Pipers has been around since 1964. The food definitely evidences why it's been around this long. Also, can you really go wrong with a medieval-themed Korean-owned American restaurant in Ktown that's open 24 hours? No.

I typically like to overdo breakfast when it's eaten at a restaurant -- omelets with everything you can stuff into an omelet imaginable,  pancakes piled with every fruit suitable to pancake-piling, skillet-cooked anything etc.  For some reason, I opted just to have the simple pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage special and it WOWed me. Pancakes soft and fluffy, eggs not over scrambled, bacon was crispy, sausage was sausage-y...perfection. All for the price of a subpar Denny's breakfast. I'm so looking forward to trying everything else on the menu!

Every once in a while I get an uncontrollable urge for cheeseburgers around 11pm.  Pipers is not a bad place to go!  Actually, I heard a friend got food poisoning from their turkey lentil soup, so uh don't order that.  Anyway, I had a cheeseburger and a scoop of chocolate ice cream.  Both were good, as far as I can remember.  I DEVOURED them.

There's lots and lots of booth seating, which I love.  The atmosphere is adequate but a bit weird... it's a diner but they try to make it seem like a formal atmosphere.  Maybe it's just the dim lighting and all of the black upholstery playing tricks on me.  Or maybe that it's a medieval-themed Korean-owned American-style restaurant.  I don't know how the hell I would decorate if that were my MO!  Anyway, our waiter was totally stoned, and although he would forget our orders 20 seconds after we said them, he started writing stuff down.  Also he refilled my boyfriend's hot tea water approximately every three minutes.  Weee--eeird!  But what can you expect at midnight.  He got the orders right (eventually) and service was fast.  Hardly anyone else was there.

A+ for privacy, B+ for ambience (better to go with one or two people, probably not so good for a big drunken group of hungry people)

What a awesome place. ME and some co-workers thought it might possibly be a korean food spot. We debated with pho' 2000 and went here. This place is a notch above denny's but is hilarious and awesome. It's open 24hrs crazy.

Hands down BEST CLAM CHOWDER in Los Angeles. it's so delicious it makes me wanna cry and sing kumbaya.

edit -  i forgot to mention. after your meal, you can hop on next door and grab some beer. they have a LOT of beer on tap, which is hard to find in ktown... i think the closest is yard house at la live.

No one can talk about Pipers as well as I can because Ive been going there since I was 5 years old. Back in the 70s it was quite a different place, it was more of a king Arthur theme with young maidens in full Camelot attire with knights and Armour standing by the walls. They even had a treasure chest in the front of the restaurant filled with toys that the kids could have if they ate all their vegetables. The food was and has always been great and consistent. Today im a 37 year old Jewelry Designer who still brings important clients to Pipers for late night business meetings and the food has not changed. Also a great place on thanksgiving if you're away from family and want to go to a quiet restaurant that's been around for decades.

Like a Denys restaurant in Korea Town Los Angeles,  food and service is OK and reliable, nothing shocking to report, its a great place to crash after a long night, always open.  its NOT a place for a date you hope is going to pan out.

This place holds a special place in my heart, cause I'm sad to say that while I've eaten here many times before, I spent a Christmas dinner here with family (long story shirt, we were lazy to make a proper meal, and this place had the shortest wait).

The food here is good, but nothing special, typical American food with a mix if some other ethnic varieties. But you come here to have a relaxed meal and be served by attentive staff. They're open 24 hrs which is a major plus. It's a much better alternative to eat here after a night of clubbing rather than denny's or the long wait at fred 62.

Why Pipers deserves my stars:

*Cops. Bad boys! whutchoo want~~~  you know if you see po-po's, the place is going to be pretty good.
*24 hours. Pipers has probably witnessed a lot of FUBAR ppl behavior but still maintains a clean/comfortable ambience. It's wayyy nicer than any Dennys or Norms I've been to in the wee hours of morn.
*Beef vegetable soup AKA Pipers porridge.  Doesnt look pretty but once you have a taste you won't care what it looks like!
*Burgers are yum.  The mushroom burger or avocado bacon burger=Get in my BELLY!
*Buffalo wings hit the spot.

-Only gripe is that the one of the women's bathroom stall doors gets stuck.  Please fix and I will change to 5 stars!

What an unexpected treat plopped into the middle of K-town!

