I haven't been to Pizza Capri in ages, so we decided to get carryout from here to re-aquatint ourselves with them and I was not disappointed.  I decided to go with the rotini tuscany and my boyfriend got the spaghetti & meatballs.  We also got an order of the parmesan garlic bread and everything was better than I expected.  The rotini was cooked perfectly and the mix of chicken and veggies was a nice even blend, and the oil was not overpowering.  The spaghetti had huge homemade meatballs and really good red sauce.  Both our portions were rather large and filled us with satisfying comfort food bellies.

I will be re-incorporating Pizza Capri back into my Lakeview dining, and will most likely be stopping by for carryout on my way home from the train.

Stuffing 1000 goody bags for the Yelp Holiday Bash is a sure way to work up an appetite! By 1 PM yesterday I was ready to eat all the gift certificates I was stuffing into the bags.  And then I got smart and decided to order a sandwich tray from Pizza Capri for me and everyone else who was hard at work.

I called them up and asked for a variety of sandwiches and then at the last minute asked them to add chips, fruit, drinks, and don't forget the cookies too! This gal was hungry!! And then I told the pleasant guy on the phone to HURRY. He promised to make it there within an hour. He also promised lots of plates and silverware.

An hour later my saving grace showed up in the form of the Pizza Capri delivery guy! Thank goodness because by this point I was eating stale cupcakes from a party at the venue the night before...ick.
    Tray of sandwiches- check!
    Fruit- check!
    Bags of lays- check!
Cookies (sugar, oatmeal, and chocolate)- check!
    soft drinks- check!

Unfortunately they were out of water so they brought extra soft drinks- I've never been so excited to see a diet coke.  They forgot the silverware and plates, which made eating the fruit a bit tricky, but we worked with what we got.

My tuna sandwich was surprisingly good, the fruit was tasty, and I ended the meal with a ginormous sugar cookie.   A little sugar and a diet coke really got me going again!  So all of you who enjoyed those goody bags from the Yelp Holiday Bash can thank Pizza Capri for giving me some energy to continue stuffing away.

Two words for you: Carb. Orgy.

Put them together and you have a carb orgy. Hot.

Decent at the time, but my stomach currently is aching from all the bread and pizza I crammed into it. I think I gained about 10 pounds. We had the Shroom pizza, which is composed of 4 different kinds of mushrooms. Yum.

Service teetored from decent to meh - they happily changed the channel to the town hall debates and set the captioning, but when we asked about a few of the dishes, the waitress didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about the menu.

And what the heck is in that Parmesan cheese and olive oil confection that they bring out with the bread? DELISH!

I'll come back just to eat that, and gain 10 more pounds. When's the next carb orgy?

Typically, I stay away from Italian if I am going out to eat. I don't really know why, just figure I can make most of it at home (yeah riiiight). Anyway, after a brisk class at Bar Method, my friends and I needed to reverse all the work and chow on some decent food...and here we landed.

Surprising to me, they had brunch options (weekends only). Limited, but adequate. Regular staples, omlettes, french toast, pancakes, et al. Plus, regular menu.

Not crowded at all. Nice on a Sunday when most brunch places are packed to the gills.

Server was superb. Very nice, helpful, attentive. Didn't flinch when I ordered my standard breakfast drinks: ice water, diet coke, coffee. No, I am not expecting anyone else...I just like a lot of options for breakfast beveraging! :)

My only complaints were that my food was a bit cold, and my coffee refills were very slow. However, the diet cokes were flowing by the pitcher, so I am not really sure why the coffee was allowed to sit stagnant and lonely. Food was pretty standard. I probably wouldn't be back for brunch, but the pizza is good...and looks like a great lunch/delivery spot.

They offer up decent Italian fare in a casual environment.  I'd go to this place when I want a reasonably priced Italian meal.  I wouldn't go here when I am in the mood for authentic Italian cooking in an intimate environment.  Calo's this place is not.

