UNGH. *DROOLS*
just WALKING BY THIS PLACE makes you wanna smack your face in the window and eat their displays.

SERIOUSLY! although I'm allergic to fruits, and therefore can't eat their apple cinnamon roll amazing goodness they have (that EVERYONE reccomends) let's just get right down to it, anything you get there is going to be GOOEY, HOT, and amazingly TASTY.

The line is long for a reason, and their food really proves it. It's small, it's cramped, and you feel like you're going to have an anxiety attack since everyone's moving around so quickly and you have to practically scream out what you want, BUT............ once you take that first bite you're going to fall in love.

I'm so jealous that this place is only in Seattle.

This place was fabulous. Yummy sweet and savory piroshkies baked fresh and ready to go.

I had the beef and onion, which was delish, but was even more mesmerized by the beef and cheese. Now that was heaven on earth!

We even bought some to bring for our car ride to Portland that afternoon and some for our friends who also highly recommended this place.

I'm filipino, if I opened up a piroshky place in San Jose, Ca, do you think I could pass for a russian? Hahahahahah

I will come back to Seattle just for this!

we should've stopped in before we stepped into the main arcade at PPM... we would've been able to eat more.
bf and i shared the potato, onion and mushroom piroshky... i really wanted to try a sweet one, but he was itching for savory, but DANG it was SOOOOO good, even though we were full off all the other foods we stuffed in our mouths.
it was hot, fresh, savory..... BEST balance of fillings to pie. i've never had a piroshky before, but am so glad i found this place on yelp and had a chance to check it out!!!!!

I love this place. They make the baked variety of these delicious little savory-sweet pastry pies. My own grandmother was ukranian, and made a boiled fried variation (more like polish style pierogies or pelemini, my grandfather was polish).  My dad took me here for the first time when i was in 10th grade, and I immediately fell in love.  I dont know if they do in the summer, but in the fall and winter, they also have hot borsch withsour cream, and it is absolutely authentic tasting and delicious.  My favorite pieroskhy is beef and cheese, tastes like a buttery pastry encased cheeseburger. SO DELICIOUS! but they have so many varieties, you cant really go wrong. I get one for myself and a bag of a couple to go home to dad and sisters.  The long line out the door should tell you this place is a gem!! EAT HERE while at the market.

I'd even brave the tourists on my lunch hour to visit Piroshky Piroshky!  That's saying a lot since I have an aversion to such creatures.

The line outside the door looks ominous but usually moves quickly, and many of those people are just ogling tourists that aren't planning on buying anything anyway.

The sauerkraut & carrot piroshky is definitely the lunchtime where-it's-at.  Although beware the small seeds (flax?  fennel?) that hide within.  Make sure you have a spotter or a mirror to check yo-self before you become that person with seeds in your teeth.

A small lunch will cost you under $5 for one piroshky.  Eye the sweet decadence of their pastries and you might walk out of there having spent closer to $8.  All in all, a carb-o-licious lunch of piroshky for under $10 sounds like a good way to spend the lunch hour.

This is the one place downtown I am happy to return and bare the tourists.. so many amazing piroshkys to choose from! Quick, served to go wonderfully hot and tasty perfectly filling and well worth the price. Some of my favorites are the cheddar cheese roll, the strawberry rhubarb, the oscar's star, and the smoked mozzarella and mushroom/broccoli.

I've walked past this place at least 10 times a week for the past month. Each time, I look at it and think "tourist trap." Since I'm living here for the summer, I consider myself not-a-tourist, and I refuse to go in. After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided that I'm still enough of a tourist to try their smoked salmon pate piroshky, so I swung by Piroshky Piroshky on my lunch break today.

I got into line, and the first thing I notice is that the guy in front of me is wearing what looks like a League of Awesomeness shirt. Because he's in front of me, though, I only caught a quick glimpse when he turned around. The line seems to move quickly, but I don't know if it's actually moving quickly or if my continuous attempts to surreptitiously glance at his chest without being creepy just make it seem like it's going quickly.  Right before he makes his selection, he turns around and sees me obviously eying his shirt and looks both confused and disturbed. "Sports Racer?" I ask quickly. He smiles, "Yeah."

The fact that he is a Sports Racer was almost enough to make me forgive him for what he did next: he took the last smoked salmon pate piroshky. The last one. That was what I came here for. Bummer.

"Do you have any more in back?" I hopefully ask the small asian lady working the register.

"No more. 20, 25 minutes," she replies. Incidentally, the exact length of my lunch break.

"Umm... beef and cheese please!" I choose the closest one. Hey, if it's as good as Yelp proclaims, I can't go wrong.

