I have not been disappointed yet, good service, nice menu and great food! One of the biggest omelette's I have ever seen, and a great Cesar! The Fish stew was perfect, and $19.00 for a bottle of champagne what could be better?

I have been the Pier 15 a few times now.
I enjoy their breakfast a lot.
I would recommend the Prosciutto Benedict, and the Northern Italian Omelet. I think they have better than average coffee also.

However, the last time I ate there, they ran out of coffee. End of story. No sending an employee to the local grocery to remedy the problem. I like this place over all, but running out of coffee at a breakfast/lunch hour is ridiculous.

Chalk up another one for Toni M. She has a habit of adding places to our 'Weekend List' faster than the hubby and I can try them. But when she scored an ROTD on her review of Pier 15 in December, it became a convenient excuse to check it out while we were running errands before the Holidays.

We would never have run into this place on our own. Located on a side-street, it's kinda divey looking from the outside, which makes it easy to miss. But 'divey' in my experience usually means there's gonna be something addictive on the menu.

The bar area with dining room in front reminds me of a fish camp I used to visit when I lived Back East, though back in the day, I was typically more interested in the beer on tap than the food, so I really can't make any comparisons beyond appearance. The front dining room is rather dark, with a stone fireplace that is not particularly warm, but still appeals to my inner pyro. The service was slow--probably because they don't notice you, what with the dim lighting. But the somewhat plastered women at the adjacent bar kept us entertained while we waited. We had the calamari, onion rings, and a Slim Joe Burger (kind of a patty melt on a baguette). Hubby thought my calamari and onion rings were about perfect. The burger was very good.

We stopped by again today and camped out in the rear dining room, which is bright and has a view of the local marina. The service was as attentive as we like. My turn for comfort food (burger and grilled potatoes), and my luv had the fish & chips. Burgers are reliably good here and the fish was amazingly light and flaky, with absolutely no grease. 'Chips' were thin-cut fries.

It will be easy for us to make this a regular stop during weekend errands. We look forward to having breakfast on the deck out back and enjoying a little boat-watching in warmer weather. Serious fifth star potential here.

I just had lunch there a couple of days ago. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the water and boats. It was a beautiful day. We ordered, the food finally came and it tasted wonderful. But the service was terrible. It felt like I had to drag somebody from the kitchen so they could refill my coffee. No one ever came to pick up our credit card so we needed to find someone near the kitchen again. The only waitress and waiter? were huddled away from the customers, ignoring obvious signaling from other tables for service. After writing this review, I received numerous harassing emails from the owner, Ms Fero. I have decided along with my friend who was with me at the restaurant, not to visit this Pier 15 again.

I used to be friends with one of the owners' son, but anyways, this place is delicious.  Never a disappointing meal here.  have never been at night, only breakfast and lunch.

there is a parking lot and street parking, so they have a valet.  the place is easy to miss if you don't know where it is. it's the street with the ducati dealership.

It's nice to sit on the deck in the summer.

Recommendations:
- fish and chips
- smoked salmon benedict
- carrot cake

I was going to keep this one a secret, but since J.P. already blew it, why not? (Love you Jess)
What's not to love about having brunch here on a Tuesday and the bar being full of whiskey drinkers at  10:00 a.m.
I am partial to waitresses in their golden years who insult me for putting my sauce on the side.
Our lovely waitress kept calling me honey and sweetie muffin and then backhand me with a witty insult.
"Can I get you a warmer on your coffee, honey?"
"Would you like some more water, sweetie muffin?"
Then she insulted me for putting my sauce and unbuttered bread on the side and turned to my mom and says, " At least one of you girls eats."
She is my 75 year old doppleganger. Sweet with just a little bit sour.

Service =perfect
Food = Hot Damn
My favorite is the Prosciutto Benedict with Fresh Tomatoes.
View = keeps it interesting.
exhibit A: man rowing a 12 pack of BUD back to his living barge in the canal, also at 10:00 a.m. on a Tuesday.
Best Tables = outside, where every table has its own umbrella if you can't handle the rays.
Best Brunch Drink = Ramos Fizz (try it, but don't ask what is in it.)
Accepts = cash, check, charge, sarcasm, and witty comebacks.

Hope to not see you there.

My friend lives near the harbor and introduced me to Pier 15. I think the only reason why this place gets publicized is by word of mouth--it's incredibly easy to miss if you're driving around looking for a restaurant.

