But...but...but....I...wha....I need protein and blood and death on my pizza. Where are the nitrates?!? I need more salt and preservatives because that's what I'm used to.

New things? BLAH! No thanks. I'm calling Pizza Hut because cheap = good to me.

Is this your tradition pizza? Nope. Does it have flavor? Oh yeah. Try their BBQ 'chicken' pizza and shut your (Pizza) Pi hole!

Perhaps I'm a pizza snob but I've definitely had better. I grew up in chicago so I know good pizza but I also have a vegan gf so I also know something about good vegan pizza too as so far we had the best in Tucson of all places at Rocco's Little Chicago.

Now don't get me wrong, the pizza from here isn't so crappy you can't eat it or there's something disgusting about it. No, on the contrary, it's very fresh ingredients and not bad to the taste buds.

However, it doesn't look pleasing nor is it very flavorful. Perhaps the ingredients need to cut smaller or perhaps the dough needs to be in the oven longer or perhaps soy cheese. I dunno for sure what it is but it felt like a pizza my gf and I made at home---you know a lot of fun to make, tasty but not good enuf to start our own pizza parlor.

Maybe it's the gluten free dough but both her and I thought it was a little on the raw side. Anyhow, I disagree that the pizzas are pricey as I thought it was just right and the service was nice. The place isn't much to write about so I won't but I guess if you're hard up for a vegan pizza in the U-district, then this is probably you're only choice.

Calling all pizza loving folk from all corners of the country, nay the world, if you want great vegan food and the fastest service you could ever imagine than run, don't walk to Pizza Pi.  The new menu is huge and filled with good stuff, like big entree salads(chicken caeser), the new sammiches(chicken melt), new pizzas(thai, hoity toity, BBQ chicken) yum, and don't forget the deserts(ice cream sundae, pbj pizza, even ice cream soda floats) fantastic.

I almost forgot the appetizers like the spinach and artichoke dip and I love the new calzone poppers(5 mini calzones with different fillings).  The vibe is cool when the small dining area is full for dinner and the music is alway cool and funky and something new.  Best all around vegan resturant in Seattle, hands down.  Enjoy.

The staff is fantastic, the garlic sauce is deadly but yummy, and I love the pizza.  I tend to pick it up and then reheat it under the broiler for a minute or two, which does double duty of melting the cheese.  Order a pizza and then run across to Sidecar to pick up some groceries.  By the time you get back your food is ready.  Perfect!

I never knew the crust was gluten free, as each pizza I've gotten here has been great.  The sauce is the best, and I have to give them kudos for being the only vegan pizzeria around.  It's a good place to get pizzas for a party since everyone (irregardless of diet) can enjoy.   They also have magnetic walls for kids (and adults) to play with while you wait, but you can also call in your order and pick it up.  The staff, like most of the vegan spots I've been, is always really friendly.

Since the most recent owners took over this place it is 100% better then it was before.  The pizza was always good but now it's better, the menu is bigger and the customer service is great now.  Get the Garlic Sauce Favorite, it's the best!

The owner wrote me on this review and the last thing i'd like to do is hurt their business, especially when there are so few gluten-free dining options. Like i said in my original review - the taste was good, even great when compared to your average non-vegan cheese pizza. I was assured they are doing all they can to keep gluten-free pizza making separate from the regular dough, using separate utensils and all. The ingredients also state they are gluten-free (jarred sauce and vegan cheese). Look, i don't want to turn anyone off from giving them a try. Maybe i was just having a bad day, or perhaps breathed in some gluten on a sidewalk on my way in to pick up my delicious vegan pizza.

I am crazy for their calzones!  I never get the pizza, but I've tried just about every one of their calzones, and they have all been amazing.  I had an exchange student staying with me from Albania for 10 months, and she was more of a meat and potatoes girl, but whenever I asked her where she wanted to eat, she said "the calzone place!!".
This is clearly the best incarnation of Pizza Pi.
Thank you to the new owners for not only being nice, but for making some damn good food.

I've never been either disappointed or blown-away; when you're after a vegan (or, apparently, gluten-free) pizza then this hits the spot.

Looks like Pizza Pi has re-opened under new management. I had a couple pizzas this weekend and they were amazing. Seriously, they were possibly better than any other pizza I can remember having. Of course, I don't really eat pizza anymore, but that doesn't matter.

Give the new owners a good welcome and give it a shot.

Best vegan pizza anywhere! I am soooo glad that the ass that used to own it is gone! Dickhead! Anyway, the new folks that own it are great and the changes they've made are wonderful also. I highly recommend pizza pi to vegans and anyone else who's hungry!
The garlic sauce favorite is my favorite but the meatball sandwhich is pretty great too!

