Best thin-crust pizza around. Finally tried the wings -- they were very spicy and very good. Yeah, they're battered, but they're still good.

The staff is friendly, efficient, and FAST. I'm usually in-and-out in less than two minutes. (I usually get either take out or pick up.)

Several years ago, I read somewhere that the folly of autocracy is that it assumes that one man is right and 10,000 men are wrong.

This same text went on to say that the folly of democracy is that it assumes that 10,000 men are right and one man is wrong.

I'm telling you this as a lead-in to my point that the majority of Malden citizens seem to be pretty fucking stupid -- at least, based upon their pizza place preferences.

Maldenites RAVE about how awesome Pisa Pizza is.  Finally, the gf and I decided to try it.

The cheese and sauce were somewhat tasty, but this place still gets two stars for the following reasons:

* It took way too long for our pizza to arrive to where we had it delivered to -- much longer than the estimate given by the phone person.

* There wasn't enough sauce on the pizza.  (I'm pretty pissed with this trend with some pizza places to put hardly any sauce on the pizza.)

* The dough and crust SUCKED.  The texture was too hard and weird, and it did not taste good.

If someone offered us this pizza again for free, and if we were hungry, we would probably nibble a bit.  But I don't think we would pay for it.

Overall, this was an unsatisfying experience.  Plus, there are like a zillion pizza places in Malden and surrounding areas.  There is no reason for us to bother with this dud again.

Pisa pizza is legendary in Malden. I think mostly because they do a lot of events for the school where a certain percentage of all sales in a certain night will go to say, the chorus, or a sports team or whatever. That's probably the best thing about the place.

I'm sorry but, people of Malden, you clearly have no taste buds. The crust has zero flavor and it's usually hard as a rock. The rest is mediocre at best. My mom orders from here often because they have the two-for-one deal on tuesday. I always try to convince her to get it from somewhere better, but alas, the price is too good.

I felt like ordering a pizza so I looked up the best in Malden and ordered from here. The pizza arrived on time, looked pretty nice, but when I started to eat it I realized that the crust was completely burned, and that it had no flavor or consistency at all. It felt like I was eating the toppings on cardboard. I had ordered a large thinking I would eat a few slices and save the rest for later, but ended up throwing it all away, as it was completely unappealing.

Still scratching my head about how this can be the best pizza in Malden.

When I lived in Malden, this was my go-to pizza place.  After reading the yelp reviews, I gave this place a try with my parents.

The pizza is definitely exactly what you would expect out of a northeastern pizza place!

I never had them deliver because I lived so close, but I would always see their cars out and about in malden delivering. they are popular!

I would even consider going back even though I live downtown now.

The renovations look great!!

Pick-up please
Thin crust Chicken, Bacon, Ranch + Tomatoes
15 mins
$18

Crispy, Creamy, Salty (a bit too salty)...

The place is clean and big.  Clean, newly renovated, large interior.  2 big flat screen TVs playing sports. Outdoor seating.

3 stars because
The chicken was like chopped chicken nuggetts?? I thought it would be grilled chicken...

And it was too salty!! Bacon, cheese, and chicken nuggetts!! Salt overload.  Perhaps if the chicken was grilled it would be less salty and you could taste the chicken more.

A-OK.

Always great pizza.  Great service.  Quick Delivery.

With so many places to chose from in the Malden area I'm not sure how we found this one but once we did we've never ordered from any other place.

Besides the pizza, the calzones are excellent and ginormous.  A small can easily feed 3 people.    I've never eaten there but I've noticed they recently renovated and it looks inviting.

Skinny:

I take a lot of people here and they like it very much. I usually just get regular pizza, no toppings. he uses high quality cheese (Grande') and makes his own dough and sauce. Comes out excellent

Thin or thick crust is spectacular! get it hot though - you gotta love it right out of the oven (even though I'm lactose intolerant, I sneak some of this pizza once every 2-3 months:)

Full story:

I have been eating his pizza since 1997or 98 and long ago the owner showed me his process. Specifically:

Home made dough
home made sauce unseasoned (seasoning makes sauce acidic  gives you heart burn)
high quality cheese-  never used the cheap stuff even though the price of cheese has doubled or more since I've been going. he seasons the cheese by the way to avoid the acidizing of the sauce

the pizza comes out awesome - he does not use those conveyor belt ovens, he uses gas fired brick/like ovens I believe. it makes that crispy crust - i alternate between thick and thin slices.

great for bringing a group of kids to a pizza party.

