Though a bit of a haul for me in Redmond, I really appreciate how I can walk out knowing that I won't feel sick from the pizza I just enjoyed. That alone makes this a five-star and the drive (which is quite pretty, by the way) absolutely worth it.
If you're missing pizza because you can't eat gluten, you owe it to yourself to get to Pizza Works. I had a large thin crust gluten-free pizza with canadian bacon and green peppers (my favorite combo!) and enjoyed every bite. I may have to recreate my old Zeek's favorite on another trip (I miss you, deliciously porktastic John Candy!) but next time, I'm going to be all about the spaghetti! The moment they figure out the magic of gluten-free calzones and grinders, my life will be complete once more.
Gluten free crusts? Check.
Soy cheese selection? Check.
Wide selection of gourmet pizzas? Check.
Helpful and friendly staff? Double check.
Take and bake pizza or dine in. It's a cute little family-owned joint with checkerboard tablecloths. It's a little out of the way, but worth the drive. Lots and lots of specialty pizzas with fresh ingredients. Being lactose intolerant (a quality that I loathe -- *shakes fist*), but loving cheese, this is a great alternative. Reasonable prices too.
They also sell gluten/wheat-free crusts for you to make your own pizzas, gluten-free desserts (pies, cookies, and brownies), and a selection of cold and hot drinks.
Pizza Works has something going on here. If I'm up for the drive, I'd definitely stop in.
wholesome good for you pizza. i am positive you will be satisfied with this pizza. good enough to serve your family. i tried the garlic chicken supreme.
Good For: local alternative to greasy pizza
It was a lazy Saturday of recovery from the Yelp event and after-party.
My good friend Sarah and I were chatting about the aforementioned events when she suggested getting some pizza and watching a movie. It sounded like an excellent idea and while I got some drinks, the non alcoholic kind and brought over some movies, she ordered the pizza.
I'd never had Pizza Works pizza before, but Sarah assured me it would hit the spot and she was right. "Pizza Bob" delivered the pizza himself and was a very polite and nice guy. We had decided on "the works" pizza: Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushroom, Olive, Green Pepper, Onion, Cheddar & Mozzarella Cheese. It was a damn good pizza and I was amazed at how greasy it WASN'T! I'm used to soaking up the grease from pizza with my napkin but this pizza almost seemed healthy, crazy I know. The pizza was also LOADED with toppings and I ate most of it with a fork.
This place isn't close to my house at all, but since they deliver I'm sure I'll be having more of Pizza Work's pizza soon. Mushroom Magic or Robin's Special anyone?
I'm going to start this with a HUGE disclaimer. Feel free to skim down past the ***** you'll find denoting the end of it below.
I have been a Yelper for a little over a year.
During that time I have heard all about "reputations" and "behavior" that I find ... unappealing.. by all sides of the "Owner/Yelper, Customer/Yelper, Yelper/Yelper" scenario.
I have never been personally subject to any behavior, statement, or message from any side of any argument or opinion. I have never seen any allegations made by any side of any argument proven or had them revealed to me firsthand.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and to respond to interactions however they see fit.
I have met the owner of Pizza Works, Bob and his wife, at a Yelp event, and I am BestYelpFriends with someone who's known his family for a very extended time.
I may be wrong, but IIRC I am not Yelp friends with Bob, nor have we ever exchanged more a few compliments, such as when I've received ROTD.
THAT SAID, I am about to review Pizza Works, for their food ONLY. I will not reduce myself to making crude jokes, angry spouts, innuendos or other ridiculous behavior at the expense of this establishment for your entertainment.
************************************************** ***********************
Hanging out tonight at a pseudo-housewarming, I found myself in the midst of a Vegan, 2 Omnis, myself and just a few hundred feet from Pizza Works.
I suffer from NO food 'issues', such as allergies, pizza snobbery, gluten sensitivities, etc. I am not vegan, nor vegetarian.
The "Omni's" in the group with me shared a Barbecue Chicken Pizza.
