How do you make a delicious salad?

ADD FILET MIGNON!!!

A friend of mine had a $25 gift certificate, so we came here for dinner and ordered the filet mignon salad, clam chowder pizza, short rib pappardelle, and sangria.

The clam chowder pizza and short rib pappardelle were both seasonal items and somewhat forgettable... Especially the clam chowder pizza, which was dry and lacked flavor. The sangria was pretty good, but also nothing to boast about.

The highlight of the meal was, oddly enough, the salad. Honestly, I'd come back to Pitfire Pizza just for the salad... Bleu cheese crumbles, walnuts, and beef are a surefire combination!

FOOD:
1.) Pepperoni Pizza = Really really thin, which is different from anything I've ever had. But the chese looked super melted mm... and I guess coz it's thin, there were parts with that extra crispy almost burnt taste :p
2.) House Salad = Pretty basic, normal

SERVICE:
Order at counter, and they'll bring it to you

ATMOSPHERE:
I liked the way it was designed inside, kind of a casual sophisticated modern feel.

one of the great things about serving jury duty in downtown is that you can try the new up-coming spots in the area...  this pitfire pizza location is just a few blocks away from the criminal courthouse.

i was debating over pizza.. but the linguine with clams and bacon caught me...  mmm.  decisions decisions... BACON on my go-to linguine and clams!  ok, had to try it.  it turned out really well.  the pasta was cooked well, although i prefer it a tad al dente.  i was very pleaesd with the dish.  there were tons of chopped clams including very large full-size clams.  the proportion was perfect.  i didn't need to take any home or waste any.  only... it was a few hours later that i realized:  "where the ___ was the bacon??!!"  there was no bacon on it, at least visibly.  (see picture.  do YOU see any?)

(funny bro... as i'm writing this review i just noticed that yours is posted to my right LOL.  boy you're a toughie - 1 star!  sorry about your bad experience!)

well, although i was very happy with my pasta at the time (before i realized the bacon was missing.. invisible... or had evaporated?), i must say that i LOVE their giant cookies!!  listen - i'm a very TOUGH cookie critic.  i was sitting outside on this very sunny, warm day and my cookie was layin in the sun.  by the time i got to it, it were as if it had come right out of the oven.  OMG  sooooo YUMMM!  the great thing about this Pitfire is that it's next to Groundworks Coffee Co.  the perfect progression after italian food and to accompany the cOOkie!

I've read some reviews on Pitfire and have walked by a million times really curious about the food there.  So, I had dinner there a few days ago.  Really, I wish I hadn't.  I ordered a sausage pizza.  If  you like cardboard with cheese, try this place.  My jaw hurt from chewing so much.  I wasn't crusty all all and no barely any sauce.  Not to mention, I was still freekin hungry and it wasn't worth the price.  I went down to Koraku later on to eat again after hanging out at the Association.

The pizza was flavorful and good, but not the best i've ever had - I had the Burrata one.

The lamb ragu pasta was a miss for me...wasn't a fan of the noodles - a little too chewy and the flavors were only okay.  The spaghetti and meatballs were decent.

Not a great spot, but not a bad spot.  It's right in the middle.

I like the Pizzas here, the crust is "artesian" style, whatever that is. It's got a thin bottom with a nice chewy/crunchy crust, made in their wood-burning-rock-slab oven thingy. They don't slop a whole metric ton of cheese on it, which is good for an "avoiding dairy vegetarian" like myself. The thin crust does tend to dry out in the box overnight, so if there's any left over, you should wrap it well or face a rock-hard crouton the next day.

Pitfire phases their pizzas in and out over time, which on the one hand keeps things interesting, but on the other, well, they tend to lose some great pizzas like The Pacifica, which had goat cheese, roasted garlic, cured tomatoes and pine nuts. I used to like to build my own, because the crust is an excellent base for my crazy pizza ideas, but they have slimmed down the ingredient list recently... allowing people to build pizzas and then giving them less ingredients sucks!

I like the Field Mushroom pizza but it's a little heavy on the dairy with Fontina and Crème Fraîche, I actually used to like the earlier 'Wild Mushroom' pizza better which had less cheese and some really yummy caramelized onions (that seem to have ended up on the delicious Burrata Pie.) The White Pie is way heavy on the dairy with a sort of Alfredo cream sauce as a base, ricotta, Mozzarella, AND parmesan; without the fresh basil and pickled peppers it would be pretty bland, and whenever I order it I always add kalamata olives or roasted tomato for a little extra flavor.