Met some friends here for a Sunday brunch and had no idea what to expect. SO pleasantly surprised! CHEAP mimosas and bloody mary's (well, for LA), nice full brunch options for under $10, and a decor that's ... well ... eclectic? Walking in feels like a retro early century traincar, the main dining room is ... asian gothic? slash mid-century art deco?

Regardless, great food, solid service; slightly reminiscent of a diner, which is ALWAYS a plus.

In all honesty I have only been here late night dining, usually after an intense night of high octane drinking.  This place has nice decor and serves some nice hearty american food.  I'm pretty sure its Korean own so I haven't really seen much of these places around.  Much nicer than your typical denny's or norm's late night diners, but still that being said I've never really left this place being blown away, or I never find myself ever craving this place.  That could also be attributed to the seemingly forever long drive it takes to get here after our party extravaganzas.  If you're around the area after some partying, a good place to hit up.  I'll need to come here again when I'm more cognizant to re-rate the place.

NAME: Piper's

TYPE OF CUISINE: American eats 24/7 since 1964

ADDRESS: 222 North Western Avenue

PHONE: 323-465-7701

WEBSITE: http://pipersrestauran.../

RESERVATIONS: Nah

GENERAL LOCATION: East side of Western Avenue, a couple of doors south of Beverly

HOURS: 24/7

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS:  Yep

DELIVERY SERVICE: Uh-uh

BANQUET FACILITIES: Nah

CATERING: Nup

TAKEOUT: Yeh

NOISE FACTOR: Pretty good! Heavy carpeting, low ceilings!

VEGGIE FACTOR: Not rilly

KID FACTOR: Keep the screamers out!

OUTDOOR SEATING: Yes, for those of you who like to inhale the diesel fumes coming in off off Western Avenue. Why ANYONE would like to sit outside in this town is beyond me.

AMBIANCE/ATMOSPHERE: What do you say to walking into a room with two suits of armor and coats of arms on the walls? What do you say to an old place (1964) that's a Tam O'Shanter wannabe serving American eats plus Korean favorites, owned by Koreans (but then what isn't around Western and Bev)? Fact is, it's a respite from the hard, hard world. Stepping in to Piper's is stepping into a bygone era.

(Here's a tidbit for you: I was there today to meet a guy who's very well-known in this town. In fact he's the prez of a small railroad. We had to discuss something to do with that. He's been coming here since 1964. He's a fixture there, like Walter Winchell at Sardi's. It's his second office, because it's a handy spot inbetween his residence and his downtown office, has free parking, and they leave him alone to work. In fact he used to use the place to study for one of his master's degrees. )

FOOD: The menu is a kind of weird combo of IHOP, Denny's and Woo Lae Oak. It started out in '64 as "Medieval English Pub Canterbury," and now carries on menu wise as American Breakfast pus kim chee, kai be and veggie quesadilla -- go figure. But it all works!

FOOD PRESENTATION: Good food and cheap prices!

DRINKS: All the usual you'd find in a good eatery PLUS a full bar!

SERVICE: Excellent: attentive and friendly

PRICE RANGE: About $15-20 for a good meal.

PAYMENT: Cash, CC

PARKING SITUATION: Parking lot in the back.

RED FLAG: It's VERY INCONVENIENT getting out of the parking lot. If you go in on Western, you can't get out that way again; you must leave by going out on Beverly and ONLY making a right turn. So you must go way out of your way in order to go west.

I have driven past Pipers since I was a little kid and have never tried it once.  I have had friends who have tried it and said it was your basic diner with a Korean restaurant facade on the outside, guarded by knights in armor.  Okay, well that should have made me try it earlier but I still didnt.

The other day I happen to go there in the morning after waking up around 11 or 12.  Knowing that all the breakfast spots would be packed and being starved and not having the ability to wait to be seated while other people stair at me in delight that they are eating and I am emaciating away right in front of them...my girl and I decided it would be better to just try that place around the corner.

I had brought up Pipers on other occasions but she never wanted to go because there is another place up North named Pipers that was a buffet style restaurant.  I tried to convince her that this Pipers was not the same but she never believed me.  On this day I was too hungry to care if it was a buffet or served out of a trough.  I wanted food and I wanted it now!