Their brunches are right on. The eggs benedict with Canadian bacon is to die for. Other great brunches include their French Toast, breakfast burrito, omelettes -- enough choices to satisfy everyone in the family.

There is this one bartender there, and he is super nice. The restaurant really has three parts to it - the bar, the inside area, and the outside deck for those who want to look over the harbor and to enjoy some sun and cool breeze. One time we were there for an afternoon snack and drinks, and we chose to sit outside. It must have been around 3 or 4 pm when restaurants are usually dead, and the bartender was by himself, without any waitstaff or help. The restaurant was pretty packed, and we were grouchy..or actually I was..my boyfriend had kicked my ass by taking me hiking in Muir Woods.  But my bad mood went away as the bartender was super fast, nice, and came running back and forth to take our orders, get our drinks, and serve us. He is Superman.

Service here is great, there's parking all along the restaurant, and they even have a little parking lot. I really like the food, and it's a cute little place to have brunch.

Someone decided to go here for our final work outing of the year before our big Christmas break.  I ordered the clam chowder (which wasn't spectacular but as good as any other clam chowder you can find in SF) and the Northern Italian Omlette.  I don't know if I was just super hungry but the Omlette was mighty tasty and very filling.  Maybe my friend was right, they just starve you until you are hungry and then serve you the food so it tastes mighty good.  Then you hop on Yelp! and give it a great review!

But on a serious note for our large party we waited about 1 hour and 45 minutes for our food and spent about 30 minutes eating.  Not to mention one of our orders got served to someone else, so we had to wait longer for one more order.

Hands down the best breakfast/brunch/lunch spot I think I have ever been to.  The wife tells me I sit there eating my food and never stop saying how good it is.  I love this place.  Eating here on a regular basis has provided us the benefit of samples by chef Mike.  He brought us this apple pastry the other day that was insane.  I loved it so much I couldn't tell him that we already ordered and scarfed one down before he gave us another.
But don't start going here, I like the wait as-is.

Pier 15 is a great place to kick back and enjoy amazing food and warm, friendly service. I have been to the restaurant on several occasions and under different circumstances, and my experience is always great. The menu is wonderful. Everything I've eaten (including what I order and what I eat off of everyone else's plates) is delicious, and tastes fresh and flavorful. The staff is super friendly and provides a relaxed and comfortable environment. On sunny weekends I love to sit out on the deck over the water, and take advantage of the build your own Bloody Mary bar. A Bloody along with the Harbor Omelet is my favorite way to recharge after a "big" night. I love this place!

Wow, what a find. I ate here for lunch the other day and was impressed in so many ways. First, I've been living in San Rafael going on eight years now and had no idea this gem was tucked away amid industrial backstreets behind car dealerships, auto shops and the like.

My lunch mate and I were impressed by the full bar and decor in the front room: cozy and funky with obvious regulars saddled up to the counter enjoying whiskeys and microbrews. Big bonus right there -- I expected Bud, Bud Lite, Miller, Miller Lite, Coors, Coors Lite, and maybe they'll throw me a bone with something "exotic" like Sam Adams lager or Heinekin. Thank you, Pier 15, for having a great selection of Lagunitas, Red Hook and others I've now apparently forgotten.

But we bee-lined to the back patio, the main reason we were there: We wanted beers, burgers and patio dining on a hot spring day. Now, if you sit in just the right way, you'll look down the canal at the boats, the water and the birds and you'll get a better feeling of openness. I sat on the other side, so I got a better look at the freeway and across the canal at a strip mall. And that's the only reason it loses a star -- because you're pulled a bit out of the ambiance you're after.

We both ended up with the Kobe burgers and fries, both of which were highly memorable and among Marin's best. The food was fresh, fast, cooked to our specifications -- and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back. I'm not sure how I'm going to taste other things here, because I want that Kobe burger again.

The service, too, was excellent. Our waitress came by exactly when we needed her to. It was a light day (despite the gorgeous weather), and all the way out back we easily could have been forgotten.

Oh, and no smoking on the back patio is a HUGE bonus. It's relatively tight quarters, and there simply aren't enough places in San Rafael where I can sit on a patio and enjoy a beer or cocktail to begin with, let alone without smoke blowing in my face. Huge, huge bonus. I can see myself becoming a regular.

A good burgers in Marin....  Nice dining outside on the deck that overlooks the water and inside nice seating as well.  Full bar, good drinks, pool table, big fireplace.. and if you like sports they always have at least 3 TV playing current games and you can eat at the bar as well.