This was actually pretty close to, if not, the best Barbecue Chicken Pizza I've ever had. It was not overly 'sauced', the onions, pineapple and Feta were welcome additions to the mix of toppings, and on the whole it was very tasty.
The toppings are very heavily loaded onto this pizza. Clearly "skimp" is not in the vocabulary of anyone working here.
However, there is a downside to that. On the thin crust, which I believe is a pre-made, it weighs it down and as the pizza rapidly cools the crust cannot bear all the additional moisture and weight from the toppings.
The MIX of toppings are paired very well taste wise, but even a smidgen less, or a fresh baked crust, would improve this pizza greatly.
Unlike some other chain pizza's, where chicken is sparsed about in mammoth chunks, there was not a single bite of this pizza that didn't have a little of every topping in it. That kept the flavor completely consistent throughout the entire slice. That is a fairly rare occurrence in pizza sometimes.
The Vegan in our party tonight had the Fruit and Veggie w/ no cheese. She happily ate and made no complaints. Again, massive amounts of toppings was a good idea gone potential downfall, but she chose the 'regular' crust not the thin and seemed to fair better.
I do not know if I am likely to visit Pizza Works again, it's location and offerings are not enough to pull me past all the other options closer to my home, or where I'm within delivery bounds. If I ever developed a need for food sensitive pizza options, however, Pizza works would be my choice.
Overall, since I have only tried one menu item, I will give Pizza Works a solid "A-OK" 3 stars.
I was craving Pizza, and thank goodness Pizza Works menu is always on the fridge in my house! I had never actually ordered any for myself, only nibbled here and there when my roommate ordered from them, but I was always sneaking more bites from the "Robin's Special." So, I decided to be a big girl and order for myself and a friend.
When I called the person who answered the telephone was beyond friendly and completely helpful. I ordered Robin's Special and The Works. I opted to have them both baked there and delivered to my house...you can do the bake it home yourself option as well. Helpful hint: when you call, ask first if they deliver to your area...they do only deliver to specific areas surrounding their business, therefore you can control your salivating from the get-go.
Both pizzas were great! I just love Robin's Special! It has all the essential goodies I enjoy: artichoke hearts, feta cheese, a green pesto sauce (but you can get red), cashews (my favorite part) and of course some olives and sun dried tomatoes. The Works was what it sounds like..pretty much everything a meat lover pizza person would enjoy as well as people who like supreme pizzas. I thought the whole wheat crust was actually more enjoyable on the works pizza than the Robin's Special, but to be honest I liked it on both. I loved the sauce on The Works pizza...tangy and sweet but not too much on the pizza, did not feel soggy or drenched at all.
As mentioned in previous reviews, Pizza Works is more expensive, but I too believe you get what you pay for. The ingredients felt more gourmet than I had on any pizza prior and the service was outstanding! I am excited to try more from this place, and maybe even some of the other menu items that aren't pizza...why not?!
I'm going to have to go with four stars. The pizza's themselves only warranted three, but I was really impressed when I looked around while picking them up. Vegan options, gluten free options, allergen warning labels up in clear to read places.
The pizza we tried, the Barbecue Chicken Supreme, was delicious. The chicken bits small and spread out enough that you got a bit in every bite, the sauce was flavorful, and the cheeses set it all off really well. A solid three star effort but for one little thing.
Portion control!
Pizza Works would make a great pizza if they didn't suffer from too much of a good thing. The amount of toppings on their pizza is a bit much, overwhelming both the crust and the sauce and making the pizza a bit of a hassle to eat. With a little portion control discipline not only would the pizzas be a better eating experience, but they'd also maximize their per pizza profit - a win for all!
Whenever I'm in the area and feeling the urge for a pizza I'll be hitting up Pizza Works. They may not have their pizza down perfect yet, but the conscientious approach they have to catering to folks with food allergies or a vegan lifestyle goes above and beyond anything I've seen in any other pizza place. I'll happily give my money to a business that puts in that level of effort.
