This is still Pink Godzilla to me darn it. Nice selection of video games and retro toys. Fighting gamers will love this place almost as much as the Dreamcast fans. Games can be a bit more expensive than you can get them. It defeats the purpose of this store for some people, when a rare game can be purchased online cheaper with shipping.

Now the workers here are pretty knowledgeable. When my cousin and I entered the store alone one of the cashiers passed the time by cooking up a conversation with us. It morphed into the very famous Taidus/Teedus conversation. Then again, there's something that really bugs many people. A different cashier once engaged in a somewhat long conversation with one of her friends. A pretty simple no-no from me as there were people in line. It's happened more than once, but I'm still happy when I leave this place.

Pink Gorilla (we all know it is really Pink Godzilla) is a gamer staple here.  The single best independent brick and mortar game store in Seattle, Pink offers a wide variety of old school games in old school formats.  Moreover, this is the place to go to pick up an old NES or SNES import.

And of course a big part of what makes this store awesome is the feel... literally the place is covered in cotton candy pink shag.

The store sure does get tightly packed with patrons buying games, video game related merch, or the classic pink Gorilla (Godzilla) plushy.  In fact, Pink Gorilla (Godzilla) is what I imagine it would be like to live within a Geeky Muppet. (pause imagine gamer muppet lolz)

The place is awesome if you want to look at and purchase older games irl, moreover it is a fun stop while hanging out in the international district.

I have a problem.

I love importing games. I hate waiting for shipping. I used to go to Kicks in Northgate, but now that I live in Redmond the trek is out of my reach. Luckily for me, Pink Godzilla exists just a 545 away from my apartment.

From the cute happy pink logo to the chaotic-but-awesome storefront, I can generally find whatever imported game is currently tickling my fancy, without the shipping delays I'd have to suffer ordering through the intrawebz.... And the people are nice too!

Yay for instant gratification!

Holy Crap a Pink Diamond in an International Rough! My niece and I stumbled into this little Chinatown shop while looking for some Lucky Cats for her class project. Holy 1987 They have a TON of original NES video games! I picked up CastleVania and Super Mario Brothers 3 for a reasonable price considering most people would refer to them as "vintage" at this point. -1 star for not having Pre-Mike Tyson's punch out. You remember with "Mr. Dream" instead of Iron Mike because of that whole Robin Givens thing? She had it coming.

It is too bad that they had to change their name after creating such a cult following. I love this place because they have so many super nintendo, and super famicon games. Those are hard to come by these days.

This store has two sections - one toy room and one games/consoles room. The toy store half has most of your run-of-the-mill plushies/cosplay/poster gear, and is very neat and organized. The video game portion is staffed by friendly people who are clearly passionate about video games. I had a funny conversation about import knock-off consoles and bizarre sprite-hack games from Taiwan. Although I didn't find the game I was looking for, I saw a good amount of rare games I'd not seen for quite some time. Definitely a place to scope out for hard-to-find games.

Yeah, its ok.  I mean there are plenty of reasons to like this place, which include rare and import video games, which any nerd loves. But this place is run  by fruits.  Its just not as great as you would like it to be.

Its a bit overpriced,  over-hyped, and overwhelmed.  Its not like there are a bunch of these places in SF, Portland, or Seattle (there are none currently, other then pink godzilla).  It's just that it could be better. I stopped going after a while as it had stagnat inventory and every one who worked there tried to sell me on games i didnt like.  So I dont like Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, let me be.

Anyways, its far better than ebgames/gamestop or the run of the mill video game used stores. But thats not saying much as those places generally suck.

So +'s are
rare and import games
physical store

-'s are
fruity people
expensive
overhyped
stagnant inventory

Pink Godzilla almost sounds like a kinky sex toy, but sorry to all you freaky deaky types, it is a nerd-o-rama fest in there with all their video games and toys related to old school to new school games.

They had some cute lanyards for your keys that I wanted, but I was trying to be good with the funds. I really wanted to pick up the cute poster with the "Pink Godzilla" mascot on it for my apt, but it was gonna be tricky not bending it on the flight home from Seattle. Alas, I only left with a cute Gumba light up key chain for my bf. He loved it!

I don't like video games.  But my brother does.  So I went here today to buy him a gift certificate.  The service was good.  The workers were kind.  there were a lot of video games.

Now, even though I don't like video games, I would come here again.  Why?  Because the guy who helped me with the gift certificate was super hot.

And, come to think of it, I DO have an old Nintendo that needs more games...

This place is like a black market for old school gamers.

I mean, really, if you want the latest Xbox 360 game, this is likely going to be a waste of your time.  Go to Gamestop or EBGames or http://amazon.com for those.

However, if you're old school (SEGA DREAMCAST, BABY!) and you are suddenly absolutely positively desperate to find Shenmue, this is going to be your hook up.  All those games (the ones you can't find in generic gameshops) are belong to Pink Godzilla.

Added bonus - lots of imports (because having Shenmu is one thing, but having the Japanese version is an entirely different kettle of fish) and when I went last year the day after Christmas, I got a Pink Godzilla sticker and a little free keychain.  Awesome.