Big juicy 1/2 pound burger grilled, with onions, and choice of cheese on a hunk of sourdough bread and choice of either fries, potatoe salad, or cole slaw $8.95

PS... I understand from several people that the Crab Benedict on their breakfast/brunch menu is good as well.

Interesting old place hidden in the run-down industrial, back harbor of east side San Rafael, Been here since the1960's. Attracts a working man's crowd.

Live music on week-end nights.

Their specialty drink is Budweiser in the bottle.

I've eaten here a few times when playing guitar with the band. They have burgers, steaks, a big salad, a soup. Portions are large enough to satisfy a burly Harley rider or a tough working fisherman.

You'll be served by a friendly enough, totally matter-of-fact woman who has seen it all & done it all, twice.

This place is a slice of real Americana that is dying off to be replaced by KorpKuisine (tm) fakery.

There's a outdoor patio around the back where you can smoke, but the view is working harbour, urban ugly.

For those like myself who haven't discovered this treasure, now is the time!  Right off Francisco Blvd, on the water, is a delightful, pleasant dining space.  Due to my fellow yelpers and also a good review in the IJ Weekend, Pier 15 has been calling my name for a couple of months.  We got there at around 7:00 or so and were escorted to a great table with a fantastic view of the harbor and all the sailboats...I tell ya it felt just like being in Tiburon or Sausalito....with a little more sunshine and prices easier on my pocketbook.  This place also has outside seating and I cannot wait to come back to have brunch in the sunshine!  So exciting.....

Our waitress was the kind of waitress you'd see in the movies.  Short, surly, and adorable.  She gave us just the right amount of attitude to keep us laughing, and we never waited too long for anything, but  being the younger generation she teased us that we were in too much of a hurry, which, was true!

The food was pretty good, but the one thing we all agreed on was the french fries!  They were so freakin' good, and the ribs we shared as an appetizer were meaty and spicy, even my Texan rib-lovin' man couldn't find fault.  My chicken sandwich was nothing special, good, but not spectacular.  Overall the experience was fantastic and I am looking to returning to try new menu items, especially the brunch items, which, I've heard, are simply the best!

I highly recommend this restaurant for an early dinner, since they stop serving at 9:00, or as a lunch or brunch stop.    Good eats!

We go to this place at least once a week and they treat you like family.  The food and service are always quite good.  On nice days it is great to sit out on the deck.

I highly recommend the following:
-Huevos Rancheros
-Crab anything:  Sandwich, Omelette or salad
-Burgers, they are always perfectly cooked
-Reuben
-Fish & Chips, not greasy at all, they have an amazing batter that they use.  I can't eat most F&C cause they wreck my stomach with the grease.

BTW, Jessica is best.

Not a bad Sunday brunch joint. Yes, it has the outside look of a dive bar, but inside is all good. The menu, while limited, focuses just on the good stuff. Had a Northwest Omelet: Smoked Salmon and sour cream and capers, served open faced on the omelet, with potatoes, fruit, and a sourdough baguette from the grill.  My wife had the Prosciutto and Tomato Benedict, with a hearty approval rating.

The deck looked great, with a surprisingly nice view: who knew the harbor in San Rafael could look so nice? The wind kept us inside, though. Service was prompt and friendly.

Overall, nothing to complain about, and decent food. Parking was a bit tough, with a limited parking lot and few nearby spaces available (the industrial setting made sure of that). Still, with a full bar attached, it's kind of a throwback to the East Coast seaside places you've always known.

Worth a visit to judge for yourself. Don't sweat the part of town: on a weekend day, there's hardly a soul there.

The Eggs Benedict with the house-made prosciutto were wonderful and better than what I had at Mama's. They have some good pancake dishes.

No lines like at Mama's and breakfast is served until 5pm.

There is a nice outdoor deck on the marina that should be nice when the weather is warm.

Just a mile from my workplace is this oddity that's called Pier 15. After a few wrong turns to find the restaurant, I was personally intimidated by the location - a little marina in an industrial part of San Rafael. I was even more intimidated when I had to make a forced entry through a dark dive bar into the restaurant with those glaring Harley men. Oddly, the brightest part of the entire space is the restaruant.

Nonetheless the breakfast menu looks amazing. 5-6 different choices of benedicts, and a variety of pancakes & french toasts. Sadly they ran out of my choice cinnamon brioche, so I opted for chocolate french toast which was tasty.