Still a little bummed out by the fact that my lunch is not filled with nor shaped like a salmon, I unwrap the piroshky and take a bite.

Oh man. I've been missing out. See previous reviews.

I'll be back to try the smoked salmon. Mr. Sports Racer, I forgive you. My lunch was delicious.

I get it! I totally get why their line spills out the door onto the sidewalk. At first I didn't get it. I thought, what are those fools doing? I snuck a peek at their pastry filled window--whatever, I thought.

The next day my friends were raving about Piroskhy! Piroshky! Okay, so I ditched them to brunch with a local, but I didn't know my vacation buddies were going to get sucked into what a considered a pasty tourist trap. They raved, they shouted Piroskhy! Piroshky! to the high heavens. I still wasn't convinced. I wasn't convinced, until, until the morning I was handed a white chocolate cherry pastry for breakfast: Oh. My. Russian. God. Piroskhy! Piroshky!, I shouted!

Hours later we hit Piroshky! Piroshky! for lunch. I ordered a ham, spinach, cheese (heartattack) pocket. The crust was of a flakier and greaser variety than my morning pocket, which still stated alright, but couldn't compare to my morning puff--I'll know better for next time.

Leaving Seattle, leaving Piroshky! Piroshky!, was bitter sweet, because while I love my Russian hot pockets, that fatty gooey temptation eventually would have been the death of me.

The pastries here are pretty much weapons of mass destruction and should have been used in the Cold War. I'd go for the Beef and Onion for my weapon of choice here.

Totally a played up touristy spot - but all good cities have them!! Piroshky Piroshky is great - decent prices, delicious piroshky, friendly staff, and clean store. You also have to love Piroshky Piroshky because of the convenience aspect - right in Pike Place Market, open storefront, and handheld food that is great for eating and walking. Can't get much better than this place. I highly recommend the cherry & white chocolate piroshky (see my pictures!).

It's touristy.  You'll bound to find a long line.  And some of the lesser menu items aren't all that great.  But every time I visit Seattle, Piroshky Piroshky is a dive that I have to visit.

I recommend trying a few of the favorites before getting adventurous.  We tried the chicken mushroom and rice piroshky, but it was dry and didn't taste that great.  The beef and onion, on the other hand, was delicious.

We also took a few sweet ones to go, the cranberry apple roll was clutch for our road trip to Vancouver the next day.  I don't know how the locals feel about this place, but if you're visiting the area, give Piroshky Piroshky a try.  You won't regret it.

I'd really give this a 3.5, but alas the yelp rating system doth deny me.

Honestly, if this place weren't just surrounded by so many other incredible places it would probably easily be a 4. Maybe I'm not being fair, but I'm stingy in my ratings.

I've only stopped by a couple of times, and I've gotten good food for a good price with great service each time. I certainly encourage anyone who hasn't been to stop by. I will be going back as well. Next time I stop by, I'll try a few suggestions from you fellow yelpers and this might end up getting bumped up to a 4 star. Stay tuned.

These piroshkis are good just about any time of the year, any time of day. The ones that come in the flakier crusts (like the sausage or the ham and spinach) tends to be a bit on the greasy side. I prefer the more "bready" type piroshkis.  I'm also not a huge fan of the sweeter stuff but that's just me.

For those of you who are visiting or new to town, here's a great way to spend your summer day: walk around the market and grab some fruit, get a piroshki, go down a few doors to the Mexican grocery store and get a mexican coke (made with real sugar, not corn syrup) and find a spot of grass. It will be about the best $10 you can spend in the city.

I am obsessed with this place. If it's good enough for Anthony Bourdain, it's good enough for me. It's definitely a good sign when you see a line forming outside of the store and wrapping around the corner. Perfect for a quick, portable snack/lunch.

The smoked salmon pate piroshky is to die for as well as the beef and onion, and apple cinnamon. Haven't tried any of the cheesy ones since they look too greasy.

Avoid the organic smoothie guys that set up shop across from here though. There isn't a yelp entry for them, but $6 small smoothies (that aren't too special) make me stabby.

I really don't know what the dealio is with this place. It has tons of stars, and we were suckered in to stop to watch a manly man fold pastry. Not to mention like the Boudin in SF, they use this big fan to blow the scent of yummy baked goodies onto the sidewalk to lure you in. Well you know what? Like that lame Yellow Pages ad on the radio, it worked. I walked in. And shelled out 3.50 for a piroshky. I looked over the selections (and this is post HUGE breakfast from Portage Bay), and picked out a smoked salmon one.