However, the staff was very accommodating.  We came here to watch the debates and two of us needed the closed captioning on the TV....the waiter actually took 10-15 minutes to figure out how to get the CC on the TV.  It was above and beyond the call of duty.  Most people who don't need CC are annoyed by it.  This guy could have easily played dumb and said he couldn't figure it out and just turned up the TV.  He didn't.  He catered to us.  I was impressed.

The service was efficient, yet the waitress was new, young, and  inexperienced....but I will be gracious.  Doesn't everyone deserve a learning curve?

I will be back when I am in the 'hood and craving quick and inexpensive Italian fare....

This place earned 4 stars for that?  Really?  Really really?

    Hokay ...

Soggy dough, skimpy toppings, and a $2.50 delivery "tax" for driving less than a mile to my place and you got 4 stars?

You're lucky you get the two stars from me, but you were fast (delivered in under 30 minutes) and your salad was decent.  But not even 10 minutes on the pizza stone could crisp up your soggy and sagging dough.

WARNING: PIZZA CAPRI IS FOR MEDIOKELS.

I'm surprised by the many positive reviews. All Pizza Capri is, is convenient.

I called over here while on an L car in pouring rain, thinking it was a good solution for a hungry crew: L-Pizza Capri-Cab-Home. ( I live nearby).

I ordered, arrived, paid: but, $2.85 per ingredient? Seriously? Give me a break.

If it were good pizza, maybe. But the crust is doughy, cakelike, and basically tastes like wonderbread.

    Blech.

They have too many locations, too big of an advertising budget, and too many mediokels who apparently keep patronizing this so very average, completely unremarkable rip-off.

Decent.  Not the best, not the worst.  Cute interior.  The warm bread with the cheese & olive oil was seriously the best part of the whole meal, which seems kind of sad, since that is the freebie.  We ordered the "Almost Famous" pizza which was gourmet sausage, mushrooms, mozzarella, and pepperoni with fresh tomato sauce.

Music was excellent, seemed to be someones CD player or iPod set to Tom Petty, which I liked but the waiter seemed irked by.

Why is it so dead in there?  This location has been around for-freakin-ever, so someone must be giving them business.  Is it primarily take out or were we just there too early?  It definitely was odd. Good if you are in the area, probably not good enough to make a special trip.

    PIZZA CRAPP-Y

I didn't care for this place at all.  The servers are nice, but the food was bad.  The bread was tough, bland, and seemed undercooked, the salads were a soggy mess, and I've had better eggplant parm from my grocer's freezer.  Maybe their pizza is worth trying, but after this experience I'm really not in the mood to give them a second chance.

    Nessun grazie!

Gourmet pizza, huh? You say you like cheese? Then you should love their stuffed pizza. Ton-o-cheese. I started to order on-line and was stumped on one question that threw me off. When building your pizza on-line, one of the toppings was Fresh Mozzarella cheese. Is that for extra or did I have to pay each item that should be on a pizza and what is the difference between Fresh Mozzarella and the mozzarella that they use to begin with? Is the standard Mozzarella not fresh? Maybe I'm just stupid and over thought about it. After not wanting to screw that up, I called to ask. The people that answered the phone are super mega nice and polite...Lindsay and Christine both.

I finished the order by phone and was told it would be there in about an hour. The pizza showed up in 35 minutes. Wow. However, they delivered the wrong pizza. I called, they switched and corrected it quickly...like less than 5 minutes quick. I ordered the stuffed sausage pizza, which was good. It wasn't anything that blew me away, but it good. I did get on square of the thin crust that was sent accidentally to me and somewhat preferred that one!

The slices are filling and a small stuffed will be plenty for one person. I had two pieces and save the rest for breakfast. I actually liked it better cold, the next morning. Capri is a tad expensive. A small stuffed is $13.95, plus $1.75 per topping, $2.00 delivery charge, and another almost $2.00 for tax and some other charge that I can't figure out came to $19.90. It was good, but not enough to make me spend $19.90 for a small pizza.

