This is my go-to spot when people come in from out of town.  I live at the edge of Gtown/Foggy Bottom so it's a nice walk through Georgetown to show them the area and quite a treat for them to find delicious pizza and a host of awesome beer choices at the end.

I generally split a pizza (and sometimes a salad) with afore-mentioned out of town guest and sample something(s) from paradiso's extensive beer selection.  The flights are a great way to try a few at a time without having to be carried home, and you can design your own by just picking three or four beers you want to try.  They also let you do a half-and-half pizza so you can try the genovese (potato+pesto+parmesan = delicious and filling) AND the quattro formaggio, or whatever else strikes your fancy.

They serve a freaking fantastic little dish of olives in lieu of bread when you sit down.  It's perfect.

I was expecting a little more out of it. If you have all your awards and accolades up on the wall like that, I really expect to leave happy and full. It could've been so much better.

The panzanella salad, although good, I was expecting more than chopped grilled veggies on a slice of white bread. That's literally what it was. I know panzanella is an Italian term for "bread salad" but surely they could do something else? Maybe toast the bread or dice it and toss it in with the rest of the salad. Overall, that dish was forgettable. It's 9 bucks and I would've paid 4.50 at the most.

I had the bottarga and egg pizza. I wasn't really diggin' the crust. It was more like a bread frisbee with toppings. A really really dense, hard frisbee. And my pizza had way too much parmesan. I only ate it because I was drunk and hungry.

Beer selection, f'in awesome. Service: friendly and prompt. But I don't think I'll ever find a reason to come back here.

Forget all the rumors you've heard about some sort of "beer paradise" that exists down a staircase at the back of an unassuming Georgetown pizza joint.  Stay upstairs, and enjoy the sunlight.  There's nothing for you down there!

(Unless you're looking for an old-world bar vibe, and a dependable pint of cask ale and a bottargo pizza.   Doh!  I've said too much!)

Possibly my favorite spot in DC.
A winning combo of casual atmosphere, deliciously simple food, great beer/wine options, and reasonable prices.

I'm a Chicagoan, and a girl who'd never, ever turn down beer and pizza, so the Pizzeria Paradiso and Birreria Paradiso combo was calling my name.

They have roughly 20 beers on tap and another 30 imports bottled, also offering a couple options for flights.  Game on.

If you aren't in the mood for pizza, you're going to find the menu lacking.  Hubs and I each ordered our own 8" pizza so we could customize to our own preferences. We both found the toppings fresh and ample, with a crust that was perfectly cooked.

The Insalata Italiana we shared was plenty for two and quite tasty (the marinated artichokes in it were so yummy I almost got them on my pizza, too).

Note that they do not accept reservations.

DE-lish! Went here after roaming M Street for a place to have dinner, this place is adorable! There's usually a wait but the bar downstairs makes it worth it. The decor is very "pub like" and the ceilings are pretty low but it feels like your somewhere homey. The beer selection is superb! Several Euro beers on tap and even more bottled (I eventually want to try each one at least once as I can see myself coming here more often).

The menu is heavily focused on pizza; but don't ignore the other selections because they are just as fantastic. The pizza is made in a brick oven, which is located at the heart of the restaurant. This gives for a homelike atmosphere as if you were waiting for your pizza to be ready in your own kitchen!

I love this place, they have amazing pizza toppings! But not just that, they have great salads and sides. I think it can only compete with the pizza at Coppi's Organic (except the prices at pizzeria paradiso are not over the roof).

The setting is very relaxed too.

Slap me with a demerit....I can't believe I've neglected to review PP after all these years.....
Many visits later, and this place puts me on pizza heaven. The homemade bread is amazing....perfect amount of crust with a soft center...and is the base for all their bread-like items. The bruschetta is a perfect mix of tomato, mozzarella, oil, and vinegar. Due yourself a favor and ask for a beer recommendation from your server (there really is too much to choose from), and go for any pizza of your choosing. My favorite? The margarita, well-done for extra crunchiness. All the bars are first-come first-serve (there are three, but I think the one downstairs has the best ambiance), and the dining area can get crowded, but it's so worth it. Prepare for a wait, and go hungry. This really is a meal to enjoy.   5 star review only possible if they take AMEX (they don't....booooo).