We went out on a bike ride and happened to ride past this place.  A few friends were hungry, so we made a pit stop here for food.  I wasn't expecting much, because it's Malden (yea, so what if I am town-judgmental).

Surprisingly, the cheese pizza we ordered ROCKED!  It was very simple, plain cheese, but damn, it was good.  I know I often get all wrapped up in that fancy, gourmet, damage-your-wallet pizza, but I have to admit, Pisa pizza was quite satisfying and delicious.  I will definitely return again!

Pisa immediately gets 2 stars for being owned by a Malden Catholic alum.  We all know how upstanding and professional these people are (heh heh).

I've been eating this pizza ever since my high school days and the quality has always been consistently good.  I'm a huge fan of their Sicilian (or square) style pizza.  They have your typical toppings and other things such as cold subs and wings.  +1 star.

I have mostly done take out and their delivery service is extremely prompt and out of the numerous times I've ordered from them, I've never had any sort of issues.  You can eat in if you'd like - they have a number of tables and a couple of TVs to watch your favorite Boston sports. +1 star.

If you want consistently good pizza, you should get it from here.

I'm originally from the New York area (about 1.5 hours outside NYC) and I have been dying for some good NY style pizza ever since I have moved to MA.  For the past year or so I've been searching, longing, feeling unfulfilled.  This is easily the best pizza I have had in MA.  It's not as good as 100% genuine New York style, but man it's close (and I mean you really can't blame them, you need NYC water to make a good NYC pizza).

It was nice and thin, the sauce and cheese was just awesome.  And, we went on I think a Tuesday night, and it was "buy one get one free" pizzas.  I mean, how can that be beat?  I had pizza for a couple of days after that (it reheated terribly in the microwave at work, but whatever).

The restaurant itself is actually really nice, too.  It looks like they've just remodeled.  Just go!

And by the way: To the reviewer that prefers Dominos and Papa John's:  who the HELL prefers Dominos over ANYTHING?

I have never had a problem of any sort at this place, and the food is great! They deserve their "Best Pizza in Malden" appellation, but everything else I've had on the menu was superior as well. You can't go wrong! And on top of that, the staff is courteous and helpful. Pisa Pizza also participates in a lot of neighborhood-oriented things, like letting kids make pizza for their families on Monday nights, and hosting fundraisers for the local hockey team. This is a gem!

I haven't been everywhere, but this is probably the best pizza place in the city.  The interior looks sleek being all finished wood.  There is a reasonable amount of sitting, but I have been in there at times there wasn't any.  There is also some tables outside on a patio which adds a nice touch.  You can enjoy a nice slice and coke and breathe in the wonderful Malden air.

The thin slices you buy individually are actually two slices of pizza.  The thick slices are even better.   They are nice and doughy and cheesy...just the way I like my pizza.  I like how the put the pepperoni under the cheese when they make the pizza as well.  Holla.  Of course you can customize as much as you like.  They also have appetizers, some subs, and drinks.

Its a nice stop for a towny or even someone just visiting.  The place to go for pizza in Malden.

Excellent thin crust pizza with delicious variety of toppings.  My favorite was the parmesan chicken pizza, unfortunately my wife forbade my consumption of this delicacy because of the disastrous effects it has on my stomach, something in the chicken breading methinks.............
Overall-good service, great neighborhood feel, parking could be better.

The pizza here is not what I would order if I didn't have two kids asking for it.  They've got good ongoing specials (two pizzas, two fries and a couple of sodas under 20 bux) so I do order frequently to appease the kids.  If I do go I HAVE To order the boneless wings ... I get em "Mary" style... they give you all the sauces which makes it neat to mix it up a bit.  If you get Mary on the phone she's a howl (totally adds character to the experience)... when I call she sees my number and asks if I ever cook!!! LOL!  Tell her I sent you!

They do great fundraisers for the kids and are really involved in the community, sponsoring hockey, baseball and lots of local events so for this they get huge kudos!  I

If you're going out with just adults I'd say go to Regina but if there's kids involved this place is great.  They really like it.  They even host "make your own pizza nights" if you've got little ones.  Mine are a bit old for that now but still get a kick out of going there rather than takeout/delivery because they love to harass Mary!!!  I've got teenagers so when I'm feeding the world (parties and such) I order from here they give decent discounts for bigger than normal orders if you call ahead!

