I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! If you are looking for a comfortable studio with caring staff, awesome owners, and wonderful down-to-earth atmosphere, this is the studio for you!

I used to take group reformer classes and some privates at Formula Fitness in Boystown. Note: the gym is crap, has high turnover of staff (every staff member I loved eventually left), and long story short, my beloved Pilates instructor, Erin, moved to another gym closer to her home. Turns out she also works at Pilates Chicago, so I up and quit Formula Fitness and followed her to this lovely gem.

Erin is the sh***. She knows her stuff, is personable, funny, and genuinely cares about you as a person (not just a client or cash cow). She is also a monster machine hidden in a teeny tiny person.

The owners are awesome, too! Matt and Jen are super friendly and very knowledgeable. If you really want to get your butt kicked, take a chair class with Matt. Just when you think Pilates gets easier, he figures out a way to make it harder. Jen's reformer classes are also great.

I've been doing Pilates for about two years because of the instruction of Erin, Matt, and Jen combined. When I found out I was going to move to Minneapolis because of work, I was really sad that I wouldn't be able to take regular classes from them anymore.

The packages are reasonable, and they have sales from time to time. I've been shopping around for places in Minneapolis, and let's just say when people state that the cost of living is lower in Minneapolis, it doesn't include Pilates classes (prices here = ouch!). If you can afford privates, you really do get personalized instruction that helps you improve your practice tremendously and gets you very in tune with your body, posture, and alignment.

The clients here are not about showing off their latest gear from Lululemon or being total snobs like your typical yoga/pilates folk in Lincoln Park. They are normal, every day people who want a good workout with great instructors.

Bottom line: YOU NEED TO TAKE PILATES HERE. NOW. I really wish I could clone them and put them across the street from my apartment in Minneapolis, but alas, I guess I will find a good second place studio here.

Several years ago, I took group pilates classes through the city of Evanston, with a woman named JoAnn. Even though the classes ranged in size, she always took time to give students individual attention and she explained things thoroughly. During the course of the class, she mentioned that she also taught at a studio in Rogers Park called Pilates Chicago. So earlier this year when I saw an online deal for this same studio, I jumped at the chance to check it out. I had since moved to Rogers Park, and the studio is within walking distance from my house.

Pilates Chicago really exceeded my expectations. I tried out a private lesson, two group mat classes and two group equipment classes, and then when the deal was used up, I purchased an additional group equipment package, which I am now working my way through. So far, I've gone to five different teachers at the studio, and all of them were wonderful. Every instructor that I've worked with has been patient and extremely helpful. They make the slightest adjustments and the next thing you know, you are working completely different muscles. They really, really know their stuff. I also love the fact that the group classes are small, so you feel like you are getting an individualized lesson, even in a group setting.

I would recommend Pilates Chicago in a heartbeat, and I am so glad the studio is right in my neighborhood!

Awesome studio, not pretentious at all.  There is a great vibe there, the trainers are super friendly and welcoming and forgiving (to a point! ;)

I've been going for 2 (?!?) years now, and can't imagine life without my weekly session.

Packages are available at discount prices, as are "duets" if you have a workout buddy you want to come here with.

The studio is a couple blocks from the Red Line Morse stop.

There are also mat and chair classes, which I haven't yet taken, only because I am a member of EAC and take classes there (it's closer!).

This is a RIGHTEOUS pilates studio.  Everyone there is welcoming, helpful, and committed.  I have been there for individual sessions, and the thing I really loved about it was that the instructor actually took the time to figure out what I needed and to come up with a plan for how to get me there.  Yay Jeff!  I'm coming back just as soon as the recession is over!

I have not taken the group classes either because I have a health club membership where group pilates mat classes are offered, but if the individual sessions are any indication, the group classes must also be wonderful.  I have gotten an email saying that they are expanding their group classes, which is really good news.

I also want to mention that this studio seems to be well-respected among pilates instructors in the city.

i absolutely love pilates chicago. i usually attend wednesday classes with matt because they're the only ones that fit into my schedule; matt is a fabulous teacher who does a great job of shifting the level of difficulty according to class attendees. i have had the pleasure of a class with jen once when she subbed for matt; she is likewise terrific and they make quite the pilates power couple! the 10 class for $100 deal is insanely cheap, especially given that rarely are there more than 7 people in class with you and that the teachers are so excellent. i hesitate to review pilates chicago because i like how small the classes are, but they deserve the love!
