Review from Robin Z.
Yes, the beers were great and the sampler, light to dark, made our lunch delicious twice during our visit north. The food, pub fare to be sure, was always good. In our two visits, we had the Broken Arrow Burger with thick-cut fries and caramelized onions and the fish and chips and clam chowder (we always shared our grub) which were great. But the big lesson here followed us throughout our week-long venture, and that was that Seattle-ites definitely know how to prepare potatoes! In all the places we went to eat, from the most-expensive to the lowliest dive, they knew how to cook a tater. No soggy, floppy, greasy fries could be found in all Seattle (I'm sure they exist but we didn't find them).
Close to where it's all at (except for what NEEDS to be there, the Jimi Hendrix crypt (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), the Pike Brewery has all the makings of a fine British pub Americanized in size and service, truly "spot on!"
Parking, as usual in Seattle, is a bitch. Hey, I have an idea, why not clean up that dumb "Underground Tour" (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) and make it into a parking garage? -

It's just like going to a chain restaurant except they have a great beer selection.
My friend and I split that large order of the Reuben and they served it to us on separate plates with fries. It was very sweet. All in all the food was good and the place is very big reminding me of a cheesecake factory.

I always have a good time at Pike's. It's got that kick-back-with-the-good-ol'-boys feel. You can jam in here wearing your work boots and a carhart jacket, kitten heels and your favorite skinnies, or a sun dress with your flippy floppies. No one judges, and all the employees have smiles on their faces.
It's a brewing company, so having a beer or 2... or 5... is a must. Kilt Lifter, IPA, XXXXX Stout are all goodies. They have bottled beers too but I'm more of a straight-from-the-tap kind of girl.
When it comes to mowin' down, the grub here is great. I have had the Kilted Mac 'n' Cheese (elbow macaroni smothered by a cheese that is blended with Pike Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale), The Halibut and chips, Very Veggie Burger and a caesar salad. I was never disappointed with any of the food I got. YOU HAVE TO GET THE THE XXXXX BROWNIE!! It will blow your mind. -

The food was OK, but the staff was friendly. I tried some of the local beer flavors, but didn't find them all that appealing for a 2nd round.
At this point, I'd prefer taking the time to visit the Pyramid Brewery instead (better food and beer). -

We really enjoyed our lunch here. My husband had the Son of Rueben and I had the Chicken sandwich. We will be back. Loved the decor.

I absolutely adore Pike Brewing. I could go on and on about their beer, it's taste, how much better it is draft than bottled, etc etc. I really do adore it.
I think the Kilt Lifter and the Double IPA are my favourites, but I'm not sure if that's because I like them the best or if it's because those are the ones I remember. Over the number of times I've been to Seattle I've managed to try every one of their beers and for a beer fan I strongly recommend checking it out.
Where Pike loses a star is their food.
It seems to be the age old problem of brew-pubs is that the brew is great and the pub... the food... not so great. I've had a number of items on their menu and for the quality of the beer the food just doesn't live up. There's nothing I'd stress staying away from, it's just typical pub food and not as great as I'd like.
The staff are awesome, the service is speedy, it's always packed and cosy in there and they do what they can to accommodate everyone and even given the mediocre food I'd suggest stopping in for a pint or two on a rainy (or sunny) day! -

They're right downtown by Pike Place market, but the place doesn't feel too touristy. Their beer isn't as good as other local breweries like Elysian, but their chicken nachos are both tasty and big enough to share. The door staff are always super rude and will try to tell you to wait an hour for a table. Just go to the bar sea where there is always ample seating for big parties, and you can order the same food from the bar and serve yourselves.

Good for a touristy place. We went to a show at Showbox and this was right across the street, so why not try? It's overpriced, but food was okay.
I had fish and chips. Can't really mess that up as long as the fish is good. I would've preferred real fries to jo-jos.
BF had corned beef and cabbage. Potatoes weren't very good and the corned beef was tough and not flavorful.
Won't be coming back. -

We stopped in here a couple times while out bar hopping and must say that I did like the beer, the Kilt Lifter was my favorite one I tryed. This place was very crowded both times we stopped in so that might be why our servers seemed to be in a bad mood. Both times we stopped in it kind like we were bothering them by ordering a beer so both times it was one beer and on to the next place.