The crust looked super flaky... but I was mildly disappointed by the texture... It was no different from the regular buns I can pick up at my neighborhood Cantonese bakery. It was just... a filled bread thingy. :(

I have to say though... the filling was VERY yummy... and looks can be deceiving... Being completely ignorant, I thought the crust would be similar to a croissant... flaky and buttery. Oh well!! Should have checked out the yelp reviews next time. :)

4 stars for the nice show, the yummy filling, and the tourist appeal.

I've had real, authentic Russian food, so when it comes down to it, I'm very picky about the Russian food I do eat.. And I've got to say the only Russian bakery that I love more is a hole in the wall in San Francisco. Everything is delicious, the staff are always insanely busy but so nice and helpful if you have questions.

Oh Piroshky, Piroshky, some of my favorite Seattle memories have you in them. I've even bonded with a woman from Arizona, while I was living in California, over you. When I was living downtown, near the market, I would go there every Sunday morning and get a piroshky and sit on the dirty sidewalk in a cute skirt and eat my little present to myself.

Go here. You won't be disappointed.

Ideas:

Pick one:
A. You are at Kells and just can't get behind any of the menu items.
B. You are going to Kells and know you just don't want a corned beef sandwich.

Then, is Piroshky Piroshky still open?
If so, proceed, if not, find you're out of luck.

Now, walk down the hill and to the left, hop in longish line your come across, that's Piroshky Piroshky.  You wont know what you want until you have to order, simply by nature of how the counter is set up, so get ready to think fast.

3 Sweet, 3 Savory, pick um.

Now smuggle them into Kells, they won't care.

I ran into this place by accident. I never heard of it. I never ate it before.

From the long lines and countless articles on the exterior window, this place looks like a must. I had the chicken mushroom and rice piroshky. It was highly suggested from the staff.

Even Chef Anthony Bourdain came here!

I want one right NOW!

I am giving a five star review despite the fact I've only had one thing here - the cheddar and green onion piroshky.  I had it twice, in back to back days, each time on a full stomach.  I had to force this thing down since I had no more room for food, but it was absolutely worth it.

This magnificent bun is served warm, with the green onion providing a fresh bite that counterbalances the creamy cheddar.  The size (think softball pounded flat) is perfect for breakfast or, in my case, a snack on a full stomach.

I also tried a bite of the cherry and white chocolate piroshky, which left me similarly floored.

Go here and get FoodHappy.  It's the best emotion ever.

This place reminds me of my days spent in Moscow, thats how authentic this stuff is...ok I've never actually been to Moscow but seemed a good way to start my review.....

Whatever the case may be (authentic or not authentic) it's all FREAK'n delicious.  The beef and onion my substitute when they did not have the beef in cheese literally melted in my mouth (seriously that's a good thing).  The pastry is filled with buttery goodness.... and look theres meat inside...I'll take another please.

Piroshky, Piroshky had me wanting more, more.

There are a lot of food options at Pike Place Market. This is the place we kept coming back to. Piping hot piroshky made a good hand warmer cupped between my palms. Unfortunately for my hands the little meat pocket was better in my belly.

I was partial to the piroshky with beef and onion. Roller coaster of emotions eating one of these. The smell and taste of one will make you giddy with anticipation.  Watching it slowly disappear into your mouth will make you sad. Until you get another one! And then the vicious cycle begins again. I think that's why I had six of these. Maybe they should make them bigger.

Why, oh why, did I try this place? I knew it was going to be good; I just didn't know how good. I am now addicted and I can't stop the cravings! Why can't I live closer to the market? I love the beef and cheese and the smoked salmon shaped like a cute little fish ready to be caught. Everything on their menu sounds delicious, but I always lean towards the savory.

Maybe I should buy a bunch the next time and freeze them. Hmmm...I wonder how well they freeze?

Flaky.  Flavorful.  Fuckin' delicious!

If you are visiting the Pike Place Market, you have to stop by Piroshky Piroshky first for an on-the-go snack that you can eat while walking through the market .  Got a couple of minutes?  Stay and watch the workers make them.

I have nothing negative to say about this place.  Nothing.

It's small and filled with piroshkies!  My friend and I split two - the spinach, egg, and cheese and also the potato, mushroom, and onion.  They were served warm and were so soft, fresh, and delicious.  Honestly, I could have sat there all day and sampled away.

Amazing.  If I lived in the downtown area of Seattle, I'd be here a least once a week, if not more.  The menu is broken into three parts: meat, vegetarian, and sweets.  I wish I had tried one of the sweets too.

This place was featured on the Travel Channel's No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain when he visited the Pacific Northwest.

Don't leave Seattle without going here and eating as much as you can!