My carnivore BF really loves the Folded Garlic Chicken pizza. He occasionally gets the Fennel Sausage pizza, but there was a 2-month-or-so period where the folded chix pizza was off the menu... everyone else who loves it too must have also complained as loudly as he did, because it's back on there now. Honestly, we have both avoided the pasta dishes after eating at Pitfire in person and getting baked pasta that was frozen in the middle. I think I was ecstatic with the Mac & Cheese when they had it, but it's gone now too.

I miss the old Mediterranean Salad, which was a sort of greek salad as you might imagine. But I do love the new Hand Chopped Vegetable Salad, the fresh-cut Grilled Corn is a nice touch, it also features Radicchio, Cannellini and Garbanzo beans and Cherry Tomatoes, and a not-too-sweet Balsamic Vinaigrette, I could eat a whole salad myself. The Watermelon Lemonade is so amazing- when you get a fresh batch (I've had a few watery glasses that were pretty gross.) I was not at all impressed with the Auntie Ems cupcakes, I ordered one with a delivery and maybe they are better when they are fresh, but it was the driest, most cardboardy cupcake I've ever eaten, the icing was an incredible, rich ganache-like chocolate, though, I ended up licking it off of the pumice-stone-like cake and the inside of the cardboard box it came in.

We actually order from Pitfire Pizza way, way too much, but living downtown you are basically held hostage by 3 restaurants that offer edible food for delivery after 6PM. I'd suggest sticking with the pizza, which you can order in a 'personal' size or a 15-inch size, and a fresh salad.

Perhaps one of the best pizza crusts I have found anywhere.  It was my first visit and we stopped by here for a light dinner before an event across the street.  We shared the Big Sur pizza and I later tried the popular Watermelon Lemonade.  I loved the pizza!  It was unusual- fat grilled Gulf shrimp, lemon zest, crushed tomatoes, roasted garlic, and red chili- and delicious.  The crust was delightful, because it was slightly charred and crisp on the outside but had a fantastic chewy texture and great flavor inside.  I only wish the whole pizza had been a little bigger.  The watermelon lemonade was very cool and refreshing, and just lightly sweet, with plenty of pureed watermelon in it.  The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the place had a comfortable, casual vibe.  I'm glad there is a new location in Westwood so I can visit again without a drive downtown.  So I agree- I trust their crust!

'THE CRUST YOU CAN TRUST'

With a slogan like that,
I mean you can talk the talk, you better walk the walk ...

So, I love pies. It's not difficult to enjoy pizza but to find a decent pizza; up to par and the masses standards -well that my friend is somewhat of a challenge. Okay so I really enjoyed this place. (I mean I never stepped foot inside and I didn't try anything but the pizza itself but I won't front- I was impressed and was left completely stuffed beggin for a nap.)

The pizza's had that great 'YEAH, I'M FRESH' taste. From the ingredients that they claim are often locally grown and organic you can taste the difference. (I actually double checked before writing this review because I had no idea about their claim on the toppings but I could actually taste the difference.) I had a large selection of slices ranging from the veggies to different meats and I tried a little of everything.

FINE! WHO ARE YOU MY PERSONAL TRAINER?? GEEZ OKAY, I HAD LIKE 5 SLICES! (But I do not regret a single bite!)

These pies have a slow 2 day rise process and are fired on the floor of a ceramic oven. The taste proves this. But the sauce and veggies and cheese are perfect with this raved about crust.

I personally tried the
Margherita (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, virgin olive oil and torn basil), Pitfire Fennel Sausage (crushed tomato, fontina, mozzarella, red onion) and I had BBQ Chicken, Mushroom Veggie & Sausage Spread combo slice too. (Sorry I can't remember the word for word of all the toppings and not all the creations are listed in detail on the website) But I do recall each slice being mouthwatering. And you can make your own toppings combo.

I actually would love to try the other items on the menu because they sound really heavenly.

reasons for not giving 5 stars
(I was catering for a larger than normal office meeting)
the pizza's aren't the biggest in size so I had to order a larger quantity and by doing so they are a little pricier than some places but it's a kinda upscale gourmet type of place. Last but not least the delivery was late and I got yelled at by my boss via- email and in person about following direction and trusting her knowledgable hints. Being 10 min late didn't seem like a crime to me- it was a simple in house office thing and the meeting didn't start on time because the pizza was late.

