Poor Pixie Woods is long over due for a review :)
I took my two little one's there on Friday about 3:30 just in case it was bad I would not have to stay long :) Park closes at 5:00 and when they save 5 they mean it The girls walked around the park saying gates close at 5 and then you can't get out "What" so my response to the lady was wow that might be cool being stuck in pixie woods all night but then I remembered what part of town I was in and hurried the kids along.
I have to say my 2 and 9 yr old had the best time, for those of you that have not been it's like a park with a bunch of little sections to play in so if one play area get's busy you just move to the next there's lots of stuff to climb in and on. There is also a little water sections that spray's water that had about 7 kids playing there website said it stop's spraying the water at 4:00 but it went all the way until 4:55.
It was cool to ride the Merry Go round we were the only one's on so they lady left us on way to long until someone else came to ride we were a little dizzy when we go off :)
They do still have the swampy green water so we choose not to do the boat ride... They also have a little snack bar where the kids can get Snow cones ($3.00) and they pile up Ice so high in a cup it almost falls over!
Kinda sad we went so late it was really a lot of fun for the kids...
Tip:
They are closed on Mon,Tue,Wed...

We have been to Pixie Woods more times than I can count.

In fact, we just went there the other day (Monday). I was so excited! I got the kids in their suits, we stopped and got lunch on the way. Come on kids! Get in the van! Woo hooo!

oh....maybe I should've called ahead of time. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Curses!

We will be back my little pixie friends, don't you worry. I cant wait to show my toddler her first pixie woods experience!

Please keep your hands and legs inside the van while traveling through the ghetto to get to Pixie Woods. In fact, please duck!

If you havent been, I highly recommend it!

Being that we live in a place that's a little cut-throat (in more ways than the idiomatic way), i'm glad stockton has made dis lil piece of ghetto heaven stay.

My favorite rides are the train ride and the boat ride...which I think are the only two rides.  So i guess I like all the rides here...

And, if you have a great imagination, a lot of stuff to get A.D.H.D'd here w/ your kids on.

It doesn't cost a lot, and for a kid, it'll seem like such a big, fantasmic place.

TIP: (1) Encourage passengers riding enroute to Pixie Woods to duck, as it is in a bad neighborhood.  (2) Handicap/developmentally disabled kids get in free.  Yaay!

On their boat ride you'll notice that the water is a scary shade of green.  It's a great place to take the kids to cool off. Make sure they wear something they can get wet in because they have a small water park.

The movie, "This is Spinal Tap" was filmed here. It's the part where the band hits rock bottom and they only venue they had was the puppet theatre where the opening act was a puppet show. Pretty damn funny, you should watch it. It was filmed in the early 80s.

So, I read in the papers that they have remedied the green algae that has been consuming the lake here. I'm really glad that they did that, and I'm impressed by how they did it. They used earth friendly methods, and not  poisonous chemicals. They were thoughtful of the environment and the children that come to visit their park. So all of that algae has disappeared within a week, and now the water is clear. It will stay that way for a long time. More reasons why I support this place!

I'm not a kid anymore but I do appreciate it as a botanical garden and the wildlife preserve thats right look around you next time you're there and you'll see what I mean. BTW the choo choo train is cool.