Great beer selection with over 20 European beers on tap and more in bottles.  The bright atmosphere is nice for an afternoon stop.

Pizza and bread were truly disappointing.  The crust was so dense and hard and nothing like good Italian pizza.  Blah.  2 Amys is way better.

I am a New Yorker but I was in DC and a friend recommended this place. I am a little biased. I got there late and we were seated right away. But my friend got there about 30 minutes before we did and they wouldn't seat her until the entire party had arrived. So she basically had to wait it out. From what I get, there is usually a wait here.

Pizza was good. Brick oven pies. I had the pizza marechiara, I think. With the clams and mussels and parmigiana.

This place is known for its beer but we all has cosmos. Supposedly the cosmos are $10 each but we were only charged $5. They were great. Went down like juice. Strong too.

Bill came out to about $30 a person. It was a great place, casual relaxed. The opened the windows on to the street and it makes you feel like you are eating outside.

I'd go back if I was in the area.

Drank 4 liters of beer last night.  Four liters of delicious frothy chilled Belhaven Scottish on tap.

4 LITERS.

Imagine a 2 liter bottle of soda.  I drank TWO OF THEM.  IN BEER.

Imagine a Snapple Bottle.  I drank NINE OF THEM.  IN BEER.

Imagine a gallon of milk. I drank ALL OF IT. IN BEER.

If I had room in my stomach for their pizza I would have ate some, but i couldn't since it was filled.  WITH BEER.

I definitely a big fan but they might have lost their touch!  Last time the pizza crust was terrible. It was hard and not as good as usual.

The manager did not see the problem but trust me I know better.  She did not seem to care neither.

How did we find this place?  My niece selected this place after consulting Urbanspoon using her iPod Touch.  She liked the reviews and decided that this is where she wanted to have lunch.

We walked in, they took our name and within five minutes, the host led us to additional seating downstairs.  Got seated and the waiter came over with a small bowl of mixed olives and with empty bowl for the seeds.  We ordered our drinks - I got diet coke as usual, but this drink was FLAT!  Of course recovering from cold meant that I couldn't really taste anything... but I knew it was flat... but being thirsty, I drank it up! By the way - the black olive is very salty!!

I asked our waiter what he recommended for the appetizer... he stated the Tuna and White Bean Salad was good (Insalata di Tonno e Fagioli), so we ordered it.  It was tuna from the can with white beans mixed in vinaigrette type of dressing.  What I expected and what I got was little different.  I expected fresh tuna mixed in with the bean... not a canned tuna. Oh well... but it was still good!

As for pizza, we asked the waiter what the most popular pizzas were or what he could recommend.  He recommended Atomica and Siciliana.  We ordered Atomica, which comes with Tomato, Salami, Black Olives, Hot Pepper Flakes, and Mozzarella.  This pizza was good; however I would not order this again - just because it was very salty.  The salami was salty and having the black olive, which was already salty, made it more salty!

The Siciliana was much better - this came with tomato, zucchini, eggplant, sweet peppers, red onion, capers, garlic, oregano, mozzarella and pecorino.  We ordered 8 inch for both for three of us and with the tuna bean salad and the pizzas', we were satisfied.

If I go back to this place on next visit, I'll have to try their beer.  They have a lot of selection, but because I was coming off of cold and the fact that I couldn't taste anything, I stayed away from the beer... maybe this is why I'm giving it 3 stars... has I ate the pizza with the right beer, then maybe it might have been different!

If you are on M street, give it a try!

Meh... It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either.

I had some expectations (which I don't set that high) for this place because my friend said it was good. But sadly, I was in fact disappointed. The pizza was thin, almost like a cracker, and kind of bland. The ingredients seemed fresh and all, but it just did not suit my tastes. We ordered a margarita pizza and a Paradiso pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni. They do not put a lot of sauce on the pizza, which I like, but the crust.. oh the crust. It was too bland for me. I like to eat my entire slice and a chewy flavorful crust is the best part for me. Didn't find that here.

The service was not that great. Our waiter popped up around a half wall and placed a little bowl of olives on our table and said he'd be right back, five minutes later he comes and takes our drinks, five minutes later he brings our drinks and takes our order, 15 minutes later we get our pizza, one minute later he asks us how it is and then goodbye waiter! I had to give my friend half of my water because he was so thirsty (probably from the dry crust). And then finally our waiter comes with a pitcher. We then had to wait a good 10 minutes to get someone's attention for our check.

