Wow! I had such an amazing experience here!
On a whim, I drove seven hours from Virginia Beach to Leonardo NJ to see my husband whose ship was stopped at the weapons station. It was getting late. I was tired and hungry. Walking into Piero's was a study in aromatic warmth and friendliness.
We were seated in an intimate little corner. The waiter was ridiculously gracious. Feeling adventurous, I ordered the Drunken Lobster. It was cooked with patron and a myriad of other flavourful mysteries. This
was my first experience with lobster, and I couldn't have been more pleased.
Well, I could rant on and on about this place, but let me just say that we had a wonderful time. The music was nice, the service was better, and the food was some of the best I've ever had. Should I ever find
myself randomly in New Jersey, this will be a necessary stop!!!
I have not been to Piero's in sometime. I remember when it first opened. Since we were new to the area and did not really know the good places to eat it was easy for us to try new places. We first noticed Piero's as we drove up RT 36 everyday on our way to the Parkway from Atlantic Highlands.
We tried it one evening on our way home. The first night it was not crowded and we really enjoyed the dining experience. However, we went back several more times on much more crowded nights and the experience was not nearly as good. We have not been back in some time but I really should give it another shot.
I tried this place after a friend highly recommended it on a recent trip to N.J. Upon entering, I thought it was strange that it was so slow on a Friday night. Someone was singing along to a karaoke machine and walking around the restaurant carrying a wireless microphone, stopping to sing R and B at each table. A little strange in an Italian restaurant. The food was decent. But it was very pricey for what you get in my opinion. I had the chicken francese and it was not that great. Let's just say I couldn't wait to get back home and dine at my beloved Alfredo's, to which all other Italian restaurants are measured against.