Yeah, it looks sketchy. And if you were to rank me on a scale of 1 to 10 of how vegan I am, with 10 being the most vegan you could possibly be....

I would be a 1.

But this is the freshest, dopest, tastiest, most gluten-free pizza* I have ever had.

I wanted meat badly, so I asked for a pie with fake pepperoni. But there was gluten in the fake pepperoni, and all the other faux meat. So I chose the "Garden Delight."

Ugh, soy cheese??!?!

Yes, bro.  Soy cheese.

The pizza didn't exactly look like pizza in the traditional, Pizza Hut commercial sort of way, but that's what makes it so unique. I wasn't just scarfing another piece of pizza. I appreciated every bite and savored the fresh ingredients. It was good, and I'll be going back a lot.

* there is no current scale for gluten-freeness, so "most gluten-free" is up to your imagination

Located north of UW on University lies the quaint vegan outpost Pizza Pi.  With it's modest storefront and small location it's what I look for seeking out a meal.

The place has a new menu with waaaaaaaaay more options to choose from.  They have desserts, which I haven't tried,  an expanded appetizer list, about 20 different pizza combos AND a  sandwiches list.  It appears Pizza Pi has done a little expanding of the menu, huh.  If you went  there before the new menu you know what I'm sayin'. It wasn't all that good.

Now, Pizza Pi has transformed itself into a Seattle vegan staple. The pizza had more flavor, veggies, and "meat" than before. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and seems to give a shit about what they're doing.  The breadsticks are good, I prefer them with cheez. The white sauce is still amazing.  The Calzone poppers are a great idea, could use a little more filling, but tasty none-the-less. The dough is, as before the change, a little bland for my taste.  I like a little seasoning in my crust. Basil or garlic or somethin'.  Not enough to keep me away, though.

The prices may be considered a little high for most but I don't mind paying a little extra to eliminate the carcass and bi-products from my meal.

There are magnetized walls and magnets at all 4 tables in the place which is a neat idea.  That also tells you there is limited seating.

Despite all the small nit-picky shit I mentioned, which is strictly my opinion, this is a great place to eat and to support.  Good people doing a good thing.  Go and eat a lot and spend money to keep places like this around.

Holy !@#$%!soy!!!   Their pizza is AMAZING.  I could eat here everyday (well, in theory, cuz I don't live all that close... and pizza everyday probably isn't the best idea... but y'know, besides that).
It's *that* good, though.

For the record, I'm not officially a vegan, but I do try to cut out as much animal product as I can.  There are plenty of animal products that I refuse to eat, but a few that I let slip through.  Sorry guys, but that's the cold hard truth.  Anyhoo, there again, I'd choose this over and meat-n-cheese covered pizza, any day.  It's a thing of beauty.

Beyond that, it's probably the first place I've gone to eat at where my toddler remained completely entertained and happy the entire time.  Whomever thought to put up a magnetic wall, and keep loads of magnets at all the tables, is a genius.

Now for the real kicker.  I hear they have gluten-free options.  I just had to kick the gluten out of my diet, and although I haven't been to Pizza Pi since then, it'll be the next place I go out to eat at.  Do you know just how hard it is to find gluten-free options that you can trust at a restaurant?  Yeah, not fun.  So I appreciate that, BIG time.

Okay, I do have to say that I don't appreciate the type of literature at the table of doom (you'll see what I mean).  Even if I'm not about to eat animal products, I just don't want to see that crap when I'm about to eat.  That "in your face" animal rights stuff just turns the rest of us off.  Yeah, I know I made the choice to go to a vegan place, but all the more reason not to turn me off to it now, ya know?  I wandered over there expecting info about the health aspects of veganism, but that's not really what most of it was.

Oh well.  I guess I can't blame people too much for being passionate.

I do hope I never end up there when it's busy.  I think there are like 3 or 4 tables there to sit at, and yeah, the ambiance is lacking.  Doesn't really bother me, though.  I kinda like the lack of floofiness, really.  It won't matter anyway once you taste the pizza.  is YUMMY.  Stop reading all this ramble already and just GO.

I am really happy to have a vegan pizzeria right in my neighborhood and was excited (and nervous) to try it for the first time. The calzones are definitely something to try (and then consequently eat all the time), as is the cinnamon roll that they have on the weekends (soo gooood).

My only complaint is the atmosphere. They could have the music a little louder (for the customers, not just for the employees) and it would be great if they could discover a way to let the air in. Although it was the dead middle of the summer, there could have been fans for the customers to stay a lil cool.

All in all, visit and enjoy the calzones ! I am excited to try more stuff and will definitely go back, even though I may sit on the curb to eat it.