I will probably order again and try one of the Gourmet Pizza's they boost about on their website.

    Excellent thin crust pizza.
I've gotten the 4 cheese with basil pizza (yummy!) and the garlic bread (soft, cheesey and huge!) for take out, and have eaten in and had a pepperoni and goat cheese pizza (fantastic!) and mozzarella cheese sticks (eh,  just okay -  they seemed like they came from a box but what can one expect from deep friend cheese?). It's inexpensive, the portions are just right for the price, the service is good, and it makes for an excellent and delicious hang-over remedy.

I've taken everyone from out of town to Pizza Capri, and never been disappointed. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, almost intimate. It's usually empty when I choose to go around (around 3 pm), but I have no problem with that. The bread is served hot with flavorful, seasoned olive oil, and grated Parmesan cheese to dip the bread in. They always bring more without a problem.

For food, the Caprese is very good. Just the right amount of ingredients. The Bruschetta is crunchy and flavorful. My favorite salad is the mixed baby greens. It's sweet, crunchy, and the blue cheese adds just the right amount of tang; you simply can't go wrong. The Caesar salad is delicious, with a bonus of whole black olives. With both the pasta and the salads, you can get a bigger size for a small fee.

For the main dish, I usually get the Rotini Tuscany. Sun-dried tomatoes, sauteed broccoli, and grilled chicken in an olive oil sauce over rotini is just the most amazing meal ever. I've had midnight cravings just for this pasta! I usually ask for a side of the grated Parmesan as I'm not a fan of the stuff out of the shaker. My family and friends have gotten other kinds of pasta and never been disappointed. I've always been too full for dessert... but will post more if that ever changes! I recommend their delivery service as well; they call to let us know they're leaving, delivery is timely, and the fees aren't too bad.

I don't know how many times I've waited for the #77 in front of here, but I never really thought of going inside til last night.

The bread and olive oil with cheese was so good, my bf wanted to ask the waitress what brand it was. I was ridiculously hungry, so I scarfed it down.

I liked that there was a pretty wide selection of dishes on the menu. Hummus? Listed as the first appetizer? Odd, but I love hummus, so props. I'm curious how an Italian restaurant would do hummus. There was also a Zorba the Greek pizza I thought of trying. Instead I got eggplant parmigiana, which has become my new staple Italian meal (I'm so sick of Alfredo and manicotti). It was pretty damn good. BF got some sort of spinach ravioli. Though it was oddly orange and looked vaguly like cat sick, it was absolutely delicious.

Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. She even complimented my shirt (love that). Props to whatever her name was, cos she ruled.

Edit: This is my new favorite pizza in the city. Add a star! Stuffed is better than Giordano's or Gino's because it isn't a giant ball of grease covered in cheese and tomato sauce. And they (appear to) use fresh spinach. Oh yeah!

I haven't had a good track record on Grubhub lately, and my recent order from Pizza Capri has continued that poor showing.

I simply wanted a hot, cheesy thin crust pizza - not too much to ask - or so I thought. And yet, it arrived nearly cold and congealed. Yuck.

The breadsticks looked like something heavy had smashed them, because the marinara coated the inside of the box, and the breadsticks were soggy from the sauce attack whilst being delivered. Plus they were cold, so the sight was just truly funky.

Never. Again. Ordering. From. Here. The end.

Somehow, I stumbled into Pizza Capri one Saturday when my friend from out of town said that she wanted a "good sandwich" for lunch.  It seems easy enough, right? Not so much.  In that neighborhood you have Ethiopian, Indian, Thai, Mediterranean, pirogues, burritos, sushi... You get the point. Everything except regular old sandwiches (subway does not count).

