Grabbed a scoop of gelato with the family here while on vacation.

Personally, I think the design, branding and overall aesthetics of a restaurant should work to complement the food offerings - and Pizza Paradiso gets this done right. An awesome logo and beautiful interior to boot, this place is just as pleasing on the eye as it is on the stomach.

My gelato was creamy and extremely flavorful. Oftentimes, the gelato I get just tastes cold (maybe I should up my gelato game), but not this one. YUM!

There weren't many ice cream places in the upper Kaanapali area, so we we were happy to find a gelato / ice cream shop that was connected to Pizza Paradiso. The locally-made gelato has claimed fame here, though we opted for their ice cream. After we had waited roughly 10 minutes and 3 different people saying they would be with us in just a minute, finally a gentleman came over to assist, but he seemed bothered and would rather be helping the customers ordering pizza on the other end of the counter.

We asked if we could buy by the pint, and he said in a disinterested manner that they only do single and double scoops. So we asked him if we could just do multiple double scoops, to which he replied he'd put in the ice cream cups available, but didn't bother to somehow accommodate us with larger containers to order more. We wound up ordering several flavors in medium-sized cups. And for all that hassle, the ice cream was sub-par, average at best. For what it is worth, when they have 1//3 of the store designated towards selling ice cream, they should have at least one staff member partially assigned to the ice cream area. To have to really try to usher down a staff member was inconvenient, and for their ever so slightly larger than scoop size servings, we felt a bit jipped when they were selling their ice cream for $3.65 for a single scoop, and $5.65 for a double scoop. I'd probably make the drive to Front St. and go for Leppert's, Ono Gelato, or even a shaved ice at Ululani's.

Maui Wowie....typical Hawaiian pizza....$25 bucks...pffft. After too many guava and vodkas even a small mediocre $25 pizza tastes delicious. The service was ok, we ordered quickly and got our pizza 15 minutes later. Not a terrible experience, or bad food but for $25 I can give you the info for much tastier eats that will give you more bang for your buck....

May 2011: DH and I saw the restaurant sign as we drove by the small shopping plaza, so we stopped in for pizza. We each ordered two slices. While the pizza was good, we felt it was way overpriced. Maybe it's because Maui can be an expensive place to dine. However, it's not a complicated food item with expensive toppings, so the prices should be better than what they charge.

Was in Hawaii and sadly only thing I ate here was their very creamy homemade gelato. My brother said he ate pizza here and it was very good; but our hotel had a delicious Kahlua pork pizza that I could not resist. Wish I tried some actual food...

This is a review of their gelato only... First of all, delicious.  Second, delicious.  I got the coconut custard gelato with a scoop of the chocolate coconut to go with it.  The coconut custard was like eating a young green coconut pureed and chilled.  So rich and creamy smooth.  Went well with the chocolate.. To really make a point, the chef (Yah, chef) stopped midway through scooping and asked me, "which flavor do you want first?"  Sheer craftsmanship.  Chocolate on the bottom of course.

This place scratched a certain itch... I think we were probably a little sunburned, sore, and tired, and looking to stay in/curl up with a movie in the hotel.

We walked over to Pizza Paradiso. Ordering is a bit cafeteria-ish - up at the counter, walking along looking at various bits of food.

We got the creamy pesto pasta with artichoke hearts and capers - enough for 3 smaller/side servings - tasted ok - nothing super special despite all the amazing sounding ingredients.

    Dolmas were decent.

a slice of Pizza Paradiso - probably the best thing we ordered, so a good thing they gave it their name!

I can't say enough about this place - fresh, organic ingredients, friendly staff and maybe the best hot sandwiches I've ever eaten. Don't write this place off just because it's in a strip mall. The next time the wife and I are in Maui, we'll be sure to stop by. Absolutely loved it!

Saw this as we were driving by and since it was the closest pizza place we saw to our resort, we thought we would give it a try.  We had a pretty simple pie with pepperoni, peppers and mushrooms - wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either.  Probably will sound blasphemous since we were on Maui enjoying a nice tropical vacation, but a place that sold NY-style pizza would probably do awesome business out there!  :)

We came here for a quick dinner during our first night in Maui.  The first thing you'll notice is how tiny the restaurant is.  It only has a handful of tables, and all of them were full during our time in there.  You order at the counter and they bring the pizza to you.  We ordered a pizza and some garlic bread.  The bread wasn't good at all- we didn't even come close to finishing it.