And it was a 30 minute wait, which I don't really mind, just FYI. There isn't much space to wait around so you might as well stroll M Street.

Restaurant itself is average-smaller size, tables are close together and there's a small bar downstairs.

One nice thing, they have a very extensive beverage menu. All kinds of different beers. I got the raspberry beer ($10), my usual if I see it on a menu. But even with the booze, I don't think I'll return.

Hit the spot.
(Probably 3 1/2 stars, but Yelp requires 3 or 4, no halvsies!)
impressed with their salad selections. Reasonable size and fair price.
Heard about horrible service, but we were impressed with good, pleasant service.
Satisfied with our pizzas. I had the Siciliano (sp?) and my husband had the Atomica.  Both in the smaller size.  I think there was too much crust, not enough pie, but all in all it really hit the spot.  Loved the cornmeal crunch crust on the bottom too.
It's extremely loud and energetic, but, again, that's what we were in the mood for, so be prepared and in that state of mind or you could be disappointed.

Beer lovers will revel in the selection at Birreria Paradiso, which always has something new and exciting on tap. The managers go out of their way to bring in beers that are hard to get, and as a result, the bar is frequently mentioned in the CityPaper Beerspotters and other columns as a site serving some of the more rare beers.

I like the bar because, not being a full-on beer geek myself, I usually need a little help getting out of my comfort zone. Their descriptions are very thorough and easy to understand, even for less sophisticated beer drinkers. I've never had the nerve to say I didn't like something myself, but I have seen the staff offer to bring another beer to a customer if then ended up hating their choice. Another bonus: they have never been out of the beer I asked for, unlike some other beer-centric establishments where you better have Plans B, C, and D for what you want to drink. (Which shall remain nameless but rhymes with Frickbellar.)

As for the food, I'd stick to the lite fare. Pizzas are ok, and the ingredients are obviously high quality, but I don't particularly care for the poofy crust, and I think they are kind of overpriced. The antipasto meat and cheese platter, however, is great, along with some of the other appetizers. They're an especially good deal during the happy hours on Tuesday and Wednesday -- when draft beers are also half price. I would definitely recommend that beer lovers give Birreria a try.

I've heard about this place for years, but have only recently ventured inside.  The atmosphere is very basic--high ceilings and great light.  The beer list is superb. Absolutely fantastic.  The menu wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be and the pizza was good but not the greatest since I left New York.

There are some great things about this place--the prices are reasonable, the food is good and the location is absolutely fantastic.  I'll go back again, but I won't be rushing to get there soon.

Mine is the 121st review of this place. With so many reviews, there is bound to be a mix of 4 and 5 stars and also a lot of 2 and 3 stars. Here is my reasoning for the variance in rating for Pizzeria Paradiso - hope it makes sense to you too...

I have frequented PP before my Yelping days and have been a fan of their pizza. I returned to PP last night after a while - just never got around to pizza recently. I run past this place all the time and have always noted the extra long line of people waiting for their tables. That I'm guessing is a big reason for people rating this place poorly - their entire eating experience is put off by the long wait time.
Secondly, the place is small, and loud (in a good way) but that puts some ppl off too.

Me, I dont mind the wait - happens at all good eating places in the DC area. I dont mind the noise and cramped seating too - I'm a city guy!

The food - I like their pizza - one of the very few places in the DC area where I have consistently liked the pie, crust, toppings, and all!

I like the fact there is not a ton of cheese on the pizza nor do I miss the tons of tomato sauce on the pie that has become the norm in all places pizza.

We go to PP close to 9 PM on Monday night and the place was 90% full even then! Luckily there was a table for 2 open and we were seated immediately. Out waiter was new and did not have answers to my beer queries. But rather than give me some BS answer, he promptly summoned the manager who was able to answer my queries! One big star for that :)

The olives are one of the best I have had at any restaurant!

We ordered Bosco (Tomato, Mushrooms, Spinach, Red Onion, Mozzarella) with Sausage and Pepperoni as extra toppings. Pizza was good and so was the sausage topping. Pepperoni was not very salty - I liked that!