I really love Pizza Works!! I always get the same thing: Mini, white crust, olive oil in place of pizza sauce, mozzarella, feta and kalamata olives. MmMmmMmm!! I work at my own store a few doors down 2-3 times a week and ALWAYS look forward to lunch time! Shout out to Edna who always calls me when my pie is ready!
They also have a broad menu to suit all types, from the anti-garlic like myself, to gluten-free and vegan! Plus they have every topping under the sun.
If anything ever happened to Pizza Works ... well, suffice to say I'd be one sad clown standing in line to have a sandwich made by the moving so slow she's going backwards in time sandwich girl at QFC.
Pizza Works makes my tummy happy. The gluten-free crust is quite good, and their toppings are awesome. Let me tell you, this place does not skimp on the toppings. A certain other pizza chain that recently began offering gluten-free crust DOES NOT COMPARE to the deliciousness of Pizza Works. Especially when it comes to the quality of toppings.
The place itself is cute. It has the pizza parlor feel goin' on. There are cards, crayons and games on the tables to play with. My four-year old daughter had a grand old time playing a Memory game while we waited for our pizza on our last visit. My one complaint is the use of paper plates, it just seems so wasteful to me.
It's no secret that Bob the owner is a Yelp'er himself, and I've "bumped" into his reviews quite a few times in the past. It's obvious that he has put a lot of time and effort into his pizza joint, and it shows. The gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan options all seem to be very good quality. The pies and cookies from Sunny Valley Wheat Free are DELICIOUS!!! Very good choice, that was, and I sure appreciate it (that are "regular" treats there too, of the non-GF variety, for those of you that don't care about that).
I do come here as a treat. It's not the cheapest pizza (even gluten-free) out there, but as I said... it's quality. You really do get what you pay for. Check out the website for printable coupons. Last time I was in, I noticed a "special" and took advantage of that to save a few bucks.
Lastly, the people in there have always been very friendly. No complaints there.
Bottom line, give Pizza Works a visit. Definitely go here before any ol' chain and support local business. The benefits should be obvious once you stop in and give it a try.
Gluten free pizza is hard to find, and this place fills the bill! Bob and Co. have really researched the best possible gluten-free crusts, and have found both a yeast-free and a yeasted option. The yeast free is really only for those who also have yeast issues, as it is tougher. However, the yeasted option (Kinnikinnik brand) is excellent as a GF crust.
I appreciate that they have a clearly labeled menu identifying what allergens might be in different ingredients, so that you can tailor the pizza to your own needs.
I also appreciate that they don't make crusts there - it's way too easy for wheat flour to float in the air and land on a gluten-free pizza, thus creating problems for those of us who have genuine medical conditions. I feel like I have a place where I can go out with my friends - me with my gluten free crust, and them with their regular crust. And it's close enough to my house that I can go up there and get pizza as often as I want, too. Thanks!
I stroll in thinking that there is some potential kick ass pizza in my hood. Sadly, the pizza on display in the warming bin looks like it was from yesterday. I don't have a gluten problem so pizza that looks like it's made on cardboard is not appealing to me in any way. I looked at the menu, and walked out.
A few weeks later i said fuck it i want a grinder. I decided on the roast beef. Only the counter lady says "SOMEONE forgot to defrost the beef so we have no beef today," Who the hell wants a frozen roast beef sammy anyway? So i go for the meatball grinder. It was tolerable until i bit down on a chunk of bone and got pissed and left. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Sorry pizza works.
Finally, a pizza shop who got smart. 21% of their customers can't eat wheat and they cater to us! I'm so happy I can order a gluten and dairy-free pizza when I don't feel like cooking.
There are so many nights I want pizza, it's ridiculous, now I have options. Hooray!
I wanted to like this place because it has all of the things I usually love in a pizza place: plentiful sauce options/different cheeses/many types of crusts (whole wheat! gluten free!). However we ordered the special with asparagus and olive oil and canadian bacon and got.... something else? Which wouldn't have been a problem if we had like the something else but it had mushrooms and red sauce which are two things I can't stand on a pizza. We also got a free cheese pizza which tasted like maybe it had been made hours earlier. It had that gummy cheese texture that's not very fresh. Anyways I will try it again to see if it goes better because I want to like it so bad.