So we pulled up and found ample parking...on the street or in the lot.  The place doesn't look like a diner but I assure you, that is all it is.  It is indeed guarded by knights in armor as you can see in the pics.  The service was good, the food was good... above average if you compare to Denny's on par with Norm's.

I ended up havin the breakfast burrito and it was really good.  Nothing like Lily's Cafe or the Corner Cottage but a damn solid breakfast burrito and just what I needed.

I would say the best part of this place is the fact that its 24 Hours and has a full bar.  So, if you happen to get there around 2:30am, just eat for few hours and then start drinking at 6am or whenever they start serving again....6am is standard, right?

"Always order a cup of coffee just in case you need to use it as a weapon."

These are my first thoughts upon sitting down and scanning the area for desperate people. This IS Beverly and Western after all, and it IS 1:30am. But then I'm feeling a little desperate myself - the gnawing hunger in my stomach is making me feel edgy, and the alcohol is beginning to wear off. But first things first...

I really need to use the facilities. (Just close your eyes for this part) If you ever want to know what it might be like to be Jack Nicholson in "The Shining" then take a whiz in this bathroom. The washbasin is a veined marble bowl suspended in a twisted cast iron structure that looks like it might come alive any second. The stalls are made from dark stained wood, and the toilets look like they haven't been changed since 1920, even though the place was established in 1964. Gay melodies with muted trumpets and crooning vocals are piped in - the music somehow remaining untarnished and un-aged in this environment. Still this "The Shining" vibe is too much for me.

Cut to the booth.

As I sit here waiting for my breakfast burrito, I notice that the music has followed me. The waiter keeps the old school theme with a starched white shirt, thick rimmed glasses, and greased hair. His service is amazing. He's keeping my coffee constantly topped off as well as my water. This environment is really relaxing.

Let's peruse this menu. Interesting, towards the back are full on entrees ranging from $15 to over $20. Steak, fish, and chicken dinners abound on the back pages, and then of course there is breakfast, and a bar with alcohol. Bibim noodles? Asian Dennys my ass. This place blows Denny's off the map. And it's even open 24 hours a day. Full menu, anytime.

Well, here it is. A large breakfast burrito filled with hashbrowns, sausage, grilled peppers, and the like, it's huge, hot, and split in half for me. Man, this thing is delicious. I really like this place. I've had the pancakes here before, and they are large, fluffy, and affordable.

As I glance around, I notice suits of armor, and mounted family crests. Hmmmm, I don't get it. Doris Day, and knights of the round table? Throw in the large anachronistic flat screen, and things get confusing. But, it's 2am, this could be a dream, and now I'm stuffed.

Do you think they'll care if I just take a nap for a quick minute? Maybe just a few sec - ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz

An enthusiastic three...for what it's worth.

I came here a bit ago with Yelp's much beloved (haha!) Scott K. for some post-drinking face stuffing. He got a breakfast combo I tried to avoid looking at, for the overwhelming presence of runny eggs (see previous reviews for my thoughts on the nausea-inducing orbs of evil) and I ordered a salad and grilled cheese sandwich that despite causing me to sing a little ditty about in semi-drunken glee, was pretty much boxed up uneaten because the idea of waking up with both a cottonmouth tinged with the lingering taste of sour mix and a stomach full of undigested food does not appeal. Needless to say, I'm not a late-night diner regular and prefer my sugar induced hangovers untainted in their vigor to keep me, my wallet and my belly in check...

But I liked the place. Outfitted like a serious restaurant, in dark colors and waiters in black vests and crisp white shirts, you'd almost take it for a one rather than the diner it is, if not for the only seating being a row of booths against the wall and a line of bar stools at the counter with the standard kitchen view. It was nearly empty around midnight, perfect for allowing Mr. K and I to sling our typical loving array of insults back and forth without fear of disturbing other diners with our dysfunction.

Our waiter certainly didn't mind; he kept risking getting hit by a stray fist to refill our coffee cups and was thoughtful and attentive enough to wait until they were empty as to not fuck up the sugar and milk to coffee ratios. That, and that overhearing us discuss some sushi restaurant, he piped in talking about how much he liked that place and started giving us suggestions, won me over. I loved this dude, he was awesome. Kudos to Mr. K for giving him a 30% tip and thanks for buying me second dinner, even if I didn't actually eat it.

I damn near wrecked my car when I drove by and saw a sign reading 24 hour breakfast for $4.99 a block from my house!

