i love going to this place!!  why??
because you can hit on the grass!!

i think the cost is fair.... (dont quote me on these prices)
$11 = 120balls
$10 = 100balls
$9 = 75balls??

hrs of operation: 7am-9pm(i think)
even after sundown, they have a big light that shines
down on you. convenient!!!

This place is awful. In order to get to the driving range, you have to get through two doors. In between, a clerk is watching over your shoulder, feel you are doing something wrong and the clerk is going to stop you anytime. I wish they have more friendly setting on their entrance.

This place is really convenient to visit after work, and pretty competitively priced as long as you're buying the largest amount of balls. I don't remember the cost of the smaller buckets, but its $10 for 120 balls. If you buy a debit card for $30, every time you recharge the card, you get a 10% discount, so that makes a 120 balls is only $9. The field lights come on at dusk and there is the choice of hitting off of the standard turf mats or actual grass. The grass area is usually more busy, and isn't separated out with the little walls, so you just pick a free area. I usually hit off of the mats since its less crowded and I like having my own designated space. The mats area is like a pretty standard driving range. The mats are in varying states of wear, some are new looking, and some definitely need replacing, so just choose your area carefully. Also, some of the mat area is covered by an roof/overhang area. There's a putting area behind the mats, and 3 holes of golf which circle the driving range. I think it was $9 to play the 3 holes, and $1 extra to repeat any, so if you wanted to play the 3 holes, 3 times each it would be $9+3+3 = $15 to play 9 holes of golf.

I've got a mixed opinion of this place.  On the positive side, you can hit off either the grass or turf mats here, all for the same price.  However, you'll need to come early because by early afternoon, the grass range will be in poor condition.  Pricing for a bucket of range balls is above average, likely due to the grass hitting range.  They also have lights at night in case you wanted to hit the range after dinner.  The club staff is friendly.  The putting green is huge, but it's mostly flat.  I do like their chipping green which is a good size.

This is a full service driving range, all the practice amenities one could want, a huge grass area (a big plus for me), food service and yes, you can even get beers here for after your practice session, or during, if that's your bag.

I once practiced here before a late afternoon round of golf, so my friend picked me up and we car pooled to the course.  After our round we grabbed a bite to eat and by the time we got back to my car in their parking lot, it was about 10 pm and quite dark.  To my fucking surprise, upon entering their parking lot, they had rolled this chain link gate across their entrance and fucking padlocked the son of a bitch.  My friend had to drive my ass all the way home and I had to pick up my car the next morning on a work week.  Who the f*%# does that?!

Outside of that highly inconvenienced day, I still like this place.

After reading the reviews, I have to agree with 90% of them.  The place is great for any level of play.  The thing that makes this place unique from other driving range is the ability to hit off the grass for a 'real' feel of golfing.

The location is convenently off of HW 237 off of 1st St.

Best price per ball in the North San Jose area, if you go large. The only place cheaper is on the Moffett Field Air Base which requires a military ID.

The range offers both fake mats and lawn for the picky golfer.
The range is quite wide so hook and slice inclined can see just how likely they'll be able to kill someone on the course. The length also suits those with a heavy long ball (300 yds+).

I used to frequent the Stanford driving range but Pin High is a bit more accommodating since they keep the plastic tees out (Stanford doesn't provide any outside, but allows you to purchase one in their driving range shop).

Wicked cool staff. They allowed some friends and I to bring in a couple six-packs onto the range to ease the post-work stress. We were probably an exception so I wouldn't recommend trying.

I really enjoy Pin High for one major reason.  It is one of the few ranges in the San Jose area that allows you to hit off grass if you so choose.  Other ranges will charge more money for this privilege or they will only offer it on weekends.  However, Pin High offers this every day.

They have an impressive Pro Shop for a driving range.  I've taken a couple of lessons here before and found the instructors to be knowledgeable while lacking the "I could be a pro golfer" attitude you find at regular courses.

There is an interesting little 3-hole course that winds behind the driving range.  It is absolutely perfect for teaching a beginning golfer.  (With the exception of the fact that the first hole is FAR too long for a Par 3 but too short for a Par 4.)

They even have a restaurant and bar which adds to the list of reasons to go there.  If you're looking for a place to spend the better part of a day working on your long game, short game, putting and sand shots, this is the perfect place to do it.

