I waited for this place to open.  It looked snappy and fresh.  Orange and green decor, kind of modern, almost an ode to an Asian fast food joint.  On their opening weekend I attempted to get food there twice.  Once at 3:00 pm one day and 6:00 pm the day after.  They were out of food both days.  Their hours stated that they were a late night joint so how could they run out of food at 3:00 pm?

Anyways... the following weekend I managed to get there when they had food to serve.  The place was packed.  I took it to mean that the food must be good.  Boy, was I mistaken.  I stood on line and put in my order for a falafel sandwich to go with a side of hummus.  They asked me if I wanted fries on my sandwich.  Ick no.  They didn't offer to put them on the side & I was so turned off by the thought of fries on my falafel pita that I didn't think to ask for them on the side.  I received my receipt and waited for a seat to open up while I waited.  Eventually I got a seat and watched as they took more orders.  I started to hear people coming up to the counter and complaining that they didn't have their order yet.  Silly me thought people were mistaking greek food for fast food because of the decor.  I also thought I'd be getting some nice fresh falafels due to the time I was waiting.

After 15 minutes, I started getting annoyed.  Falafel, even fresh simply doesn't take that long to fry up.  After 20 minutes I stood on the complaining line (yes, a complaining line had formed).  10 minutes later I finally asked at the counter what happened to my order.  The guy who took my complained made a motion like he was going to run back & find out.  Instead, 5 minutes later he came out with an order for a group seated at a table who came in 15 minutes after me.  I finally had enough.  I spotted an older looking man behind the counter and asked him to refund my order.  I was waiting over a 1/2 hour and nothing.  It was as if the word refund triggered the staff to action.  A girl behind the counter asked me what my order was.  When told she told me she called out my name a while ago.  I said bullshnikey since I was waiting at a table right by the counter and the place isn't that big to begin with.   She passed me a bag with a container of hummus and a box.  I was starving so I figured I'd cut my losses and just leave.

When I finally had the chance to open the box and look at my sammie, I was shocked at it's petite size.  No pita came with the hummus either.  The falafel was cold and the tahini was warm.  I bit in and was once again disappointed.   I almost walked back up to Bell to complain but I thought about the complaint line and decided it wasn't worth it.

Decor is great. It looks like a place where you want to chill and eat with your friends while people watching.
Now the food is a different story. Ordered a BBQ burger. It was pretty small for the 6 bucks I paid. I wouldnt have minded if the burger at least had a taste, but it tasted pretty blah to me. I take Burger King anytime compare to this burger and at least I get some fries and a soda for the $6. My husband ordered 2 pitas. Presentation was very nice and they actually put fries inside the pitas. I tried the chicken pitas and to me they had no taste either and were a little cold. We waited a while for our food too.

Will I go back? I think I will save my money and go somewhere else.

This place opened up recently, as the grand opening signs were still strewn about. We went to check it out as we a group of 4 were hungry and wondering about this new neon orange place. The place was crowded and we took that as a good sign. We should have taken it as a bad sign and turn and ran the other direction!

I understand that with an opening of a restaurant, things don't go smoothy, but what happened was just atrocious! We ordered and they happily took our money. We sat down at a table waiting for our food. We chatted and looked around. The couple that came in after us and ordered after us, sat down next to us got their food first. In fact they got both their orders, ate and left before any of us got any of our food! about 30 minutes in, we were wondering what the hold up was.

It took them 30 minutes to pour orange dressing in to a plastic container along with feta cheese and eggplant and cut up some bread to give us. We snacked on that while another couple of guys sat down next to us looking at the menu. We waited, and waited, and waited. 40 minutes later, I can see the person working the register behind the counter looking at the 4 of us sitting there. He walks over to the "wait" staff standing there and basically asks her to find out why we're still "squatting" and "holding" the table. Wow. Course she didn't say it that way. She asked us if we needed anything else. Yeah OUR FOOD! Its been 45 minutes! What we ordered seriously wasn't that complicated! it takes you 30 min to pour sauce into a plastic container and cut up bread?! now you want us to leave after you've already taken our money? at that point we were all annoyed. One of my friends got his dish, but not his cheese fries, the waitress said they were coming right out. It never came. 10 minutes later my order finally came, with fries and salad. It was almost an hour waiting for our food! absolutely ridiculous! And to top it off my friend's cheese fries STILL didn't come! We ate our food as we were starving, and you know what? It wasn't worth the hour wait! But because we were starving we ate it. My friend still waiting for his cheese fries got up with his receipt and went to the entrance near the kitchen where the people where, and demanded to know where his cheese fries were! I got my order of fries, and yet he's still waiting. He saw cheese fries sitting there waiting to be taken out, some other guy was going to take it to another table! Then the other guy realized this and gave it to my friend, and they just microwaved the cheese to make it melt. Honestly, did it really take you an hour to microwave cheese on fries?

Their system of sending out food is flawed, mostly by the staff of girls who are busy trying to look cute and pretty and not paying attention. They walk out with the food and call out your name, you can only hope that a guy brings your food out as they actually call our your name. I saw a girl walk out with food, pretend to call out a name, look around and bring it back to the counter and go they're not there. WTF? are you seriously that lazy? In the hour i was trapped there I noticed a lot from the staff. Yeah they're always cleaning, trying to clear tables so people can sit there and wait and wait, then shoo you away after they've taken your money!

The to go line was long and arduous, but they got their food. The rest of us waiting there got screwed. I understand in a restaurant, that the to go orders are a priority. But what about the rest of the orders? Seriously, keep up! You have all this staff leaning on the walls, chilling, and who's in the kitchen? 2 people? seriously, get your act together! First impressions are lasting and this place would have gotten 0 stars if yelp would have let me!

I'm sure there are way better pita places out there, but if you're in the area and in the mood for pita, take it to go, and save yourself the headache and frustration of having your time wasted!

Small gyros but fries come inside which I like.  Spicy feta dip is good enough to order again but other than that, not really worth it but if it was the last meal on earth I would not reject it.

I had my eye on this place for a few months and was very excited to see that they finally opened.  I ordered a beef gyro sandwich and a greek salad to go. Since I had called in the order first, it was ready by the time I arrived ~ So far so good.

If you are a gyro lover, you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED with Pita Pan.  This is a fast food Gyro place and their gyro indeed taste like "fast food".  Even though their prices seems attractive, the Gyro is TINY. I would say a 1/3 of the average size.   If you are a serious  gyro-connoisseur, your best bet (in bayside) is Avli which is just a few blocks further north on Bell.  There, you'll get authentic  delcious tasting gyro along with FANTASTIC lemon potatoes...and the price is good also.

History

Established in 2003

Pita Pan is a fast-casual restaurant that offers inexpensive, high quality food, made to order quickly.  It was founded on the idea that people want an exciting alternative to fast food restaurants.  A place with great tasting food that's healthy, fresh and still served fast.
We came up with our own unique Greek based cuisine, mainly pitas, wraps and panini's, and we fill them with only the best ingredients.  Leaner, savory meats from our rotisseries or grilled to perfection.  We use fresh vegetables in our large selection of healthy salads.  Our exotic toppings include our own signature homemade sauces.
Our motto is "fresh, fast, tasty"  Our dynamic stores are designed exclusively with fun, excitement, and our signature VIBE in mind.  Consistency and quality in both our product and customer service is immediately recognized and unmistakably appreciated.  From the beginning our mission was and is to offer fresh, healthy food prepared in a fast manner!