Came her on a random weekday and got the special which is french toast, eggs, bacon etc for $5

Seeing as to how I had this exact same meal at IHOP the week before for twice the price, this was a great improvement.

The food wasn't amazing but it was safe and predictable which is all I expect from a $5 meal.

The place is actually quite nice. It's a good quiet place to meet someone for breakfast.

Another perk is free parking in the back.

Choices are limited at 3 am, but Piper's turned out to be better than any other late-night dinner. I had the guacamole burger, and my friends had the piper's club and the mushroom swiss burger. The food was as good as the atmosphere. The place looks like I should have spent $20 on somethat cost me half as much, which is always great. :)

The only complaint I would ave is that the food took forever, but that's just because we came at the tail end of the rush from the clubbers getting out. The food was worth the wait, but I really wasn't planning on getting home at 4:30 am.

I got lucky on this one. Heading out of LA for the weekend, I used my GPS to look for a restaurant for breakfast. Based on the name alone, we got off the freeway and found Pipers.

They have all sorts of hearty American breakfasts. It's 24 hours, so try this place next time you're thinking about Denny's.

The food was absolutely disgusting. I remember one of us got a pasta plate and the other got steak.

The pasta tasted like it came from a can- ready made. It was also so watered down it was mushy and tasteless.

The steak smelled old and had a weird color/texture to it.

I really thought this place would have been much better - especially considering the prices.

I will never EVER go here again.

I recently visited Piper's after a long drink infused night of dancing with friends. Pipers is pretty one of a kind and you can tell just when you walk into their waiting area. It's like the Excalibur meets IHOP in Ktwon. They serve breakfast, sandwiches, and a lot of other stuff I can't remember. I ordered the BLTA and it was devine. However, the service was lame, the water tasted odd, and the wait for our food was looooong. Perhaps this was because it was 3 am on Monday morning. Who knows? If I could give 3.5 I would. I will give Pipers another chance, but I won't go out of my way to come here.

Blech. I got the King's Breakfast, which is scrambled eggs with tomatoes, mushrooms, and green bell peppers. It tasted like a foot and smelled like an armpit. Seriously, it was awful.

I really wanted to like this place, but they made it impossible. The bowl of sugar packets had dried food splatter all over it. I had to wipe off the booth before sitting down. My stomach is turning just thinking about it. Don't do it.

It's a diner, that has random korean food, and is sort of medieval themed.

Yes that is really weird. And whats weirder is that it's actually pretty nice inside there.

I got the breakfast burrito and it came with fruit and it was pretty awesome, my meat of choice, bacon. The burrito was really heavy though and halfway through i was pretty full which really says something.
the waiter was really friendly but i'm pretty sure he added up our checks wrong and he took like 20 minutes to pick up our bill.
the coffee sucks though, and i'm really not picky about coffee.

still it's open 24 hours, and the burrito was good so i'll probably go back

I went here with Yelpers after Blue Goose Lounge last night......er.....this morning, around 3am.
All I ate was a sprig of parsley stolen from Chris B.'s plate, wasn't hungry.  So I am reviewing the coffee, which was exceptionally good.  I drank 3 cups (resulting in an almost sleepless night......er....morning, when I finally got home after 5am).  I did not expect to find 5-star coffee in a 24/7 restaurant.  Open round-the-clock is another reason for the 4 stars.....hungry people need a place to go in the middle of the night! Especially great is the fact that Pipers is so close to BGL, and in the direction I take to go home, even better.
Everybody's food looked pretty darn good and maybe next time I will indulge in a pancake.  Our service seemed to be OK, too.  Our server sure did refill my coffee cup.

I saved the best for last:  we discovered a fortune cookie machine as we were leaving the restaurant!  How cool was that thing??!!!  It's inside the front door.  It's like a gumball machine except it dispenses fortune cookies encased in plastic containers.  Why did I not think to get one?!  We all admired the machine and posed for photos around it, and I got no fortune......so, as the saying goes:
The past is history, my future's a mystery, and today is a gift.  That's why they call it the "present".....
(corny, I need sleep)

Great for 24/7 late night noshing, open holidays as well.  I had the pancakes, with eggs and fresh fruit instead of the bacon or sausage.  The pancake are thick, slight chewy and pretty good.  Also tried the french toast.  Breakfasts are served on these huge platters, $7 - see pic. The waitress was pretty good at the start and then rather distracted later, after taking our order.  This is a big restaurant with what looks to be a full bar. There is also a flat screen tv.

