I hope you didn't come to Yelp looking for balanced, objective-seeking reviews, because I just rated this place 5 stars because it is crawling distance from my apartment.
Well, maybe not entirely. The pizza is consistently good, sometimes stellar, and one of the best crusts around. The staff is pleasant and easygoing, and the prices are solid. And they serve the best cheese fries I've ever had in my life, no joke.
But really, it's like 30 steps from where I live so I am doomed. I started writing this review after placing an order, so I'd better walk over there now. BYE.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! We lived down the street from PIzza Metro for a few months over the summer and probably ate there 4 times a week.
The best pizza crust EVER...seriously...EVER.
I love the Potato Rosemary, The Veggie, and The Marinara. Also, the Caprese sandwich is excellent.
I also like the loud 80's Rock they play.
Delivery is super fast too....
The delivery box says "delicious Italian pizza". What it should really say is "overpriced, less than medicore pizza". I went out on a limb to try Pizza Metro II instead of my usual Piece, since there were some great reviews for this place and it's only three blocks away. I was very disappointed once I started chowing down.
Sure, their crust is different, it's more of a cornbread crust really, but it's not "buttery and delicious" as someone described it. But then, maybe that person has never been to Home Run Inn. Their mushrooms were gross, almost like they were from a can, and the spinach had a frozen taste to it. And, there was only one piece of pepperoni for each slice of pizza. Just one. And it didn't cover the whole piece, or even half of it.
Being a child of the suburbs, I know my Chicago style pizza very well. I would never rate Pizza Metro as anything other than sub par. How they managed three locations I don't know.
I won't be ordering from here again. If I want thin crust junk pizza, I'll order Rosati's. Sure, it's not the best of the pizza world but sometimes you're craving that paper thin junk pizza.
Now, what to do with the rest of that pizza I ordered?
Best thin crust ever.
My ex boyfriend made me go to pizza metro on Division once, and instead of ordering something we both would like, he ordered a thin crust piece of crap with potatoes on it. I hated it, and resented him until we ultimately broke up. I swore I hated Pizza Metro and vowed never to eat that piece of cardboard with potatoes on it again.
Anyway, fast forward two years and I unknowingly bit into a pizza metro pizza at a board meeting for my dog rescue. I loved this pizza. It was the regular crust with tomatoes, and now everytime we have a meeting at this location I find myself demanding pizza. The crust is awesome, perfectly crunchy, and the sauce is perfect.
Minus one star for being slow as hell and making me sit through half of the Project Runway model show while shoving pizza down my throat so I could go home and fall asleep. Otherwise, delicious pizza, fair price, delicious toppings.
I've come to appreciate Pizza Metro's pizza more, the longer I'd lived here. It really doesn't tase like anything else. It has a weird chewy/crunchy texture, but not crispy. Its not thick, but not thin. Its still as inexplicably unexplainable as it ever was. I don't eat it all the time, sometimes I feel like a bready think crust, or a cheezy deep dish, or a thin and crispy pizza, but when i get the taste for pizza metro, there is no real substitution.

A very unique pizza. Not the cheapest, but once you have it, occasionally you will start to crave… Read more »
i was originally going to give this place five stars until i read some reviews saying it was overpriced and not that special. i agree with those comments, but regardless of the price, it is delicious pizza. yes there is one pepperoni per slice of pizza, but the pizza is actually cut into squares of like two inches, it could only fit one!!
i've had the potato one which wasn't all that but wasn't bad. i've had the chicken one and it was delicious also
If I were wealthy, and regularly ordered pizza delivered to my house, and were willing to experiment with unusual toppings, I might order to Pizza Metro II. For any ordinary, pedestrian pizza needs, this particular venue charges too much for an unremarkable product. The atmosphere seems intended for people waiting to evacuate their order, not to eat it there. Gossip mags abound, and the employees stare out mirthlessly over the counter.
I've had 4 or 5 pies from this place and the first couple were good but the one I had last night was the worst pizza I have ever tasted (and I eat pizza at least 4 times a week). It was so undercooked that the bottom of the box became soggy like a homeless persons bed the morning after heavy rain. Nasty!