(I also didn't like how the counter lady snapped at the other worker. It seemed a little bit harsh and unprofessional).
We're off to see the Wizard, The Pizza Wizard called Bob..
You'll find he is a Whiz of Wiz! If ever a Wiz there was!
If ever oh ever Wiz! There was a Pizza Bob is one because,
Because because because because because
Because of the pizza pushing he does!!!!!
Once upon a time there were five brave yelpers who were in search of the one.. the one called Pizza Bob. They were...
Scott "of Lionheart" K
Quani "The Texan Scarecrow" C
Michael "the Metal Man" O
Betsy "the Ruby Redhead" K
And there was douchey Dfens Dan T... I guess that makes me the stupid smelly dog.
A terrible tornado took them from the safe confines of the Emerald City to the far reaches of the I-5. There they fought off the crazy flying monkeys during rush hour traffic. After a full hour on the road they finally reached the mythical place called Pizza Works in Bothell.
As we pulled into the mini mall our eyes immediately shimmered with excitement.
Walking into pizza works we were befuddled by the menu. Choices ranged from cheeseburger pizza's to a huge variety of specialty pizza's for our vegan Michael O. We ordered three pizzas and breadsticks.
As we waited in the Pizza Wizard's palace we noticed the interesting decor. It was obviously geared for children. There were crazy 8 cards, crayons and trivia pursuit cards on the tables. The walls had children paintings. Even when whizzing in the Pizza Wizards restroom, if you look over to your right there's a weird photo of McCauley Culkin with a slice of pizza. http://www.yelp.com/bi...
There is also a computer at Pizza Works so when you wait you can do what the Wizard does.. YELP!!!!! http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Our gang was so excited when the food came out. The breadsticks were our hands down favorite. They were of course guarded closely by the winkie soliders... http://www.flickr.com/...
http://www.flickr.com/...
We were nearly killed by the gluten, dairy and yeast free crust pizza with soy cheese which tasted like scat. http://www.yelp.com/bi...
There are those people with allergies and vegans who are forced to eat this but not even the Wicked Witch of the West could come up with a more vile trick for us to eat!
The Cheeseburger Pizza http://www.yelp.com/bi... tasted like a pizza you would get at an elementary school. The Spinach Delight Pizza did not taste fresh. I do have to admit that that I have never seen so much toppings on a pizza. The toppings were literally falling off the pizza. It was definitely quantity over quality as the toppings didn't taste fresh.
But as we finished our meal we finally did meet the Pizza Wizard! Oh yes we did see the one, the only.. PIZZA BOB!!! http://www.yelp.com/bi...
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Some of us danced in excitement!!!!!

If you call in quickly maybe I can take your order

I really wanted to like the pizza but it didn't do it for me. I tried their whole crust, thick crust and specialty crust and didn't feel like it was up to par with even Pizza Hut. The toppings didn't taste fresh and were disappointing. I even went back a week later and ordered two more pizza's and more breadsticks. The second time the breadsticks came out with cold marinara sauce. http://www.yelp.com/bi...
On the upside the "Works" pizza was by far the best pizza I tasted there. Also their specialty pizza are geared to those with special dietary needs so if you need real vegan pizza this is the place to go.
I do encourage any yelpers who are visiting (or living) in Bothell to support your fellow yelpers by visiting Pizza Works. Now don't get excited because not everyone gets to meet the Wizard called Pizza Bob!
But after visiting I am sure you will be jumping for joy...

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Pizza Works yet. We've been there many times, I just assumed I had helped spread the word...so, here's the word! Pizza Works is tucked away in a strip mall between Kenmore and Kirkland, on Juanita Drive. The great thing about Pizza Works is the availability of gluten-free pizza. They can cook it for you or it can be made to take & bake. The staff at PW is knowledgeable about GF dining and they are a friendly group of people. The pizzas (I've had both the GF and glutenfull) are very tasty and the prices are great. My GF companion can't get enough of Pizza Works and is sending her GF buddies in the directtion of PW.
