Pierson & Co is definitely one of the best BBQ places I've ever been to.  We ordered two brisket sandwiches - one regular chopped, the other lean - baked beans, sausage and potato salad. The brisket in the regular sandwich was the perfect blend of tender, fatty and lean meat bathed in their spicy BBQ sauce.  The lean brisket sandwich was well-seasoned, & didn't need the BBQ sauce that came on the side.  Baked bean fans will LOVE Pierson's - spiced (but not too hot) with bits of meat (brisket? not sure). Potato salad was good.  Not a fan of the sausage links.  I wanted the rum raisin bread pudding for dessert, but they didn't have it...sounds amazing.  They had peach cobbler instead (but I didn't try, not a fan of cooked peaches.)

Service was friendly and good.  Dining area is small, so don't recommend going with a large group. I recommend Pierson's and would definitely stop by next time I'm in the area.

Woah!  Are you kidding me?  I love this place.  You can smell it from like a block away and as your nose leads you into the front door you become overwhelmed by it.  Completely overwhelmed.  I must have smelled like smoke the rest of the day.    At any rate, I just stuck to the brisket, which was amazing.  You can taste the love these people put into their food.  It probably was one of the best briskets I've had here in Houston.  So moist and smokey.  My beans were awesome too, they had just enough kick to make them interesting.  If theres one thing I hate, it's molasses and brown sugar in the beans.  These were awesome though.  The coleslaw was  little sweeter than I normally prefer, but that came full circle with the beans.  The sauce was awesome too, it really wakes up your taste buds.

I'm so glad I found a job and have starting working 3 miles from this place.  I'll be sure to get to know this family in short order.

HOLY SMOKES THIS IS SOME KILLER QUE!

That smoky mesquite smell hit me as I walked up to the front door and I just hoped the BBQ tasted as good as it smelled. I stood there drooling for a while, studying the menu, trying to decide if my wallet and waistline could handle 1 of everything.

They couldn't, so I went with the Trinity. That's brisket, sausage and ribs, 2 sides (beans and coleslaw for me), bread, pickles and sauce. Since the dining room is tiny - just 3 tables - and it was filled up, we decided to take our grub back to my boss's house. What a torturous ride, smelling that sweet, sweet meat. Surprisingly I, and his car interior, survived.

We all dug in and it was 15 minutes of silence. Well almost. There were some mmm's and ahhhh's here and there. The brisket was very good with a beautiful 1/4 inch smoke ring. It wasn't quite as moist as I like, but way better than most BBQ places in Houston. I've met very few people who make a perfect brisket and this was pretty close. The links were great as were the ribs. The ribs were so tender the meat fell right off the bones. They were a little fatty compared to most - I know that turns some people off - but that's what made them so tender and juicy. They also had a homemade sauce with bite! Not bad at all.

The sides were good too. I loved the beans, I could even eat them on their own. The coleslaw was great too. I didn't order the potato salad, but I'll give it a shot next time. I had the bread pudding for desert and it was pretty good too.

Today was the first of what I'm sure will be many many trips to Pierson & Company Bar-B-Que. Clarence Pierson is a true smoke master!

absolutely some of the BBQ i've ever tasted in my life!

i recently traveled from chicago to houston with three goals: to spend time with friends, to develop my photography skills, and to eat great houston food. pierson & company helped me achieve that third goal with flying colors.

this BBQ stop is a small, family-owned gem that i had read extensively about prior to coming down to houston. clarence pierson is a great, kind-hearted man who is truly a master of meat. he was generous enough to show my friend and i his kitchen, as well as his custom-built steel smokery in the back. he explained how his meats are slow-cooked, and how proud he was to use mesquite wood for that characteristic flavor. the other employees there were equally warm-hearted, and it was one hell of a lucky privilege for me to get a photo with all of them.