Also we were charged about 5 dollars more than our month old menu listed. When my girlfriend called to have the situation rectified staff were completely rude.
Beware of the workers as they are the average beard growing, anti consumer, bad tattooed suburban punk who could never find their place in this world so they make pizzas kind of guys. Or they are the girls that they attract.
Don't do it!
Love the pizza, buffalo wings, and spicy fries. Delivery is swift as any other place. Menu offers a little of everything. All in all it's a great place.
First let it be noted, that this is strictly and exclusively 4 stars for Pizza Metro II. Pizza Metro I is fucking disgusting.
Now, the service at all Pizza Metro locations will typically be deplorable...an insult, if you will. You will be treated like utter garbage by various characters whose job there seems undefined and who surely sell drugs in the back.
The decor is disgusting. It is run down, uncomfortable, cheap and often dirty.
However, IF you are wise, and you have it delivered...you will basically be spared all of this, with the exception of the brief phone call you must make to place the order. You may suffer some abuse during this call, but it should be minimal and the brunt can be lessened if you have prepared yourself.
Why go through all of this? Because the pizza is so, so good. Well, I've only ever had the Grilled Vegetable, and it's so, so good. Everyone I've ever introduced to it loved it, other than one, but they were a loser and don't count.
Remember what I said though...ONLY order from this location. IF you order this pizza from Pizza Metro I, you will get soggy, aged zucchini and mushy old tomatoes on your Grilled Vegetable Pizza!!
I would also recommend steering clear of the salads, pastas, and frankly everything but that one pizza at this one location.
Oh, and you better tip that driver well if you ever plan to order again because God only knows what type of wrath you'd be inviting on yourself if you didn't.
Ordered a large pizza for myself thinking it wasn't going to be big enough. What can I say? I didn't eat lunch and I was starving! Anyways, placing my order was easy enough, the lady who answered was nice and when I told her I wouldn't be there for at least another hour or so she was cool about it. So, I ended up getting there a little earlier than my arranged pick up time and the guy behind the counter was friendly and let me know that it would just be a couple of minutes. He asked if there was anything else I needed and if I required any pepper or parmesean cheese.
Well lets just say that I was a little shocked when I got my pizza. The thing was huge! I have to admit that I was a little embarassed carrying it home. I think it was more shame that I felt because I knew I was going to eat the entire pizza alone over a weekend. Pizza tasted great, it even tasted great the next day when I ate the leftovers. I'm looking forward to maybe trying other menu items and definitely ordering more pizza.
Being that their location is only a block from my apartment is dangerous...
I quote the immortal words of Randy Jackson, "Its just alright for me."
Full disclosure: I've never stepped foot into the actual restaurant so I can't review its ambience. I live less than 1 block away, yet I still get my pizza from Pizza Metro II delivered for the $3.50 delivery charge. Because yes, I really am that lazy. The delivery guys are always really nice, but usually don't carry pens for some strange reason.
Now for the main event: the pizza review. The crust is a unique buttery creation that tastes like no other thin crust I've ever experienced. I can't decide if I'm a huge fan, but I find the pizza delivery options to be less than ample in my neighborhood, so I make do. Be sure you ask for extra sauce or your pizza may be on the dry side.
It's kind of alarming to read all those reviews about horrific delivery experiences and mean interactions on the phone with PMII staff. It's kind of like spotting your favorite grammar school teacher passed out at a dive bar. What a let-down, and how sad.
But I will likely soldier on and continue my faithful pick-up pie purchases. I just like this pizza so much. The buttery crust, fresh vegetables, good cheese. The fact that I routinely eat more of this than I am physically comfortable with is an indication of the power of the flavor, the texture, the smell.
They just put out a little outdoor seating area on Ashland, wrapping around on Walton. Looks nice. Are they BYOB for dining in? I never asked.
Anyway, by all accounts, you'd better skip the delivery. But still get the pie.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pizza Metro II. I love the pizza, I love the gossip magazines you can read while you wait for your food, I love the proximity to my apt. I'd like to think of myself as a pizza connoisseur and this is definitely my #1 choice.