From the minute we entered this place, I was happy with my decision.  We were greeted by a happy staff and seated right away.  As soon as we sat down, someone brought out an absolute taste sensation.  A plate of olive oil, several different Italian spices and parmesan cheese accompanied by a big basket of warm bread.

The menu has a huge variety of items to suit all tastes and they serve brunch on the weekends.  Some of my personal favorites include:  the cilantro wrap, turkey and guac wrap, barbeque chicken pizza and their pastas are great.

This place is really a not so hidden gem in an area where the food choices vary as much as the outfit choices of its patrons.  It blows its next door neighbor, Leona's, right out of the water.

My roommate and I decided to dine here on a casual Saturday afternoon, looking for a good but quick lunch. Although my mom had raved about the excellent food at Pizza Capri, I was less than impressed with my goat cheese salad. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't fantastic either.

After reading some of the other reviews, I'm thinking that the entrees are really the way to go if you're going to eat here. Due to all the good I've heard about this place, I'm willing to give it another try.

My friend and I went here last night while wandering around Belmont.  I had ordered pizza here a few years ago and wanted to try it again.

We were immediately greeted and allowed to pick our table.  The waiter took our drink order while we were getting unbundled.  He gave us plenty of time to look at the menu.  While waiting, we got bread, butter, and oil with seasonings and cheese to dip in.

They refilled our drinks before they were even half empty.  The only time my glass was anywhere close to empty was when we were leaving.  They refilled our bread as well.

I got the Rosemary Potato and Chicken pizza.  It was as good as I remembered.  They didn't skimp on the main ingredients (unlike a certain west coast pizza chain).  The crust was cooked well and the sauce was flavorful.  I purposely went for a medium so I could have leftovers.  It was still as good today as it was yesterday.

My friend actually had to have his pasta wrapped up.  That was the first time he wasn't able to finish all his food, at least all the times we have gone out to eat together.

The waiter wasn't trying to rush us out, and even waited until a lull in our conversation to see how everything was.

If I'm in the neighborhood again, I will be back.  As close as it is to the red line, I might have to start ordering take out from here.

Service is pretty prompt, they also do carryout and delivery.

I am a fan of the gnocchi, but I order it with a little less sauce as it's pretty rich and too much just kills it for me.  All the dishes I've had from here are pretty good, I've had about 4-5 different dishes including the gnocchi.

I've been here several times with different guests from out of town, and they've all loved it. The waiters are always polite and attentive, and the pizza is phenomenal. The Shroom is by far the best, but the South of the Border is also delicious. I've never had anything but the pizza, but I imagine the other entrees on the menu are terrific as well. And I'm a huge fan of the endless free bread they give you.

Surprisingly enough, I don't even get the pizza here. The Buffalo Chicken salad is absolutely wonderful. I've also gotten the burger here and it's really good. I will have to get to the pizza when I get a chance, but trust me on that salad. My college friends and I weigh in around 200 pounds each, and we all really like that damn Buffalo Chicken Salad.

Pizza Capri is my favorite deep dish in Chicago. I feel that I should try other toppings (er, fillings), but I always go back to the spinach and mushroom deep dish because it is simply the creamiest, most buttery, flaky, perfectly salty cheesy thing you could ever eat. I've only eaten in the restaurant, never takeout, but in the restaurant the pizza always comes out perfect... perfectly gooey cheese in a crust that's just flaky enough but not overdone.

Why not five stars? I once made the mistake of ordering the thin crust and, while delicious, I spent the whole time thinking how it wasn't nearly as good as their stuffed crust.

Another local favorite...have been eating there off and on for roughly 10 years.

Went again last night -4of us in all.

    Very friendly wait staff....

Decent / short wine list....had HobNob pino noir which is kinda unusual / but were 'all out' tonight...too bad...no tap beer which is a minor disappointment but no reason to 'stay home'...

Potato soup is recommended...very good and almost too filling...you can probably do with just another appetizer after that.