Tried the Tiramasu for dessert - will say that I have had better. But hey, this is a pizza place.

So give it a try!

We went here on Saturday night for dinner and found the pizza to be just ok.  As usual, with a place that doesn't accept reservations, we had to wait 45 minutes for a table.  No big deal though-grabbed a beer from across the street.

We started the meal off with the homemade bread with roasted garlic.  Delicious!  I'm also a huge garlic fan, so the heaps of garlic definitely met my expectations.  I do have to say, their beer list is super impressive.  A lot of the beers are really unique and you would most likely have a really difficult time finding them at liquor stores.  Definitely a plus!

The pizza was just not that great.  I didn't find it saucy enough and feel as though I have had much better pizza from take out places.  They do have interesting pizza selections with many different fresh toppings.  I will most likely go back, but for the beer.

This place gets very packed in the afternoon or lunch time. It is near all the shops in Georgetown. Great place to just eat a pizza, you would believe...but the service was horrible and it took so long that I thought our pizza was forgotten.

I had a mushroom pizza which ended up getting soggy when it arrived to my table. There were only three mushrooms on my pizza which was a little bit hard to believe. I just thought I would see a little bit more mushrooms on my pizza. Oh well what can you do I was thinking that it would be fine but then I had one bite and it was disgusting.

My other friend had just a pepperoni pizza which I had a slice of and that was a lot better. It was nice and crispy and it tasted good. The guy that was servicing us took forever to give us refills on our drinks !! Overall a bad experience.

While sitting in a cab driving down M Street for the first time, on my way to Georgetown, I noticed Pizzeria Paradiso (PP). My mouth began to water and in bold, underlined, and italicized size 72 font I made a mental note to eat there ASAP. Pizza, especially gourmet pizza, is pretty much my favorite food.

The first time I visited, I ordered the Margherita with fresh buffalo mozzarella and roasted garlic. Despite all the wonderful-sounding "pizze" choices that are available (the "Bottarga," the "Siciliana"), I opted to start my PP experience with a clean slate, with the basic. In retrospect, I think I might have had too much wine before eating--because I really did enjoy the food... and didn't understand why the other five people I was with didn't share my enthusiasm...

I went back soon thereafter, with two PP virgins promising them the most delightful pizza in Georgetown. Once I got my personal pie, I proceeded to wolf it down to find it upsettingly tasteless. I had ordered the 12-incher this time and suffered through it, constantly apologizing to everyone at the table for having misled them.

Thinking that my second visit's uninspiring meal was the fault of a different and dull chef, I went back for a third time. The third time was not a charm. I then vowed to never return to PP.

But then I did. A professor held a little goodbye dinner for my class so I showed up. This time I knew better than to order pizza. I ordered the Arrosto di Verdure panini instead, swapping Tuscan cheese for fresh buffalo mozzarella (what can I say? I love my buffalo mozz). The sandwich was small (I guess it's relatively low price of $6.95 should've tipped me off) and still tasteless! A friend offered me a slice of her Siciliana, sealing the deal: Pizzeria Paradiso is BLAND.

Frankly, I am shocked by the high ratings. Did you all have too much to drink, or do you not know pizza? A day or two after my last visit to PP I ordered the Margherita individual flat bread pizza from Cosi. It was a hell of a lot better than PP. I devoured it. From COSI. Franchise pizza.

I would've given PP one star if it wasn't for it's quaint atmosphere, good location, great waitstaff, and excellent beer list. The only thing wrong with this place is the food. It's not that it's BAD, it's just BLAND. As a poor college student I splurge on food and unfortunately, PP has been a complete waste of my money.

Maybe it's because I'm from Brooklyn--New York City born and raised... maybe that's made me picky about my pizza. But I believe Cosi shouldn't have better pizza than a so-called gourmet pizzeria.

I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was pretty cool and the selection of beer is amazing. I was a bit annoyed by some of the families with younger kids, but luckily you get seated pretty quickly so you don't have to deal with them too long while waiting at the bar.

I looooved being able to get pizza with an egg on top. I would recommend it.

Great beer selection. And when I say great, what I'm really meaning is amazing / top notch. One of the best I've seen.