The pizza is soo good that every time my vegan friend visits me from out of town, we always eat there. Yep,she breaks down and eats cheese because she loves the pizza so much. I don't blame her.
okay. so i've had a change of heart. gotten over the fact that people can be rude sometimes. whatevs.
pizza metro is still great pizza. it's close to my place and convenient when i've got the urge for some thin crust. if you order a whole, beware that the pizza is about the size of a small child or two.

Okay, So I normally love the pizza from here but as much as I love(d) the pizza here, service to me… Read more »
I've never been as disappointed in a food product and flabbergasted by a delivery person as I was last night when we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and a side of bruschetta from Pizza Metro II.
The pizza was an adequate size and cut into bite-size pieces. For $20, I was very disappointed in the overpoweringly buttery taste of the crust, which actually drowned out what would have been a spicy pepperoni. The edges of the crust were curling up and burned. The middle was on the doughy, uncooked side of quality.
I was especially unhappy with this after the incident with the delivery guy.
The tab was $28.00. I gave him two twenties and he asked me if I needed change. I said to give me ten back - my order had come to $25 plus $3 for delivery that goes to the driver - so that was a $5 tip total. He mumbled and felt around his pockets and his coat, rocking back from foot to foot....staring at me blankly.....then said he didn't have it.
What??
He continued to stare and I realized he was waiting for me to figure this out. I shouted upstairs and luckily, we had another $8 - exact change. I told him, "that really sucks, but you should be carrying change for your customers." He gave me a dirty look and said, "well, yeah it sucks, this is how I make my money. "
Look, pizza dude, go back to point A - always carry change for your customer, and then proceed to point B - don't get upset and rude when they don't let you SUCKER them into a $15 tip.
Um, excuse me? Did someone just say "potato" & "pizza" in the same sentence?
Yes, indeed, they did. Which means that I'm not dreaming, & of course, there's no need to pinch me.
Quick - hurry over to Pizza Metro and get your hands on that potato, rosemary pizza. Have a slice (or two), or just order a pizza "to go" so you can gorge yourself in the privacy of your own home.
Damn, that pizza is good.
(Note: I like Pizza Metro II better than the original one, not only because it's like two steps off the blue line, but also because the service isn't so eye-roll inducing.)
Awesome thin crust. Buttery. Fresh. Never a complaint at parties. Never know when to stop eating another slice. 'Nuff said.
Great pizza, just as good as the other Pizza Metro location even though they are supposedly not affiliated with each other (???).
It's the service I have to gripe about. Delivery was painfully slow, and they refused to honor the free pizza coupon they sent us! I've heard some folks were able to get 1/2-off, but not us.
I'll be back, but won't be doing delivery any time soon - I'll just pick it up.
Great pizza that can't be beat. Pizza with potatoes? You bet your hipster asterik! Service here is much more timely than the one on Division. Order it by the slice (order two slices) and it's much cheaper than ordering a whole pizza.
My only complaint would be that the appetizers are practically non-existent, but since that's not what I go there for, that's fine. I'd rather have an extra slice anyway. Unique pizza that flys under the radar.
Nothing great but nothing horrible to say.
Pizza was ok but I think I would have been just as happy with a frozen Home Run from Jewel.
Some positives:
1. Fresh ingredients/not as greasy as other places
2. Small slices
3. Short wait for carry out
Note: If you live in the area and got the free pizza coupon they no longer accept it.
I live around the corner from this place and so does my bf so we eat here almost every other week. The man that is on the home page of the website makes an effort to remember our names everytime we come in. And when he's not there, all the other cashiers have been very friendly.
Now for the food... I've had both their pizza and their pasta. When my bf and I decide on metro it's always a toss up between those two. I love their pizza and I find myself craving it all the time. We always order the garbage pizza. I love their crust, it's flaky and buttery just the way I like it. I do have to admit that at times the pizza can be soggy in the middle. I've never asked for it to be cooked well done, but i'll keep that in mind for any future orders.