I'm a transplant to malden so I didn't know the area that well at first.  I tried all sorts of different shops before i found pisa pizza.  None of them compare, the specialty pizza good as well as the calzones.

the only thing is that they should use more fresh veggies i'm not a fan of canned veggies but thats it everything else is great.

When i give it five stars i mean it.  My brother has a pizza place a town over and i perfer pisa pizza over my brother's.  So definetly try it because you'll be hooked once you do.

Solid (delivery) pizza and -- from what I've experienced -- Malden's best.

With the exception on the little nuggets of breaded chicken, the quality of the toppings seem pretty high.  I'm a big fan of the Buffalo Chicken specialty pizza and plain 'ol cheese scores well too.  It's a little on the greasy side but, really, it's time for people to stop kidding themselves that melted cheese is a nutritious dairy product and that tomato sauce makes pizza a dieter's delight.

My biggest recurring qualm with most delivery/take-out places, the phone service is decent.  I can understand the receiving speaker and never find myself repeating myself more than once per inquiry.  It's generally 25-30 minutes from phone-to-door (which, I'm sure, varies depending on one's proximity).

I can't help but take advantage of this place since it's right down the street from my apartment complex.  And I have to say that they pizza is always delicious, always just the way I like it (I'm picky when it comes to crust that's too thick or too thin) -- and the boneless buffalo wings are to *die* for.

My brother told me this was the best pizza in Malden so I had to try it.  We drove in to the parking lot and I noticed 5 cars with the pisa pizza sign on the car so there must be alot of pizzas delivered in the area.  The place is very bright and there were alot of families that seem to eat here.  Tuesdays is also family night so if you order one large pizza, you get one large cheese pizza for free!  I got the chicken and broccoli pizza which I really loved.  I also tried the ranch, bacon and chicken pizza which was also pretty good.  The cheese pizza was ok but I would stick with the specialty pizzas.  The price was reasonable and the people working there were very friendly.  I would come back here next time I visit.

Edited review:
I'm sorry, but I have to downgrade my rating from five stars to three after getting an order there a few weeks ago.  It pains me to do this.  I ordered a pineapple pizza, which was the first pizza I had ever ordered whole from there (I had previously only gotten slices).  The pizza was mediocre and the pineapple was too tough and not very tasty.  My husband ordered buffalo wings.  They were not very good, either.  Everything else in my original review-- atmosphere, pizza slice quality, employees-- stands.

Original review:
I stumbled upon this place while avoiding paying the $3.50 to park at the Malden Center T-- I just park a half-mile away, get exercise, and save some cash.

Anyhow, I had been parking literally in front of this place for months before I ever thought to go in.  One day I was starving, had to go to an appointment, and knew I'd need some food to avoid feeling faint.  I decided to check this place out, and was so surprised when I walked in.  The place is really nice on the inside-- wood decor, comfortable seating.  From the outside, it looks slightly dive-ish.

The staff here was fantastic while I was ordering.  The brought my pizza slices (which were the biggest I'd ever gotten at a pizza joint) out to me and were so friendly.  Yeah!

The pizza itself was sooooo good!!!!  I'm very picky about the pizza I eat, and this place has absoultely delicious pizza.

You can tell this place is a very community-oriented business, too, since the walls are covered with years of pictures from Malden youth sports leagues and thank-you letters from local organizations.

Pretty damn good. I've only tried it once but I think I shall again. We had a bit of a pizza party at work and we grabbed 7 pizzas. I my favorites were sausage and onions and peppers. They seem to get the ratio of toppings to pizza Juuuuuuuust right. Some places overdo it, some skimp you on toppings. I took leftovers home and there were even good the next day in a microwave. Delivery was prompt, especially for such a large order.

One of the very few good pizza places in Malden. Finally a place where I can order some greasy pizza with a sauce that did not have a "boston" taste to it.
Delivery was fast - within the standard 30 minutes.
Have to take away 1 star for the boneless "wings" - they were the breaded ones, so if you like them go ahead and order.

