Hooray for Take Out!

Take Out is so underrated in this city. There are so many public places to be and enjoy the same great food. Let's reduce the crowds at these gems and find a new place to rave about the deliciousness of our meals yes?

Pizza & Pita (my first Yelp Mobile find) thank you so much for feeding this hungry girl with your wonderful array of food. I was tempted to order my usual Eggplant Parm Hero but I went out on a limb and swooped up a Veggie Burger Deluxe instead. Veggie Burger in a Pita is novel to me. The idea never crossed my mind but what a great idea! You just split both in half and it fits perfectly. Slather with a little hummus. Stuff with insalate and you've got yourself an affordable and quite tasty meal on FDR Drive while you wait for the fireworks to start on July 4th.

I also sampled my roommate's cheese calzone and thought to myself that my tummy could use an expansion to house all the good food I just consumed.

It's hot in here. It's crowded in here. The staff is delightful. A little disorganized though. We nearly ended up with two orders of garlic knots and as soon as I had the first bite I regretted not taking the 2nd order that had been prepared for us by mistake. I love garlic. I love carbs. Put the two together and you've got one happy yelper.

I'd kiss the guy behind the counter if he weren't so darn ugly.  That's how good this pizza is.  For $16 bucks you can eat the best pizza in New York and smile for days afterwards.  I ordered the extra large intending to make last a weekend (good hangover food), and damn if I didn't eat it all in a night (praise whatever diety you like for Tums).  One warning, do not go into their bathroom.  The lack of soap and towels reminds you that the sign "Employees Must Wash Hands" is kinda pointless.

i heard this place had whole wheat pizza crust with low-fat cheese - so i walked 10 blocks to get a slice and it was so worth it.  Its nothing fancy..just your typical pizza shop that's on every  block in the city...but the whole wheat crust with low fat cheese really is quite good!  I ended up getting 2 slices - one with spinach and peppers and the other with broccoli and mushrooms..i liked the spinach a bit more..and was certainly full after the 1..but for the sake of the review...i over-indulged and had both slices :p

anyways, there's no pool of oil on this pizza..it felt like i was eating healthy ..which i guess i was  - as healthy as you can eat pizza-wise anyways.

i walked a total of a mile to get this pizza...  and i'm going to the gym now to go running...although its healthy pizza so i guess for most people going to the gym right after isn't necessary..but i digress..

if you live in the area - gooo!  although, i'm sure many pizza places in ny do the whole wheat crust thing..so if you live far..this isn't worth the hike over.

yum.

This place has the best chicken parm in nyc (as far as i know), their onion rings are always crispy, the fried chicken cutlet on a pita w/ american cheese and mayo is excellent as well. The pizza is always good, and the wings are very good as well. The best part is the value, the food is very cheap especially for NYC.

so cheap!  so delicious!  so convenient (for me)!

my usual order:
slice of cheese - $2
4 really big garlic knots - $1
cup of homemade marinara sauce - $0.25
(seems like "[something something]...priceless" should follow this, but that's so overused!)

the slices are large, fresh, with a doughy yet crispy crust.  the knots are buttery, garlicky, and chewy.

i always get my pizza to go.  as far as i know, they're always open so it's great to satisfy your early AM drunken cravings for cheese and carbs.