For pasta, I've tried the pesto and arabiata sauces and both are very tasty. The chicken is a litte dry though, but it didn't really bother me.
I love this place and highly recommend it. Maybe you shouldn't order it for delivery though.
I am slowly becoming a Chicago pizza expert, and this pizza was on my list of "must taste" restaurants, especially since they're about a block away from my house.
So, naturally, my roomate and I decided to order for delivery one night. We got one of their pizzas half loaded and half just plain pepperoni. It arrived promptly, I'll have to give them that, but it also arrived about 5 or 10 minutes overcooked. In other words, burnt. And greasy. So, in my one experience with Pizza Metro, they let me down. I'll probably try them again in the near future and if they do better, I'll edit my review. BUT FOR NOW it's a three star.
Sorry Pizza Metro.
I really like their pizza and their large selection of toppings for the pizza. They also have a variety of other things available. But, I love how the pizza is made fresh and NOT sitting in a pizza display for two hours and re-heated.
It's great. I'd say its worth a shot if you're in the mood for pizza!!!
Ive heard that Pizza Metro was started by two men, when they couldnt compromise each started their own pizza metro. I dont know if this is true...but anyway...i only eat at this location.
Some of the best pizza ive had in a long time.
So fresh.
Everything is always amazing from here.
We order and eat in at this location all the time.
I just can't get over how nice the guys are who take your orders over the phone!
It's like you brace yourself normally when calling in an order anywhere else..but not at Pizza Metro.
I have never actually been inside Pizza Metro II, but have on more than a couple occasions ordered delivery.
The pizzas are HUGE and so awesome.
Potato rosemary Pizza - Hello - super tasty extra carb treat!
The pastas are really nice also, and would recommend the Bruschetta any day!
If you see any of my other recent posts you'll know my new obsession is caprese salad, so I finally found a place really close to my house who had it. My friend and I ordered caprese salad, bruchetta, and a hawaiian pizza (half)! The caprese salad was weird it actually came on top of spinach, but I just took the tomato and mozzarella off and it was so so. Bruchetta was the best I've had it was delicious and the tomatoes were so good!! Pizza was ok I didn't dislike it but I won't get it again. I'll definitely get bruchetta again!!
for thin crust pizza, there is nothing i like more than pizza metro ii. i used to live across the street from the place, and i would get pizza or pasta at least once a week. if i had it my way, i'd eat their food every day. no joke. yes, their staff is shady, and i am pretty sure the owner beats his wife, but i'm not eating there to make friends with the employees or give them outstanding husband awards...i'm there for the food.
while i could finish off a half pizza by myself, splitting one with one other person still provides enough pizza (WAIT. who am i kidding? there's no such thing as enough pizza!). if you're feeding more than two people, get a whole. if you have leftovers, you'll get to see how awesome the pizza is reheated the next day. hell, eat it cold and it's still good.
they offer some fairly off-the-wall specialty pizzas like potato and basil for those who think pizza isn't good enough as it was intended, but for pizza fiends, i recommend any combination of cheese, garlic, chicken, pepperoni, tomato, and pineapple. for several months, i swore by chicken and pineapple pizza from here, but my current favorite is tomato and garlic (sometimes with no cheese even). of their regular toppings, i haven't heard any complaints from friends.
if you're pizza'd out, their penne arrabiata is one of my favorite pastas ever. it's hot enough to make my nose run, and it's absolutely delicious. i've had some other pastas and sandwiches here, but none are good enough to tear me away from this one pasta. if penne's not your thing, you can get it with any of their other noodles.
every once in a while, i'll order an appetizer, and the best one i've had here is the bruschetta, but the jalapeno poppers and fries are good too. their desserts leave a little to be desired, but you should be filling your gut with pizza anyway, so what do you care?
i personally find pizza metro ii to have great prices for what you get, and their service is nice and quick too. this makes it great for when you have some friends over to watch a game and you need some pizzas STAT. also, if you're clever enough, you can get free delivery with coupons they put in their menus.