The pizza was solid, and about as decent as you'll probably find in Maui.  I wouldn't come here as a destination meal, but it will work if you have a craving for pizza and are staying nearby.  They also have gelato.

A nice example of the old adage about not judging a book by its' cover.

Pizza Paradiso sits in the middle of a strip mall along a minor highway. Vying for attention with a coffee place, dry cleaners, tourist swag, grocery store and a video rental shop, this place hardly stands out. While strolling by and peering through the windows, the generic booths don't really make a strong impression. But to counteract that, the place is nearly full and the smell from the doorway is fantastic. That was enough to drag us in.

From the basic literature along the wall and their menu, it seems to be Mediterranean inspired with a mix of gyros, sandwiches, pizza and gelato. Although everything looked pretty good, I was drawn to their Philly cheesesteak and ordered a footlong. While a little pricy, the sandwich was nothing short of spectacular. Succulent and inspired, it made me cast my mind back to the best cheesesteak I'd ever had at some hole-in-the-wall in Philly. This one could be even better.

The gelato was enticing enough that it was worthy of a return stop (because I was full from the cheesesteak) and was also excellent.

Because of the location and decor, this isn't really the place for a romantic dinner. But in an island of luaus and expensive restaurants, this strip mall place was the best food I had in Maui.

A tiny spot located in a small strip mall in North Kanaapalli Beach area - (NOTE: map in Yelp incorrect). They feature a variety of gourmet pizzas and the basics for the kids too.  Pretty small inside so you might want to get it to go.

We went for a late lunch and had the place to ourselves.  Not the best pizza I've ever had, but a nice change when you need a break from all the tropical fruit and macadamia nuts.

    This place is AMAZING!:)

Best place we have found in Maui! We have been coming here nightly and loving everything here. It is a very relaxing restaurant that's neat and clean. On top of that, their staffs (General Manager in particular) are super friendly!

Their grilled fish (so good my honey had it for 3 days straight) is so fresh, it's wrapped in a pita bread with sun-dried tomatoes and pesto sauce. TDF!!! MY FAV:)

We've had their pizzas and cheese-steak sandwiches with fries (those fries were yummy!!!) I took photos of everything so you can see what I mean :)

Oh and I got a flower from the GM since he recognized us and I was so happy! We were so glad to have come in here, my honey first mentioned the name Pizza Paradiso while we were driving by and I said NO HONEY I DID NOT COME TO MAUI FOR PIZZA:( Oh boy sure glad we came in :)

They have the best ice cream/gelatos as well. Let's face it, everything in Maui is overpriced and the wait @ Sansei Sushi was over an hour, and we've eaten everywhere at the Whaler's Village and spent generally $65+ per night for two.

You should eat here, you will not regret it!!! :)

Shout out to: Thank you general manager! You are great! 14 years of service, you are greatly appreciated!!!! and I love your logo of a pretty mermaid! fav!!!

This is my first official review for Yelp.  My family and I went here for dinner to escape the resort cost of dinner but let me tell you I would rather pay a $100 for a yummy, overpriced meal with cocktails then $40 for disgusting, dilapidated noodles and pizza and a couple of fountain drinks any day of the week!

My husband and I ate here on two different nights during out honeymoon. It is walking distance of the Kaanapali Beach Club Resort. One night I ordered pasta which was average and another night I ordered pizza which was pretty good. The prices were a bit higher than I would expect but it is in a touristy area with all the hotels and one of the few food options in that area. The staff was friendly and we got our food quick. You can either dine-in (there are a lot of tables) or carry-out. There are a lot of options on the menu which is a plus. I would recommend anyone to stop by here for food if you're staying in the area. It's a good change of pace for lunch or dinner.

Let me set the scene. My wife and I wanted to have a picnic on a beach at sun set while we were in Maui. She left it in my hands to plan it. That was her first mistake.

Her second mistake would come later that night when she asked me to try to catch the Gecko in our condo. But that is a different story.

