I think people believe stuff tastes better when the price is right.  This is an affordable meal for Maui.  The food is ok but I won't remember it tomorrow.  I really wanted to love this place!  I live here and a good, inexpensive meal is hard to find!

I used to be a Director of Catering and am a Foodie so maybe my expectations are to high...who knows?  The hummus was average and I won't order it again.  Nothing special about it.  I had the Lamb Gyro which was ok.  The lamb seemed tough to me.  The Tzatziki is runny like water and is spelled incorrectly on the menu.  A pet peeve of mine.  I can't spell either but I don't have a restaurant!

I would say if you want a cheaper lunch or dinner and something that is ok but not great than check it out.  Why would you settle for ok though?  They were trying to sell the catch of the day, Ahi, like crazy!  Probably because if you don't order it today it won't be fresh tomorrow.   Plus there must have been a parrot somewhere on the deck outside cause it was squawking like crazy and people keep looking for it.

Oh, and the girl that took my order was rude.  The other girl was much better with customers but still trying to sell the stupid Ahi.

This place was so GOOD, we went here twice during our stay in Maui even though it was almost an hour away from our condo.

The first time I had the Kalua Pork Pita sandwich.  It comes with Imu style shredded Kalua pork, grilled onions, dill scallionaise, lettuce, and tomatoes.  It comes with Zikiki sauce and rice pilaf.  ($10.95).  I thoroughly enjoyed the pita sandwich.  It was tasty and the pork was juicy and tender.  It was sooo good I ate the whole sandwich and all the rice.  Yum!

The second time I ate the Mediterranean Chicken Pita.  For $8.95, it comes with marinated chicken breast, grilled onions & mushrooms topped with lettuce and tomatoes on a cheese pita.  (I had mine on a regular pita without the cheese).  This was just as good as the Kalua pork pita and might even be slightly better.  Again, I ate the whole sandwich and all the rice.  Excellent!

It's a mom and pop type operation.  You order at the counter, you find a seat, then they make your food and bring it to your table.  It's self-serve drinks, so no full service here.  The people who work there are polite and friendly.

YES, if you're near Pita Paradise, you must try it.

Mahalo!

Fantastic place. On par with fast food prices, with a taste to die for. The bar none best part about Pita Paradise for me, is the local catch. There's nothing like fish caught only hours earlier, by the owner, and not 50 miles away. The intimacy with your dish that Mama's Fishhouse offers, without the price. A tad bit tough to find, but make sure you do.

Very understated and looks kind of like a dive-just a little. Seriously, some of the best meals I have had on Maui have been right here this place. Very fresh, very yummy and very nicely priced. I love to sit outside and look up at the banana's on the trees. Great place to have lunch after shopping at the market next door. Make sure you get a shaved ice while you are shopping to keep hydrated.

This is really good Greek food. I studied abroad in Greece and have a really high expectations of Greek restaurants.

This place has a delicious Lamb Gyro, which was served with rice pilaf. I also ordered Pita with Tzatziki and it was served as an appetizer.  Their Tzatziki is very tasty and tastes like it is actually made with yogurt :)

It is more of a faster food type place.  You go up to the counter to order, find your own seat, and then your food is brought to you.  You are also expected to buss your own table.

Sorry guys, but I don't get it.  I came here based on the Yelp reviews and ordered a falafel ($8).  It was way below average.  Maybe because there aren't that many pita places in Hawaii?  Maybe because you guys are all stoned?  I guess I've had too many good falafel's in NYC and LA to consider this "fabulous" or "great".

If you're looking for delicious, inexpensive in Kihei, this is your go to place!  My husband and I spent a week in Maui for our honeymoon and even though we were staying near Lahaina, we drove down to Kihei one night just to try Pita Paradise.  We were not disappointed!  I had the fresh mahi mahi gyro (sounds wacky but absolutely yummy - think fish tacos with a Greek twist) and my husband enjoyed the kalua pork gyro.

You can't go wrong with this place - the food is great, atmosphere cozy, wait staff friendly, and the price is right!  Enjoy: )

Delicious fresh fish on a pita covered with salad. Very nice. Counter service with outdoor and indoor informal seating, plastic tablecloths, and a laid back atmosphere characterize this restaurant.

Here's the odd thing: their ad in one of the freebie tourist papers calls them a bistro and has vaguely misleading photos that make it look like more of a formal dining experience. I don't get it: it's doing a good job of being an informal lunch place. Why mislead anyone?

Expectations met!

First place we came back to after landing in Maui.  Fresh food.  The catch of the day was Mahi Mahi.

We wanted to stop by here again before leaving but it was a bit of a drive from Lahaina.  We were spoiled last year because we were close by.