I'll eat anything with melted cheese on it...seriously, ask around. Luckily, Pizza Metro II does a very delicious, not too off the wall, grilled vegetable pizza that I love. Even if you order by the slice, it is made to order, which I love even more. The buttery crust is soft and crispy at the same time...how'd they do that?? I know their ingredients are fresh because I saw the herb and tomato plants growing right beside their outdoor patio-wow! It's not much of a sit down place, though there are tables available. I live nearby so the call in/pick up works for me, and it generally doesn't take longer than 20 mins for the food to be ready for pick up! Hooray!
I tried Pizza Metro II for the first time last night, partly lured by the free large pizza coupon that I received in the mail, only to find out that they had discontinued the offer due to an accidental omission of a qualifying purchase. Apparently they'll be sending out new coupons once that's corrected. Since the guy was nice throughout the phone call, I decided to order anyway. I was told it'd take 45 minutes, and it came about 35 minutes later, so it felt pretty quick to me. The total was less than I had expected, so I asked the delivery guy if it included the delivery charge, and he said yes but that it did not include tip. I really didn't like that he had to remind me to tip him, especially since I know the $2 delivery charge goes to him anyway. I ordered a pizza with cheese, sausage, and mushrooms, and we really enjoyed it.
Edit: After reading the horror stories of the delivery guy changing the tip amount, I made sure to check my credit card statement and lo and behold, the amount was more! But it wasn't due to a changed tip amount: what I thought was a 50% discount for the "free pizza" coupon turned out to be the wrong receipt with the wrong total. I'm taking one star off for disorganization and the hassle of having to call to rectify the confusion.
OK, the last two times I ordered from Pizza Metro II the guy on the phone was extra polite, apologized for putting me on hold and thanked me for my order, so they are getting an extra star from me.

All of the Pizza Metro stores seem to deliver a slightly different product, but I think that the one… Read more »
I've been eating lunch here at least once a week for the past six months, and it's fantastic. Their pizza is a mean true Chicago thin crust, light and crispy and just like a crust you'd see on a Chicago deep dish. The service is usually great, and the employees get to know their regulars rather quickly.
And to those who may be confused, there are three Pizza Metros, and Pizza II is in no way related (except by name) to the others on Division.
This place makes a unique style of pizza compared to all the spots you might be familiar with. I certainly recommend it. I mostly order to go and I am never disappointed. Since the place is small it's not the best place to eat with a group of people.
have ordered once (carryout). I'll probably be doing this since it doesn't look to fun to eat in. it's good. the large is a nice size. online menu is a bit out of date in regards to price. the veggie was a bit overrated on yelp - expected more.
cheese rules.
they have awesome pizza that they'll put anything under the sun on. nice guys run the kitchen. love spinach and cheese pizza and the grilled veggie.
free wireless too.
I love Pizza Metro. Great salads --my faves are the Caprese and the Spinach--dont forget to ask for the dressing on the side. The pizza is great. My favorite thing about their pizza is they have unusual combinations such as potato rosemary and roasted zucchini. The crust is very different from any other pizza place I've had. I think its a cornmeal crust but very thin and crispy.
Its a casual place with very relaxed service. Not alot of ambiance but its a nice neighborhood joint with pretty good food.
Gross pizza. It's around the corner from my place and I was excited when it went in. There is always way too much cheese on the pizza, no matter what you tell them. They do make great salads though and they carry Italian Soda that I like.
Given the name, I figured their food would probably fit in well with my lifestyle. Low and behold, they mailed us a coupon for a free pizza. We called to use it, but they claimed their marketing person was supposed to have stopped sending out those coupons and the best they could do was give us half off. We tried it anyway, despite being slightly annoyed, because hey, it was still half price. The pizza has a good flavor, but the crust is a JOKE. It's mushy and unappetizing. I won't order from there again.
This place is usually pretty great, but the last time I ordered delivery I was really upset. I gave the delivery person a very generous tip, but then they charged my credit card for an even higher amount. Judging from some of the other posts, I can't believe this is a regular thing with them.
Never again! I'll get delivery from Pizza Metro instead.