Pizza Works recently raised their prices but it is still very affordable compared to other pizza places. The Pizza Works experience is nice because the staff actually acknowledge your presence unlike many places that slide your pizza across the counter and go about their business. It's a good idea to call ahead of time to place an order otherwise you might have to wait. Even if sometimes there's a wait, the service is friendly and the staff genuinely seem to care about their customers.
The Pizza Works decor is kinda funky and the menu has way too many items making it hard to read. They have magazines to read (some new ones would be nice!) and a computer for internet access. It's a comfortable spot but in need of some TLC. But, it's all about the pizza which is great. Pizza Works provides food that those on a GF lifestyle can't easily find and for that they should be commended!
As a disclaimer... Yelp is a place where people share their own, personal OPINIONS and OBSERVATIONS on places they visit and the experiences that they have. That being said, this is not an attack, this is just merely my opinion of my experience at Pizza Works.
After making the epic trek to Pizza Works in Bothell with a few other fabulous Yelpers, we finally located and wandered into Pizza Works... but not after taking lots of pictures outside and waiting for the other member of our party. We'd heard it talked up a lot on the site, so we'd decided to make the trek once and for all.
The restaurant was clean with child-like artwork on the walls and streetposts in the middle of the floor, decorated festively with garland a la barber posts. There's a computer with free wifi during business hours (the wifi is shut off when the shop is closed, understandably) and playing cards, crayons, and trivial pursuit cards at the tables for some pre pizza-ing entertainment.
The menuboard is somewhat confusing, we reverted to the paper menus to choose our pies. We selected a small gluten-free, soy cheese Mediterranean pizza, a small cheeseburger pizza, and a large Spinach pizza. Topped it off with an order of breadsticks. I have to say, the breadsticks were my favorite part. Of the three pizzas, to me, the spinach was the tastiest, but none of them were spectacular, or worth a return trip. Although I'm aware that they were made fresh, none of them were piping hot as I'd expected. The gluten free crust and soy cheese were as I'd expected, but caught others in my party off guard. I believe someone used the word "stale." There was also an obvious lack of ambient sound (no music was being played overhead), which kind of made us sing Prince songs to ourselves to endure the deafening quiet.
On the upside, I think it's wonderful that Pizza Works is working on catering to those with food allergies/specific preferences... and putting those things above a sound system or the like.
As I said, not worth the trip back for me.
Similar to Romio's, Pizza Works also only charges the cost of the gluten free crust as the upcharge. I like hearing that from places! I know restaurants are in business to make money, but it encourages me when I hear a place isn't totally gouging me.

The only con for Pizza Works is that it is in Bothell. Bothell! Bothell is far.

They actually understand what a Vegan diet consists of. It's nice to have that level of understanding considering that there are so few places catering to Vegans. I read the reviews prior to my visit and it was just expected. I have been 3 times now and it's great. My only complaint is that it was TOO busy to only have one person working during lunch. It took 45 minutes to get my pie today and I was late going back to work form lunch. I will still go back though, what options do I really have around here?
PROS: Great for Vegans, Veg's and Celiacs
CONS: Took a hundred years
OK - I am biased. Pizza Works and the now defunct "Dan and Dave's Pizza, Pasta and Grinders" were my 2 favorite Pizza places in the Kenmore, Kirkland, Bothell area. Pizza Works is 3 blocks from my house, I was an unemployed IT worker about to leave town and Pizza Works was for sale. So my wife & I bought it in March 2005 - kept the manager and main Pizza maker as part of the deal - so my favorite Pizzas are still being made - and I am making them part of the time. Contrary to the first review, we do have regular type pizzas, except we don't skimp on the toppings and yes we do have some unusual pizza for those that like healthy or out of the ordinary pizzas.
Come and try - take and bake, baked or delivered - best (and most reasonably priced) gourmet (and regular) pizzas around. Also excellent Calzones, Hot Oven Grinders, Fresh Made (while you wait) Salads, Buffalo Wings (flew all the way here from Buffalo, NY) and much more. WIFI and Computer Rental.
