We had to make a pit stop for reals today, when the MGB my dad and I were in decided to overheat just feet from their parking lot.  Well, that was convenient!
I had the bbq pork sandwich with a side of cole slaw---which I promptly dumped out of the little bowl and right onto my sandwich.  Yum.  But what a mess.  The sandwiches came on nice soft toasty white rolls and the service was friendly and quick.  My pop had the bbq beef sandwich, but he was too chicken to put his slaw on it.  Luckily for me, they brought out extra napkins and wet-naps without me even having to ask.  Cheap too, around $6 per plate?
And oh, the decor.  It is kitch-alicious.  Some kind of crazy chuckwagon flair happening in there.  It's totally awesome.  I wish that I would've had my camera with me.
The Pit Stop crew were even nice enough to give us a pitcher of water so we could cool down the broken car.

So I finally decided to branch out and start exploring the fine cuisine that Rancho Cordova has to offer.

Pit Stop is pretty close to all the corporate offices near Zinfandel / Mather but was not very crowded at noon on a Friday. I ordered a "mini-lunch" which consisted of BBQ Chicken, a pork rib, one side (macaroni salad), and some Texas toast for $6.

The chicken was a bit dry but had a nice smoky flavor; the rib was tender. I enjoyed the sweet Texas-style sauce. The mac salad was flavorful and had a nice zip to it.  The Tex Toast was basically just half a sandwich roll toasted with butter. Not bad, but also not quite the Tex Toast I remember from living down South.

Our server was friendly, fast, and attentive. A man who I assumed to be either the pitmaster, the owner, or both, came out to check on us as well.

It wasn't the best BBQ I have ever had, but the price was right and I will be back.