Really liked their Belgian style beer as well as the halibut and chips dish. The location and ambiance really detract from the over all experience. The service was good.

Stopped in for a beer sampler after a long day of visiting seattle area. Turned out to be just what I needed. Kilt lifter was favorite out of the sampler with double ipa being the least. Beers 1 and 2 were refreshing. But kilt lifter.. Mmm mmm good. Gunna have to.go back and pick up 6 or twelver. This review is based soley upon beer/bar as I didnt order any food. Paid 8.95 for a six beer (6 ounces each) sampler.

This review is for the bar/beer only, I didn't have any food.
Pike Brewing Company sits right by the Pike Place Market, and gets its fair share of tourist action. It seemed to be busy every time we walked by, so we finally had to stop in and taste the beers. The Kilt Lifter and Stout are decent, but everything else was somewhat generic and a little overpriced.
Kind of like the entire place actually. It looks and feels like the TGIFridays of brewpubs, like they just put as much beer/brewery related crap on the walls as they could find.
That works for a lot of tourists though, so they won't be hurting for customers any time soon. If you're looking for a unique micro brewpub, look elsewhere. -

I'm a local non-drinker but I LOVE the brewery's chicken caprese sandwich. I am obsessed. The service usually is kinda mediocre, but the food is awesome!

Note: This review is only for the Bar and beer. We didnt eat here.
While walking through Pike Place Market, we stopped in at the Pike Brewing Company to wet our whistles on a local micro.
My buddy and I split a sampler and then each had a pint of our favorites.
He had the IPA and I enjoyed the amber. The IPA was pretty hoppy, which I'm not a huge fan of - but it was still good. My amber was sweet and rich and a little darker than most I've tried, which I liked. The other options were good. The stout was thick, even by staout standards. I'm a Guiness and Beamish man, and let me tell you - i grew some chest hair after sampling the stout.
The winner, though, was the cask beer, which was serveda little warmer than normal and is served through a pump straight out of the cask rather than a refrigerated keg. It was sweet, smooth and really tasty. I had never tried cask stored beer before - it was really good.
They were running a special on Growlers so we filled up one of the Amber for dinner that night and were on our way.
The place, all in all, was nice, kind of like a Seattle Gordon Biersch. But the bartender was knowledgeable and nice and took good care of us. -

Bad service, Fish and chips were soggy. We spoke with the manager about the experience and he apologized and took off the gratuity (since we had a party of 7).
Not what I expected - great atmosphere - we'll be back just for bar service and drinks as they were great! -

Service was fine. Had the bratwurst and sauerkraut. The sauerkraut was very very tasty. Just the right amount of sour. Did not try the beer.

We come here again and again when looking for dinner downtown with no fuss. The food is great (fish and chips or pork nachos are solid bets). Happy Hour is a great deal if you're in before 6. My only complaint is that, as a cocktail drinker, the full bar is a little unreliable.

A 'must-do' whenever I hit up a new city is trying local beers and this one is nice and touristy, named after its most famous of traps - how can you go wrong? Well, evidently you can go wrong with the 'Wit' seasonal. Bleh, it wasn't horrid mind you - I would just never drink it again and let the hubs finish mine. (I don't want this beer to be in my spanish purgatory). I would have tried more, but when you have a plethora of booze to try out in a new city, its hard to waste valuable stomach and liver space on something that didn't do you right the first time around...
I'd give them a second shot the next time I am in town though! -

