These gals know exactly what to do to make you sore. And it's a good kind of sore. It's really fun!
I had three classes with Erin and one class with Sara. All of them were tough but enjoyable. The instructors know how to correct your form when doing the exercises so you get the maximum benefit from the moves. Heck! I was sore DURING my first session in the class! Plus, with the late/no-show fee of $25, it motivates you to get to class and on time.
I like the friendliness of the people, the small class sizes, and the comfortableness of the environment. I don't feel out-of-place at all. There aren't many men, but I don't think that should discourage males from trying this out. This is very comparable to weight training.
The workouts are fun and they usually go by fast, even though it's about an hour long. There's upbeat music that helps pass time. I would recommend this to everyone!
I've been going to this studio practically every weekday morning at 6 or 7 am since they opened.
It's hard.
It's more expensive than a gym membership.
If you miss a class you book it costs $25 on top of what you already paid.
So for me, that means I get results from a challenging workout that is different everyday. Judy is brutal. I love it.
I get as many workouts as possible in with my unlimited monthly membership which costs some where between $165 and just under $200, depending on specials.
And I'm motivated to go because it costs me $25 if I no-show.
All of this adds up to me feeling pretty good in a bikini and extra good running around naked.
Five stars, for sure.
I hate working out.
But I love pilates plus! It really is a great total body work out! I just went to my first class in months and my whole body is sore. I've been to most of the trainer's classes and Erin's class is one of my faves. Mikael's class is more intense, he looks intimidating and I have to admit when I first saw him I thought he got lost and was supposed to be at Crunch gym or something but he was amazing.. he really pushes you!
One of my favorite things about Pilates Plus and the reformer machines is that you can work a variety of muscles and its not boring, the hour flies by! Totally recommend this!
As soon as I moved to DTLA, I searched for a pilates studio and found Pilates Plus on yelp and took advantage of their new member special. The exercises on the reformer machine are really challenging and can be awkward at first, but it really does give you a good core and strengthening workout. I recommended taking the form class for your free class to learn the correct form and get comfortable using the machine and changing the springs.
I like taking the jump classes where they incorporate cardio in between exercises. You have to build up to the workout but once you do, you'll notice a difference in your posture, core, and over all tone.
Love this place! I just started a month ago and can't get enough of it! All the instructors are amazing, I've learned something different from each one. The classes are small which really makes everyone feel a lot more comfortable and it's much easier to watch and learn. Also, I love the fact that the music is fun and loud (not too loud) but makes the class go by a lot quicker. Yay for pilates in DT!!
Best thing ever happened to Downtown.
I'm not so crazy about hitting the gym 24/7, but pilates plus made working out so much fun and so effortless!
The machine is top-notch, music is upbeat (most of the time), and the instructors are awesome. I love Erin's and Mikael's classes - a little intense but the pain is so worth it. Perfect mixture of core training, muscle flexing and mental endurance - They'll get you ready for oh-almost-here bikini season.
Do it. and your body will forever love you.
I have been going here now for about 3 months....its fantatastic all the trainers are amazing especially Erin big shout out i love taking her class it makes me happy!
The people are so nice Judy is awesome!
its very comfortable...the first class is great they are attentive and help you.
Give it a go!
Whenever I have plans downtown I have to incorporate a pilates plus class! I'd love to be able to go more often but it's hard to get downtown after work!
I just wanted to update because I took Mikael's class last night and LOVED it. He works you hard! My triceps are sore, it feels so good!
They also have a new Jump class (with one of the co-owners Judy) that is supposed to be phenomenal, everyone is drenched after. I'm a jump rope klutz so I'm not sure if I'll be daring enough to try it!
If you live or work Downtown and you want an awesome body you gotta try Pilate Plus!

I love Pilates Plus and am so excited for this location to open! It's seriously one of the best… Read more »
Seriously a heart-pumping, muscle-aching, workout -based on Pilates that incorporates a full body circuit training workout. All the Instructors are fantastic but so different. I like to go to a mix to keep things fresh.
Erin's classes are fun and full of energy - she plays great music and you never feel bored. Mikael kicks my butt...I like to go to his classes when I've had a few too many sweets! I started off with a forms class - which was great - cause the instructor went really slow, and really broke down the technique for the exercises and emphasized how to achieve good form. Kathy is tough - don't let her sweet demeanor trick you into thinking it's going to be an easy 55 minute class. And Judy's Jump classes are unlike any other!
Parking is a cinch - right behind the Eastern Columbia - only $1 per hour (validated).
I was initially nervous about coming here. I hadn't worked out in a while... (Okay, a LONG while). Plus, I was totally new to pilates. I signed up for my first free class with Judy. So glad that I did! She's very attentive to your needs and is eager to answer any questions you might have. Erin is great as well. She's knowledgeable and she'll definitely push you. If you're just starting out, be sure to sign up for the FORM classes. You'll learn basic moves, as well as proper posture and form. Definitely a challenging but terrific workout!
