8 reviews for Pizza Movers
It's edible and cheap...that's about all I can give them. When you're below the Mason-Dixon Line, however, "edible" is sometimes the best you can hope for with pizza. Stupid Mason-Dixon Line...what do you have against pizza and bagels?!?
The carryout special is where it's at - $7.99 for a large one-topping that can feed one person for about three days straight.
Good Pizza from a neighborhood place. People are friendly. Crust is tasty. Price is right.
Why are you reading this review??
It's 12 midnight. You're in Takoma Park. You don't have a choice!
You will shell out more money than you should for a horrible meatball sub: bread, not enough sauce, three old, huge meatballs.
And then, next time, you will order a small pizza with no toppings. Only price point worth going for, here.
Um, I love Pizza Movers. We used to get it once a week, and it used to be $7 for a large pizza! That's only if you pick up, keep in mind. The price doubles if you have it delivered. Now it's $8,but the pizza is huge, and it's gooooood. I am an authority because pizza is my favorite food, so, you know, you should believe what I say. This isn't brick-oven, wood-fired, blah-blah-blah pizza, but thick crust with lots of cheese and tomato sauce. We like jalapenos, but my boyfriend said the chicken wasn't very good. I cannot argue with people who say that the service is awful. My boyfriend always cusses at the phone when he finishes calling in our order, but for $8, who cares? It's not a sit-down restaurant, so you're only dealing with them for a few minutes.
And make sure you're calling the right Pizza Movers. There's another one on Flower, three blocks from my apartment, that we don't go to because they don't have the super cheap deal for picking up. What? Why, Flower Pizza Movers, why? You are missing out on many of my dollars.
Yes it would be easier if you spoke spanish while ordering and their menu does need help with spelling and grammer but all in all i have always loved their pizza and if you pick it up the price is hard to beat!
If I could give zero stars, I would. Why? Because, how am I supposed to rate a restaurant that won't deliver to me? It's not like I live far away. They offer delivery, I live 0.8 miles away and yet they refuse to deliver. When I asked why, I was met with hostility. The guy I spoke with said that they "have to have limits" (whatever that means). I pointed out that their restaurant is within walking distance of our apartment complex, but he said that they do not deliver that far away. What BS. This conversation went on for a few minutes before I gave up and decided it was not worth my breath. I informed him that I would be Yelping his restaurant, and he simply said, "that's fine." It is obvious that customer satisfaction is not a priority at Pizza Movers, because they are afraid to cross that magic line into the District. I would hate to think of the possible reasons why they are unwilling to drive 10 blocks to deliver a pizza to a hungry would-be-patron (who orders a pizza at least once a week). I could have driven to them, or even walked, but the whole concept of them not wanting to deliver to us was so dissuading, that I chose to order from someone else who was willing to cross over from the Maryland side. I know I certainly will never (try to) order from Pizza Movers again.
Update: Before heading to the Takoma Park Farmers Market a few days after this review was written, I went into Pizza Movers to inquire about their delivery policy.
Me: Do you deliver?
Them: Yes, where do you live?
Me: How far away will you deliver?
Them: Where do you live?
Me: In DC.
Them: We don't deliver past Georgia Avenue. Where in DC do you live?
Me: On Butternut Street.
Them: Where on Butternut?
Me: 9th Street (and Butternut).
Them: Yes, we'll deliver to the 900 block.
Even though by their own admissions, they won't travel PAST Georgia, and will deliver within one block of our apartment on the NEAR side of Georgia, but won't deliver ONTO Georgia. They will go 9 blocks, but not 10!
MAYBE if I could meet them in the apartment's back parking lot on the 9th block of Butternut ..
Nah, I'm done with them.
Mediocre pizza and really it's hard to make pizza poorly. It's cheese, it's bread, ba-da-boom, just stay out of its way. So I gave a star for each ingredient. - Still looking for quality pizza in TP/SS area.
Cheap, deliverable, almost speaks enough English to take your order. As per my review, call Pizza Boli's.