It was my responsibility to make a romantic picnic dinner I totally dropped the ball. For a lack of better terms "did nothing to plan anything". SO in a panic I called Pizza Paradiso and ordered a large pizza and a side salad to go. The pizza was delicious and the salad was perfect for what we wanted. The prices were on the higher side but nothing that stood out horrible to me. The location was just off the main drag and perfect if you are staying in the Kaanapail area.

We got the pizza and salad got to the beach and cracked open two beers. We were truly enjoying ourselves when it all of a sudden started to rain like the heavens have never rained. I simply forgot to check the weather as every other day was hot and sunny on Maui. We ate as much as we could under a small shelter at the beach. Over all it turned great. We both loved the pizza and salad and would recommend Pizza Paradiso.

The rain stood not even close to the goat rodeo of a show that the gecko caused later that evening. I would have had a better chance of lassoing him than the approach I tried.

The pizza is the main attraction here, and it was actually pretty good.  It tasted fresh and had plenty of toppings.  I would have liked it to have been a little warmer, but that's the risk you run when you just buy a slice instead of a whole pie.

What's fun about this place is that there are other decent non-pizza offerings, including gyros and sandwiches.  Some of us ordered these, and they were also good.  It's not terribly inexpensive, but I've certainly paid more for a pizza of inferior quality in San Francisco.

The owners clearly take pride in their restaurant because the interior is a clear step up from the strip mall it's located in.

Overall, it's a great alternative to the big pizza chains that pepper the Lahaina area, especially if not everyone in your group wants pizza.

My wife and I were staying across the street at one of the condos when we crossed to go to the grocery. We noticed the Pizza place and we said we would check it out later. We noticed it didn't look to overly impressive from the front (curb appeal) but when you walk through the door , it is nicer more up scale inside. We ordered a pizza to go and took it back to our room. It was a good pizza. We are huge pizza snobs....so to say it was the best would be fibbing. But it was good! We returned a week later for lunch and had the cheese-steak sandwich and the penni pasta Florentine , both were delicious. Take note: we came back, that says a lot when your on vacation.
Note: They sell a rub for your chicken or pork called " Orange chipotle citrus rub" by simpatico . It is very tasty on your chicken and pork.

Pizza Paradiso was probably my favorite "non-hawaiian" food spots. Their pizza is great and the atmosphere and staff are definately cool. Although the pizza is a 5 star, their pasta was more like a 3.5 star. The price on the pasta didn't seem of adequate value and their take on some traditional pasta dishes seemed mediocre. Would definately return - however, I'll be sticking to the pizza.

My first evening on my vacation in Maui....I chose to eat a very expensive pizza joint.  It says "Best Pizza in Maui!"....NOT....based on the price alone!!!

I decided to take it to go and eat it back at my room. It was a decent pizza. But I definitely thought their large pizza is a medium sized portion with an extra large price tag attached to it.

Although....I give the establishment tasty props....the pizza I ordered were the Hawaiian Pizza and other half was a simple Pepperoni and Cheese.

Definitely not the best pizza in Maui....based on the overblown price of it.  I rather go to Pizza Hut or Round Table down the highway.

Two stars is not that bad if you consider that people want to go to a pizza joint that they probably can't get in their mainland home. My two star rating is totally based on price per portion percentages.

We ordered pizza here one night for an inexpensive dinner.  We ordered 2 medium pizza's for 5 adults and it was just enough food - we ended up having one piece left over.

We ordered 2 pizza's that they cooked 1/2 way for us since it was only 4:30pm and we were not ready to eat. We just popped then in the oven for about 15 more minutes and they were done to perfection. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza and some kind of combo pizza.

Be warned - it is not the best pizza in the world but it is decent. It also does not take a huge dent out of your pocket book when you eat out every night in Maui. Feeding 5 adults for under $45 is a great deal here....

Great locals pizza and pasta place. Ate there twice for a less expensive choice when in Maui. Food was terrific and the only negative might be for the dine in plastic dinner ware and paper plates. Get past that and you have a great inexpensive meal. Super thin crust on pizza which was very good and not filling. Had the pasta the second time and was great.