Dude, this class with KICK YOUR ASS! But in a good way. I had always wanted to try pilates with the machines and I realized why. Within minutes I was dripping sweat and afterward felt like I had really worked out. Throughout the week I was craving for more.
You have to try it out! When my body is slamming, I'll have no one to blame but this class. ^_^
I love this place. I went to one class at the Silver Lake location and Pilates Plus and nearly gave up on the idea of Pilates. The first (and last) time I went to the Silver Lake location, the instructor thought it might be motivational to comment on my muffin tops (Wtf? Muffin top criticism should come from friends only). Anyway, my hairstylist said that the downtown location was awesome so I gave it a try. She was right. I love this location. The instructors are really great. They make getting your ass kicked by a workout fun. Plus, they are really knowledgeable and take time to correct your form. The class size is small enough that you get plenty of individualized instruction.
Are you tired of boring workouts at the gym?
If you're looking for a challenging, all-around workout, in a relaxed atmosphere, but with some pumping music, this could be for you.
The latest location has phenomenal instructors!
I always feel amazing after classes. It is super close to my office and there is a great parking lot deal they worked out (you all know how rough parking can be downtown). The unlimited package is the way to go.
I don't know what I would do without it
I recently started taking classes with Joy, my ass is still sore, so I can say without understatement that she is an ass-kicker! IMHO (and I may be off), Pilates Plus is a combo of circuit and strength training using the pilates reformer, which has been redesigned with extra bells and whistles. You will get to work many muscle groups in the 1 hour class, with added benefit of strengthening the core by incorporating stability into each exercise, even the non-ab ones. This is important to me since my core is weak, so I have trouble doing the intensive ab-specific portion and always get caught cheating! I must say the class is hard, I am proud of myself after I am finally done.
PP exercise routine for the most part isn't the same as the traditional pilates reformer routine I've done in the past. So I am excited to see Zartosht's review that PP DT will also be offering traditional pilates workout as well as a 30 min Sebastien's Pilates eXpress for lunch goers. It be great to have the option to change things up from time to time. Currently, instructors will try to vary the Sebastian Pilates routine in each class, and every instructor will vary as well. I have taken 1 class at another PP studio with a part time instructor some time ago, and didn't get as good of a work out as I did with Joy and her instructors. I appreciate how Joy and her people pay individual attention to the student's form.
I am very excited that Joy will be starting a new location in April, but also sad that she is leaving my neighborhood. This location will be great for those that work downtown. I will definitely be visiting and sending friends her way!
I've been taking classes from J&J out of the WeHo Pilates Plus location for months now in anticipation for their Downtown LA spot to open. I've tried mat pilates in the past, but this is completely different. The exercise routine focuses on strengthening core muscles using the proformer machine. It's fun, challenging, agonizing, rewarding - everything you would hope for from a total body workout. They always have great music playing too - though I suspect they turn it up to cover up my occasional grumbling. Lucky for me, they're incredibly patient and encouraging. I'm looking forward to checking out the new locale - drinks at the Edison after class!
My friend brought me here for a class. Oooo mmmm gggg. Every muscle in my body was literally hurting for a week. But the second time around, I wasn't as sore. Pilates using the reformer seriously works out your whole body. You get in a lot of work out for an hour. I highly recommend this place. They have underground parking or you can just park on the street and feed the meters.
This pilates studio is really great! The instructors are really nice and very good - they are patient and take the time to help you achieve the correct form. the studio itself looks fabulous - simple, clean & modern! The machines are top of the line and kept clean and sanitary. The location is convenient to both my work and my home, which is very important to maintaining a consistent routine. I was surprised at how hard my muscles apparently worked without me realizing it -- I went to my regular gym to do some cardio the next day, and I found that my body was still recovering from the Pilates the day before.
I have been taking Judy's class at the West Hollywood location since November and am extremely excited with the results! I tried out a few other pilates classes and wasn't all that impressed but decided to give Judy's class a shot. I have been pumped about pilates ever since my first session! The reformer machines are top notch and I have never worked my core like I have in these classes before. All the cardio workouts I have done in the past have not given me the same results as Judy kicking my booty in her classes. Her choice of music keeps me pumped and I love how she keeps the pace of the class up so that I'm sweating like crazy by the end of it. I am looking forward to checking out her new studio in Downtown. Definitely check this class out if you're looking to work your core, it does the trick!
I live in Hollywood and work in Silverlake but travel to downtown just to take classes at this Studio. The teachers are the best I've ever had. That includes in Paris with the famous (in France) Pilate instructor Phillipe who I would review if they had a Yelp posting!! I think the best here is Erinne (best music FYI). Be sure to bring some water, stretch well and eat a little before.