(To this day every-time I order catering for lunch my boss now demands that food be here at 11:30AM even though the lunch meetings don't start till noon. I no longer am able to order pizza for the office because they were late and because I refuse to stamp my name on serving cold pizza (which FYI- I totally love the next day from the ice box)
PIT FIRE is now a simple facade and figment of my imagination because I can not order it again and now I am depressed that I no longer can continue to pay these folks with my company credit card and enjoy this splendid marina to crust goodness.)

Had their "Hand Chopped Salad" with grilled chicken.  It was quite good.  Greens, chickpeas, white beans, cheese, peperoncinis, corn, tomato, etc.  Also had a Jones cream soda.  Always nice when folks have some soda options made with sugar instead of HFCS.  All-in-all a nice, everyday lunch place.  The line to order was a bit slow but not intolerable.  Looking forward to trying a pizza on a future visit.

Like they say... the Nissan 300Z is the poor man's Porsche (no offense).  Well, I consider Pitfire pizza the poor man's Pizzeria Mozza.

Yes, there are many, many things one must be cognizant of and take into consideration when making such comparisons.... but you know what? Lighten up.

You're not dropping $$$ on some ridiculously fine tuned piece of machinery.  It's pizza.  And a decent sized, made to order, with fresh & quality ingredients, at a reasonable price (about $10) one at that.  What is there to complain?

The best is their happy hour special - half price pizza with the purchase of any beverage.  So for about $10 a person we got delicious gourmet pizza and a mug of bud light.  Where's the pen?  I'm sold!

I like the food.  I really do.  But the service here is terrible.

Dining in isn't so bad, but the delivery NEVER works out.  First they leave you on hold, then they're rude while your order and act like it's a sin to use a credit card. But then comes the waiting game.

20 minutes... damn I'm hungry
30 minutes... Oo!  Almost here.
40 minutes... 5 minutes late, no big deal.
55 minutes... wtf?
65 minutes... did they forget me?  call. someone "just left."
90 minutes... FINALLY GETS HERE. Guy speaks no English. No explanation for the delay. Food tastes frozen.

The best was when I waited on hold for almost 10 minutes (thank god for speakerphone), someone picked up only to say that they weren't delivering. Arrrrrrrrghhh.

The food is good, but I'm so pissed at them I can't bring myself to dine in.

This place is just OK. I probably won't go back for pizza, it was less than filling and pricey for what you're getting. We also happened to order the steak salad to split which was delicious, but between salad and pizza, salad was the main dish. That just doesn't seem right. I think we spent near $30 and it was good, but I just didn't really feel that the value was there.

I will opt for another pizza place in downtown in the future, maybe
Rocket Pizza, sorry!

** Oh and they couldn't FIND us. The place isn't that big, they asked everyone else if the food was theirs before they got to us. Apparently, their number system is less than accurate.

What's that you say? Arugula, burrata cheese, caramalized onions and a hazelnut pesto drizzle -- on a pizza???

Sold. Sold. And more sold.

Just absolute perfection.

Now, this isn't your nonna's pizza place -- the pizza isn't covered in red sauce and mounds of cheese (at least this particular pizza). You also won't find red checkered tablecloths -- instead you'll find a chic, bright, open space.

Now, back to the "Burrata Pie."

SUPER fresh ingredients, the arugula was crisp, the pesto was amazing, not a ton of cheese (for you cheese lovers, this may not be the pizza for you) but the right amount of cheese to get the flavor, the tomato sauce tasted super fresh...

and the hazelnut pesto?? hiiiii -- FANTASTIC.

The crust is thin and crispy on the bottom, but with a thicker crust on the edges... which was nice because I wasn't chewing a ton of bread with all those great ingredients... and then if I wanted more "bread" I could just eat the edge of the pizza.

My mouth is seriously watering just thinking about it. LOOVE.

Burrata, hazelnut and arugula pizza? Sold.

This place is great. Coming from NYC I have really high standards for pizza. This is one of the two places that I would regularly get a pie from. They have great topping selections and the dough/crust is actually pretty good.

We once got a Family Meal or whatever it's called with a few pizzas, pasta, salad, etc. The pasta could use a little work but overall everything was good and there weren't any leftovers so I guess that speaks for itself.

The restaurant is pretty casual and pleasant. I kind of want some right now.

Well it was a good run Pitfire, but alas the time has come and tonight I had my last meal with you.

