Bolivian food. The original place is called Pike Pizza. Good story behind the name. Ask around about it.

I was not impressed. Much of the menu is red meat centric. Many dishes come with fried eggs and I find that interesting.

For the most part, the beef dishes I tasted were dry. The salad looked dry. The service was dry. Dry.

Sandwiches are inexpensive and could make an OK lunch (my steak sandwich was not too dry). Better than Subway.

I certainly hope that Bolivian food tastes better than this.

First, the place was empty when we arrived for dinner Wednesday night.  You'd at least expect someone finishing up a meal at 8:00pm.  Second, the server was nice and she wasn't very attentive.  I can't blame her, if business was that slow, I'd be just as absent-minded.  Third, they were out of their saltenas - their supposed specialty.  Finally, the food, while plentiful, tasted home-cooked in a bad way.  It's about the same mush I make in my kitchen if I screwed up half-way through the recipe.  Take the Picante de Pollo (chicken cooked in authentic Bolivian sauce, served with rice, chuno, and boiled potatoes) for example.  The chicken strips were tiny and dry and the Bolivan sauce tasted like a sour soy sauce.  Wait, should it taste sour?  And the more I think about it (and study the menu again), I think she mistakenly brought out the Saltado de Pollo (which is basically a Latin stir-fry severed over french fries) instead.  The Silpancho (breaded steak served with fried potatoes, rice, two fried eggs, and topped w/ a special Bolivan salad) was a thin sheet of beef of which I can't identify the cut (probably skirt).  To the kitchen's credit, the eggs were beautifully pan-fried sunny-side up.

Take it from me, this is one restaurant you'd probably won't regret missing.  It serves only as an exercise is dishing out harsh criticisms and adding an extra notch in your Yelp stats.  [Original Visit: August 5, 2009]

Interesting neighborhood place. Nothing much to look at but the food arrived promptly and the staff was very nice. The saltenas were tasty.  This was our first experience with Bolivian food. We will try again and flesh out his review.

Not impressed, tried the ceviche, which was not tasty at all. Someone else had a Bolivian sandwich, of which I've seen better. We had a gift certificate and had problems getting them to honor the certificate.

My friend and I went here last night for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. To be honest, I was thrown off by the look of the place originally. Here you have this "Pike Grill" in the middle of super cosmopolitan Arlington with beautiful condos and sushi, Thai and posh Starbucks everywhere, and out of this abyss comes this little dried up hut that serves as a Latin resturant on the corner of Piedmont and Wilson. Well we went in and the service was not the best. The servers there barely spoke any English (which is fine considering it was a Latin resturant, but I have standards about who should be addressing customers and who shouldn't be) and we caught the waitress napping at the bar, as she waited for us to eat. Okay, it was really hot, and there was no else there, but she could've actually like she cared. So why am I giving this place three stars? What the service lacked, the food made up for. It was superb. I had some kind of steak dish that was totally delicious. Spiced really well, it was juicy and tender with rice that was totally fluffy and went perfectly with the meal. My only drawback was that it was a lot of starch. We had rice and fried potatoes in the same meal. Add to that the steak, and I was stuffed within minutes. Maybe a few vegetables to round it out would've been nice, but eh...you get what you pay for.
