slaves were chained...also haunted. This added an element of "oooooooooooo" to the trip.

Service was excellent; food recommendations were dead on, stored luggage before and after check-out...I can't say enough. This is the only place I'll stay in the French Quarter from now on.

I would beyond the shadow of a doubt stay here again. It was a GREAT hotel. We had an incredible rate, the staff was friendly, the courtyard was stunning, the room was clean. It is VERY convenient to everything in the French Quarter. We did not have a problem with noise at all.
We actually had one of the interior rooms with no window. It was not bad at all. My husband and my sister actually liked it, as no bright sun came streaming in early in the morning.
This is not like some of the luxury hotels in the French Quarter, but a great historic property with lots of character and great rates!

I would most definitely stay here again!  Such a charming old place with beautiful foliage and courtyards.  The pool, though small, was great for relaxing and taking in a cocktail or two. Right in the heart of the French Quarter, we were able to walk to fantastic bars and restaurants, and stop in for a quick dip and a shower before going to grab dinner.
If you're used to Hotel Sofitel or any other 5 star places, this may not be for you.  Being a historic hotel, there are eccentricities.  For those who like adventure and really getting to know the place they're visiting, well, I don't think you can get more in touch with the French Quarter than this place..Great value or what you pay, too.  If you're on a tight budget, they do have much more affordable rooms, though they don't have windows, but you can still experience the fantastic courtyardsat any time of the night!
Bonus-free croissants in the morning, and just a couple blocks from Italian deli with cheap muffalettas!

This hotel is truly a gem. I've stayed here 4 times, and I've also stayed in 3 other New Orleans hotels. This hotel is hands down my favorite.

Here are the top two reasons you should stay here:

(1) Location! You could not ask for a better location. Just off Jackson Square, two blocks from Bourbon and Pat O'Briens, a block from Decateur and Cafe Du Monde, absolutely the best hotel location in the French Quarter.

(2) This hotel is unique and gives guests a totally different experience than the average chain. Most of the rooms are decorated differently, and many used to be apartments so many are laid out completely differently from others. No cookie cutter rooms here! There are also two wonderful courtyards all guests can enjoy, a nice (but small) pool, and some rooms even have rod iron balconies overlooking St. Ann and Chartres streets.

All that said, please keep in mind that this is not a four star hotel. This hotel is not for the super-picky who will write off a hotel completely for lousy water pressure, an ink stain on a chair, or for the maid failing to replace their empty box of tissues. This hotel has its quirks, but if you can enjoy a unique experience and the best location in the quarter, then book it!

Okay so I would LOVE to give this place 4 stars, but I can't, a visit from "mickey" as I so affectionately named our little mouse visitor is why! I'm not really freaked out by mice but the thought that Mickey might have been rummaging through my luggage for at least 2 days freaked me out! The hotel was nice enough to comp a few days of parking, which runs around 26 dollars per day, but they were unable to comp the room because I booked through http://Hotels.com. Note to travelers: Book through the hotel!
They then upgraded us to the king suite which was more than enough room. I wish I would have got a room with a patio view because the courtyard area was filled wish lush greenery, fountains, seating, pool and a nice view. The first room we were in was an interior room, with no windows and felt quite cramped and dark but was way cheaper than the rooms with views.

They have complementary wi-fi, as well as a continental breakfast. But in my interior room I received no wi-fi signal and had to venture outside to the courtyard every time I needed to use my laptop. When we were transferred to the suite on my last night I was finally able to connect to a signal.

I loved the proximity to Bourbon street and Jackson Square, which was only about 2 blocks from the hotel and being right in the middle of the French Quarter. I hated the only parking options really available were valet, which was an extra $26.00 a night.

The Hotel staff were very friendly regarding our " Mickey situation", and when I accidentally left my ring when we checked out ( My Fiancee would have killed me!!) the woman at the front desk promptly found it and we returned later to pick it up!