Since moving downtown you have been my go to. Super laid back atmosphere, decent food and okay pizza for LA.

Your service has always been questionable at best but was over looked. Things were always over charged early on but you worked that out.

Over 15 months of patronage though you just could not master the task of bringing out the bread sticks first. I've asked almost every time for the last two-dozen visits but they always come with the meal. The person bringing the food to the table rarely apologized but whatever.

Then you changed the menu and jacked the prices up a little here and there. If I remember correctly one of the local papers quoted the owners/managers as saying they wanted to go more upscale. Upscale? You are a pizza place.

You took away some favorite pastas and also a few more dollars out of my pocket.

Then you took away the wildly popular half-price off pizza during happy hour. It's really the only way I could justify eating with you guys because the size and quality of the pizza is not worth $11.

The pasta portions have been getting smaller and smaller.

And don't get me started on having pasta delivered and the fact you take the meal and toss it in a cardboard box without any sort of lining or wax paper.

Lately the pizza and bread sticks have become more and more burnt which hasn't been a great quality for a place hanging their hat on the crust they offer.

Then came tonight - one pasta order, one pizza and bread sticks to come out early. Throw in two sodas and the $30 tab is still a little steep. After waiting for 15 minutes the pasta came out first. When we asked why the breadsticks were not coming out first the server looked at us and didn't say a word. We politely asked if the rest of the food was coming right now because if so then we are talking just a regular old screw up on your part. The server walked away. Five minutes pasted and my wife took her pasta back up to the counter so it could go under the heat lamps. We watched as it sat on the counter, nowhere near the lamps for the next 5 minutes. Then came all the food at once.

The crust on the pizza was black - burnt to a crisp. The bread sticks were also pretty firm and not soft. When I asked about the burnt pizza I was told that's how it's cooked. "Really?" I asked, "Burnt is normal?". The manager told me they have new dough and a new way of cooking things and this is how an 'artesian' pizza should be cooked. I politely disagreed saying it was too bad it was burnt because it's not really edible.

No sorry. No we can make you another. No nothing.

So I guess that's it. I know there's better pizza than this downtown and I'll gladly give them my money for something I can at least enjoy.

And not to beat a dead horse but why does the music come on randomly ever 20 minutes for a few songs and then disappears for a while?

But anyway ...

NO BUENO!
My husband and I ordered a white pizza and chicken soup for delivery.
Upon the arrival of our pizza, it was cold and the soup was lackluster. I have never had a more bland soup. OH' wait I forgot to mention, I was sent Minestrone instead of vegetable??
This was our first and last attempt to try an overpriced pizza from Pitfire Pizza.

not the greatest pizza ever, but it was still good and enjoyable. I would not mind coming back here again to try other pizza (happy hour).

they have happy hr M-F from 4-7pm... it's when you purchase a reg. price beverage, you get your pizza for 1/2 off.

My friend and i were at The Edison for their happy hour...feeling very hungry we decided to go find the nearest place to eat. I remember one of the yelpers mentioned about happy hour at Pitfire, so we walked out from The Edison and walked here.. I ordered the Greens, Eggs, and Prosciutto....it was okay. I wanted something different, i never had eggs on my pizza before and prosciutto sounded good..so got that. Though after a few bites of the pizza i wished i had ordered the Margherita i still enjoyed the uniqueness of it. I love the crust! nicely burnt and crunchy on the outside and soft inside.

My friend got the Big Sur... i think his pizza tasted better than mine. His pizza consisted tomato, basil, and shrimp. quite yummy, in my opinion.

if it wasn't for the happy hr price, i think this place is quite expensive for an individual size pizza. They're at least $9 for each pizza.

I am a little surprised to see some bad reviews for Pitfire. I have only ever had a great experience here. I personally love the pizza, especially the gourmet veggie, and I realllly like the crust. They have this spicy oil to dip the leftover crust in, and it is oh so good.
We did have the "natural sausage" pizza once and it was a little weird tasting, but over all, I'm a fan.
My only two complaints are: don't go for the delivery. It takes a million years. And..there is like the worst parking situation ever.
Despite this, I am a regular.

4 stars - local, tasty, downtown

A little on the pricey side of moderate but the atmosphere and tasty food is worth it all.

There is easy bike parking around and they offer great service. The menu is easy to navigate but there are a lot of choices! Although my date was not as impressed as I was I think her taste was more concerned with with budget than it was pure indulgence.

