First time staying at this inn and I was very impressed!

They obviously wanted my business... the rate was 159, but I was able to get a rate much lower as I told them Im in town on business (and they applied a AAA discount as well). Stayed 2 nights as a result.

Room 419s door looked like it was the backside of the place until I got inside. Its designed this way. Front door is actually the back of the room. The front of the room is a sliding glass door with patio facing the pool! Great king sized bed, a dining table plus desk and entertainment center with midsize tv. Bathroom had a dressing area outside with another desk or vanity for the ladies. It was really clean overall.

They serve a free continental breakfast or a sit down breakfast that is not free. Seems more like a lodge than an inn? Dark wood and sitting areas all over the place. Outdoors you can sit and listen to the freeway or play some croquet.

Had dinner at Austens, the Inns restaurant, and that was excellent.

I was impressed that I was never bothered and that I seemed to have the place to myself. Looks like the inn gets a lot of traffic at lunch and dinner. I saw many business people having drinks and meetings. Good place for couples or for a single traveller.

The only drawback is the noise from the 101 at all hours.

My hubbie and I have been staying at the Pierpont for over 10 years now, and it has been, for the most part, a pretty enjoyable, upscale hotel. However, over the last 4 years or so, we have been quite disappointed by the amenities, the property, and the restaurant/breakfast.

At one point, we were staying at least 3 times a year, but this changed when we booked a room that was run down, stuffy, and had broken hardware in the bathroom; nothing like the Pierpont we were accustomed to.

On a recent stay, we took advantage of the "free" continental breakfast, only to arrive and find a few apples, 4 little yogurt cups, and really crappy coffee. I've had better breakfasts at Mc Donalds...yuk!

Our last stay was back in March, and we did appreciate the Tempur Pedic, fancy schmancy, foamtop bed....it took some getting used to, but it was sooo comfy!

I can think of nicer hotels to stay at in Ventura....the Holiday Inn Express in the Harbor, or even the old Doubletree down Sanjon, but unless we get a killer rate, we won't be staying at the Pierpont Inn any time soon.

Well maintained landmark hotel.  It is right over the freeway so there is some noise.  But a great view of the beach.  Well landscaped.  The restaurant probably has the best gourmet dinner in town.  I prefer the Bella Magiore as a hotel, but this is a close second.  Warm cookies on check in.  A few blocks to old town where all the antique stores and restaruants are.  Bit far from the fairgrounds.

A true regional landmark dating back almost 100 years.  Austen's at the Pierpont deserves to be listed separately as a restaurant, not lumped in with the hotel. Its one of the better dining rooms in Ventura and in 20+ years we've never had a bad dinner or poor service (Well, once, but it was a crowded holiday.)  The rack of lamb and prime rib are usually excellent and generous. Great clam chowder.  The place has changed hands a couple times in recent years but the restaurant has maintained high standards; hopefully the latest change in ownership won't have any negative effects either.

My cousin got married here and it went off without a hitch.

I have to commend them for good planning and follow through.

The wedding coordinator was very organized and the reception was decorated nicely.  I'm happy to report that the Pierpont inn really worked well with all of the other wedding vendors also.

The ceremony was held in a big tent andeven though I hate wedding buffets but I will say that it was fresh warm and decent.  I could have done without the "cinderella cake topper" but that's a different story altogether.
;)
hee heee heee

The wedding cottage my cousin prepped in was really cute and they stayed there that night.

Overall, I can say the Pierpont came through with everything they promised and made my little Bridezilla cousin a happy girl.

GUESS WHAT!  I GOT MARRIED!  I GOT MARRIED HERE!!!!!!!!!!

well...15 years ago and it only lasted about a minute but I come here occasionally for lunch.

I go mainly for the view and because I have a good friend that lives in Ventura. The food is okay but the atmosphere is better. The view to the ocean is breath taking!!!!  The ambiance is elegant and romantic.  It is such a lovely place.

As for a wedding, it's BEAUTIFUL.  A gazebo, a garden, a couple of small little cottages.  It's the bomb!!!!!

PS...    btw.. it's still not too late to get me a wedding gift.  Thanks!!!!

I came here for an after-dinner drink. From the outside it just looked like a hotel. Inside, its a beautiful lodge with stone floors, a fireplace and a very elegant restaurant with linen-covered tables, huge plate-glass windows and a piano filling the room with music.  At this point I wish I had dressed up a little bit more, but I was just there to have a drink.

We ordered a drink at the bar and moved to the lobby area and sat near the fireplace to chat. The bartender was very friendly and the pink martini was yummy.

I love this hotel & its excellent restaurant, and lovely views.

However, the hotel is up for sale, & I've noticed some downgrades. Also the prices have gone up. Once a favorite for an evening martini, I now go to the Crowne Plaza. Austen's bar now serves watered down drinks. For example, their martinis appear to be three quarters of a shot, and their Irish coffee is very poor (no cream, cold & about half of a shot).