I know this place doesn't need another review, but I saw some douchebag give them a 3, so here I am to bump up their average.

Without a doubt, the Sour Kraut Peroshky (Piroshki) is one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted.  It's like creamin' your jeans good.
It stays good in the fridge for at least a whole day & when heated in the oven, returns to the same beautiful texture & taste as the second the batch first came out of the oven down at the shop.
Like many others, my hubby loves the Rosemary, Chicken, & Rice Peroshky.
We both agree on the Moscow Roll.  A sweet & creamy, but not too sweet nor creamy, blend of Bavarian Creme & Creme of Wheat.  Sounds odd, I know, but TRUST!!!
Also have tried the Rhubarb (way too sweet, not tart at all), the Chocolate Creme w/ Hazlenut (Nutella rolled in a pastry, I wasn't impressed), the Marzipan Roll (the most sickening-sweet Marzipan I've ever had) & the Cheese Roll w/ Green Onions (bland, I prefer jalepenos to onions & slightly greasy, but it is cheese after all).

As a vegetarian it is hard to find convenient, and more importantly, good tasting food on the go.  Piroshky Piroshky is FAB!  Meat lovers, don't despair, I have heard nothing but great things about the meat versions, I have only had their vegetable filled piroshkies but there are so many different kinds and this is one of those places where you just can't go wrong no matter what you get.  It's super fast and besides, $3.50 for a delicious, filling but not over the top lunch?  Beat that, I dare you.  There aren't that many foods that I crave just hearing the name, but mmmmmmm....piroshky!

Love, love, love these piroshki's!!!! I always go down to La Panier to grab a latte then walk over to Piroshki Piroshki to grab a beef and onion ( That one is my favorite... but I like the mushroom, onion and celery as well.) then take a stroll around downtown. Feel like something sweet? Their apple cinnamon is delicious! Not toooooo sweet.. and a bit tart~ yum!

This place almost always has long lines and you have to get one to go usually. They do have a counter where you can sit and eat, but it sits three-four people tops.

I always bring piroshki-virgin's here... and they always end up loving it!

I was wary of this place given my experience with Russian cuisine while in Russia (no offense to Russians - the country was great, just the food didn't seem to agree with my stomach). However, my friend convinced me it was good. I was pleasantly surprised. The place is TINY and is pretty much standing room only unless you're lucky enough to grab 1 of the 4 bar stools available. The baked goods are fresh and tasty, and they'll heat it up for you. I had an apple cinnamon roll while my friend had a ham and cheese piroshky. Before we left, I got a marzipan roll (filled with almond paste) to go for the hubbie.

Yum!

Chocolate and cream cheese pinwheel, you have my heart.

You also have a name, but I don't remember it...all I remember is how wonderful you tasted. And I remember how you looked, dotted with cream cheese swirls, a ribbon of smooth chocolate ganache, pastry arms gracefully akimbo.

Here's a photo for our gentle readers: http://www.piroshkybak...

For our not so gentle readers: take this tasty creation home. It's like sex...addictive, seductive, wonderfully breathtaking.

I had just eaten lunch, so I decided to save my chicken, mushroom, and rice piroshky for later.  Once I got home, I popped it into the microwave to quickly warm it up (what a crime, I know).  However, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't turn into a soggy mess; the pastry crust was still flaky and tasty.  Compared to meat piroshkies I've had at other places, this one is definitely the best.  Imagine how good it must taste when eaten fresh!  I have yet to try the sweet ones, but I heard from the cashier that their apple cinnamon is the most popular.

Yes, the line was long, but it did move fairly quickly.  Plus, I could see through the window where the baker was preparing the cinnamon cardamon braid...hypnotic, I tell you!

Great, quick eats while walking through the market; and a good variety of pastries, meat Piroshkys, and veggie Piroshkys.

Yummy. Yummy.

This place is great, perfect for a snack while at the market.

I got the cheese, onion and potato pirosky. It was soooo tasty and delicious. The outer bread reminded me of a bagel with a touch of sweetness. The inside is potatoey, cheesy goodness.

My husband got the meat pirosky and he loved it.

The service is super-friendly. The inside is very small with like 4 seats or so. I can't wait to go back here!!

This number of stars isn't for the service, location, or tastiness of the product.  All of those things are brilliant.

This number of stars is because of the inability to state on the menu that the smoked salmon pate piroshky filling is half cream cheese.

With the amount of people with dairy allergies now, you would think.  I understand the high cost of smoked salmon, but if they made the other half of it onions or something instead of cream cheese, I'd raise this to a five.  Or at least, they could state what the filling actually consists of on the menu.