The double height ceiling really offers a relief to the cramped feeling urban jungle outside and the space does feel very relaxing.  There is a certain complexity to the taste of the food which is appealing although there are some things left to be desired.

Definitely affordable for a nice night out on a professional's salary. A nice escape from some of the other places around downtown. Very local, last i heard the owner lives down the street - that's how i found out about pitfire pizza.

good luck finding parking with that big unwieldy car LMFAO its downtown!

this place has got to be crowded during lunch, right?

I have been eating here for over a year but I have never been inside yet.  I always order for delivery since LA parking is no bueno.  I order about twice a month.

Their pizza, pasta, salad, and desserts are great.  Paninis are cool too but I always order for two.

Steak salad, tuna nicoise salad are my Favs

They have some really weird pizzas.  I recently tried the Greens, egg and ham pizza, and WOW!

Desserts are great as well!

The closest thing I've had to a Margherita pizza in the US was at Pitfire.
It's what I always order! (If anyone knows a better one, let me know!)  Their warm bacon-spinach salad is also very good.

If you come from 4-7P on weekdays, it's happy hour and certain pizzas are half off.  That's like $5 a pizza, which isn't too shabby, if you ask me.

They've got nice staff, outdoor seating, and a few flatscreens.  Upstairs is a more private and quiet dining area.  They also have a long table down the center of their downstairs dining room, for community eating, which I thought was really nice.

Parking: if you come after 6PM, you can park across the street for free :)

The happy hour doesn't involve alcohol, which is no happy hour at all.

But the pizza... Oh sweet Jesus! Best pizza I've ever tasted. I'm not the "crust" person by any means but theirs was delish! The right combination of crunchy and soft. I got the artichoke pizza with pesto sauce in place of marinara. The ricotta cheese was heavenly and the nicoise provided a good kick.  My friends had the burrata and folded chicken pizza. Awesome and okay, respectively.

My friend and I are pretty split on this place because she was totally sold on the arugla and fresh veggies, I was too but I expect a little something more from a thin crust pizza "boutique-type" pizza joint which place tries to be given its location and decor.  We went in at like 1pm or so and it was funny given the price ($10/person) the wide variety of clients that it attracts, from the business suits, to your collar shirt assistants to construction workers that day.

Okay, this place has super fresh toppings on their pizza which is a veggie lovers dream.  The sauce and the cheese were in harmonizing portions but for me the missing star was from the crust.  The crust on a pizza this thin and with this little sauce should almost be cracking thin, and have a taste to it, the crust here was just kind of soft and unimpressive.  Almost like the crust's sole purpose is to hold the sauce, the cheese and the oh-so yummy fresh toppings.

OK. Great food but quit possibly the WORST management and staff EVER.

Here is my bone to pick. First, a few years ago, I went to have lunch at Pittfire. The woman at the counter, no longer an employee who was a delivery person, commented on my jewelry.

blond dumbo, "Do you worship the devil?"

me, "um" *laughs* "no I don't believe in that."

blond dumbo, HISSES jumps over the counter and puts the her fingers in the sign of a cross.

me, *looks uncomfortable and walks away*

Owner Paul H. is around and i know him because he rented from our company. A loft. And so I retell the story.

Paul, "So... do you worship the devil?"

I'm thinking at this point I've entered the f*cking twilight zone. I say, "no that ridiculous."

Paul *laughing* walks away.

Now... we order MAYBE once a month from pittfire. it's been shoddy, a lot of the time. I won't go into all of the many, many, numerously wrong orders we have received but tonight took the cake. We ordered to dishes and a salad. Order show's up, 1/2 the order is there.

I call Pittfire and they offer me -get this- the other missing half of my order at 10% off. Um... we PAID for our order already. I try to explain this but the manager -after being put on hold two separate times for 5 minutes at least- but he only will offer me 10% off.

WTF???

Pittfire BLOWS.

I refuse to order from them ever again. New management is in order, new ownership is essentially necessary.

Scott

I had the margherita pie ($9.50), which was decent but quite small. It's cut into fourths, but it's the equivalent of about two large slices at a standard by-the-slice place. The crust was really invasive and seemed disproportionately large compared to the rest of the pizza. The pasta bolognese ($9.95) was okay but really lacking in quantity. For the prices you pay here relative to the food actually received, I would suggest seeking someplace a bit more substantive. Street parking on weekdays is free after 6pm, but I didn't drive so I can't let that influence my impression of the place.

wow... total disappointment.

never going there again.

the salad seemed like it was "made yesterday" and the pizza was just okay- and barely large enough to split between two people.

oh well.