So why no 5 stars? Unfortunately, this amazing beer bar is overshadowed by a mediocre pizza joint which shockingly is fairly highly rated by some.  Hopefully 2 Amy's is better or I would really feel bad for D.C. pizza fans.  My pizza came out burned and tasted very DiGiorno-esqe.

So come for the beer, but come after dinner.  Try to grab a seat at the bar and hope the crappy pizza restaurant upstairs stays upstairs. (The overflow takes over the downstairs bar tables).

Suggestion to the owners - fiddle with the pizza restaurant upstairs.  Keep the serious beer bar downstairs.

So, I came to check the birreria out because of the other yelp reviews. I must say that this place is awesome!

I'm a fan of most beers including the very Belgian biased menu here at Paradiso. I, myself witnessed the tolerant wait staff as they served some suggestions to a guy and his wife asking for "Bud Light" and "a chardonnay". Fortunately these folks quickly realized they were in the wrong place.

The selection on tap is generous and the bottled menu is half a dozen pages long.  We came fairly early and got seats at the bar, but it filled up quickly shortly thereafter.

Overall, perfect atmosphere, responsive and knowledgeable bar staff, and delicious beers. I recommend the Kulmbacher Monchshof Schwarzbier.

I've totally experienced better.  I had a major craving for some good pizza, and I'm quite the pizza snob, so I was super excited to try Fratelli la Bufala -but for whatever reason it looks like it's closed down.

So the next place on the list to try is Pizzeria Paradiso, really I should have just gone to Papa John's instead.  We get in, the wait is 35-40 mins so we go downstairs to have a beer (that's what the 2 stars are for), which was good.

We get to our seats and we order the sundried tomato/basil/mozarella thing, and we ask for bread - it's $2 extra.  Bull shit, that's like going to a mexican restaurant and paying for chips and salsa - total blasphemy.

Then the waiter comes back and asks if we want to see the dessert menu.  We both look at him like, where the F is our pizza?  He was like "it's been a long day" and walks away, he didn't even apologize.

So the pizza comes, and literally I should have just taken the dessert menu when he sent it.  We ordered the Bosco, with spinach, red onions, tomato, 2 pieces of mushrooms and cheese.  The pizza was below sub-par. I had to put salt (!!!!!), pepper, crushed red, parm cheese and some olive oil to make it taste even close to edible.

Oh and I had to ask for water 4 times - I'm not kidding.

How the hell do you mess up pizza people?

Great Beer Selection. The bartender is really nice.; even when a girl told him she wanted something like Miller Lite. He didn't even flinch and offered her something that might suit her "taste." I on the other hand was snickering my ass off.

I ask you, is there any better combination than pizza and beer?  My husband and I, choosing not to cook, came here for just that.  Yes, sometimes I just like the typical "cheese-sausage-mushrooms" with a Miller Beer.

But you won't find that here.

No, this is a place to eat at if you want to experiment.  For example, you can get the Pizza Siciliania, which is the one with capers (yuck!) on it.  Or you can get what Mike and I tried, the Pizza Bottarga, which is pizza with tomato, egg, garlic, parsley, parmesan, and pottarga.  I must admit I have never had pizza with egg on it before, and I will say that it is different.  I liked it, but maybe it's one of those things to eat on occasion, not everyday.

And since beer goes so well with pizza, they have introduced a birrera paradisio, which features beers from all over http://www.eatyourpizz... I tried the Old Speckled Hen, which was wonderful.

I've never been so disappointed by a restaurant you guys have rated highly since the Nebraska fiasco of '08. I thought the pizza would be worth the round-trip cab rides, the hour wait downstairs and the high prices. Just call me Charlie Brown, 'cause PP yanked that football right from under my feet.

I was very happy with my North Coast Brewery beer, Old Rasputin (third variety I've tried of theirs, and they're all fantastic!), so one star for that. Second star for ambiance... I did like the fireplace. However, I ordered a Genovese (parmesan, pesto, subbed spinach for potato) pizza, and it was horrendous: bone-dry, Mac Air-thin, and the crust was as big as a model's forehead. I choked it down because I was starving by that point (another recurring theme in my reviews lately), or else I would have said something to the server -- it was painfully obvious the pie was overcooked.

