The ONLY thing wrong with Ping's is their location. It's not in the best part of town, but their food is awesome, they're really friendly, and they take very good care of you. We go there at least 2 times a month. It is definitely one of the best chinese food places in Marin. The Princess Chicken is great as well as their Kung pao chicken.
Went with a co-worker for lunch this week. Had a $10.00 off coupon, but it was only good for the dinner menu (poo!). However, the food was very good (she had the chicken and asparagus / I had the BBQ pork and tofu). I enjoyed both with some combination fried rice. Service was friendly and quick. Got to keep the leftovers. Tummy is good!

the food is to die for, the service is always friendly and the take out always promptly and nicely served, I love this restaurant!!
This place is the best Chinese restaurant in Marin, I give 10 stars for the service and the team, the food is great and especially the noodle.
One of the best! My former boss would buy me lunch almost daily from Ping's and I was happy to drive there and pick it up! The Singapore noodles are to die for, and the Princess Chicken is great. Basically, you can't get anything wrong there. And I know my boss really enjoyed the Twice Cooked Pork.
I have to say--I once received a small token of appreciation from Paul, and I will never forget it--it was during the holidays and that little something extra really put his restaurant above the rest. And besides the fact that he always remembers me!
Cheers!
It's a good place to go if you're with co-workers and are trying to accomodate a variety of budgets and tastes. The lunch special is generous and reasonably priced, the service is quick which is very important for the lunch hour. The parking can be a bit of a pain though if you're going at peak lunch time.
Decent chinese food in the burbs. Service is friendly, though I've never eaten there and have always gotten take away. I am not a fan of their tofu dishes, but the green beans and pot stickers are pretty good. The location is a bit odd, but I appreciate the prompt service. Now I just wish they'd deliver!
I was hating on Chinese food from about 97 until mid 2005. It was just kinda boring. I had discovered the joys of Thai food and my opinion of Chinese was skewed by how much better Thai is as a cuisine.
That's still true.
But I've decided that that is irrelevant; Chinese food is what it is.
Ping's makes good Chinese grub and I think if I needed take out Chinese in Marin again I'd go with Ping.

This is good Chinese food in Marin. Good, quick service. Clean space. It's just located in an odd area (right off the entrance to 101). I like their crabby cheesy puffs and Mongolian chicken.

Paul still remembers us even though my company left San Rafael almost two years ago. We would come in for lunch, order gobs of princess chicken, request extra princess sauce, get some crab puffs, wonton soup, hot and sour soup, chicken and corn soup, shredded pork with garlic sauce.... I love the children's drawings up on their walls, their well-priced lunch specials, and their soups are divine.
I miss Ping's! It's a San Rafael staple for us old skool ILM-ers along with Indian buffet downtown, Tomoe's (closed), Sol Food, and a mexican tacqueria we have fondly dubbed "Ryan's Place."
I think we once asked if there could be an IV of princess sauce from San Rafael to the Presidio.... No go! You San Rafaelians are a lucky bunch!

Let me start this review by asking you this: have you ever eaten at Pier 6 on 4th St? No? I didn't think so. Apparently popular for their dim sum offerings, you will rarely see a full dining room in that place. Why? cause the owner and the other gal that work there are total raging bitches. Never have I seen anyone as rude as these two in a service industry. Apparently they don't know the meaning of 'manners' or 'gracious'. You couldn't pay me to eat there.
Now Ping's on the other hand is the opposite; very popular and often busy. The owner, Paul, is a friendly, personable guy who makes you feel very welcome.
The food is very tasty and fresh. I recommend the string bean chicken, princess chicken, chicken chow mein, prawns with mixed vegetables, wor won ton soup, and the beef teriyaki sticks.
Go there for the lunch special and you will receive your order in about 4 minutes, no joke.
In summary, Ping's is awesome; no reason ever to go to the OTHER place.
You can also get delivery of Ping's wonderful food through www.dineinmarin.com.

Water cup will never empty service is great Seating is nice and clean looking. You can go here and be sure to be out within time to be back at work an hour later.
I always get Mongolian Beef and Chow mien under 8 bucks with soup and a lil crab puff or vege roll.
This place Rox for lunch... Hidden next to Office Depot in San Rafael Food is fresh Chow mein great and so is the Fried rice.
Dinner don't do it to often here, but it was good.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Marin. Good food, good service. Always gracious to welcome you back.
They mail out coupons every month good for 1 entre, etc., get on the list.
One of my favorite Chinese places in Marin. The food kicks ass (especially the orange chicken). If you check your mail, they send out coupons for entrees (buy 1, get 1 free).
Very friendly and quick staff. It's hidden next to an Office Depot in a small strip center but it's probably for the best as not too many people know about this place...

Under the radar, this is my go-to spot for Chinese food in Marin. It's located in a small shopping center that is home to the venerable Fusetti's (or whatever it's called now). It's actually easy to get to as it's around the corner from Home Depot in San Rafael.
Once inside, the attentive host will wisk you to one of the many tables in this spacious restaurant. Waiters are pleasant and not overbearing. They will joke with you but also help you put together a satisfying menu for the evening.
I suggest the Wor Won Ton soup to start, snow peas and prawns, orange chicken, and sauteed vegetables. Also enjoyed the whole fish last time I was there. But really, the menu is consistently very good. Fresh ingredients and excellent preparations. I've never left dissappointed.

Nice restaurant, fast service and the food is good. Went there for a meeting and they were really friendly. My favorite dish was the prawns and walnut dish. The wor won ton soup was good, but the other dishes were so-so.

Not getting the love here.
The room is dark and dank, and the plates were chipped.
My spicy shrimp was more old school gloppy and sugary than hot and spicy. I'll keep going to Tommy's Wok, thanks.

Prawns and pecan is a good dish. Little children fighting with their chopsticks is not.

The meat is lean, the veggies are fresh and the staff is so nice you'd think there was a little something "extra" in the food. Ping's is a gem well hidden in an industrial part of San Rafael (no, it's not in the canal area). If you're looking for great tasting food that is pretty comparable to what your friend's grandmother makes (you know, like those tasty little potstickers that you steal from your roomate's freezer), Ping's is the place. It's a must try.