This is about the food ... Didn't have beer or alcoholic drinks.
My air-fried fish & chips was great! I don't understand why other reviewers complained about it being soggy ... Both the potatoes & fish are air fried & not cooked in grease. My daughter had the salmon stuffed with crab & she loved it. I had a taste of it and I agree, it was great. My wife had the corned beef & cabbage. She said the cabbage with the maple sauce was delicious, the potatoes were good, but the corned beef was a bit tough and dry ... but not really that bad.
The price was a bit pricey, but I thought it was reasonable. The service was friendly and fairly good. We were actually served by three different people. That said, it was 4 PM and the place was not that crowded.
Bottom line, I look forward to going back soon and I'd recommend Pike Brewing to my friends. -

Beer delicious!!! The 2nd stop to our own taste of Seattle. Showed up around noon after leaving the market place from having a taste of Mac-n-cheese spot. Well walked to the Museum Bar and got the sampler (BEER!!) the beers were all good. Fav was the IPA. Make sure to get some water to cleanse your pallet after each beer. Staff was very cool. Will return here on my next visit. Had a good time here. On to my next stop. It was good too.

I've been to a good number of breweries since turning a particular double digit age. The beers on tap here were decent. Not particularly memorable. We didn't try the food, but they didn't look particulary great either.
The decor was hard rock cafe meets red robin cafe. Or a punk version of Islands. Cheesy attempts at being rock. Servers were touch and go. The customers, however, were beyond nice. Offering our chairs as they left, or having an awesome chat that included recommending nearby restaurants.
You can go directly to Post Alley via their downstairs door. -

On a recent trip to Seattle I stopped here to watch the football games on a Sunday. I was the only one at the bar in the special "beer" room. The bartender was a very friendly guy and switched between football games (they only had one TV). I tried almost all their beers and would recommend the Monks Triple Ale. The double IPA is also a great beer.
The food is not that great but the beer more than makes up for that. -

AWESOME PLACE!!!!.... a must see for a seattle tourist or a local seattlite !!!!! the beer is some of the best ive tasted. The Pike Double IPA is one of the best tasting beers I have ever had... the Pike XXXXXX Stout is included on this list. Huge place to have a party (small or large)... great staff, family owned, excellent food (spicy stuffed salmon, the "Bronx", or Sausage and mashed potato).... everything is made in house (so they say) and you can taste the difference!!! PS. they have a museum bar (shrine to beer)... all beer lovers need to see this place! this is a number 1 on my personal trip advisor

In preperation for our trip to Seattle, the wife and I did some investigating of local breweries. I'm a big fan of beer, so trying regional brews is always enticing. Pike Brewing was the most advertised so we gave it a shot.
I wasn't crazy about the ordering from the bar, but the bar tender was sharp as a tack--and pretty sweet to boot--so that made up for it.
I tried the six sampler and I can proudly say I'm a fan of all the brews-sans the IPA (I just don't much care for IPA's, no matter who brews them).
The food was alright, could have pushed a bit more on the toppings front for my burger. Perhaps a flavored sauce with one of the brews as the base--in fact a Kilt Lifter BBQ sauce would be really good.
Cool atmosphere, cheerful waitstaff and pretty solid food. Although it seems to be a bit of a tourist trap, I do recommend this place. The beer, alone, is worth it. -
Review from Kendra B.
I like breweries, and try to stop in to a few while traveling to sample the wares. This place left something to be desired.
The beer was fine. I had the IPA and Double IPA, and both were solid examples of the style. My husbands extra stout was also "strong, good, and very stouty."
Being blocks from Pike Place Market and on a tourist drag, the whole establishment reeks of kitsch. Over decorated with beer memorabilia, all the tables even have the pub logo stenciled on. If I wanted pieces of flare with my beer, I would go to Tchotchke's.
Go for beer, don't expect to be wowed by the atmosphere if you like normal breweries. -

Definitely a must do in Seattle. We had pile ale and dry wit, both are good, but dry wit was the winner since we both prefer light beer..nice staff and crowd....

Good tourist spot. Given that it is not really tourist season in December, it was great! Service was stellar, beer was good but the food was small and way too over priced. If you are just touring around its a great location!