To make matters worse, I was not offered another drink when I finished my beer, so I had nothing to wash the brick oven-ash in my mouth out with.

Et tu, Yelp?

Yum, yum, YUM!

I had a wonderful experience dining at Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown. We came here for lunch on a weekday, so it wasn't a madhouse, and the service was terrific. My lunch-mates were beer drinkers and had a great time trying the different beers they offer.

I ordered a small pizza with fresh mozzarella and sausage... My advice at Pizzeria Paradiso is the simpler the better. It was a better experience than the quattro fromagi I'd tried in Dupont and better than my friend's pizza with tons of toppings.

Not as good as 2 Amy's... but almost. I like the thickness of Pizzeria Paradiso's dough more than 2 Amy's- it's easier to pick up a slice. But the crust at 2 Amy's tastes slightly better.

I haven't tried the pizza (yet), but did grab a lamb sandwich to go.  It was quite tasty with eggplant and roasted peppers tucked between the slices of meat.  For less than 10 bucks, it came with a pile of potato chips, some salty olives, vinegary carrots and a whole roasted pepper.  Beware, the pepper is spicy!  I made the mistake of thinking it was a small bell pepper and paid the price for my ignorance.  My only beef is that the sandwich was cold... I was expecting something warm and toasty.  Nevertheless, it was still a satisfying meal.

Service was quick and friendly.  The wait was 15 minutes tops.  I just walked outside to check out the nearby canal and by the time I came back, my food was waiting for me.  The crowds look daunting, but I'll be back to try the pizza.

Maybe it's because I had 2 Amys pizza not long after having Pizzeria Paradiso's, but PP just didn't do anything for me, so I don't get what all the hype's about. It reminded me a lot of Ella's pizza: thin crust, strangely sweet tomato sauce, forgettable cheese.

See. The fact that I mentioned two other pizza places in the first two sentences of this review says a lot.

From the pizza alone, I see no reason to give it more than 3 stars, but the ambiance is nice and the waitstaff was friendly. Buuut we had to wait forever for a table, like many others have said.

So once again I ask: What's the big whoop?

If you're going to wait for a table for pizza in a metro inaccessible area, 2 Amys would be a better bet.

Ironically, we came to Georgetown and end up in a place that does not remind us so much of Georgetown. It's true what most reviewers say about the area's nobilitas, but the atmosphere here is harmless and people tend to keep to themselves. Who's complaining?

Crowd control seems to be an issue here. Our plan for the evening was to have dinner at the Pizzeria upstairs, then head downstairs for drinks. Since it was a 30 minute wait for a table, we left our names with the hostess. To kill time, we decided to go to the Birreria early.

We found a cozy spot by the fireplace. Shortly afterwards, two GU frat boys joined in and asked if they could share the coveted space with us. We couldn't say NO since this area is normally reserved for groups. They offered to buy us drinks, but I insisted on seeing their IDs first. When I was 20 years old, never dreamed I'd be playing with 10 year old boys some day. Fast forward a decade later...who's counting? It's no longer illegal. No one committed a crime. You only live once.

We were amazed they knew so much about beer. They talk about it with such Steve Irwin enthusiasm and I do give them full credit for making such excellent recommendations. Below is the list beers we had that evening:

1. Aventinus - This is a German wheat beer with chocolatey flavor mixed in with raisins, dates, and prunes. It had a nice spicy finish to it.

2. Birrificio Del Ducato Verdi - This is an Italian Imperial Stout brewed with hot chilies and flavored with cocoa, coffee, and smoke.

3. Bell's Hop Slam IPA - This is an overly hopped "cult beer" with a bitter taste and biting finish.

4. Orkney Dark Island Reserve - This is a Scottish ale with sweet roasted malt. It has warm Scotch overtones of peat and smoke.

Oddly, the hostess never came by to get us. Maybe she did, but couldn't find us among the sea of patrons. I can't believe we skipped dinner that night after downing all those highly potent fluids!

Pizzeria Paradiso (PP) is best if you go there for happy hour downstairs and enjoy their deals.  A lot of people don't know about the downstairs area but that's the only reason to go here.  They have a superb beer selection (try the beer on cask, as well as the Dogfish Head IPA 120) and the bartenders and staff are all pretty cool.  Definitely go here instead of The Brickskeller.