Leave it to me to order gyros at a place called "Pizza Paradiso" but I'm glad I did. The succulent meat was mixed with just the right amount of yogurt, surrounded by the freshest, softest pita bread I've ever eaten. The stuffed grape leaves were also good, and the rest of my family enjoyed their pizza. After we ate, we drove up to Kapalua to hike, and on the way back down to Lahaina we stopped at Pizza Paradiso for dessert. My daughter said the tiramisu was indeed excellent, and not too heavy. My son and I had gelato, which was also quite good.

I so want to give this four stars, but the atmosphere was truly nothing special. Tiny tables crammed into a small space, hard to pull chairs under, view of the mini-mall parking lot. The food is definitely worthy of more stars, however, and I'd return here if I'm ever back in the area.

Pizza Paradiso is located in a strip mall with neon signs ablazing, so when we got there, we weren't expecting much.  However, when walking in, the interior is nice and the service staff was extremely friendly.

    We ordered:

    1. Thin crust margherita pizza - crust was thin and crispy, the toppings were fresh and delicious, it may have had a bit too much oil drizzled over the top.
    2. Caesar salad - romaine lettuce leaves were crisp and fresh (no wilted leaves), salad dressing was right on.
    3. Gelato for dessert - 1 scoop orange creamsicle, 1 scoop nutty monkey...mmm....I love me some banana ice cream.

All in all, dinner was roughly $40 for 2 people, quite costly, but looks like they use local/organic ingredients where ever possible and our meal hit the spot, so no complaints here.

Ok, I'll admit it, I am spoiled when it come to pizza.  It seems to be everywhere these days and I love all of it.  Thin thick meat not all get me going.

On a recent vacation on Maui we were craving pizza and came across Pizza Paradiso, close to our condo and friendly on the phone.

Look, the pizza was great, a good blend of vegetables, some pesto and a truly thin crispy crust.

However..a small problem.  It was called a large.  It wasn't large at all.

We are not big eaters.  At all.  It was cut into 12 miniature slices that three of us devoured easy.  If son Mark would have been there he could have eaten the whole thing.

While the pizza was great, at $27 they can't be close to personal size.

    Can you make them bigger?

Pizza paradiso is good for a last minute, "I'm hungry, feed me now" kind of feeling. The pizza is ready, marinating under heat lamps, the salad is pre-packaged, the POG is even pre-poured. I ordered a cheese-steak, fries and tiramasu to share with Virak R. back at the hotel. The bread overpowers the cheese-steak because there is a very small portion of steak, which was overcooked to the point of chewy. Make sure to grab some hot sauce, this sandwich desperately needs a kick and the hot sauce does the trick. The POG was refreshing and perfect for an afternoon on the island. I've had better tiramasu, but it was delicious just the same and pre-packaged so I was able to easily save it for later. I don't know why some people go on and on about the fries, they were small and limp and you know that's not my kinda fry. The total was 35 bucks for 1 drink, 1 large sandwich, 1 small fry and 2 tiramasus. Way overpriced, but it fed us and was partially good. I don't think I'll be coming back....unless I'm hungry and nothing else is open.

Tiramisu is voted as the best in Maui but I have had better. This place is expensive but still this pizza was well worth it. Wish I had found this place earlier.

Good Pizza, not great.  Pizza is so subjective.  Crust is thin,  but lacking a good bite.  Toppings good and fresh, sauce is strong.  Definately better than chain, but not up to a San Francisco or New York style pizza.  I would go there again unless I heard it dropped off in quality or if  something newer and better reviewed came along.

Hubby ordered a pineapple & mushroom pizza and I had an order of penne florentine to take back to our hotel.  Everything they had in disply looked pretty good.  The food was good but nothing mind blowing.  Portions were moderate but I did kind of think it was expensive.  For a medium sized pizza and order of pasta, it was about $30.  For that price, I would've rather just gone to a sit down restaurant.  Oh ya, and even though it's a pizza place, they have a selection of Greek food...random.

Another little italian cum greek delight in Maui ....its located in a strip mall in the Kaanapali beach area. Its a good "to go" place , the pastas are fresh and excellent, a very great Falafel wrap and great Tiramisu.....definitely worth checking out for some homestyle food. Try the Penne in Tomato Cream sauce....YUMMMO