Pita Paradise embodies everything I loved about my time in Maui: good food, good friends, and the joy of new experiences and delights. We went two weeks in Maui, and ate at PP no less than five times. It certainly helped that my sister worked there, but she was "off" almost the entire time that we visited, so going to PP was far from an obligation. It did help that we got special treatment from the chef and staff, but the value, quality, and freshness of the everyday menu was good enough to make me a fan.

Good luck on the move to Wailea, folks!

Although you can walk into this establishment wet and sandy from the beach, don't let that fool you.   PP serves some of the best Greek food  on Maui regardless of price....and having low prices is one of the more pleasant bonuses.  I was here 3 years ago have returned this year.....and the quality has not changed.  This place can compete with some really good Greek and Mediterranean restaurants in the Wash DC area.
1. Pita Pizza......white cheese (mozzarella and goat cheese I think, with tomatoes and basil leaves baked on a pita.    Very good taste and cooked well.  Only thing lacking is that I would prefer a crunchier crust and not soft/pliable like a regular pita bread.   4 stars
2.  Lamb Kebob:   I ordered mine rare and it came with a variety of grilled veggiles like zucchini, onions, and tomatoes, rice pilaf, and wedges of buttered and seasoned pita bread.    Fantastic.   The lamb came out more medium rare...which was still great....seasoned well and grilled with a little char and crisp on the outside.   Extremely good preparation.  4.5 stars
3.  Fish Pita Sandwich:   Grilled ahi...seared and rare in the middle with lettuce, tomatoes and spices inside a pita bread.   Excellent preparation and taste.   4.5 stars
4  Chicken teriyaki pita:   Surprisingly for a Greek restaurant....a very good rendition of an asian dish.   Not surprising with it being in Maui where I think every chef has to pass a tourist test in cooking something teriyaki..... 4 stars
5.  Pita bread....I just have to say something about it.....it was buttered and seasoned with a little garlic, toasted slightly and then cut into wedges.....I could have had a whole meal of this pita bread and their yogurt based dipping sauce....5 stars

OVERALL:   I am rating this a 5 star establishment because not only is the food as good as you can get anywhere on the island but the price is incredibly reasonable...$9-14 per entree/dinner in a very informal environment.....

Solid, delicious food, inexpensive and quick - what more could you ask for on a day at the beach? Hubby and I stumbled into this place our first night in Maui - jet lagged and hungry, we hoped for the best and got it. We tried the fish and lamb kabobs, even the pita bread and yogurt seemed extra delicious. Service is friendly and low-key, as it the atmosphere.

Disappointed that the The Kahlua pork pita was sold out.  The mahi mahi kebab I had was very fresh.  My kids had the chicken kebabs but 1 was undercooked.  They were happy to cook it more and provided a pita without spices for my 4 year old.  My husband was happy with his lamb gyro.

Very friendly staff.  The baklava ice cream cake was fantastic and fed my whole family of 4.

We saw Pita Paradise as we were leaving the Foodland parking lot and made a mental note to give them a try for lunch at sometime this trip.  This is a charming restaurant with a casual and laid back kind of vibe.  The outdoor seating was really nice, with the covered arbor and surrounding plants you really don't feel as though you are sitting in a parking lot.  It was hot when we went for lunch so we opted to eat inside since it's air conditioned.  We ordered the vegetarian gyro, chicken kebab plate, fish kebab, and greek salad.  Everything was extremely fresh and absolutely delicious, particularly the mahi mahi kebab.  Service here is informal and very friendly, the girl who was behind the counter answered all questions we had with a smile.  If you're looking for a tasty and inexpensive lunch this is such a great option.  We were told that they are going to be moving soon to a space in the Shops at Wailea, I hope the great prices and portion sizes remain the same when they move to their new digs.

This was one of my favorite lunch spots in Maui. It is very casual - order at the counter and they bring your food out when it is ready. They do have a beer and wine selection as well. You can sit outside on the deck or inside.

We sat outside since it was so nice out - we did notice that most people were sitting inside and we were not sure why..until we got our food. Be warned - there are flies if you are eating outside...Not the worst thing in the world but it does happen.

I am a huge fan of lamb so I got the Lamb Pita that comes with a side of rice. My mom ended up with a veggie pita and my dad got the lamb pita as well. I have to say all of us joined the "clean plate club" for this meal!

Very inexpensive for Maui and I will be back!

Thank you Pita Paradise! Some of the best food we had in Hawaii (yes, really), one of the few places with decent vegetarian offerings.

I had garden salad (basil dressing was surprisingly awesome), Mediterranean chicken and a lamb skewer, SO got falafel. Chicken was flavorful and nicely spiced, lamb was cooked perfectly.

Not fancy at all but very delicious. Like Sarah L. said, expect to seat yourself, order at counter and bus your own table. Staff is friendly and very helpful.

