Review from Amy E.
Fort Myers, FL
After living in Brookline for four years, I got spoiled with Pino's. Every pizza joint I frequent gets the Pino's comparison, and odds are, nothing even comes close to this place.
The thin crust is not too thin, but not too thick either. It is a hearty lean that still leaves you feeling full. As far as texture with the crust goes, it's not that gooey "too much crust, not enough flavour and substance" feel.
Although I was around through some price changes (the #1 - 2 slices of cheese with a fountain drink was $5.25 my first year in the area. Over the years it went to $6), I will always go back here when I find myself near or on the C line.
It's easy, it's quick, and it's convenient. My weekly stops into this restaurant alway included a pie and a salad at night (with plenty left over for the next day) and I always left fully satisified.
Definately a recommendation for anyone perusing the Brookline / Brighton area and into Boston! With all the college kids around, I would highly suggest a stop into Pino's for a quick bite! -
Review from Coren D.
Pino's Pizza is the best in Brookline. I keep trying new places, but nothing can compare to the quality of Pino's. The service is fast. Pizzas are made to order and ready to pick up in about 15 minutes. My favorite is the Sicilian: dense thick crust with a crisp base and tender interior. The sauce is tangy, but not too sweet. The pizza isn't weighed down with a slippery layer of cheese. Each bite gives you a taste of every layer. A whole Sicilian pie with two toppings only set me back 19 bucks! Twelve delicious hot slices, easily enough to feed a family of four (or a really hungry three). My favorite topping is sausage, because it is made from real sliced Italian links, not pre-made frozen sausage niblets like many other places. Pizza is also available by the slice for $2.50, if you're eating solo. Regular slices are wide and floppy, but not greasy or slimy. It is a New York-ish pizza, but take note. This is not New York pizza. It's Brookline. Not a bad thing, but definitely not the same.
Pino's is conveniently located in Cleveland Circle, next door to Eagle's Deli and across the street from the C-line and D-line. Tip: the liquor store two doors down is a great place to pick up a six pack while waiting for your order. -

I recently took my son here. I used to live up the hill and went there quite often. The curst is truly NY style, and just as good.
I grew up 30 min from the City, though NY style can be found over a 70 mile radius of the actual city. It is also different enough from New Haven Pizza (sally's and Pepe's etc) -

Classic Italien Pizza ! I always get plain cheese because the flavor is so pure
I eat it in the car or the second I get home ....i just can't wait !
There's equally good in the North end but the authentic and Very friendly Italien main characters at pinos are the best !
i always leave with a smile dreaming of my next slice ! -

Pino. Presto. Pino? Presto? Seemed the same to me, but Davel brought me here and we finished our excursion as to which pizza place was better. The light here, was definitely much brighter and the environment seemed friendlier and more welcoming (maybe it was just newer). We also got the special; 2 pepperoni and a fountain Mountain Dew. The pizza here was much more crispier and yummier in Davel's opinion and I suppose mine too. If I had to go back to Pino's or Presto's to try things other than the pizza, I'd choose Pino's.

The skinny: 3 star pizza. 3 star price.
The dip: came for a quick lunch since i heard good things and was in the area. Two slices of cheese and a 16 oz or so pop cost$ 6. The pizza portion was pretty good. Each slice was maybe 6 inches on the crust curve and probably 10-12 inches long. So they didn't cheap out on the size. The flavor and texture was only average though. It wasn't particularly tasty but nothing bad. Crust was plain and good texture but nothing memorable. A little grease but not excessive. So overall really it was fine but nothing worth going out of the way to get.
The staff is nice and they heated the pizza well when i ordered it to go.
So nothing bad nothing special. I've seen cheaper i've seen more expensive. Solid 3 stars. -

This place does not live up to what's been written here. I just ordered my first pie from Pino's tonight and I can't even take another bite. I seriously had to put it back in the box. A Celeste frozen pizza has more flavor than what I just tried to eat. Thank God I had toppings put on it. I can't imagine what the plain cheese tastes like. $20 for a 3-topping? It came cold with flavorless sauce and congealed cheese.
Very unfortunate. So much for straying off the path. There is no good pizza in Brookline. -
Review from Kelsey F.
Living right down the street from Pino's I thought it was about time to try it out. The roommates and I ordered delivery last night - a large regular cheese pizza with mushrooms, onions, and peppers.
It was soo good! The toppings tasted fresh, crust was just cripy enough, and it was just cheesy enough, and not greasy!
Granted I honestly don't eat pizza that often (sober at least) but I think Pinos deserves all 5 stars! -

Absolutely delicious Margherita pizza (it's called the Amalfi) with fresh tomatoes, basil and mozarrella on a great flat crust - super crispy. Their sicillian pizza is thick and doughy and delicious as well - totally worth it!

