Best BBQ...in The Woodlands, hey, this was a staple of my youth. I think it's good BBQ in general nevertheless for the dearth of BBQ places in the Woodlands area.
Love the (1) BUFFALO BURGER W/ JALAPENO BREAD (an upgrayyde)!!! Good sides: tater salad, onion rings, crinkle-cut fries; (2) pulled pork sandwiches; (3) half-chicken; (4) turkey (5) brisket.
Service hit or miss but friendly nonetheless. They also have drive-thru if you're lazy.
If you're starving, get the Tall Texan.Listed in: Country Cookin', Best Hous10 Burgers

Dry brisket and the house barbeque sauce is way too sweet. The worst, though, was the service.
There were only 4 tables seated, so each server had a table... and we had the worst one. I actually had to get up and go to the hostess stand to get a refill - our server never came by to check on our drinks. And when I got up, the servers and a pair of cooks were all standing with their backs to the lobby. -

I absolutely love the pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, and a Frostie grape soda. Once I find something I like at a restaurant, I almost always order it every single time I eat there. And since I love this combo I order exactly the same thing every visit. That being said, I tried the cobbler for dessert one time, and wasn't a fan. The topping wasn't sweet enough for me. The pulled pork is Memphis Style (dry rub not sauce). I like their BBQ sauce and just add more at the table. The potato salad has extra fresh dill (yum!). And yeah, I like grape soda....Frostie's not my favorite, but it's there so I'll drink it.
I've always had excellent service here and one day we were at the bar and the owner was there (from St. Louis) and got to talking with my Mom(also from STL) and myself, and he bought us both a beer. No surprises it was Budweiser, but no complaints to free beer! -

We had to grab something semi fast in the area so we stopped in looking for some tasty BBQ after reading the reviews. I ordered the baker with smoked turkey. Full of flavor and juicy chopped turkey breast :) I tried the brisket which was very lean and tender too : ) I like the bbq sauce on the table that has a little sweet and spicy in it. Service was fast and friendly. We saved room for some fresh apple cobbler with ice cream too.
We spent about $40 for 2. -

I love this place - the BBQ is delicious! The brisket is moist and lean and full of flavor. The potato salad is made with mayo and dill and tasty! The coleslaw is more of a vinegar based and okay but the BBQ beans are addicting. They also have a great variety of Frostie beverages and their customer service is top notch. They also have 2 kinds of bbq sauce and my preference is the memphis sauce which has a sweeter flavor.

I've only run into two decent BBQ joints since moving to Houston from Memphis. This is one of them. The ribs are made Memphis style.

A random trailer on the side of the road never smelled soooo good! The sign outside claimed them to have the best BBQ in the Woodlands (even though it's Spring? No clue, I'm confused as well) and after chowing down the brisket baked potato, I agreed!
Service was friendly and kudos to them for being patient with me as I tried to figure out what I wanted to eat and as I was overwhelmed by their soda pop selection! (I eventually chose the Frostie Root Beer)
Definitely stopping in here again if I'm in the area!
P.S. The restaurant is family owned! +10 pts!! :) -

First Impression: Stuck Up, Snotty, Full of themselves. You are immediately greeted by multiple signs saying that they won't even acknowledge you if you are on a cell phone. I was talking to my sick wife, and they were true to their sign. Once I was done they seated me, but they informed me that I could not choose where to sit. So I sat at the little table that they allowed. The menu reads "It is what it is. Don't ask for any changes and the waitress won't have to slap you."
Now to the food:
Sausage was good, but not great. Ribs were tender and fairly tasty, brisket was dry and bland. The corn was soggy and the fries were under cooked.
The waitress was friendly.
If you work in the area, stop in for a sandwich. Not worth the attitude and mediocre food to warrant pulling off the freeway. -

Umm.. May be 'the best in the woodlands'. But that doesn't say much.
I walked in on a Tuesday night to find this place nearly empty.. Usually not a good sign, as a good restaurant should be busy. I received quick service that was adequate, but not 'knock you off your feet.'
After consulting with my waitress as to what she preferred, I went with the pulled pork plate and a miller lite. I got corn and beans as my sides. The corn was ok, but a little mushy as it had probably been sitting in a pot in the back for hours on end. The beans were ok, nothing to write home about.
Now on to what everyone cares about.. the pork. The pork had great color, smoke rings and appearance. It had a good balance of fat and actual meat, nothing excessive like I've had elsewhere. The portion was good, not enough to absolutely stuff someone who can chow down, but enough to give me a good dinner. The bbq sauce is weak and needs more flavor... You can see the pepper in the sauce, but it needs more flavor as it is lacking. The same with the pork... Allegedly, they use a Memphis Style Dry rub, which equates for the great char on a good portion of the pork on my plate... But most rubs end up being very flavorful.. Some of my pork had hints of flavor, but it just didn't do it for me. The rub needs something more to kick it up a notch. It doesn't have to be in spice, but just flavor in general. If this place can get a little more flavor into their pork via infusion or different/more, it would be superb. -

Yuck! Hate to be negative but this was terrible, at 5:30 no less when one would expect fresher food. The toast was good and fresh, brisket was mediocre, corn was ancient- so old that one side was as hard as a brick- overcooked and mush on the rest. Fully loaded baked potato had about 3 teaspoons of topping on the whole potato. Maybe this was a rare thing for them, but I can't say I'll be back to try again.