We have just recently added Vegan mozzarella "Cheese", Gluten Free and Whole Wheat Crusts to our mix. Our Gluten Free pizzas are prepared in a separate area and cooked in a NEW separate oven. And now we have Gluten Free cookies and brownies. The Gluten Free brownies are sooo much better than our Cream Cheese Brownies that if it wasn't for the cost, we would switch to them. We are the first pizza restaurant in the Seattle area to offer the mix of Traditional pizzas, whole wheat and Gluten Free Crusts and Vegan Meats and Cheeses to our menu.
I should have written a review before we bought Pizza Works. My favorites are the Meatball Grinders yummmm, the Garlic Chicken Supreme, Italian Stallion (all meat) and Spinach Delight (vegetarian) pizzas, the Breadsticks (with extra cheese when the mood hits me), the Spaghetti, the Calzones (they take longer to cook but are sooo worth the wait) and the Greek Salads. My only regret is that I have to limit my carb intake - otherwise I would eat pizza, calzones, etc. three meals a day.
Oh, yes, even though I am prejudice, I don't think even the best pizza deserves more than 4 stars, it is pizza, after all. But since I have seen reviews of lesser pizza places with 5 I guess I'll splurge.
PROS: Lowest Priced Gourmet Pizzas in the area, Soy Cheese available for those who are lactose intolerant, Several Vegetarian Pizzas Available on the menu, Vegan Options and Vegan Cheese substitute are Available, Many non pizza options such as Calzones, Grinders, Spaghetti and Salads.
CONS: Not enough Paglacci or Garlic Jim's customers have tried our pizza yet.
NOTE: Personal email follow up from person who gave us only 2 stars, yet he still eats here?
"Actually, I never eat anything but cheese pizza anymore. Like I say, not really my thing. But lots of people like them and they have fantastic service. Even I eat there occasionally. They're still the best place to eat in the strip mall. Just not my personal preference."
So, since we have pizzas other than cheese we have a "unusual take on pizza . . ." and we have Grinders, not Sandwiches. Yelpers, come and try what we have - we need some unbiased reviews.
NEW Today September 19, 2007 - Just In Time For Talk Like a Pirate Day: We just got a brand spanking new convection oven to cook Gluten Free pizzas in. Next time Devon Y. comes in she won't have to wait quite as long for her pizza. And it is a good thing we got this in the door - no longer then we got it set up, we had a family come in and order 5 gluten free pizzas - instead of almost an hour to prep and cook with the old oven, they were done in 20 minutes prep and cook time YAY! (It takes extra time to prep any pizzas for folks with allergies - we do a bit of extra cleanup first to make sure there is no cross contamination.)
October 14th, We did Vegan Taste Tests tonight and had a lot of good stuff .
January 22, 2008 - Our walk in freezer is up and running. Now we have some Field Roast "Vegan Meats". We have added Smoked Apple Sage Sausage, Mexican Chipotle Sausage, Smoked Tomato Loaf and Wild Mushroom Loaf to our Gourmet Toppings List.
May 2008 - Gluten Free Spaghetti & Meatballs have been here for over a month. Also 14" Gluten Free pizza crusts - and a choice - a thin crust and an egg free thick crust from a local Gluten Free Bakery http://www.yelp.com/bi...
May-June 2008 - We just brought in Wheat & Gluten Free cakes. Chocolate, Carrot & German Chocolate, individual Pies (cherry, blackberry, blueberry & pecan), Magic Bars & Oatmeal/Raspberry Bars . They are all from Sunny Valley Wheat Free Bakery in Maple Valley. http://www.yelp.com/bi...
October 2008 - We just sold our 2000th made to order Wheat / Gluten Free pizza.
Edit: Bob wrote me and explained that, in fact, my address is two miles outside of the delivery zone, not the 0.2 miles that Yelp suggested. Oops. He also recommended that, in the future, I ask them to verify with the driver as (assuming it's not rush hour and they're not slammed) they're willing to be flexible. Hopefully that'll give me the opportunity to try their pizza soon!