Located on the east side of Western, just south of Beverly in a large dark grey building. It's a lot better than, say a Denny's. As the previous reviewer said, this restaurant is better than you might expect to find in this area.  No wait for a booth, street parking.  A new addition to my late night food list, thanks to Doug D. for the recommendation.  Three and half stars rounded up for the huge breakfasts, convenience, menu variety, and it's open 24 hours.

Pipers is like the old diner you see in every mob-flick.  it was nearing 3am and i was drained as hell from too much norebang with the BGL crew and the combo-nitecap of swigs off nighttrain (thx eric!) mixed with two shots of some concoction Doug whipped up...TIIIIIIIIIIRRREED!

i ordered some breakfast burrito that was at a fair price, but it was pretty bland and mealy.  the coffee was on-point and the waiter did a great job of attempting to keep me awake with a refill everytime i woke up from a light doze.

prices are about right for the kinda late night joint it is.  loved that ESPN was on the flatscreens-- SF rep'd HARD tho we didn't continue partyin with LA yelp in K-town till sunrise...okay, so you ask how ??

Aaron I eating at the table with his shirt off...
Eric W starting a food fight..
and of course me frontal flashing the table.

ahhh euge woulda been proud.

This place is alright...it's practically a relic of 50's n' 60's L.A., with a Extreme Makeup face lift !

The place is nice, the ambiance is cool and you definitely know they'll be open when you're done with poisoning your liver...uh..for some of us. Any how, the place has a nice vibe to it and the front booths give you ultra privacy...somewhat...NAW..scratch that...you're sitting by the entrance so everyone that passes by, drops in on your action!

The first time I came here, I was forearm locked into getting the Breakfast Burrito by Big Azz Kevin...that's a big dude! It went like this..

me...cracks menu...hmm what should..
BIG AZZ Kevin...GET BURRITO !
me...huh? yeah...sounds tempting but I grew up on breakf..
BA Kevin...BREAKFAST BURRITO !....w/ salsa...
me...yeah but I'm kinda picky abo...
BA Kevin...I SAID...
me...waiter...i'll have the breakfast burrito....w/ salsa.

Man, I love you Kevin, but the burrito was OK...kept me busy, thinking what was inside the whole time...is that bacon or pastrami?

Yeah, but good times...no harm, no foul...I even went back again w/ a bunch of yelpers after Dfury Tim Bday Celebration at the BGL. Went a little better...except for that snafu about getting seated back by the cleaning closet on one side of the booth and the broken fish fridge on the other side of the booth...sounds scary, huh...yeah it was that bad...we kicked rocks and moved to the other long booth toward the front of the restaurant...prolly won't sit back there again...well maybe during lent, so I could pay some kind of penance!

But this place is cool and you'll probably find me here again, just to avoid all those kids at the local Denny's and what not. I hear Doug's wife works here...but don't tell him the Kfsy told me...

Things were fuzzy but I'm pretty sure this was an Asian upscale Denny's. I remember the following:

- My eggs and hashbrowns were yummy.
- BUT.. they are more expensive than Denny's.
- Mia and I both agreeing that the sausages were too damn small.
- For some reason, the waiter wouldn't get her tea? wtf. am i remembering wrong?
- They took damn long to run my credit card.
- For a late night diner, this was way classier than Denny's. I mean, it didn't make my panties drop but it could be impressive to some.
- yelpers : )

That's all.

UPDATE:

WTF?! They ran my credit card TWICE for two different amounts. I'm not a hater. It's still a 3 star but may go lower unless they get this resolved.

I hit up this spot with some Yelp friends after closing the Blue Goose Lounge last night.  It was quite good - way better than Denny's - and inexpensive too.  The massive breakfast platter was tasty and really hit the spot.  Thick, crispy bacon...eggs cooked perfectly...and a huge stack of thick, alcohol-absorbing pancakes.  You know it's a big stack when I can't finish it...'cause people, I can seriously mow through some pancakes.

I can't tell you much more about the place, except that I highly recommend it to anyone craving a hearty meal at some absurd hour when sensible people are asleep.