My friend swore to me Pino's had the best pizza ever. He's close, but I've definitely had better. Not to knock Pino's, they definitely have a winning formula. The sauce is really good and has a hint of sweetness. The slices are pretty big and the crust is actually crispy. There aren't many places that can bake a crispy crust without overcooking it. Definitely worth checking out!

Four stars are ONLY for the Sicilian pizza, which is to die for most times.
The regular pie sucks most nights. The crust is dry, the cheese seems cheap, and the toppings don't seem quality. And they overcook the regular pizzas pretty often.
On the other hand, the Sicilian is amazing. I don't get how they can do this so right and a regular pizza so wrong. The cheese, if the same as the regular pie, works here. The sauce is delicious and the crust is right on. There have been a few times when they have overcooked the Sicilian, but, for the most part, it's pretty great. -

Best Pizza I've had in Boston so far. I'm not a fan of their other stuff, but the pizza alone is worth the 4 stars. The place itself isn't that nice, but ti doesn't need to be; It's really one of those pizza on the go places. If you are Cleveland Circle, you need to get the Pizza here.

The pizza was on the bland side for me. I know people in the area rave about this place but I was unimpressed. I've had much better and probably won't give them a second chance.

Review from Susan K.
People have told me that Pino's had awesome pizza and living literally a block from there and walking by it almost everyday, I'd figure I try it.
It was awesome. It has been a very long time since I had pizza as good as Pino's. I'm a fan of big slices but thin enough to fold in half and eat it that way. Pino's slices were perfect for that. Right amount of cheese and not too greasy like some pizza I've tried. Love pizza that's been cooled down and reheated, and this place does it!
Place is old school but that's what make it a quality pizza place. Staff is friendly and they definitely look like they know how to run a pizza place. This place will definitely be a place I'll come back to when I'm in the mood for quality pizza. -

Brighton, MA
It may look like it belongs on a cheesy north shore beach somewhere, but what it lacks in visual awesomeness it makes up for in taste bud delighting.
The staff is old school and will probably make fun of you if you deserve it, but that's part of the fun. The Sicilian pizza is amazing. If you are out in the Cleveland Circle area and have a long T ride ahead of you, grab a slice and you may actually enjoy the trip. -

I wish I could give it 0 stars! Do not order from here unless you like car board pizza! I was very disappointed with this place! We ordered meat lovers pizza and it was loaded with sausage. The pizza was very hard. I just threw the pizza away full of disappointment.

Pino's Sicilian pizza is absolutely delicious 4 out of every 5 times I order it. Crispy/crunchy crust, not-too-sweet sauce, loads of cheese... I love it with tomatoes on top (and hoorah for a place that uses chopped, not sliced!).
HOWEVER... the remaining 1 out of 5 times knocks them down two stars. Every now and then when we get their pizza, the crust has these funny blue spots on the bottom... I swear they look like mold, but BF disagrees and says they look like they're marks from the oven, so who knows... I usually just cut them off and try to enjoy the rest of the pizza. But it still makes me a little wary, and is why I've recently taken to pushing for Presto's instead. -

As a native New Yorker, I tend to wrinkle my nose at any Boston pizza establishments.
However, Pino's is the best option in the Brighton area when my pizza cravings get the best of me. Regular pizza is passable, but the sicilian pizza is very good.
Good service and low prices make this place a solid 4-stars -

Pino's is AWESOME for pizza if you're in the Brighton area. Their meaty pizzas are the best, but sometimes (rarely) they get a little soggy.

After experimenting with other pizza joints, Pino's is the only place I keep calling back. They're sauce is a little on the salty side but that is their only downfall. Pino's has quick delivery and is fairly inexpensive.

i have eaten A LOT of pizza in my days and Pino's is definitely one of the best I have ever had! Even when I get delivery it is always hot and fresh tasting. I don't normally stray away from the cheese pizza but their onions are amazing (they might be sauteed or something?). Anyhow, you will not be disappointed!
oh and just a note - I have only had their regular pizza, not the sicilian (which I heard isn't all that great?) so stick with the regular pies! -