Original Review: After the mixed reviews, I was curious to try Pizza Works so that I could come to my own conclusions. Unfortunately, I live maybe 1,000 feet outside of their delivery radius - which, out here in suburbia, really isn't that far. They wouldn't budge.
Admittedly, few options for delivery is an understandable consequence of not living in the city. Nonetheless, I've been continually impressed by how many locations are willing to stretch their delivery radius by upwards of a mile to gain a new customer. From Pizza Hut to the hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaraunt in Woodinville, I've continually found that delivery restrictions are flexible guidelines with some wiggle-room. Not at Pizza Works, though.
This isn't to say their pizza is bad - I've never had it. I'd like to, but honestly I can't remember the last time I went out for pizza. It's one of those natural delivery foods that sounds perfect when you're tired or sick and don't feel like cooking or leaving the house.
Maybe they'll extend the delivery zone by a few feet. Or, perhaps more likely, my house will get caught in a mudslide and wind up inside their jurisdiction.
Breadsticks are very good, wings are good and everyone was friendly. Deep Dish the works pizza was good but not great and my wife thought our thin crust pizza was not warm enough and neither she nor the kids really ate much of it.
Overall it was ok, I would not go out of my way to eat there, but I would eat there again if in the area.
The people at Pizza Works are friendly, and the atmosphere is really nice. They've got free wi-fi and good prices. They've also got a very unusual take on pizza, pasta, and sandwiches. Unfortunately, I don't think it's a very good take. I really wish I did, because it's a really nice place.
PROS: Free internet, happy people, great fountain Coke
CONS: Weird food. (Look, that's just my opinion. Stop sending hate mail. Honestly... it's still the best place to eat in Inglewood Village. It's just not really MY kind of place.)
UPDATE: Apparently the owner is hyper-sensitive to criticism and even thinks it's okay to post personal e-mails. Whatever. My original three star review wasn't even that harsh.
Edit: Now they have Gluten Free Pizzas and Whole Wheat Crusts. I hear stuff about Vegan Friendly Cheese and stuff like that. Looks like this little pizzeria is popping out of its cocoon and turning into something beautiful.
I know that Pizza Works is one of my favorite places for pizzas in the Bothell, Kenmore, and Kirkland Area. Yeah there are other places but for the longest time that I remember this was the place to go to grab a slice, sit down and share a pie, or grab a take and bake. Now with new owners (within the last 2 years) there is now a public computer and free wifi.
The Staff is really cool and all nice people and the food is awesome too. I dunno what this other guy is saying about "weird food", the food is way better then most other pizza places I have been to recently. I guess if you think pepperoni and black olive slices are weird, and then yeah, this place is super freaking weird!!!
Anyways, here's the skinny.
Pros: Nice Staff, Great Food, Allergy Conscience, Vegan Options, and Student Discounts
Cons: Douche Bag Reviewers
Its been less than 3 weeks since i moved to the neighborhood and i've eaten here 3 times (solo Mediterranean pour moi) already.
The toppings are plentiful, folks are friendly and it never takes them more than 20 minutes to hand me my pie when i stroll in after calling in the order .... oh & the gluten-free crust is an added bonus but if you don't care much for it (i don't) the regular hand-tossed is just as good
I did eat @ Pagliacci's down the street when i was house-hunting and as nice as it was for a mainstream location, this place is worth the drive up the hill
My first gluten free pizza from a restaurant! I've had the crust free stuff from Romio's and while I have no complaints it just isn't the same without a crust. I was giddy with anticipation when we finally got there and the menu was hard to follow but the staff was friendly and helpful with a good knowledge of what was and wasn't gluten free so it wasn't difficult to order. I also imagine that they are good about not cross contaminating since they insisted on giving us different boxes to take home the gluten free and the regular left-overs. I wish I could attest to that but I ate Taco Bell last night (a bad drinking habit) and my stomach was already messed up.