when i told them that it was my first time there, they gave a sampler of sausage, brisket, and ribs. the ribs were great, but the sausage and especially the brisket were out of this world DELICIOUS. i honestly don't know much about BBQ, but what i did understand was that my taste buds were worshipping mr. pierson! the food was so tender and the flavor was shockingly good. i ordered the "trinity" combo platter - which, for $10, was a grand slam. you get sausage, brisket, ribs, awesome hearty beans with more chunks of meat, some tasty potato salad, and bread. i finished it off with homemade peach cobbler, which was the final amazing complement to a perfect meal. my stomach was simultaneously cursing me for how much i had eaten, yet thanking me graciously for the same reason.

ladies and gentleman, mr. pierson is a man who demonstrates how exceptional slow-cooked BBQ can be. go pay his BBQ joint a visit and be amazed!

So every once in awhile I get a day off where I can actually eat lunch during normal hours.  So I decided to be a good son and call my mom up to check out Piersons since It's near my mom's office.

We rolled up together and ordered the Trinity which is the 3 meat plate.  The family that runs this joint is A+.  Super friendly and talkative.  They were very helpful towards the menu and how to order.  The service was prompt.

I started out with the brisket since this is what everyone raves about, I don't know if I got a bad batch but my brisket was nothing like what other people described.  It was a lean cut with a solid layer of fat on the outside.  I cut the fat off and the brisket was on par with guy's meat market.

The ribs were tender but once again lacking the rub I'm still searching for.  The ribs were more fatty than places I've been to recently.  The links were not my type of links.  That's just a personal preference.

As far as the sides they offer 4 different sides, beans, slaw, chips, and potato salad.  The beans had a little kick to them and was the best but not by much.  The sauce was average.

Overall this place is OK in my book.  For the drive I was expecting amazing, it wasn't bad but still my BB"Quest" continues...

SLAP ME FRAKING SILLY.

This is Texas Bar-B-Que.  This is easily the best BBQ I have had in Houston.  Everything was right.  I, like Nick L., asked for the moist and charred parts of the brisket .  I took a bite and it was an explosion of flavorful smoked spices in my mouth. OH EMMMM EFF GEE.  I took the time to savor the meat and let my taste buds go awry.  I usually do not do that.  I just gobble my grub down.  Pierson & Company's sauce is pretty good too.  The sausage was glistening and shining at me.  I believe some spiciness was infused into the link because it was oozing delicious reddish-orange chili oil.  Even the potato salad was out of this world.  It had a hint of sweetness that was paired well with the salty and spicy meats .

The quantity that Pierson gives you is very generous as well.  I ordered the Brisket and Link combo for $7.75 and was able to make it into two meals.  The menu is rather large and includes: brisket, sausages, boudin sausages, ribs, sandwiches of meats, baked potatoes with meat, beans and desserts.  The service was great.  The ladies at the counters were nice and friendly.  My food came out hot and fast.

The only downside is they are NOT open on Sundays or Mondays and that Pierson & Company closes at 7 on the other days of the week.  It is also a decent drive for me.  This sucks because I am going to be craving it all the time.. like right now... FML.

What took me so long to get to Pierson's?!  Wow ... this is BBQ to make you remember what good BBQ is all about (and how little of that there is, in spite of all the BBQ places around town).  The brisket melts in your mouth with a fantastic char around the edges and a lovely pink smoke ring.  Ribs fall off the bone with smokey flavor through and through.  The sausage is very tender and unique (some love it, some don't - I do).  Sides are even good, especially the potato salad and the beans.  I ate too much to try the homemade peach cobbler but I'm determined to make room next time.

The service is uber-friendly and its not as far "out" as you'd think ... just a few minutes north of 610 on T.C. Jester.  Do yourself a favor and GO!  Absolutely some of the very best BBQ in Houston (or anywhere).

That BBQ sauce jumped up and slapped me in the face with flavor.
I tried the rib and link plate. The ribs tasted "authentic" and smokey. The link sausage was AMAZING!! I was burping sausage all day afterwards, but it was worth it.

Not much room for eating in and no frills, just good BBQ.