Two folks had grilled salmon salad...both gave a thumbs up.  The grilled calamari (a repeat from earlier visits) was also a thumbs up.

I had (yet again) the rigatoni bolognese....just spicy enough to make it interesting...very filling.

In all ...  a good place to spend a rainy Saturday night.

Some friends came in from Nashville and they happen to be anti-deep dish (psychotic, I know). After picking them up from the airport and bringing them back to my hood, they were all starving. Well, the only pizza places that I go to are deep dish kind of places. I had passed this place a hundred times so I suggested finding something here. They ordered salads and we all split a small pizza that had leftovers to take home, which we drunkenly devoured later. It was good at lunch, it was good at 4 am. In my book, that makes for a pretty decent za.
The prices, I felt, were a bit steep. I mean c'mon. Pasta, sauce, cheese, the like, isn't exactly the most expensive food to purchase in bulk. But enh, I guess to pay rent at that location you gotta do something!

For five years, I lived in the food-delivery barrens known as Logan Square.  So when I moved I was so excited to be in a Pizza Capri delivery zone again.  Because I am a pesto lover.  And they have the most amazing Pesto Lover's Pizza.  I have had dreams about it.  It's that good.

Other things I like: the Southwestern Egg Rolls, all the salads, and the eggplant parm.  Delivery is fast and the voice on the other end of the phone is friendly.

My parents were visiting this weekend from out of town and mom wanted pizza for dinner.  I live across the street from this place, but have never had their pizza before.  I suggested going to another restaurant, but as we walked past Pizza Capri my dad said "let's go there - it's close, looks like it should have pizza, and my feet are tired."

We ordered a Spicy Chicken specialty pizza and a Deep Dish sausage pizza to go.  The deep dish was just okay - not too greasy (good) but you couldn't taste the sausage (what?!?) even when you knew you definitely had a bite of meat in your mouth.  The best thing about the deep dish was that I didn't have to heat it up to eat the leftovers the next day.  It's difficult to find pizza that's good hot and cold.

I am not usually a fan of chicken on a pizza, but the Spicy Chicken specialty thin crust pizza was GREAT!  Not too thin, loaded with pesto, tomatoes, chicken and spicy stuff.  I would definitely order it again.

I've also had the turkey and guacamole wrap several times.  Quite tasty.  When I dine in, I like to sit at the tables by the window and watch the people waiting for the bus.  People watching while eating good food rules.  :-)

Just an update--had a takeout pizza from their Halsted location and it was very tasty and fresh. It was purchased with a Groupon, so the price was great, too. They offer a surprising number of interesting pizzas. We had the spicy chicken pesto--and it was actually spicy (mostly from red pepper flakes).

Ok, I am changing my rating on them.  I now live closer and am in their delivery area so life is better.  I have gotten food from them several times and have had great experiences.

First, people on the phone, always nice and helpful.  Second, ordering on line is super easy.  Third, delivery is always prompt.  Fourth, delivery people always very nice.  Fifth, food always great.

A few of my favorites are their  Mixed Baby Green Salad, Tequila Lime Chicken Fettucini, Popeye Penne and Gnocchi alla Vodka.  I am not keen on the thin pizza but I think that is just a personal preference.

Another yummy and one of my staples for ordering.

We didn't have time to try the stuffed pizza so we went with the regular 'gourmet'  pizza instead.  We also ordered a side salad and potato soup.

    Quick run down:
    - Salad was fresh and tasty.
    - Soup was too salty.
    - Pizza was OK; the ingredients are fresh but lacks flavoring. Its just...missing some spice or something.

I don't care about services when I go to restaurants, but if you do, I will say the staffs are friendly and services are quick and prompt. The food come out at a pretty good pace (~15 minutes for the pizza)
It took about 15 minutes and honestly, there is nothing special about it.

    Bottom line:
Good for a quick lunch in the neighborhood but don't bring your date here or expect the food to blow your mind.