Admittedly I am an under the employ of pizza pi. I bake on the weekends and prepare cookies to be searved throughout the week. I don't have anything to do with the delishiousness of the pizza though. The old owner, playfully called "the pizza nazi", was grumpy and acted angry that people would want to order a pizza. The new ownership is great and pleasant. They've made a couple of changes as far as toppings, and done a little redecorating. We're begining to offer a gluten free crust that I devolped, so we will be the ONLY pizza place in seattle to offer a gluten free crust as far as I know. Come in and try it!
all vegan pizzaria, seattle is so awesome...

I think their Calazones are much better than their regular pizza personally. Just like others have said, I  really like their garlic sauce. I didn't like that the spinach was placed on the pizza afterwards but that's just a personal thing. They now have smoothies which is good. The walls are magnetic.

My ladyfriend and I are a month into riding on the vegan train to awesomes-ville. We've been making the rounds to restaurants and sometimes it's good, sometimes it's ok and occasionally there's the gem that sparkles and shines like God hisself came down and spit shined it to glow with a blinding radiance.  Pizza Pi is such a place.
Some might say that the decor leaves much to be desired with the hastily painted fast food colors, mix of folding chairs, and yellow tape trail to the bathroom that winds around the kitchen, through the prep area and into the stock room. but what those people can't say is that the food is bad and made by people who don't care.
Frankly, the food at Pizza Pi is so good, my ladyfriend and I dreamed about it: the caesar salad in its tangy, pepper-y goodness has croutons that were perfectly spiced and retained crunchiness. The French dressing on the garden salad had only one downfall: eventually there was no more.
Our pizza was the Rainy Day. A white sauce based veggie  and pineapple gift from paradise to which we added the phony-pepperoni.  As we ate we rolled our eyes into our heads in bliss and wondered,"How do they make this amazing alfredo sauce?!" (apparently  it's a "vegainaise" type with some extra love). The "pepperoni" was salty and delicious-further proof to the unneeded harm of real meat. And the crust...the CRUST...was soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside with a delicately sweet/sour blend...oh goodness, it's So GOOD!!!
Furthermore, the new owners are some of the nicest, genuinely caring  proprietors I've come across. They embody what I want from independent  business: they LOVE their product, LIVE their politics, and CARE about your experience.
I wish that I didn't twice knock into the glass tables, but I would break those tables and threaten to cut anyone who talks smack about Pizza Pi.

how have i not written a review of the pi?

damn, folks.
the interior is bland, i grant you that.

nothing they serve is, though.
the calzones are a great deal, the phoni-pepperoni just tastes so good, and the pizzas themselves are very, very good. the sauce is particularly awesome but the cheese is a thing of beauty.

when you ask for the garlic, they know how to pump it.

one calzone from the pi and i'm good for 12+ hours of satisfaction on the food front.  it's also all vegan so you can bring your veggie friends here with zero trepidation about what's edible.

oh yes and you want the phoni-pepperoni. really. it's the shiznite.

I ate here a couple times awhile back and I really enjoyed it.  As a non vegan I thought it was a pretty good recreation of "real" pizza.  I heard they changed hands though and things aren't quite the same so next time I make it up to Seattle I will have to see for myself.

All vegan pizzeria!!!  SO FUCKING COOL!  You can order online (http://www.pizzapi.net/) or over the phone and pick it up or dine in (it's small though so not good for large groups.) Pizza options include a favorites menu or you can select your own toppings...including all sorts of delicious veggies and fake meats (sausage! pepperoni! HOLY CRAP!)  Other options include fantastic calzones, Cheese Breadsticks and Cinnamon AND Cocoa Stix with FROSTING!!!  Try the White Garlic Sauce on your pizza or calzone, soooooohoooooo good.  Sorry I'm spazzing out so hard but this place is GOOD and i live in sf and we don't have anything that can even touch it.  so if you are in seattle, you are one lucky sob and need to be at this place all the time for those of us who can't.  tear.

Oh and while you're waiting for your pizza you can pop into Sidecar, an adorable vegan boutique across the street with super cute wallets, shoes, clothes, snacks and lots of other fun stuff!  plus, 100% of their profits go to Pigs Peace Sanctuary, a safehaven for adorable pigs rescued from the crappy factory farming industry.

I guess for vegan pizza it's good to have this place as a choice.  Maybe it's me.  I'm just too addicted to my original dough and it's non vegan-es ways but I just wasn't impressed.  I mean, it's eatable but maybe the crust was just too thin?  I felt like I was eating cardboard with toppings.  I don't mean to sound bad, I'm just being honest.
You know, I've only been there once and that was a few months ago.  Maybe things have improved.  I should probobly try something different and re-review.  I'll do that.  I'll also take photos!