Love the Pipers. Just good ole diner grub. They have meatloaf, country fried steaks, liver & onions, and Korean BBQ. Now I do belive its korean owned, but the korean bbq isnt that good. Everything else is tasty. Their menu boasts ""29 Spices" in the meatloaf. Those 29 spices do work well together, the meatloaf isnt bland or overly seasoned. If you have some older taste buds, get the Liver & Onions. It's good. It can compare to all the chain diners with ease. The dining room actually has a very nice feel to it. The interior of the restaurant has more of a fine dining touch than a diner. CAUTION: The portions are huge! You might want to prepare not being able to move once you try leaving. You might want to store a wheelchair in the trunk of your c.

The food is just okay.  But why am I giving it four stars?  Because it's one of the few 24 hour joints in LA, the service is FANTASTIC, and overall it's just a good, comfortable place to be at 3 in the morning, especially if you're a night owl like me.  Way better than Denny's or any other 24-hour diners in the area.  I go to Pipers once in a while when I need to get some drawing done.  I usually order coffee and some kind of dessert and I just sit there for hours, working on my drawings.  The servers are REALLY nice and friendly.  Their decor is pretty random--they have this whole medieval theme going on for some reason.  I was pretty amused by it the first time I went to Pipers.

Overall, very very comfortable place with friendly people and decent food... and it's open all day and all night!

This place is nice and all... as in for the interiors. It's the food that really let me down.

I didn't really know that this place existed in the NW side of K-town until our man Doug D. suggested we come here for pancakes and eggs. We could have gone and settle for crappy food from Denny's and such. If you factored in that it's 2:30 in the morning, the options are limited, so we gladly took the suggestion from Doug.

Walking in to the place, we were shocked that there are two knight's armor suit standing in guard of the front entrance. The ladies have fun posing pictures with this touristy get up. The interior and seatings are actually very upscale for a 24 hour diner. Someone suggested that it reminds them of Pacific Dining Car. I don't know how that would compared since I never been to PDC.

The menu selections are pretty standard fare of Traditional American comfort food with breakfast are in the realms of pancakes, sausages, omelets, and eggs. Some of our group ordered waffles, to breakfast burritos, to standard toast and eggs.

I know it's 3 in the morning, but the service can sometimes be uninspiring with lack of attention. It looked they need more sleep than the party goers. They never got my water nor do they have the energy to check on us as some of us who wanted to order some other drinks.

I was one of the very last one to arrive to our table...yet I was able to get my food ahead of three people. Which got me thinking about why my order was so fast. I ordered a King's breakfast which consist of omelet style egg with peppers and onions. Sausages and bacon with white toast goes along with it. Plus a side of Hash browns.

One of our dining group had ordered a simple order of egg with hash browns. She got her items 5 minutes after me. I noticed a big difference. My items were cold while her eggs were freshly hot. I don't know if they made abundance of King's Breakfast and decided to churn my plate out faster, but it just seemed like my order was too quickly made with everything being cold. (Especially the Hash Browns and bacon).

It took way too long for our checks to come out and the disappearing act was bothersome when we need to go and only to find out they didn't ran the credit card to let us sign the credit card receipt so that we can get going.

The food was bleh for me. The service was uneven throughout the night. Plus we have to endure the waiting game. It's a nice place and a more upscale than Denny's. Even the price was a tad higher than Denny's. We just expected a little bit more than this.

Then again at 2am...where can you really go? Alas, we were at their mercy!

Oh, they do validate for their private parking lot as they have a parking lot booth during lunch and dinner time. No need for validation at early morning as they do not have parking attendants.

Diner food done right. More expensive than chains like IHOP but worth the upgrade. Big portions. They even have an asian selection to accompany it, though I've never tried any of the noodle, etc. dishes.

Inside, it feels like you're in a Vegas casino restaurant, but in a good way.

Not a 24 hour joint, though people think it is, so be careful you don't come when it is closed.

So I'm on a trend of giving eating establishments an extra star because:
1) Its open
2) ample parking
3) I didnt want to BS around
4) I'm hungry
5) Doug E Fresh recommends it
6) Sam said it was a asian brothel

Well, maybe forget the last one but we came here after a wtfh night at bgl. Hungry and tired, rolled in here quick with the bgl entourage and ate like kings. Omelet was in order for me and it wasn't bad and portions were of decent size. Nothing to woo woo over but its filler food and it did its job. Decor is really nice here but from the outside, its hard to tell if this place is open or closed. Lots of dark wood decor with a modernesque feel for it. Extra star here also because Mr. Doug E Fresh took care of our tab and made us go back to sing karaoke at 4am.....as I sat up from a dream, I saw Mike L passed out on the sofa alongside with Sam and Tim C.....time to go and draw the curtains, this night is done.