You can leave your bathing suit and self-moderation at home next trip to Maui. Just go to try the Kalua pork gyro at Pita Paradise. Forget the beaches, forget Hana and Haleakala, just bring yourself a big pair of sweats, oversized t-shirt, some flip flops, and your wallet. You can shower and sleep in Kalama Park across the street.

If you've had good Kalua pork, you know there's no better way to have pork. I thought so, too. You won't believe me until you try it, but PP's 'ziziki' sauce (tzatziki) with their Kalua gyro (don't scoff!) actually improves the flavor.

I was floored by PP's Kalua gyro (~$12) and their Fresh Catch entree with the mango/wine reduction (worth the $20). I hope Pita Paradise is able to stay afloat.

Gripes are kind of outrageous prices, seriously cranky waiters (the owner and his wife are great though) and annoying bar music from next door.

It's probably the best food involving pita I've ever had.  The Kahlua pork pita sandwich was amazing.  My wife said the gyro pita sandwich was better lamb than she would expect in a Greek restaurant.  And the baklava ice cream cake was great.  (It would be easy to make it too sweet, but it wasn't.)

Tip from my wife: Save the rice until after you've eaten the sandwich, and then put the rice in the drippings add leftover tzatziki.

Compared to most of the other places that we ended up at while in Maui, Pita Paradise really was a paradise.

Granted, there was at least a 5 minute wait at the counter (they were particularly apologetic and they honestly looked swamped back there), and probably another 30 minutes before we were actually served...but at least we were able to relax and sit outside on a warm night on the island and help ourselves to refills on mango iced tea, until the food arrived.

I ordered the fresh catch of the day, which was ahi tuna, in a pita.  I thought that it would be seared, but it was pretty much cooked most of the way through, but the meat was tender and flavorful, so I overlooked that.  I liberally doused my pita with the yogurt sauce, and devoured the whole thing in literally minutes.

I think that my friends were are generally enjoying their dinners too because I heard plenty of satisfied grunts while they were just as quickly inhaling their food (Mediterranean chicken pita, ahi tuna skewer, hummus and pita chips).

The major critique, from the impatient Californians that we are, was the slow service.  A minor critique was the tiny (teaspoon-size) serving of rice in our baskets.

This place was a savior for us in Kihei/Waliea..a total break from the overpriced restaurants that claim Wailea and the chains in Kihei. Great food, very very fresh ingredients and very casual. My  husband had the lamb gyro which he said was awesome bc many places these days mix the lamb with beef, but at PP it was all lamb...yum! I had the greek salad gyro and it was great too. So tasty & fresh! Definitely stop by when you are in the neighborhood.

I was really excited about this place because of the good reviews on yelp, but the food is whateverz.  The atmosphere is nice - cozy and comfortable, but the food is bland.  The Zikiki is not very yogurty and watery.  I had the small greek salad and it had 2 lonely olives and a feta cheese that didn't seem like real cheese. I also had the Zikiki appetizer which was cheesy bread with watery Zikiki sauce. My fiance had the mahi mahi gyro, which was bland. The total, including a diet snapple was approx $25.

Yummy!  I was born and raised on Maui, but have to admit that the casual restaurant scene disappoints.  I miss all the ethnic food available on the mainland.  However, PP is one of my favorite places to go for a quick lunch or dinner.  I love their sauteed veggie pita which is loaded with peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini plus some feta on top.  They also serve beer which is nice after a day at the beach.

We decided to try this out from all the other reviews and we were not disappointed.  We were a little skeptical at first because when we rolled up to the place around 6:30ish, no one was in there, we couldn't smell any food which isn't such a good sign.....but we ordered from there anyway.

Everything is really expensive in Maui, but the price was right and the food was delicious!  I ordered the kalua pig gyro and my husband ordered the the lamb gyro.  We scarfed it down so quickly!  Maybe we were just hungry....no but we liked it.

If you're looking for good, cheap food try it out.  Only suggestion.....maybe you should eat there cause we decided to be all romantic and thought it would be fun to eat it across the street at the park facing the ocean during the sunset....and there were tons of little bugs trying to eat with us (haha)....I guess you can eat in the car, but yeah, I'd stick to the restaurant.

Had lunch here after snorkeling at Molokini. We ordered the Mediterranean Chicken and their catch of the day (I don't remember what it was now). The fish seemed kind of rough.. to the point where we couldn't tell which one was the fish and which one was the chicken at first. However, both were very flavorful! The food is kind of pricey, but let's face it.. what isn't pricey on Maui?

I do not like going on a date where u have to order the food first at the counter and then they bring it to your table and no hard liquor it was the worst choice for a date to take me on...  But other then that the food was ok I got the pita and hummus it wasn't bad but I like my hummus a lot more garlic tasting..  I also got a skewer of Mahi Mahi it was not bad...  It is a very very casual spot in the triangle...  Ive been to many great Greek spots this is not the best but not the worst..