I was surprised on a Friday night the restaurant was not crowded. The waitress we had was super attentive with lots of quick refills extra bread. Great quality food and a quiet atmosphere. Our server also waited for us to stop conversation before asking if everything was OK. Even though he was very attentive he left us alone for the most part, very refreshing. The Potato and chicken pizza was good. I ordered the tortellini and it was good as well. Everything here was great. I will be back again!

We go to Pizza Capri for pizza at least once a month.

It is DELICIOUS!  Trust me on this: we drive down from Rogers Park just to go there for their pizza.  We wouldn't make the trip if it wasn't worth it.

The wait staff and bus staff is extremely friendly!  In fact, they know us from all of our time there.

They are rarely busy, so the dining room is a great place to sit back and have a relaxing dinner.  Even after a Cubs game they'll have open tables so you can enjoy your dinner.

If I had to choose between Leona's (next door) and Pizza Capri, Pizza Capri would win every time.  (And, they do.  I haven't been to Leona's in 3 years... Ever since I tried Pizza Capri.)

Also, they have a full menu of other dishes -- pasta, soups, meat, etc.  I've tried at least 6 other entrees and they've all been delicious.

Anyway... Go there for dinner tonight and I'm positive you'll be delighted by the food, atmosphere and price!

The breakdown on Pizza Capri is this.
Five stars for the great service
Four and a half Stars for the Buffalo Chicken
Two and a half stars for the Pizza.

I guess that growing up in Chicago has turned me into a bit of a Pizza snob. I really need something unique to impress me when it comes to the Za. The crust was the best part of the Pizza. It had a buttery taste to it that I really enjoyed. Other than the crust Pizza Capri offers the same thing that 80% of the pizza joints in Chicago do. I'm still waiting for a Chicago Pizza joint to WOW me.
It was really hard to nail down what kind of vibe the place has. Our visit was on a Friday night and we were literally the only people in the place. Our server did a great job keeping our wine glasses full, but we were the only people there, what else did he have to do?
The bottom line is that I enjoyed my visit to Pizza Carpi. It was a pleasant experience with decent food and good service. But with so many great eateries in Chicago, I doubt if I will go back. The search for the perfect Pizza continues.

I decided order delivery from these guys yesterday.  I ordered the taco pizza, which was good, but not great.  It had onions, green peppers, beans, black olives, but it just wasn't very spicy which is what I was hoping for.  We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Strips, which were decent, but again not the spiciness I was looking for.  Bruschetta was the standout of the bunch.  It was very flavorful and came with enough bread to go around.  The biggest minus I have for this place is they are way too expensive.  Those 3 things plus a veggie wrap (which didn't come with fries) was over 50 dollars.  That's just unreal.   I might go back, but the price of the food might keep me away.

For what it is, it's not too bad.  They certainly can whip up a take-out order pretty fast.  I had the rigatoni bolognese and it was pretty flavorful.  Nothing to smack you in the face with the wow, but all in all it was decent.  The staff seemed friendly enough as well.  Since it's close enough to walk to from my work I'd probably order from them again at least for take out, but I'm not sure I'd make it a sit down destination.

Adequate. My mixed baby green salad was good, the dressing was a bit sweet, though. My glass of red wine was on the vinegary side. I thought it was pretty expensive for the quality of the food.

I really like Pizza Capri when I am in the mood for some crispy thin crust pizza.  They offer some tasty specialty pizzas on the menu and delicious salads as well.  The space is very accommodating for a larger group.  I went here with a bunch of my friends for my birthday and we shared a great dinner along with wine and nobody had to break the bank!  The service is always very good...and the decor is warm and inviting.

My friend and I ordered from Pizza Capri last night. I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the delivery. They told us our food would be about a 45 minute wait but it was there in about 20 minutes. I got the turkey wrap with guac. It was pretty good. My friend had one of the salads and was also impressed.