There's no real bar food here unfortunately, or things to snack on.  The pizza I feel is kind of weak and bland.  Not really worth it.

I'm a big fan of PIzzeria Paradiso and I made sure it was high on my list of Things to Do Before I Leave DC.  First and foremost, what most attracts me to this place is the beer.  It is likely has one of the best curated on-tap selections, only second to if not on par with Brasserie Beck.  The pizza is great, too, although I do remember the pizza being better prior to my last visit.  The crust is high quality, freshly baked and the pizza is baked in a brick oven (and you can see them!).  The service is attentive yet stand off-ish, a plus for me personally.  The space is well decorated but there's too many hard surfaces making the acoustics pretty grating.  Nonetheless, I still highly recommend it and check out the Birreria downstairs.

The restaurant is situated on a busy street in a large shopping area. Very nice location.

For me being from Los Angeles on a trip to the east coast, I was looking forward to seeing some East Coast Italian food.

Sadly, we bought a $26 Pizza Paradiso($15.50 + $1.35 for each topping) with pesto, onions, and garlic. It was good, but it was nothing fantastic.

The pizza is freshly made and wood-fired, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I have had better in LA.

Beer and Pizza, but not the miller lite and delivery kind!  This is a more upscale version that is much more satisfying to the taste buds.

Their draft list is incredibly impressive.  My nooby-self almost ordered the strongest stout in the world just because I wanted a stout and did not notice that it had 18% alcohol in it!  I changed it to a 4.5% stout just before it was too late.  I can't remember what it was called, but it was pretty tasty.

We ordered two 8in pizzas: Bosco (spinach, mozz, tomatoes, red onion, mushrooms), and a make-your-own Paradiso (pepperoni, sweet peppers, tomatoes, mozz).  Both were delicious!!  Just enough crunch in the crust and lot of flavor in the ingredients.  They definitely know how to make good pizza.

Now to try 2 Amys

Very tasty pizza. Good wine and beer (on tap and imported) selection too. That's what bumps this place up to 4 stars for me. It's such a comfortable place to have a drink. Perfect for relaxing in the evening. The pizzas come in two sizes 8 and 12. We typically split the 12 inch and leave satisfied. The toppings are all fresh and the pricing is right ($10-$15 a pie).

If you come on an off night there is no wait. There's supposed to be moving locations to deal with this problem.

damn good pizza, simple salads, and a beer list worthy of awards.  it's the kind of place every neighborhood should have (except then it wouldn't be nearly as special).  it's sad when atheirpizza is one of my favorite meals when visiting this city

or maybe it isn't so sad.

only ding to the restaurant....our waitress was miserable.  I have watched movies of people building railroads as part of some penal system that looked like they were enjoying life more than this wet mop.  sadly for her, everyone else that worked here was super-friendly, so she stuck out even more.

Birreria Paradiso is the excellent companion to the mediocre Pizzeria Paradiso.  I like that all pretensions of being in a Georgetown restaurant are gone when you head downstairs to the Birreria.  They do one thing, and they do it well.  Serving a unique beer list specializing in Belgians.  The space is a very warm, comfortable area with a fireplace that evokes an old world European feel at times.  Usually pretty crowded, it can get loud, but it feels more pubbish that way.

I've gone with my friend that lived in Belgium, and with him as a guide, I've had some of the best beer here.  I've also learned that 11% ABV beer really can take its toll on you.  And as a result, have been sicker than I've ever felt after Birreria.  Regardless, it is a fantastic place to try new beers and to experience the best.  The food is average, the pizza is nothing special.  You come here for the drinks.

With the utter collapse of Brickskeller, Birreria Paradiso is a fine replacement, and one of the better options in Georgetown.

First of all, be prepared to wait.  A while.  So if you think it is unreasonable to wait an hour to eat pizza and drink beer, don't go here.  But if you're the patient type, this is a solid entry to the wood over pizza scene in DC.  (By the way, why can't I get normal, flat foldable slices around here?)

Anyway, the pizza here is pretty good and indistinguishable from Two Amy's.  What's awesome about PP though, is the beer selection.  It's probably second to Brickskeller and Saloon.  Really robust, with good descriptions of everything.  Basically, I recommend coming here when in Georgetown.