All in all a great place to stay if you want to be in the midst of everything, and within walking distance of all the great sights....and food!!

Great location!  Walking distance to pretty much everything in the French Quarter.  Cafe du Monde is a block away and so is St. Louis Cathedral.  The rooms are very charming and a nice size.  We got a courtyard room and it's a very pretty view but...we have mosquitoes in our room.   There is no weatherstripping under the door and I've been eaten alive.  I don't know if this is just a fluke or if other people have experienced this but we had to get bug spray and a citronella candle for inside.  Aside from this minor inconvenience, I would highly recommend staying here.  The pool is very nice and the atmosphere can't be beat.  The staff is very friendly and the free breakfast is tasty.

I'm in the Place d'Armes right this second, sitting on the toilet.  Why am I sitting on the toilet?  It's the only place in the whole room that has reliable wireless reception.

The room itself is musty and the bed is hard as a rock, to boot.

The only upside is that it has a very good location right in the French Quarter.  I'd never stay here again, though, and I recommend you avoid it.

One of my friends runs the IT for this set of 3 hotels in the French Quarter, so I have to admit I usually get a hook up when we come here, but even if we didn't know anyone I think we'd have a good time here.

We came here right after Katrina to help infuse the economy with a little cash, and this is our hotel of choice now. It doesn't hurt that it's spitting distance from Broussard's (see review).

We stay in the courtyard, yes it's more expensive but there's nothing cooler than coming back with your take-out beignets and coffee from Cafe du Monde to sit among the flowers, wrought iron and greenery in this beautiful courtyard.  MUCH better than sitting at those sticky tables!

They also have a pool (unheated, skinny people beware), king sized beds, egyptian cotton sheets in case you get any sleep in - and of course it's walking distance to everything. The front desk lady is VERY helpful if you're looking for touristy things to do. Come here and you won't regret it.

This had to be one of the worst places we "almost" stayed at--worse than any Motel 6 I've ever stayed at.

We arrived into a room so cloying with mustiness, we just knew the odor would permeate our hair and clothes.  We asked for another room and found it to be equally horrible in a dark and dank way.

We were told that a credit could not be given as their was no manager on duty.  Thankfully, prior to leaving for another hotel, we asked our host to write a note indicating her agreement with our assessment of the state of the rooms, for the next day, when we arrived back to ask for our credit, we were told we should have got one the evening before.  If we had not produced the handwritten note from our prior night's host, I regret that we may not have been properly credited.

While we ended up at a standard Omni up the street, our little petite suite there was clean, fresh, and wonderful.

Charming hotel in the French Quarter!

After much researching I came across this lovely hotel in the FQ and was very happy with our selection... Rooms are a decent size and if you're looking for an even better deal ask for a room w/o a view.

Place D'armes is in a central location and easy walk away from all the major sights... they also have a small outdoor pool on site so don't forget your swimming suits!

This hotel is close to everything.  It has a cute little courtyard with flowing fountains and a pool.  I must say that I'm more of a 'modern hotel' girl so I was a bit leery when my friend said we would be staying here.  But, to my surprise, although it was old/rustic, it was also very clean and inviting.  We stayed in an inside room without a view which was a lot less expensive than a courtyard view.  The only drawback is that you couldn't get internet access in the interior room.  During our last night at the hotel - after I had gotten used to the 'old world charm," my friend and I were watching TV and a MOUSE ran across the room! It then occurred to me that the brown pellet I saw on the desk earlier was a mouse dropping! We grabbed all of our things and called the front desk.  When all they offered was a mouse trap, my friend complained and had them switch our room to a King suite.  They also comped our parking for our stay but couldnt comp our room because we booked it through a 3rd party.  The King suite was great! No mice, golden sinks and a view!  I would give this place 2 stars because of the mouse, but the location, king suite and the courtyard were its saving grace.

Best spot in New Orleans...if you plan it right in the right months you can stay here for $70.00 a night and be close to everything. I love this hotel and will do my best to stay at every visit.