When hanging out in Brookline at 12:30 AM... after a couple glasses of wine and about 6 back-to-back episodes of Lost Season 4... The munchies set in.
Much like the majority of Boston (minus a few food-serving bars, and a few joints in Chinatown), Brookline is lifeless and closed... And all we need is a damn pizza to hold us through the next four episodes...
So we walked... Coolidge Corner... Cleveland Circle... and then... there it was. Our beacon of hope in the seemingly hopeless and hungry night... Pino's.
Packed with teenagers and young college students, Pino's had our pizza pie ready in under a half hour, despite the crowd. And it was pretty damn good pizza too!
We got the pizza home, had our late night feast, and watched some more lost...
then the dog got up on the counter and ate the other half.Listed in: The Go-Go Guide for Outlanders, The Man Hunt

I've gotta admit, my cheesey idea to pit Pino vs Presto came from a Sunday viewing of the Phantom Gourmet. Yeah, the Andelman Brothers are annoying, and yeah, I rarely agree with the phantom's reviews, but whatever, this is how i spend my hungover Sunday mornings with my girlfriend. So effectively this yelp is a product of Fat Kid See, Fat Kid Do. Who's pizza king of Cleveland Circle? My unbiased tastebuds at yo' service..
The test: To keep the environment as controlled as possibleI had a slice of cheese pizza from both Pino and Presto. My wonderful assistant (read tolerant girlfriend) went in and bought slices and then put one of each in both boxes so I wouldn't know which was which. This is serious business... Amed with napkins swiped from Boloco and a can of Pepsi, we walked over to the park to begin the 'testing'. My method was pretty simple.... I took three bites of each, 2 from the cheesey part, and then one at the crust, and then a big gulp of soda; this was then repeated for the other slice in order to insure that both were sampled before they cooled off (It was windy out!).
Please note: The evaluation will be on the SSCCCG Scale (Yeah, I just came up with this): Size, Sauce, Crust: Edge and Crust: Pie wedge, Cost, Cheese, and finally, the Greasey Factor
So now that it's clear that I have no life (which by in large is true) here are the results.... Noting that Size and Slice are negated as both were equally cheap and generous in size.
Slice 1:
Sauce - Good, but a bit sweet; did not taste homemade, but unique
Crust: Edge - Soft in the middle but slight flakeiness, and a touch of cheweyness in the good way. Light flavor with a hint of sweetness.
Crust: Pie wedge - Thin, flakey, but thick enough to maintain structural integrity for consumption.
Cheese: High quality; light white in color and remains adhered to the slice very well though it is cheesey and stringy in consistancy.
Greasey Factor: Minimal Greezeynesss; a lighter slice to be sure.
Slice 2:
Sauce: Heavier more authentic tasting spicey sauce; dark red and thick-ish consistancy
Crust: Edge: Crispy with slightly tough chew to it; dark and "crusty/crunchy".
Crust: Pie wedge: Medium/Thin, slighly chewey, good structural integrity
Cheese: cooked longer and thus darker in appearance; stronger and heavier cheese that is bit through, not pulled apart.
Greasey Factor; not overtly greazzzey, but def. oily as a result of the heavier cheese combo used for this recipe.
Evaluation: I'm at a loss here; even after 2 days of reflection, I haven't been able to make a clear cut decision on the "SUPERIOR SLICE" competition of 2008. I feel like I'm being forced to compare and choose btw Manny and Big Papi.... One's a sure fire hall of famer- the other a clutch hero. How can you promote one with out discounting the other...This may be the most retarded quasi-competition/comparison I've ever partaken in...
A few thoughts....
Slice 1: This is the best pizza crust I think I've ever tasted. Chewey, but light and flakey. A doughy flavor with a touch of flower and sweetness to it. It's honestly close to being the deal breaker it's so good... BUT, there's a but... The sauce, is really borderline sub-par. Color was almost orangy and sweet, and really thin in consistancy. This wasn't noted in most bites as its masked by the cheese, but when getting close to the crust and you get a full sauce bite with no cheese... it was really notable. If you weren't doing a side by side comparison it wouldn't be so glaring, but when directly compared? Not even close to slice 2 sauce-wise.
Slice 2: a heavier pizza; more similar to Regina's (Please note that this is not necessarily representative of a good thing), but not as cheesey and greezy. The sauce here is superior; spicey and a bit more intricate with a deeper, richer color. And the greasiness is at a good level- you can taste and see the grease, but you don't feel like a pimple faced teenager when you're done. The crust here is ok, but nothing memorable; the cheese is better, but not astounding in any way.
So which was which? Slice One, and my day time sober cheese slice selection: PRESTO!
Despite the subpar sauce, the crust here was almost the best I've ever had; essentially it was like Ernesto's (my vote for best pizza in the city) but with bad sauce. A final thought: If I was craving pizza at 2am after pounding 30 beers at a Tailgate or one of hte local watering holes, I think i'd prefer the take at Pino's. It's heavier and more satisfying to the fat kids tummy factor. That and the fact that Pino's vintage blinking sign would be really entertaining when you are wasted. Although the random tree growing inside Presto's is pretty cool too. The debate continues....
OK, thats the worlds longest review. If you read all of it, I'm truly sorry. -