Good place to get your imports if you don't like to order stuff online. If you have heard about this place you are probable coming for some retro games. They a wide collection of used famicon and super famicon games. Many games have never made it sate side. Now, I can grab a old famicon game I used to brag to my friends about and let them play it to.

I don't think there is a gaming museum in the US, but Pink Godzilla is a scrappy contender, despite its tiny location buried in a mall of sorts in the International District.

If you want to show your kids, who have never heard of Xenogears, nevermind Earthbound or Kid Icarus, how games used to be in "the good old days" when all we had were 8 bits and passionately loved every single bit, your choices are basically endlessly scouring garage sales and flea markets in hope of discovering lost treasures, Ebay, Craigslist or Pink Godzilla. They have games from the current day dating back to the Atari 2600.

There's also a ton of related game merchandise and some Japanese items just for cultural completeness like pocky. Without a Japan fetish or a soft spot for kawaii, I don't think I can fully appreciate it - although even I must admit that the Pink Godzilla panties would bring a perverse sense of enjoyment while worn by that special anime girl in your life, although if you're not that special anime girl yourself, good luck with that since I witnessed a (half-)Asian gamer geek turn down her husband's suggestion of them while I was there.

The main downside of Pink Godzilla is unlike garage sales, the staff here absolutely knows what something is worth - the museum feel also applies to pricing. Rare titles are present but priced like works of art - a *used* copy of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne for $70+? Come on!

I'm sort of a secret gamer.
I mean.
Okay.
I am just rockstar on Nintendo 64, Mario cart.
I just am.
So. You can feel my torment when I discovered all my important red, yellow & white cords had been chewed just slightly enough for the games to STOP WORKING by the dog.
I really thought about this hard; I could leave the games and nostalgia behind me and start fresh; what is this called? Adulthood?

NO. I HAVE DISCOVERED PINK GODZILLA.
They have evvveryyyything. I mean, who still has generic cords for such a 90's console?
Besides having cords, they have about a million games (price tags all say "about" $15, "about" $3,ahaha about? wtf) and knowledgeable staff in this tiny store. It's a bit hard to find, we just sort of happened upon it. It's in a small shopping center (if you can even call it that) where the first thing you see is a staircase, the shop is in the back to your right.

So anyway, if anyone is up for Mario Cart-a-thon, l'm all game. (pun.)

But Sega Saturns? Atari games, new video game rentals for $6 per week? Mushrooms hanging from the ceiling along with everything else they sell? A place where you can shop by laying on your back?

This place rules all. Like all kids of the 80's, I had a Nintendo and a good amount of games. Like all the cases, the Nintendo broke, so I had no way of playing those sweet games. My friend told me about this place, so I checked it out. Low and behold, they had what is called the Yabo game system, which plays the original Nintendo games. And best of all, only like $30. Yipppeeeeeee!!!!!  They have a bunch of the original Nintendo games along with a bunch of other retro games of various systems.

I need to pick up Paperboy from there sometime.

Rock!

This place is the king.

I came across this place when I was walking across the street and seeing the Pink Godzilla name.  I stopped in my tracks as some distant mention of this place alarmed in the back of my head.  I had to check it out.

This place is packed with all kinds of sweet old (and some new) console systems and their games.  They also have assorted related toys, japanese candies, and other little items.  I even quizzed the guy to see if he was for real.

me:  "are old chrono trigger carts still going for some crazy amount of money?"
him:  "I think they're going for like $55 now.  Not $75 or whatever they were before."

Niiiice.  The power glove and other not-for-sale objects are also on display here.

This place knows their stuff.

Oh. Shit. Yeah.

I sauntered in to this fine game shop predicting your run of the mill game shop. I was in for a world of pain. Good pain. Like your thumb is sore from playing too much FFVII and your eyes are dry and irritated from irregular blinking.

I digress...
Not only does this shop stock all kinds of different game system titles (even back to the original NES), but they have imported games. So if you want to play Kirby and not understand anything going on, check it out (unless you are bilingual and then I want to steal your brain so I can understand too).

Yes, I was the only girl in here. No, no one cared as they were too busy playing some game in the corner. Yes, I got excited when I saw they had a DS game I haven't been able to find (Hotel Dusk). And HELL YES I'll be back.

WOW!  A real import video game store!

While wandering around the ID we saw this great window full of anime and video game characters.  Eventually we found the entrance. (it's not where you think it is) And discovered this great store.

There are two parts to this store and one is on the left, the other on the right.  The one on the left is full of video game merchandise.  Shirts, keychains, statues, toys, paper.  Just a great mix from all sorts of hit Japanese games.

The right side houses all the import Japanese games and retro gaming gear.  Hanging from the ceiling are old NES controllers, Genesis, even a Dreamcast.  I swear these guys probably have a power glove somewhere.  All the games are in Japanese so you better be ready to learn the language if you get them here.

I've been told time and time again that I'm just not Asian enough. If I were a little more Asian, I'd have done better in school. I'd be a better artist. I'd be a better musician. I'd be adorable. But, as fate would have it, I'm only half of all those things. It's something I've come to accept.