First, If peeps that really know me, I'm a hardcore breakfast kind of guy. So if your business opens up til really late and serve breakfast all day, i'll give props no matter how bad or shitty or ghetto the place is.

Piper's surprised me in every way. I thought this was a Korean BBQ place. I thought it was close at the we rolled in. I thought it could be a whorehouse, it was dark from the outside, curtains all close up and parkings only in the back. I thought it was a lounge or bar.

It was a realy late night after BGL, and Doug reccomended me and to the rest of the crew bout Piper's. Place was decent, cool, cheap like Denny's and has the different vibe from IHOPS. We got to the table, sat down and about to place our order, one of the funniest things I ever witnessed up close live. Bare in mind, the crew at my table (Mia, Roman, Ronnie, Chris and I) could barely understand what he as saying.

Waitor: Can I take you order?
Mia: Yes, I would like the omelet with sausage please.
Waitor: Okay, Omelet.
Mia: and with Sausage PLEASE.
Waitor: Just Omelet with Bacon.
Mia: No Bacon, but sausage.
Waitor: Okay, so Omelet with Sausage

This whole time, it took about 6 minutes for the waitor to finally understand what Mia wanted for her breakfast. All she wanted was just omelet with sausage. It was crazy hilarious, the whole time I couldnt even understand what he was saying, but he was acting like Mia was the one who was not speaking clearly, and he had the annoyed look. To kill another awkward situation between me and the waitor, I didn't even want to mine confusing and all I asked was just pancakes, nothing else.

However, the pancakes werent that great, but the french toast and waffles sure do look great. I will probably come back again after another drunken night to sober up. Thumbs up for the 24 hour service!! Major props.

Oh and another hilarious site I saw at this event, was seeing Doug eating his salad with chopsticks. See, that was classic. It was a priceless moment....Should we also a Kodak moment?

Piper's left me sorely disappointed.  We went there for breakfast and the service was bad and the food wasn't much better.

Our waiter seemed very disinterested in our table. He didn't refill our waters or coffee, didn't ask us how we were doing and didn't bring us an orange juice we ordered. When I flagged him down to ask for these things he appeared to get annoyed at us. We were also overcharged on our check and I had to have him correct it.

I ordered their signature egg scramble breakfast, which you would assume would be a relatively good dish, but was very disappointed when it came out. My eggs were almost cold and covered in big hunks of unmelted cheddar cheese, the hash browns were undercooked and very unevenly cut, and the entire plate looked like a mess, as if the cook had just slopped everything on there without a second thought. Who serves food like that? Is this a jailhouse cafeteria? Wtf?

One good thing I can say about Piper's though is I really like it's atmosphere. It has a nice, long dark wood bar and all the booths are dark wood, so it gives off the feeling of an "Old Hollywood" type of establishment which I find very appealing.

If the food and the service wouldn't have been so bad I would definitely go back. As it is I'll just leave it to the senior citizens who seem to enjoy it so much.

A pre-great white flight relic, who's wings were obviously clipped.

As soon as you walk into this place, you realize immediately that it's not a typical restaurant for north Korea-town.  The words "since 1964" are emblazoned on the cover of Piper's menu--I surely believe the claim.

The fare is that of an upper class Denny's, and the decor is actually very classy.  I can bet you that choices like Udon, ramen, and Korean-style pork were not on the menu back in 1964.  I'm going to guess that these menu items were probably added in the 80s--and for good reason as most of the clientele are Korean.

My visit to Piper's gave me a sense of what it must be like for a Chinese person to walk into a Chinese restaurant that sits amid an all white neighborhood.

Decent eats; nothing to write home about; good prices; open 24 hours.

I like going to this place for breakfast or at any hour (it's open 24 hours).  The prices are cheaper than Denny's and the portions are huge.  Food is pretty decent but not bad.

And this restaurant has an "A" now.  It used to be a "B" before.  And yeah, like another reviewer said, they did hide it behind a bush.  I didn't see the "B" until I already ate and left.