Visiting from San Diego for the 5th year in a row.
Randomly falling into this place in years past was a nightmare. Crowded, hard to get a bartender's attention, etc.
This year got it right.
Came early and strictly for a beer, which was delicious. Ayinger Brau Weisse gave my soul a lift.
Have no idea about food, but the beer treated me right.
Bottom line - show up early enough and things are more than fine.
Cheers. -
Review from Leah H.
Pike Brewing has the benefit of a great location that allows them a steady stream of tourist business in addition to the locals who work/play downtown. Because of the tourist traffic food prices are crazy high compared to similar quality brewpubs.
The breakdown:
- Food is good, sometimes even very good but not terribly exciting (with the exception of the mustard dipping sauce for their pretzels... seriously delicious).
- There is a lot of stuff on the wall. Some of it cool with information about different styles of beer. The rest is more Red-Robin flair than anything else.
- Beer is totally solid (but not exceptional) and there are enough varieties to keep everyone in your group happy.
- The layout is more labyrinth than restaurant and makes it difficult for you to know who to order from, the rest of your group to find you, and your runner to actually get your food to you.
I'll keep stopping by when I'm nearby and need a decent pint, but I'd never plan a visit to Pike Brewery. -

I've been here a few times with visiting friends and/or family when we take them to Pike Place Market, and I found something here that I now crave! I absolutely love their salmon sandwich; I even let my husband have a taste and he loves it so much too that we tried to come here for my birthday dinner (without a reservation) only to find that the wait for a table was going to be too long so we didn't get our fix! That said, this place has a good enough selection of brews and the food now to make us trek across the bridge even without dragging along tourists and fighting the crowds through the market!
Other menu items may be a little pricey (it is next to a popular tourist destination), but my husband really liked their crab pizza on one visit. I tried the crab chowder and I think they have jalepeno in the soup which I personally don't like flavor-wise so I didn't enjoy it much -- there was a good amount of crab though if my memory serves me correctly. We've had beer samplers and burgers too all of which were fine. For me, it's all about the salmon sandwich though of course -- a nice generous fillet of fish, lots of tartar sauce and even some chips (as in American, not fries) on the side were tasty.... seriously, yum.
The service tends to feel somewhat slow and I've even joked about some other patrons who seem to be waiting around forever for their food and/or bill... but with good company, this isn't too hard to overlook. -

Have lived in the Seattle area for almost 10 years now and during that time have enjoyed the occasional Pike brew. All that I have tried have been good. Finally dined at the restaurant recently while at the market with a visiting relative. Sat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Both bartenders were great. Food was decent but we stuck to the burgers and sandwiches, other dishes seem too spendy. As someone else said don't expect gourmet. Stick to the simple can't-go-wrong items. I recommend Maximilien's in the market for a more complete, somewhat upscale, non-touristy dining experience. But this place is just a large brewpub so keep your expectations at the appropriate level.
Main event is the BEER. Had a cask IPA which was really good, followed by the always great kilt lifter scotch. From previous Pike brew encounters I also recommend the pike pale, naughty nellie, stout and monk's uncle.
Even though I live in the area I'd definitely come here again, at least for a pint or two at the bar, if/when I find myself at the market. -

Stumbled upon this interesting micro/craft brewery while waling down 1st Ave looking for a spot to have lunch. Since I am a fan of such things as unique craft beers this was a must do.
We started with the Dungeness Crab & Artichoke Dip. I guess in Seattle crab is cheaper so I guess local chefs can whip them up as a regular appetizer. It tasted pretty good but did have kind of a fishy aftertaste (but then again it is crab).
Entree? I got a "Carnivore Pizza" with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, sausage and salami covered in mozzarella. You really can't screw up a pizza so..that's whats up. I think maybe the so called "Famous Pike Pie's" sold me. I always like challenging the idea of a good pizza pie against my favorite Chicago style pies!
Brews, yes the brews....I did not try them all as that would be completely reckless of me so I narrowed it down to three during the course of the meal:
- Pike Double IPA (Interesting but nothing that stands apart from the others)
- Pike Kilt Lifter (had a great sweet yet hoppy aftertaste...)
- Pike Weisse (a good table beer of a wheat variety)
As touristy as I was...I caved and bought a Pike Kilt Lifter T-Shirt...All in all it was a good experience. Like i always say most cities will have their own micro or craft brewery that is locally famous. Cheers to you...... -