Had to go get brisket while in TX, so picked this place, supposedly a local favorite. The locals rave about this place.
They are supposed to do something to a first-timer...which a local lady wouldn't disclose the details to me - "It's a texas thing...*giggle giggle*" So I made sure that wait staff doesn't find out that I was a virgin.
The place is cute, and not at all intimidating for a real local joint. (They are not trying to be cute and kitchy, the decor is authentic Texan bbq joint.) Had brisket and sausage combo, with baked beans and fried okra on the side (Did I order like a regular?)
The sausage was probably one of the best sausages that I've ever had. It was oh so good. The brisket was good, too. I saw people ordering baked potatoes stuffed with Texas chilli and it looked good.
So anybody out there with guts, please tell the wait staff "This is my first time here, and I'd like a coke from ice chest." Let me know what they'll do to you. -

I really wanted to try some Texas barbeque. Thanks to Yelp I found this place and it was not a bad choice.
The first thing I noticed about this place were the guns. Lots of guns on the wall; pistols and rifles. Guns are awesome, especially old guns. The other decor was the typical over the top Texas/Western stuff but it was pretty cool. The tabletops looked like cows too.
I got the pulled pork sandwich. It was very delicious, the flavoring was excellent, and the bread was good. Fries were plentiful too. My dad got the sliced beef brisket which I took a bite of and it was good too. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Spring or Woodlands area. We could use some places like this back in Atlanta! -

Had the brisket, hot links, beans and fries. The brisket was solid, moist and tender with a hint of smoky flavor. The hot link was similar, however the spicy version was too light on the heat. The sides, beans and fries, were done well but nothing special. Beans were just beans and sauce with no meat/pork in them. Price for the brisket/sausage and two sides was 11. I would have preferred a larger brisket portion.
If you want a draft beer your choices are bud light or miller light, so don't expect a wide variety.
Service was adequate and atmosphere abound with Texas pride.
Solid showing, but not stunning... 3 stars. -

Spring, TX
Ok BBQ, horrifying fried okra. Don't know if it was because I took them home first, but it was like, slimy and weird and creepy.
I haven't been back since, price isn't good, and not enough sides to choose from, which is why I ended up with fried okra in the first place...
Would go back for a friend, but haven't felt the need on my own. Blah. -

The Woodlands, TX
I was trying to find a good BBQ place not too far away from my place in the Spring/Woodlands area so I hopped on to Yelp. I was a bit skeptical after the last place I tried, Pappas BBQ. which I found to be an affront to BBQ.
My girlfriend and I decided to try this place out on a Saturday afternoon. Her favorite place is County Line and she is a pulled pork sandwich person.
The interior is a nice western cafe style setting. We were promptly seated. The wait staff was very friendly, courteous and prompt. Within about 5 minutes of placing our order our food arrived ready to eat.
I had the Pit Master Special (brisket, sausage, ribs) with potato salad and BBQ beans. The brisket was good, but not the best I've ever had. The sausage was very flavorful and I loved the ribs. They fell right off the bone and had a wonderful smoky infusion. I tried the meats without their sauce the first time and then tried them with sauce. The brisket was better with, but neither the ribs or sausage needed it in my opinion. To each his/her own!
The potato salad used red potatoes, which I prefer. It was pretty good, but I have yet to find a potato salad I like as much as my Mom's homemade version. The baked beans had some BBQ meat in them and they were some of the best restaurant beans I can remember having.
My girlfriend was a huge fan of the pulled pork sandwich. She is a sauce person and their sauce wasn't quite up to her requirements, but she said it was still fairly good. She also had the fried okra and she said she's had better. She like the unsweetened tea a lot.
Overall it was a very good BBQ place and I will definitely be going back in the future. The pricing was also quite reasonable I thought, and you can check out their menu on their website. I believe they also do catering if that is something you're interested in. -

Came in for an early dinner upon arrival in Houston. Located in the middle of a shopping center, the restaurant makes good use of limited dining room space.
I ordered the pulled pork plate with two sides. The pork is cooked Memphis style, and was definitely tasty, though not as tangy as I like. I added sauce tableside to bump up the vinegar-ness, and that worked well. Sides were very good - I had potato salad and BBQ beans (which included a bit of the pulled pork - nice!).
Service was very good - proactive, checking in, and kept the beverages topped up.
I got out of there for $13.50 including tip - not too shabby!
All in all, a good Texas BBQ joint. -

As usual, I'm a fan. This is the best bbq in the area. However, I went to the new location and they had a choice of texas style sauce or memphis style. I am a texan, born and raised, but I like the sweetness of memphis style, and at this location you have to ask for it. I still love the food, and everyone who works there.

Truly mediocre BBQ in a nice enough strip center location. I'm not sure how they smoke their meat, but it doesn't pick up much smoke flavor, and the sauce is bland. We won't be going back.

I enjoyed the brisket plate last Wednesday evening. My sides were the beans and potato salad--all were very good. Service was good, even though we were there a bit late after 8 pm. The decor is fine. This is a restaurant I will return to next time I'm in the area.

Good God All Mighty!!! Not just my #1 BBQ joint, but my first choice period. I'm blessed to work in a near by office building that is in walking distance to this gem. If your a virgin to "The Pit", as it is affectionately called around the office, try the pulled pork sandwich, but ask for it Memphis style. Everything on the menu is amazing.

OK. I was born and raised in Texas and after adolescence I joined the Navy where I have travelled all over the world and tried just about every style of meat indigenous to those areas (hold back the distasteful jokes if you would). Being from Texas I always had a certain taste in mind. Nowhere else in the world compares. Yes, brisket is the word. I don't know what happened over the last 11 years but something has been lost at least in this area. Pit-master is the closest thing to the fond memory of BBQ as opposed to the other joints I've come across around here. Smokey flavor, but small portions in relation to the price. I would go back but I'm not buying and the place is very Texas BBQ ambiance equipped. Stay away from Pappas and go here not during rush hour. Anyone who knows a great place in the north Houston area let me know. I hear Huntsville has a place but that's a drive, ya know. 3 stars due to lack of competition.