They offered 4 different gluten free crusts both with and without eggs and yeast as well. I went with the thicker one, in retrospect I wish I had chosen the thin crust since it was really dense, as most gluten free breads are, and filled me up quickly. Flavor wise it was fantastic and was cooked perfectly with a nice crispiness to the crust and browned cheese on top. My only complaint would be that the sauce (I had a garlic chicken with white sauce) cooked into the crust quite a bit leaving it a little dry.
I was also pleased to see a selection of gluten free deserts from Sunny Valley which is truly the best bakery I have sampled so far. Overall I enjoyed the casual atmosphere (there was music playing while we were there for the record) and will definitely be back for more. Although it would be great if they could open a second location closer to Renton!
Way gluten-free friendly, and you can get BBQ chicken pizza and real cheese! Only complaint - so loaded with toppings that the middle was a bit cold - not burning the top is tricky business. But I forgive that for their stellar menu, sweet staff, cute dine-in area with games to play while you wait, and take home options (you can get a prepared pizza to take home and cook, or you can just buy the dough). I wish they had another location in Seattle!
Bring me into a shoe section and I will always fall in love with the most expensive pair. The most expensive jeans always make my ass look the most amazing and etc etc. Why would pizza be any different. But the fact remains we get what we pay for sometimes and this pizza was no different.
When looking over the menu I went with the most expensive pizza they had available. Pizza works may be slightly more then some industrialized pizza chains but it is well worth every dollar or penny more. I ordered the Robin's Special half with red pesto and half with the green pesto and honest to gosh I don't know which sauce I loved more on it. Robins' Special comes with garlic, jalapeno peppers, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, black olives, cashews, cheddar, mozzarella & feta cheese. When ordering I was hesitant over the cashews, I had never before experienced nuts on pizza. I was wrong with any and all hesitation because nuts on pizza gives this crunchy texture mix and is so darn delicious! I like to refer to this at my house not as Robin's Special but as Sarah's Favorite. Another amazing thing about Pizza Works is they offer whole wheat crusts. I love when I can have a guilty pleasure in a delicious healthier way.
In a true testament to how good this pizza is, I ordered a large and had 2 slices. My two male meat eating, non vegetarian pizza loving, non whole wheat loving roommates devoured the rest of the pizza and by lunch the next day there was no sign of it's existence. They both could not believe how good the pizza was or the fact they just ate whole wheat pizza without even realizing it. Just as good pizza should be enjoyed!
I can barely wait to try the Lean and Mean, Hawaiian Supreme, Sonora Fire and Cheeseburger Pizza. Looks like I need to increase pizza night to more then one night a week. : )
I was so happy to finally find a pizza place catering to those with food allergies! I am gluten-intolerant and have gone without a good slice of restaurant-made pizza for quite a while. My friends joined me for dinner at Pizza Works and we ordered both of our pizzas with the gluten-free crust. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy my dinner, my friends who can actually eat wheat found the pizza to be delectable as well! We got a pizza with pesto sauce, spinach, mushrooms, olives, and feta cheese and another with red sauce, pepperoni, onions and olives. YUM! We also ordered the Greek Salad to start--delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and I will definitely be returning again soon. Thanks for bringing yummy pizza back into my diet once again!!
I think I've found my pizza-home... Just moved to the area and was in search of a local pizza joint. Ok, so I have to drive 15 mins to get there, but it's worth it.
Crust is my fav part of any pizza. If I don't like the crust, the rest of the pizza sucks. Plus I'm a health foodie and love the idea of whole wheat crust. And I loved their crust! It was firm but not dry, tasty while not over powering. Well done Pizza Works.
I also am very happy to support a non-chain pizza restaurant, who's catering to the health-conscious as well as the gluten-allergic. Great marketing niche. Plus, they just make a good pizza.
This place is a precious natural resource and I go there whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Coming up on 18 months gluten-free and this is the best pizza that i've had. awesomesauce. They're also really great about prep and cross-contamination that puts them way up over other places in town that purport to have gluten-free pizza.
