This is the better of the two P.J.'s in my area, and it was the one I went to for my 30th birthday. Despite it being a Friday night and pretty packed, our wait wasn't that long, and the waitress didn't mind the fact that half of our party wasn't there (and took about 15-20 minutes more to get there). We even ended up having more people than we initially told the hostess, but it was no big deal.

The food was good. Much better than most chain restaurant/bars, especially the cheesesteak nachos. The waitress made sure that our glass stayed full, and was even pretty quick when we ordered shots. She politely let us a know when our bill reached $200+ (a requirement apparently), and even made sure we were ok to drive home when it was time to leave. All of this while the place was packed, and we never once felt pressured to leave once the food was cleared.

So if given the choice between this one and the P.J.'s in Cherry Hill, go to this one.

At the urging of my sister, I am lowering my rating for this particular PJ's location.  The two of us, along with our step-dad, decided to hit the Maple Shade PJ's for game 1 of the Flyers/Penguins playoff race.  We were seated at a prime table with no less than 6 televisions within ten feet.  The evening looked promising.

I ordered a Bass and was told that they were out, a typical response when ordering beer at this location.  I settled for Smithwick's.  We started off with chicken nachos, which arrived at our table curiously smothered in long strips of lettuce.  Was it to hide the very minimal amount of toppings underneath?  Was it to hide the strange, almost undercooked consistency of the chicken?  I didn't know but I didn't like it.  And neither did Kate, who at that point, started voicing her displeasure over the restaurant's recent descent.

My step-dad and I had "wicked chicken" sandwiches for dinner.  These sandwiches used to come with nice, big chunks of grilled chicken with buffalo sauce on a long roll.  Now, they use some type of shredded chicken that is reminiscent of a chicken steak, only not fried.  The sandwiches were okay but not "wicked" great.  Meanwhile, Kate was angsty over her Cajun chicken wrap, which was falling apart all over the place.

It was decided that dessert could save the meal so we ordered peanut butter cup pie and a hot fudge brownie a la mode to share.  The pie hit the spot but the brownie was a failure.  Normally, this dessert is our favorite on the menu, but the brownie had a light, cake-like consistency, and Kate claimed the ice cream tasted freezer burnt (I have a cold so my taste buds cannot be trusted).

For the most part, I love my PJ's, but the Maple Shade location is definitely a buzzkill.  In addition to the food quality going down, the environment is devoid of any energy or excitement.  Iron Hill Brewery is set to open shop around the corner on Kings Highway in the very near future.  Things are going to get really interesting if improvements aren't made soon.

As much as I used to love the Haddonfield location of PJ's - this location is nothing more than a simple chain. The only advatage you get here over TGIFridays or some such is the wings...

Before last night, it had been a couple of years since I hit up this PJ's.  It proved to be just as I remembered, complete with some of the same servers and patrons from my high school.

Our waitress (also a CHS alum!) was on point with the drinks, always managing to check in with us just as we were low enough to order another.  The Famous Fries were, of course, sinfully delicious.  The Cajun Chicken Salad, which 3 of us ordered, was also really good.

Apparently, this is also a great place to hit up to watch "The Game," whatever that happens to be on any given day.  I'm not into sports, so I wouldn't really know.  But I do seem to remember some pretty packed nights at PJ's involving one sport or another.

Jec and I were glad to find this place on yelp!

We wanted to find a bar/restaurant to watch the Charger game at after we flew into Philadelphia for a business trip.  This place was on the way to our hotel.

The Chargers lost.  Boo.

Anyways, nice place.  Good size and layout, clean with good service.  They gladly sat us in front of the plasma tv which was playing the football game we wanted to watch.  This place has about 20 big screen tvs all over.  Beer was good, steak and potatoes yummy.  Nothing like beer and food after a long cross country flight.  Reasonable prices.  Calamari recipe was different than anything I've tasted but very good.

PJs is a great hangout if you are looking for a place to have a few beers or even have a decent dinner. I usually frequent here with friends for a beer (or 2 or 3 or 4) and wings. There signature wing sauce (Hot and Honey) are by far my favorite wings. Not very spicy and tons of flavor they go GREAT with PJs Famous Fries, which consist of crinkle cut fries with old bay seasoning and American cheese for dipping. Beer is greatly priced and they always have specials that are very good. (2.75 Blue Moons on Saturday night for example). Beer selection is a good size.

If you are going for a sit down dinner, their chicken sandwiches and steak are both great choices. For an appetizer they have one of the best spinach artichoke dips I have had anywhere. I have never had any of their salads, however many of my friends have said they are very good with lots of flavor.

Highly recommend this place!

I used to frequent PJ's when I lived in the area.  I think it can be best described as a sports bar with above average food and without a hint of whatever makes a dive a dive.  The decor consists of lots of  wood, brass, cool shit hanging on the walls, and plasma TV's. The menu is comprised of salads, burgers, specialty sandwiches, wings, apps, and a short list of entrees.  There's quite a variety of beer on tap and daily beer specials as well (Tuesday's - $3 Sam pints).

PJ Whelihan's has four other NJ locations: Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Medford Lakes, and Washington Twp - and three Pennsy locations: Blue Bell, and two in Allentown.  I've been to the Cherry Hill and Washington Twp locations a handful of times and have had the same experience.