I lived in Boston for a year and a half, and found this gem of a pizzaria about a month before I moved to California. They have some of the best NY style pizza I've tasted.
I also bought a cool retro-looking Pino's shirt for about six bucks. What a deal.
Highly recommended! -

There are times when, through coercion, bribery, or good ol fashion alcohol, I can be convinced to climb down off my incredibly high paleo horse and eat wheat.
Now, it still takes a lot. . .I have to think that my life's experience will be improved by tasting said wheat-bearing product, and without knowing it that's EXACTLY how Joe L. presented me with the idea of going to pino's for a Sicilian slice.

Best slice in New England.
There really is nothing more to say except, why four stars?
Because I got the last Sicilian, and had to get a regular slice to fill up the remaining 5 buck CC minimum and the regular slice was pretty sub par.

Oh Pinos.
You have put me in a very awkward position. You know I was always a Presto's man. Then you had to go and seduce me with your delicious sausage pizza.
You know I love the sausage!
Same price as Presto but the restaurant itself is a lot nicer and low and behold, the staff are actually friendly!! -

Found out about Pino's Pizza in Coolidge Corner (Oopsie, was told that it's Cleveland Circle) from this website. It was fantastic! I ordered a large cheese, tomato and italian sausage pizza over the phone for takeout, and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. This was at noon on a Saturday. The dough wasn't greasy, or too corn meal-y on the bottom. The sausage wasn't what I expected. It was sliced sausages. Guess i've always gotten sausage crumbles before.
Be sure to have your own parmesan cheese and/or red pepper flakes since I was told they don't have any for take out.
Oh, yeah, I ate half the pizza in one sitting. -

I daydream of this place all the time. Everytime I come back to Boston from the SF Bay area, I try to grab some Pino's.
The sparkly lit sign outside is only the start of being bedazzled- the Sicilian style pizza is to die for! The inside is a little old school, but in a good, authentic way. -

Best pizza ever. Hands down. I used to live around the corner and would go there 2-3 times a week. Now I live about 10 min away but can still get delivery! When I did live super close, I would have to walk PAST Presto's to get my Pino's.

Oh Sicilian slice of heaven, come to mama.
Seriously, the Sicilian pie at Pino's is so frickin good! Or maybe it's just because I only went there the first year I lived in Boston, which meant I was a) drunk b) high c) both or d) hungover.
Haven't been back in years, but lately I've been craving it. Might need to head out on the ghastly B line to indulge once again. -

Reliably good pizza. Great for a slice or for a pasta combo dish (I cannot count the times I would eat half an eggplant parm dish, leave it out over night and tackle the rest at 2am). The salad here is pretty good as well - basic but does the trick.
I would def reccomend this place if you are in the area and need a pizza fix. The pizza is a better value than the pasta dishes, but still very reasonably priced.Listed in: with my mind on my money

I'm from New York (don't panic, I'm not a Yankees fan) and this is the closest thing to 'real' NY pizza I've found in New England.
My roommate, who also hails from the NY metro, but has lived in Boston for 10 years, comes here when he wants the New York experience.

i was raised in brookline and everyone knows it's the only place to go eat cheap pizza. Not only that they're open late night, they deliver, the people who work there are super friendly (they use to buy lollipops for my fundraiser)and the loaction convienent. if it's late you're waiting for the train across the street, where better than to go to pinos grab some hot chocolate and wait?
I'm not going to lie tho, there was one time when i think they reheated the pizza and the crust was so hard i bit into and it like cut the roof of my mouth (a few friends have had similar experiences)
Althought this has has not deterred me, granted I haven't been as enthusiastic to go back there and i now check the softness of the crust. I have to recommend this place because all in all it's pinos. -

We usually order pizza delivery - very prompt and reliable. We usually order a large pizza with spinach and broccoli or with mushrooms and sausage. They use a moderate amount of red sauce and cheese. The crust is firm with some bite, but not too crunchy. Overall one of the best pizzas in the area.

Their steak and cheese actually has steak in it
Even though it might cost a little extra, but they use all fresh ingredients and everything they make is very very fresh!