When Pisa was on my way home from the T I used to go here all of the time.  I still take the time to walk out every couple of months because the pizza's really quite good.  Just taking a wiff of the place as I walked by was enough to get me in.  I'm not really sure what I like about their pizza so much as its not like most pizza I like.  I mean, the pizza's always a little visually unimpressive, but the taste is nothing to complain about.  Everyone I've taken to Pisa has liked it, too.

The decor is very old-school.  Lots of wood paneling, simple tables and dinner chairs.  Nothing cheap, but nothing fancy.  Perfect for a neighborhood pizza parlor, if you ask me.  They've got an open kitchen behind the front counter and a jukebox in the back.  Service is generally very good here, though some of the high school kids working the counter can be a bit lax compared to their exceptional adult counterparts.

Value is best if you're getting full pies.  Costs on dairy keep going up and Pisa has done their best to keep a good value, but its not as good as it used to be.  Still, for the quality its well worth it and its well under the premium pizza parlors in Boston and every bit as good.  I grew up right outside New Haven so I have high standards for pizza and Pisa does a more than respectable job living up to those standards.

I have been reluctant to review pisa pizza as it is convenient to order from on the rare occasion I want pizza/sub foods, they have really good calzones, and because I keep hoping they will get their act together... but yesterday it happened again. every single time I have ordered (pick up or delivery) from pisa pizza they have messed up my order. The food is generally good for what it is and they have humongous good calezones. but they never ever make my order how I have asked (and it is not as though I have a long list of requests). I always ask for my subs with no sauce on the sub and only sauce on the side (I am careful not to say, just 'sauce on the side' in case they think i want extra sauce) and my subs always arrive with sauce on them (and generally soggy- this is why i started asking for them w/ the sauce on the side to begin with). Over the weekend I ordered a calzone for lunch. I checked with the girl I was ordering from to see if there was sauce in their calzones (I could not remember) and she said 'yes', I figured this would work better for a calzone than a sub and said 'ok, great! can I also have cheese and peppers in it please', she said yes, the end. The order arrives (I will give them credit b/c this time they said it would take 30 minutes and it only took 15 minutes) and when I cut into this beast i see nothing but the cheese and the peppers. i said to my roommate 'come on now! how can they ALWAY f*ck it up- every sinnnnnnnnnnngle time?! even when i double check!'
to say the least i find this VERY annoying, how hard can it be to mess up something like that (every single time- and we are talking at least 15, most likely more, times). so they may be nice people and it may be convenient, and their food may be pretty good bad for you pizza and subs but the frustration they cause me is making me give them a 2 pointer. get on the ball folks, this is life, this is a job, not a rehearsal.

update: i just received a very nice, attentive, PROFESSIONAL yelp message from joe crowley (pisa's owner). He responded to my review and said he will work with his staff on this. i found his highly professional response refreshing- i will give pisa a try, in a few months and i am bumping my review up to 3.

Plus one star. They have the best eggplant pizza.  I'm glad I gave them another chance.

Fine.  Call me a townie.  But I love Pisa.  Sure, you might start to get sick of it after four years of high school fundraisers, meetings, and rehearsals... but you start to miss it.  Then you taste dining hall pizza... then you really miss it.  Pisa is a great place and they're very well-known and respected in the community.  The slices are big and I've never had a bad pizza from them.  They're good for take out or eat-in... you order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table.  It's clean and has a comfy feel to it.

Now, this pizza is truly in my top five list, below Pinnochio's Sicilian slices in Cambridge and New York Pizza in Malden, but WAY above DiPietro's in Malden. They have awesome mozzarella sticks and calzones as well. I never ask for delivery, since I live so close, but they have an ARMY of drivers at all hours who pass by my house. It is also a better "pizza restaurant" - meaning that their tables are more private than most joints, and they have outdoor seating in the summer. Never get their wings though.

This is a really good pizza parlor!   I think the secret to the Pisa Pizza is the cheese and spicing.  The crust is good but does not possess much flavor of its own, but the combo of the fluffy crust with the perfect cheese and the light dusting of spices makes this pizza really stand out.  The toppings are generous and where normally I can eat 2-3 pieces of pizza and feel full, 1 - 2 is all it takes here! This is some dense, high quality pizza goodness.  I also like the mozerella sticks!   I can't tell you about the store itself because We always carry out.  If you are wanting to try the pizza, you really should.  It's delicious!