You are in downtown Los Angeles.  It's nighttime.  And you want a pizza.  What are you gonna do?  It's a scary place with scary food.  Most of the time you would be S.O.L. unless you were willing to settle for subpar chains, amateur stand-alones or faux pizza [CPK].

But downtown is thawing from its grime, crime & slime.  Pitfire shines through the murkiness like a young seedling pushing through soil on the first day of spring.  There is good pizza.  Beer.  A well lit facility that is clean.  It's fun.  It takes http://restaurant.com certificates.

When I'm doing my downtown pub crawl, this is our meeting place.  We get an early start with good food and beer. Once well fed, we can absorb that much more in libations.

The pizza was yummy! Delivered fresh, hot and tasty. This is my preference (in order); Margherita, Burrata, Veggie Delux, and Garlic Chicken. Their cupcakes were delicious! Who knew cupcakes tasted great after 6 slices of pizza?? I really thank the baking gods for keep the lemon mild in the lemon cupcake. I usually skip the lemony baked goods in fear of sugary sour lemon overdose.

The Mushroom pizza and the Red Velvet cupcake will be my next victims at Pitfire. Speaking of pits, their service. I was put on hold 3 times and heard them arguing with each other over the phone, which is why I only gave them 3-stars.

3 strikes and you're out.  Pitfire Pizza has been officially 86ed.

I really wanted to like this place, truly I did.  Being I live in the very same building in which PP is located, I was excited to give them a try.

The first night we moved in we didn't have any groceries and were tired from unpacking so we decided to give PP a try.  I got the grilled steak salad which was average at best.  The portion was pretty pinner and didn't live up to the $10 price tag.  I was disappointed but figured maybe I should have gone for the pizza rather then the salad and decided I'd give them another try.

A week later, we decided to try them again after a night out bar hopping.  This time I got the cheese pizza and the gf got the chicken fold over.  My pizza was pretty blaaahh.  The cheese was tough and flavorless and the sauce was obsolete.  The gf didn't care much for her pizza either and that right there says a lot.  Normally when she's drunk you could cover a boot with axle grease and she'd devour it like Kirsty Ally falling off the Jenny Craig wagon, but not this time. After only eating a couple slices, it was banished to the refrigerator to never be reheated again.

Out of desperation and being on the verge of starvation, and against my better judgment, I gave PP one final chance.  This time I got the Turkey meatball on the advice of the girl working the counter. Big mistake.  The pasta was soggy and the sauce tasted like something from a Chef Boyardee can.  The meatball itself was pretty good, but other than that it was another big burn. I'd rather walk down to Corleones at the Grand Central Market and get a much better slice for $2.50.

I'll never go back to PP again. Blaaaahhhhh

Slowly getting to the point of knowing the difference between good pizza and great pizza.  While Pitfire isn't great, it's definitely one of the better choices in this area and especially in Downtown.  The pies here are legitimate, well sized and creatively pieced together with market-fresh ingredients.  I had the Greens, Egg & Ham Pizza and shared a bit of the signature Burrata Pizza.

Both were excellent pies with flavorful (though definitely not anywhere near Mozza) crusts.  The runny yolks from the first pizza were delicious and the arugula filled Burrata pie was quite good.  The special pasta of short rib and pappardelle was poorly executed with undercooked pappardelle (not supposed really be al dente, in my opinion) and greasy meat.  Seasoning was there, but the rest of the dish was not well put together.

A HUGE bonus was the Auntie Ems cupcakes, which I would consider best in the city.  Trust me, I used to work next to Crumbs and Sprinkles and ate at least one of those once a week.  Thankfully, I used to LIVE next to Auntie Ems, so I had plenty of those as well.  The red velvet is heavenly, moist and not overly-sweet while the cream-cheese frosting was just about perfect.

I used a http://restaurant.com coupon here so I saved a bunch of money, but you can save even more by making it out to happy hour (4-7) for half-off pizzas.  Considering the pies run about $10 (non-happy hour prices...so do the math), you have absolutely no reason to eat at CPK ever again.

Here is my favorite delivery Pizza Service in Downtown. Pizza is delicious, not too heavy and has all the taste you want.

You can build your own pizza on website.

From there to an apartment near Staples Center it took them a little less than 1 hour to bring the pizza, which is OK by me. They deliver until 9pm.