This is the best barbecue I have ever had! All other barbecue I have eaten pales in comparison to the barbecue at Pierson & Company.

I have never had such moist, delicious brisket. It has a serious smoked flavor, but is not overwhelmingly smoky. I ordered a brisket sandwich, although next time I will probably order a plate, the better to experience the transcendental brisket on its own. They were out of potato salad, so I got the coleslaw, which was a solid rendition of a classic side. Still, the star is the brisket -- I just couldn't get over how tender and flavorful it was!

Not only is the barbecue amazing, the service is super friendly! The girl at the counter asked us whether it was our first time there, and when we told her it was, they brought us out samples of brisket, sausage, and (I think) pork. All three were fantastic! I will have to try to branch out during future visits, although it will be hard to resist that brisket.

We went later on a Saturday and at first thought they were closed because the "open" sign was towards the back of the building and we didn't see anyone inside. Thank you to the girl at the counter for waving so that we didn't walk away! I mention this only for other first-timers who may be similarly confused.

Why are you still reading this review? You should be on your way to Pierson & Company ... it is THAT good.

I started my day off at Waldo's, as usual, when my buddy Nik invited me to lunch. He read Rob Walsh's "raving" review of Pearson's BBQ in the "Houston Press" and wanted to check it out. Since I already had coffee, I didn't have much of an appetite but still agreed to tag along. "I'll just keep him company," I thought.

Uhhh, yeah right, Farrah. As soon as I stepped out of my ride, the sweet, savory and smoky smell of mesquite barbecue hit my nose and instantly ignited my appetite.

Parking on a grass/dirt/gravely patch of land, I walked over to the two-story building (upstairs is actually a barber shop) and inside the small eatery. Nik already ordered ribs along with a side of beans and 'tato salad (which I tasted and really enjoyed. Gimme more, bro). It was a roast beef sammich for me (on wheat bread. Kudos to Pearson's for offering that.) I do wish it came with onions and pickles, but perhaps I had to ask for those condiments.

The meat was hot, tender, full of flavor--but a tad bit salty for my taste. Nik, on the other hand, was having foodgasms with each bite of his ribs, which he noted that the meat was falling off the bone. No need for a fork. "I'm coming here for dinner tonight," he says. "You would," I say sarcastically (Nik's the type that will go into overkill once he finds a place he likes. But I'm not one to talk. I once ate crawfish five days in a row.)

The Pearson family is incredibly sweet, offering each patron a sample of their grub upon ordering. I chatted with the owner, and he introduced me to his family who help run the kitchen.

They plan on adding picnic tables to the shaded patio in the near future, and from what I saw, they do catering. All in all, the food and service was great, and I look forward to trying some of their other items.

Went for lunch today.  Best in Houston for sure. I am more of a fan of central Texas German style but this is the shizz. Brisket (fat side) was fantastic, ribs too. Sausage is way better than most in town as well. Real smoker no wood pellet gas blower.

Clarence Pierson is awesome.  And my most recent visit here cemented that for me.
This past week I had the best brisket I've ever had in Houston.  World-class.  That is a big deal folks.  That by itself gets them in the 4 star range.  But as I've mentioned previously, the reason to love this place is the family that runs it.  Gracious and friendly, they are a reason for a visit alone.  Clarence is proud of his product and his pit.  The best part?  He's happy to discuss and show you both at length.  When I told him that the brisket was at the top of my Houston list he beamed w/ pride.  A second later he asked me about the ribs.  I was honest and said they were OK, and that they were better last time.  Dude looked like I just shot his dog.  I respect the shit out of that.  The man genuinely cares.  Mix that love with some pretty sweet pit skills and you got yourself a pit master right there.  And it couldn't happen to a better guy.  P&C - solid Q.
(sides and sausage still not so good)

i rolled up to this unassuming eatery just inside acres homes after reading that pierson and company won the chowhound taste test for best brisket. i asked for a "mixed pound" of brisket and sausage with the sauce on the side. i made a special point to ask for the brisket cut with the charred crispy part on the outside and moist interior. cut into huge, flavorful pieces, the brisket was great. a few of the extra charred pieces were truly divine, reminiscent of the best brisket i've had from black's bbq in lockhart. the sausage was awesome too, with a good amount of heat.

i also loved the service. the folks behind the counter and in the kitchen were so helpful and friendly and were genuinely glad to meet a new customer. i want to be their friends.

when they open up their upstairs barber shop, i will eat a slab of ribs while getting my hair trimmed.

three cheers for pierson's, best 'cue in houston!