This is yet another example. If I were more Asian, I would appreciate Pink Godzilla more. Their millions of import games, tiny replicas of adorable things, and staff who know more about the Dreamcast than you thought possible. Perhaps I would understand the cuteness formula used to create their plushified mascot, Pinkie. As things stand, I can still love this teensy store in my own, half-asian way.

Me - "Yeah, sure.  Why not?."

*Scene* Entering Uwajimaya Parking Lot

Me - Spotting a group of people dressed in black trenches with fake colored hair clips and paper/plastic swords.  One is holding a stuffed animal of some sorts.  Another has those brightly colored ski-goggle thingys. - "No.  No we can not go to Pink Godzilla."

End of Story.

:)

But...I did go to support a friend entered in a some video game thingy where all the characters from nintendo can fight each other.

I always leave this place having spent far more money than I'd originally intended. When that happens at other retail establishments, I feel dirty and I want to cry. However, when this happens at Pink Godzilla, I happily skip home to play all the fun games that I've purchased. The selection of import and hard-to-find games is amazing -- definitely stuff you won't find at your local mega-mart. The staff is friendly and super-knowledgable; they've played most of the games in that store, and they're happy to give you tips. If you're on the fence, they're also happy to let you demo a game.

Pink Godzilla, don't ever change!

Video Game lovers go here!  You'll find rare games, old/refurbished consoles, imports, collectible games and toys.  I purchased a miniature console table top video game  (you know, those video game consoles that you find in the 80's that's also a restaurant table) and an awesome dig dug toy.

Purchase a cute Pink Godzilla shirt and get a discount if you wear it to the store for you next purchase.

This place is soooooooooooooo hyped. @_@  Overhyped.
I went to check it out because my game-geek friends go crazy over it.  And maybe I was expecting more.  It's small, it's crazy expensive.  Really cool import stuff there, but man, SO expensive.  It's fun to go see all the cute little toys and look through the rare games and things, but I'd rather search around for it online and pay WAY less.

Have you ever wished that you could go back in time and relive your childhood, but have all the knowledge you had as an adult? Well Pink Godzilla will do that for you, even if it's only through the world of video games. And this time I don't have to look online for the cheats so I feel like I'm a super genius at Super Mario, well I just might be! This place is a pink wonderland with prices that even your inner child's bank account can afford! Be sure to stop by the super tasty Unicorn Crepes cross the street while your there!

I would much rather visit this place again than go to Nintedo/MS HQ.

The place is so drenched in video gaming, it's definitely worth the visit. And it's located in a little plaza with other japanese/nerdy stores (also helps that this place is in International District... did someone say bubble tea?).

Lots to see... and more importantly, buy. If I lived in Seattle, I'd probably visit this place regularly.

In addition to the games for newer systems, Pink Godzilla carries 3DO, Atari in all its incarnations, Coleco, Famicom, Intellivision, and a ton of other rarer stuff. Cartridges cover the walls, so make sure you look up - the ceiling houses a variety of other stuff including Wii keychains, DS carrying cases, stuffed animals and figurines and more.

Cute oldschool gaming related shirts for ladies & gents, controllers, memorabilia, and much more.

You owe Pink Godzilla 14.7 million high-fives.  Tucked inside a tiny bathroom-sized room, Pink Godzilla covers nearly every square inch of itself with rare and import games from the entire history of video gaming.  Yes, some of the prices might seem high, but this is a collector's market my friends, and you are not going to find some of this stuff anywhere else without shelling out an equivalent sum in either shipping and/or travel expenses.  This is where you go when you MUST have Ninja Guiden 3, a keychain that makes Super Mario sound effects, and a new 72-pin connector for your NES, at any cost.

these guys opened this shop in, i swear, a little closet. they had a whole bunch of obscure, hard to find import games at that time and a handful of old school game systems. neo geo, turbo grafx 16, pc engine, super famicom, etc...since then they've expanded at least twice. now they're the size of my master bathroom!! d'oh! i've been a fan since day one. prices aren't necessarily gonna beat the internet or some mega chain store for games but i like supporting a small local shop and more often than not, they have that rare game that i've been looking for on hand and in stock. big up to the little guys for their love of old school video games.

This is the best video game shop in the area aside from Nintendo's (private) "Fun 'N Games" shop in Redmond.  It's not cheap but if you are looking for something exotic or imported, you'll find it here.  If not, they will likely find it for you.  It is part museum and part treasure trove.  This place is tiny, though!  Also, some of the staff people are very rude (though most are cool.)

A video game nerd's dream! Despite the high prices (and  they won't budge, even when you have a competing store on the phone selling the same item for less), this is truly a gem of a store. They have some of the rarest games you can find this side of eBay, including some games selling for upwards of $500. Of course, this is a massive markup and you'd be much better off just getting them on the internet, but for the sheer "video game museum"-like quality, I recommend it. The walls and ceilings are covered (every square inch) with games, game memorabilia and videogame-related merchandise. Oh, and they also sell Hi-Chew.