The website needs improvement. It couldn't read through my credit card info and I had to repeat it on phone. Good thing that you can tip online too.

I've customized my own pizza and shared with a friend and enjoyed having the freedom to make what I want.

Friendly staff and good atmosphere too.

Shame they close at 10pm since I usually crave their pizza around 11pm or 12am

Putting an egg on a pizza is a bold move.

Really bold.

But, I think they pulled it off.  I had a specialty seasonal pizza here with asparagus, fried over-easy eggs, and some other veggies.  It was....interesting.  The only down side was you had to eat it fast and all of it!  'Cause who wants cold egg yolk OR reheated egg yolk??  *chirps*
Exactly.

Kudos to them on location.....right next to The Edison and across the street from Cal Trans and future police headquarters!  I have a feeling they're here to stay.

I have been to Pitfire Pizza many times, so I've been able to balance out my bad experiences with my good ones.

I really like their food here, but unfortunately they're a little inconsistent. The pizzas are baked in a large oven (either wood or gas fired). Because of this, sometimes the pizzas are over-baked and the crust/toppings are burnt. The salads often vary in size. Sometimes the portions are large enough to get full and sometimes you're left wondering where the other half of your salad went. They also forget ingredients in the salad and sometimes add ingredients that aren't supposed to be there. But when they do it right, the food is yummy.

If you don't have time to take a seat, I recommend picking up your order. I ordered delivery from them once before and was still wondering where my pizza was 2 hours into lunch time. This might have just been a bad day for their delivery person, but I haven't taken the chance since. Pickup orders are ready in ~20 minutes from the time you place your call.

They have outdoor, indoor, and upstairs seating. There are lots of flat screen TVs throughout the restaurant and lots of booth seats. If you go during the lunch hour, you might end up in the upstairs area (no booths) or outside since this is a popular lunch spot.

Having passed this place numerous times on my way to work at City Hall, I finally was able to sample their food with a boss and colleagues.

I'm generally skeptical about restaurants that aren't busy and are out of place, but  Pitfire is a nice place to dine if you want to escape your ho-hum brown bag lunch.  It's also an ideal destination for bringing a friend or a professional contact for some tasty food in the heart of downtown.

I didn't order their pizza, but my boss' pizza looked fresh and smelled delicious.  The chicken and wild mushroom pasta was great: chunks of chicken in a creamy sauce cover linguine with hints of mushrooms.  Filling, delicious, and not too heavy.  You can add some parm, crushed red pepper, or olive oil to spruce up your dish (tastes just as great sans condiments).

Prices are reasonable (it's generally around 10 bux per entree), and they offer a nice variety of wine and other spirits.  But oddly enough, they also serve very large cupcakes.  A co-worker raved about them, but I don't know if should gorge on one while I wait for a pizza.  Either way, I enjoyed my meal here.  You might too.

Since leaving New York City I haven't found a place in California that offered legitimate pizza--until I met some friends for dinner at Pitfire.  Fresh ingredients, crispy crust, and affordability (about $10 for a pizza) puts this place at the top of my list.

Their pizza's are sized for one, although you could easily split one and feel satisfied.  I couldn't decide between their signature Burratta pizza (amazing) and the Pumpkin (pretty good, kind of bland), so they let me have a pizza with half of each.  The service was good and the restaurant is roomy and decorated with an industrial-chic flair.

The only downside to this place is the location: anyplace downtown is so uber chic that I want to retch.  We need one in Orange County.

Ate here on business.  Thought it was a funny place for a meeting based on the name of it, but I got there and realized it was one of those "nice" pizza places.

Didn't order the pizza, but did get the salad.  I forgot which one, but it had roasted corn in it.  We ate and talked for an hour and I couldn't finish the thing.  That's a lotta salad.  Good dressing, too.  Yum!

I was mostly excited because of my drink-- watermelon lemonade!  Two times the refreshment and complimented the fresh salad nicely.  And even though I just got a salad and lemonade, I was stuffed by the end of the meeting.  I even had half of my salad to go!

My coworker ordered a calzone, which I feel like he could have split between the three of us.  That thing was huge.  Enjoyable, from what he said.

I'd go here again, but it's in downtown so the parking kind of deters me from doing so.  There was also construction all around the joint when I went, so have fun with that traffic.  Once all the congestion dies down, I'll be back to check out the claim-to-fame pizzas they have.