Tempe, AZ
Pike Brewing is one of the three breweries in the states that brews a Kiltlifter Scotch Ale. I thought there was a 4th but can find no evidence of that in the tubes. To be honest, I like this one better than Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe, AZ's. I have not had Moylan's (Cali) on tap yet.
This is a really cool establishment. Great little restaurant attached to the brewery, accessible through Pikes Public Market, Post Alley or from 1st Ave. Its not hard to find and they have a lot of seating.
The bartender was super efficient, got us settled with a beer and got us food nice and quick. I had the Bratwurst with smoked apple sauerkraut and XXXXX Stout Mustard, it was awesome with wedge fries. My partner had a salad and a soft pretzel, those were also excellent.
If you visit Seattle, get to this spot once your sick of fighting the crowds at the market. Its a nice spot to sit, have a cold one, and gear up for another foray into market mayhem! -

We've been to Pike Brewing company many times and have ordered their kegs for our parties. Their beer Kilt Lifter is truly a quality beer! It tastes delicious and I would highly recommend it. They have a huge selection of unique beers, all very good!! The staff at Pike Brewery, including the owners, strive to make it a fun place to be. They are always doing updates to the bar and putting cool, new, classic art on the walls. This is a perfect place for a spur of the moment outing, company get together, or a birthday party.

**(Note: This review is based on our experience on July 17th. I wrote to the general manager and owner of the restaurant and described our poor dining experience. Both gentlemen wrote back and apologized and said they would make changes in how they trained their staff members. They also encouraged us to try Pike again, should we be in the area in the future. Their prompt replies to our letters reflects the care and pride that they clearly have for the restaurant but we still felt we needed to include this review on Yelp.)**
Unfortunately for this restaurant, the mediocre service trumped the decent pub food and beer. The brightest spot of our service experience was their host, who was pleasant and welcoming and even offered to park our 10-month old son's stroller behind one of the counters. After that, however, it went menacingly downhill from there.
Our waitress was probably having a bad day because not only did she not smile or say "hello" when she approached our table, but her response to my "rush" request on our order was, "the kitchen can only make the meals so fast." I don't operate a restaurant but this is typically not a response you give to patrons who are in a hurry.
During our meal, our baby began making too much noise for the restaurant; we were keenly aware of the noise and very apologetic to the people around us. So, just as I was about to take him out of the high chair and outside for a walk, we were approached by a random server who said "he was receiving complaints about the noise from diners in the lower area." Granted, we recognized how loud it was and we were doing everything within our parental power to calm our son but his noise was (in our opinions) only somewhat audible above the noises of the pub: plates and glasses being stacked, sports on multiple TVs blaring, and people talking at loud volumes. This just didn't leave a favorable impression on us, especially after our waitress's less-than-cozy introduction. Lastly, you don't typically go to a pub expecting a quiet atmosphere, especially at lunchtime.
Aside from these interactions, the food was okay and my beer was very good. As mentioned above, the restaurant owner and general manager were made aware of our experience, thanked me for letting them know, and assured me they would try to make changes in how their staff addresses situations like ours. -

I fail to understand all of the 2 and 3 star ratings.
It is a brewing company ...not a gourmet restaurant.
Their beers are top shelf.
Food is good, very good for a BREW PUB.
Yes, it is a bit $pendy - but it's smack in the middle of one of the US' bigger tourist traps.
Maybe for the consummate local, it's sub-par ... but compared to MOST brew pubs/breweries I have ever visited, it's head and shoulders above the rest.
Visit the Pike.