The chick channeling e. e. cummings speaks the truth.  Pierson serves some seriously good 'cue!

This brother rolled up on a languid Saturday afternoon and thought this will be either really good or way overblown.  There isn't a real parking spot to speak of but the carport thing does offer some shade from the sun.  Place doesn't look like much but the aroma greeting me as I entered was like the smell of vino to a wino and I started drooling.

Ain't much to speak of in the way of decor but hey, when your food is this good, you don't need no damn stinkin' decor.  The long counter with the marble pattern laminate reminds of the food bars at IAH (before Harlan's moved).  While I ate in, the three other person/group who came all got theirs to go.

The menu is straightforward, similar to other bbq joints - you can get dinner combos or by the pound.  I highly recommend the ribs/brisket/links combo; added a boudin.  The lady asked if this was my first visit (looks like they opened recently).  While waiting for my food, she brought out samples that whetted my appetite and made me glad to be an omnivore.

The brisket was among the best if not the best I've had - the flavorful crust and smoke rings with just the right amount of pink and fat (which I trimmed off but was soooo tempted to eat - it was the enhancing flavor type not the gross gotta trim off kind).  I'm drooling again just thinking about it.  The link was bad ass - densely packed and like J-dub said, snapped in its casing.  If there was a jalapeno or spicy version, I may never order links from another joint.  Ribs, oh the ribs - Kreuz's Market is still numero uno in my book but this is 1-A.  Nicely trimmed, quality meat with unbelievably smokey flavor.  Makes me wanna holla Flava Flav!  The boudin was good not spectacular; I think I actually prefer the Taiwanese version but that's for another time.  The sauce was excellent, accentuating the smokiness of the meats by adding some sweetness in just the right amount and not overwhelming anything.  The beans were great - I sopped up the sauce with the boudin.  The slaw was good too though I didn't do the weirdo Carolina thing and eat the 'cue with it slathered.

The smokemaster and the lady (assume it's a family/husband-wife team) both came out and checked on the food.  Nice hospitable folks though I was too busy enjoying the food to really strike up a conversation.

I'd eaten at the new churrascaria, Fuego Vivo, the day before and for about 1/3 the price, Piersons pwns them in quality and value.  Yeah they're different types of restaurants but bottomline, it's all about the meat.  In fact, PC blows away everything else in Houston in the meat category in my humble opinion.  The dumbasses at Texas Monthly need to pull their head outta their ar$e and stop trying to be cool by listing less than stellar places in their top 50 list.  I ain't talking trash but come on, Burn's?  De gustibus es no disputandem and all that sh!t but the only thing I'd give B is quantity.  Ms. Thelma better watch out too.  More of an indictment of the establishment press than a slam on the other restaurants.

PC is on the east side of TC Jester just after Mansfield so don't go too fast or you'll miss it.  It looks like one of the house on stilts in the Golden Triangle and may have been a barber shop/beauty salon at some point.  The brick construction for the counter and pillars looks brand spanking new and solid as a, well, brick house.  The neighborhood is transitional so it's interesting to see the people.  A sight that was little poignant - saw a sight-impaired person on a motorized wheelchair with a probing cane going down TC Jester.  He had a jheri curl too.  It's open Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.  They cater also.  Throw some love and your hard-earned cash their way.  It will be worth your while.

To paraphrase Timbaland, "go 'head child and get your Pierson 'cue on."
