This place looks great from the outside.  They specialize in healthy food.  Great!  What's not to like?

Well -- a lot.

I got the vegetarian platter and was surprised to find, like others before me, that the pita bread wasn't whole wheat; that the falafel wasn't really falafel but some gooey mess inside that was deep fried (yep: fried) and tasted nothing like falafel.  But the fun doesn't stop there: add to that the bland hummus and the baba ghanoush that was the same consistency as the hummus (no chunks of the eggplant left at all).  The people who took my order were friendly, however, and the food came out quickly, so that's the one check they have in their column.

I believe other people when they say they liked their dishes, and maybe if I didn't order the vegetarian platter I'd have liked it too, but the veggie platter was bad enough to keep me away from this place for good--why bother trying again when there are so many other options just steps away?

Not sure how healthy this place actually is, but the food is pretty good. The smothies and chicken platters are solid every time. The panini are pretty good as well.

Delivery is quick and portions are above average.

Now, isn't this place roobish?

If you're going to call yourself "healthy" (or "positively healthy" to be precise) you should really not be serving me fried falafels in white pita with a clearly long-refrigerated salad. Even the fakest of healthy joints have understood that falafels need to be baked and the pita needs to be whole wheat.   And if you absolutely MUST serve me unhealthy and average food, the least you can do is NOT charge me $11.25 for my lunch.  I'm surprised this place hasn't shut down.

Pretty good...
Long wait for delivery. French fries are HUGE. Veggie panini with goat cheese is good- rice bowls are ehhh. Chicken in salads can be dry.
It is an ok spot- delivery takes a long time and I think it is overpriced.

My wandering stomach took me into Pita Grill for lunch because I had heard a lot of positive things from coworkers. I cannot attest for the falafels because, well, I don't eat them. I can say, though, that I got a nice grilled chicken wrap with mesculin, cranberries and a yogurt sauce, french fries that are the thick cut with the taste of Arby's curly fries, and a can of coke for $7.95. And the wrap was, in fact, whole wheat. My stomach and my wallet were happy. If you order online on their website, you save 10%. Wallet is even happier. Wait time was maybe 5 minutes from the time I ordered.

The Vegetable Summer Rolls ($5.75) are clearly pre-made and stored in the refrigerator... they are totally dried out and terrible! Why would they waste my time and money with such a culinary abomination... fortunately/unfortunately the Feta Cheese Dip with fresh dill & diced cucumbers is outstanding but overpriced ($6.25 - ouch!)

Pita Grill is a good standby. It's not Gramercy Tavern and I certainly wasn't expecting that. You order your own food so score a point if you don't like to leave a tip. The food comes out in about 5 minutes flat, so score another point if you arrive really hungry or have no patience. Now onto the actual food - I ordered the falafel which I was bit surprised were fried as the whole premise of Pita Grill is that they're healthy - I don't know why they don't bake them. I believe the falafel balls were actually just hummus balls rolled in something and fried - I mean they weren't bad, they just weren't really falafel. All of their sauces though are quite tasty and they'll pretty much give you as many as you want which is great! I like options with my sauces. So yeah, Pita Grill does not equal deliciousness but it also does not equal gross.

I was looking for a quick lunch and the GF had a taste for falafel.  Not wanting to go downtown we decided to hit up the Pita Grill (it's like 2 blocks from my apt).

The dining area itself is nice - brightly lit, pictures on the wall, etc.  However they had takeout packs of silverware on the tables (plastic bags with knife, fork, napkin).

The food itself is OK.  I got the chicken rice bowl and the GF got a falafel sandwich.  We shared an order of hummus.  My thought was the hummus tasted like it came from the grocery store, but the chicken rice bowl was good.  A bit overpriced but at least it was filling.

The GF's falafel sandwich wasn't very good.  They use some strange carrot tahini sauce that looks like it is watered down thousand island/big mac special sauce.  The falafel itself was good, but when you tasted the carrot tahini, it really took away from the sandwich as a whole.

It probably should get 3 stars since it wasn't bad, just not my cup of tea.  I knocked it to 2 stars b/c I thought it was overpriced.

I was wavering between two and three stars on this place.  I was directed here by a coworker when I told her I was craving some kind of Middle Eastern food for lunch, and walked the two blocks from my office to this spot.  First off, their menu is NOT authentically Middle Eastern, so don't go here if that's what you're looking for.  Secondly, if you don't pre-order your to-go order, you will be waiting for a while.  I thought the food was completely underwhelming, and given that NYC has a pretty damn good selection of outdoor kebab stands (with similar menu options for half the price), places like this are really unnecessary.

I'm feeling generous today, Pita Grill, so you're getting three stars.

This place just opened recently and it has been pretty empty.  Problem is their menu.  They have falafel, hummus etc but then they also have Chinese.  Problem with these menus is if you can't make up your mind how can we decide?  Do I go here if I'm hungry for the babaganoush or Thai chicken?  I won't go there for either because I want it really good.  I had the falafel in a pita and it was just nothing special but ok  I'll try the hummus and tabouleh next  but there better be a lot of parsley in the tabouleh and if the garbanzos are canned, that is it for me.

And they say the food in NYC is the best...you folks need to try the West Coast... but not all at once please!

I'm glad I have the ability to rate my neighborhood Pita Grill and not slam the whole franchise.  I'll keep this short and sweet.  I think Pita Grill is a good addition to my hood as a healthy weeknight delivery place.  I tend not to stray far on the menu from a few low-risk choices that typically involve chicken.  The quality isn't always consistent and sometimes items can be over or under cooked.

What pisses me off about this place is the kids that answer the phone when you call.  They're constantly fucking around when I call and they'll put you on hold for a minute because they're laughing so hard, hitting each other etc (the kind of stuff I was probably doing at my job when I was their age).  Of course it's totally annoying to me now though.  I also find that the staff doesn't know the menu well, and will tell you that certain sauces don't exist when in fact they do and always have existed.

So it's unfortunate, but some nights I simply don't call these guys just because I don't want to deal with the nimrods behind the counter (and by that I mean myself about 10 yrs ago)

Probably the best low-fat chalkdust torture my muscle-building coworker coerced me to eat in the vicinity of my office. A couple stars for the chicken ceaser pita. Um, but let's be honest: I like calories too much to ever really take this place seriously.

Come on people, this place sucks.  I don't need to pay $8.00+tax for a piece of grilled chicken on a pita with some lettuce.  There is nothing special about this place, merely overpriced selections that aren't even that tasty nor healthy. It should be called Pita Nil, not Pita Grill. Skip it.  If you want a sandwich thats healthy and tastes good, try the Pump, Better Burger, or even the local deli.

Pita Grill has the tastiest, yummiest greek salad.  We always get their eggplant mozzarella panini sandwich.  However, a few times, especially around 7-8pm, they are extremely busy, so give yourselves a good 15-20 minutes to wait for their food for pickup.  Guess that's a good sign ... means their food is in demand!

i'm not sure how you mess up hummus but pita grill figured out a way to do it.  my husband got a tuna melt, the only problem was the cheese was not melted. my rice bowl was decent but nothing exciting. needless to say we have not returned even though it is less than a block away.

this place is good for quick lunch outs!  been here at least 3x, mainly because it's pretty close to where my friend(who has a walking problem) stays.