Pin High is the Camry version of golf ranges. It's not fancy or country club like, but comfortable with many features. They have both mat and grass tees, a good size putting green and a short game practice area. Most golf ranges charge a separate fee to hit off grass or to practice chip shots, this place offers both at no extra charge. The short game area has a couple of bunkers and 2 small greens, it's crowded on the weekends though. The pro shop is fairly well stocked with the latest equipment and they also have demo clubs. The staff is helpful and friendly. My friends have taken lessons there with pretty good results.

The bar/cafe area gets a decent crowd at lunch, especially on warm days. There are tables outside to enjoy the weather. FYI - I bought a chicken sandwich there once and it was the worst chicken sandwich I've ever had. I took one bite and had to return it. The waitress said it was the last piece of chicken for the day and it had dried out.....why even serve it??

This driving range is really kewl, because it's super-cheap and you get a huge bucket of balls.  Some of the mats are really worn out, and it would definitely help if they replaced them.  The "9-hole" course that wraps around the driving range doesn't really seem to be a true 9-hole course, but for the price, you can't really ask for much.  Being able to drive the balls off the grass and the nice practice putting green is what makes this place worth driving out to the middle of nowhere for.

The mats need to be changed and the grass needs to be reseeded and mowed, but overall, it's a good place for a beginner to practice because of the number of  activities available.  There are two ranges, one with mats and one directly on the grass.  There is also a putting green and a chipping green with a huge sand trap.

Awesome place. Full bar, awesome, friendly, Jersey grown bartender! Nice staff, good teachers, well maintained green. Not too crowded, really good regulars to observe and strive to be, lol.

Nothing I can say that they others haven't.  Great grass driving range,  conveniently located near downtown.  The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because Cinnabar's grass driving range costs slightly less per ball, but provides a much more relaxing, gorgeous, environment.  However, I work downtown, and Pin High fits the bill!

The grass range is ugly.  Soo many divots and crowded with golfers.  The  golf shop is old and run down.  The price for range balls are cheapest in the bay area.  I rather head down to coyote creek's grass range to hit at grass targets rather than dirt mounds.

It's total love hate with this place!! I'll start with the bad, I'm lucky i get to go hits balls at lunchtime, BUT I just had the worst hamburger I've ever had. YUCK -don't go for the food & I agree with Joseph V. the grass is pretty bad with divots and usually it's packed SO I end up hitting on the mats anyway and yes that shop needs an OVERHAUL, there are so few golf shops around I can't imagine it would do that badly, if done right. I did the drop in women's classes with Dee Tanabe last summer and will definitely do them again this year as she is a really good coach, it was my first time ever and now I can hit the ball, not far but I can at least hit it!! and those classes are out down the other end of the range so no bad divots and lottsa people. so yeah, Dee is there and it's v. convenient & cheap for me to go but the food, shop and grass are dodgy! Oh yeah another good thing (how could i forget this) the chick in the bar is great, made me a wicked vodka/cranberry after a practice one evening ;-)

Great place to practice.  The Pro Shop staff is friendly and knowledgeable.   I take lessons their when I get the chance and the teachers there are great.  The restaurant is an added bonus and a great place to relax if you leave work late and have to deal with commute traffic.
They also run a great golf club which I am a member of.

I dig this place, it has a good feel at a decent price.  It's one of the few driving ranges I've been to where you have the option to hit off the grass.  They also have astro-turf setups for folks who prefer that option.

The place isn't very pretentious, which is nice, and the people that work there are very friendly and courteous even to an obvious newbie such as myself.  The only people that were kind of lame were the lunchtime crowd of IT pro-golfer wannabes.

I've been here a couple of times, during late afternoon and also during mid-day.  The place wasn't too crowded at all during the afternoon, but I did find it to be pretty busy during the lunch hour.

The sandwiches are good.  I usually get the soup when I am there. It is better than a snack-bar but not really a restaurant.  The best part is the patio.  It is a fine place to sit in the sun and let the lunch hour go by.  After lunch you can go throught a bucket at the driving range.

I have been here about 4-5 times.  I find that this place is very inflexible with their customer service.  I have spent plenty of money on their range, and when I brought "outside" food and was going to spend some money on balls, they were extremely rude about telling us to leave or eat it somewhere else.  Come on guys, you may lose a few bucks on a sandwich sale, but what about the many times a week someone would practice there.  Just bad business.

They watch you like a hawk.  I want to go somewhere where I can feel comfortable, not having to look over my shoulder.  Concentrating on my swing is hard enough!!!