Go for the view, not the drinks.

This is one of my favorite hotels in the whole world!  It's so cozy and warm, and has lots of historical charm.  It was built in the early twentieth century in the Craftsman style of building prevalent during that time, and overlooks the rugged and tumultuous Pacific of the Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

I've stayed at this hotel a total of three times, and on each occasion I was overwhelmingly satisfied with the high quality of service, general cleanliness of the facility, and the high level of comfort afforded in my overall stay.  The beds at this hotel are so plush and soft, the pillows are filled with goose feathers, and each night the staff will leave you high quality chocolates by your nightstand.

If you stay at this hotel, be sure to request an ocean view room.  It costs only $10 more per night, and is well worth it considering most rooms average about $125 a night.  That being said, this hotel is on the expensive side, and may not be the most economical choice for some.  However, if you really appreciate nice lodgings, or suffer from bouts of OCD, the Pierpont Inn will definitely make your stay in Ventura a pleasant one and will be worth the splurge.

Also, the upscale Ventura lodgings are a million times cheaper than the upscale ones in Santa Barbara, so it's definitely worth it to stay in Ventura and take the 35-40 minute drive from the hotel to SB.

Plus, if you're into tennis, you can play a couple of rounds at the racquet ball club.

Bonus: Makes for a great vacation with a significant other.  Very romantic, and the cold winter/spring weather is prime for cuddling while sipping hot coco during the evening.

Excellent place to stay in Ventura. I can't remember the last time I stayed at a 'non chain' hotel and the Pierpont really showed me how much better it can be. We LOVED the Tempurpedic beds and want to get one now.

As soon as we walked in my fiance said 'it smells like old people'. lol But that was quickly forgotten.  The beds, service, views are all nice. Plus, what a cool shower!

we went here on 5/25 this was a great place to have sunday brunch.  the biscuit was fresh and yummy while we waited for our meal....the down side was that they already had the jam out on the table!!! the jams weren't covered niether was the cream for the coffee.  other than that there isn't much to complain about.

the positive: the heuvos rancheros was delicious! the
cornmeal pancake was good but not as great as Tower Cafe's in Sacramento.  Service was great, they were very professional!  bcz it was brunch.....you gotta have their mimosa!!!  Yummy!

this was a cute intimate place that had a nice view of their patio (no seating outside though).  although, at some point you can see cars on the freeway.  as one of the yelper said she got married here, i would agree with her that this is a great place to get married at, if you're looking.

My family visited me from out of town for Thanksgiving 2 years ago, so I took them to Pierpont Inn for dinner. It may have just been the occassion, but I was not impressed by the food or service. That could definitely be overlooked by the view and ambiance- very beautiful.

I've met for drinks there once, and it was definitely not for the mid 20's crowd. I think everyone there just came back from Bingo or something?

This is the best hotel on the coast until you get to Monterey.  You don't need a luxury suite when the ocean is right outside. The rooms are big and the restaurant serves really great food. I was here for a sales training back in 1995, I've been back a  few times since. I recommend it.

this review is for Austin's restaurant in the lobby:

i came here for dinner over on saturday night with my partner, my dad, and some old family friends.  our server, robin, was absolutely fantastic.  she was friendly, informative, on it, and totally able to handle our big-ish group.  the food itself was more like three stars.

i ordered the filet mignon wrapped in bacon medium and it came out more medium rare--cold and bloody in the center.  the bacon around it wasn't cooked fully.  my veggies were also undercooked, there were only a few "frizzled onions," and the sides were sparse overall.  my partner ordered the lamb, which was cooked well, but not a great quality cut.  she had to send the side dish--eggplant au gratin--back because it was cold and completely under-cooked.  after she sent hers back, i felt it was too much to send mine back too!

we also had to ask for hot coffee since they served us cold with dessert.  the creme brule was great--the chocolate hazlenut thing and the raspberry thing weren't great.

robin handled all our ups and downs like a pro.  the live music in the bar sounded fantastic.  i would go here again to give it another try--maybe the kitchen was having an off night.

Very good food. A pit pricey. Service was great. We had to wait 30 minutes  to be seated event though we had a reservation. they ended up forgetting about us. They did give us a complimentary order of crab cakes to make up for it.. Would definately go again.

i stay at the pierpont inn when i go to visit my family and its a pretty nice place.

i haven't had dinner there and the breakfast set-up was kinda weird, but then again i go to the vagabond for breakfast normally while i'm in ventura anyhow.

the rooms are clean and there is pool that i'd be willing to swim in.
the staff is nice.

not much else to say....

I don't know, man!  pierpont used to have the best brunch in ventura, with a great dinner selection.  after the re-model, it kind of slipped.  the view is fabulous, of course, and the inn is elegant.  I'm going to have to go with my "don't eat a full meal; just have a glass of wine for the ambiance" standby on this one.