After reading the "rave" reviews on Yelp, my wife, my 14 month old son and I couldn't wait to give this place a try. We sat in the back outside area, it had a nice funky vibe and this is why I'm giving this place 2 stars. First off, the person who took our order made a couple of mistakes and so when our food finally arrived, my wife's plate had to be sent back and I had to start without her, that always makes a meal feel awkward. Secondly, her hot cakes were burnt. I ordered the steak sandwich with a side salad - there was more greens on my sandwich than the amount of "salad" that they put on my dish, and it came along with a ton of dressing and honestly the sandwich was just alright. Then to top it all off, it was sunny and hot and we were sitting under one of the big umbrellas in the back, and all of a sudden because they were filming an episode of some food network program, this guy came and took all the umbrellas away without even asking if it would be cool...and so we were left sitting in the hot midday sun with a baby while the people running the place catered to these TV guys. Maybe they're gonna be on that show "Places that Suck!"

I grew up eating here with my grandpa back in the day, and happily rediscovered it as an adult when I worked near by. Its an ideal happy hour location because you can drink on the back deck in the sunshine. New owners changed up the menu, and its now more expensive...but the great deck makes it all worth it.

We get our bikes serviced right across the street at Hattar Motors. Little did I know this great restaurant and bar (on a pier!) was a few steps away! I was starving one morning and needed some serious fuel for the ride back, so we stopped in to have breakfast. It was a nice sunny day so we opted to sit right outside by the water which turned out to be so peaceful. My bf and I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with eggs and coffee. It was delicious and service was great too! Who woulda known this little gem was located across the street from a motorcycle dealership?

Went here with a friend on Sunday early afternoon and sat out on the deck. Sweet! So, my friend orders the Kobe burger rare-medium rare, and actually got it that way! First time that's happened in a long time when I've been there.

All the food at everyone's tables looked fantastic, and our server, while not super-on-top of it, was super chill. We never had to wait, we just had to ask for stuff (napkins, silverware, wipe down the table).

After lunch we headed in to the bar for another drink (they have a pretty good selection of draft beer, and full bar).

Also, I'll be back to try the mix-your-own bloody mary station.

Wow! I had breakfast here for the first time with my husband and a friend and all of us absolutely loved our meals! In fact we could not stop talking about the great food and service. The fruit was deliciously ripe on my cinnamon chocolate French toast and the potatoes were yummy.  The owner and server were gracious and accommodating as they recommended items to try (like their home-made preserves)...delicious. What caught my attention the most  (as we walked in) were the smiles of  Ferol, (one of the owners),  the chef and staff.  We felt welcome and at home (which is definitely not the case in a lot of restaurants).
The ambience was cheerful and sunny as we gazed out over the water and watched birds fly by. We also enjoyed the colorful tablecloths and flowers on the deck. The only thing that keeps me from giving an absolute 5/5 rating (I would give a 4++ right now) is the need for fresh-squeezed orange juice...this would have made our meal perfect.  Nevertheless, this is a gem of a place to relax, stretch in the sun and have great food. My compliments to the chef and owner. Thank you for a lovely breakfast after a hard week of work.
I will definitely come back and will bring friends and family. I am hooked.

After reading a review of this place in the Chronicle a few weeks ago (one the owners is also an owner of Mama's, home of super yummy breakfast in Northbeach) we decided to venture to this out of place restaurant in San Rafael.  We were hoping for the true taste of Mama's, and although we didn't get it, it was still pretty good.  The service was atrocious and decor appealed to the dive queen in me, but the food and coffee were pretty darn good and it is kid friendly (note to self).  I had the huevos rancheros and the husband had the french toast.  So it wasn't Mama's, but hey, we didn't have to wait 1+ hours to get in.  We got seated right away.

Alan and I debated whether it was 3.49 or 3.51 and the latter won, rounding it up to 4, but it's really 3 1/2..  I love the location.  Wharf-type restaurants speak to me.  Any time I can sit outside on a deck and watch boats bobbing in the water, I'm there.  We found parking on the street and walked through the bar back to the deck.  Nice vibe throughout.  We were seated and given menus and it took 10 minutes or more before a waitress approached.  Once contact was made, service was good.  Alan noticed that they made Ramos Fizzes and I decided to order one.  Haven't had one for decades, but it sounded good.  We determined that the calamari came w/ tentacles and we ordered some.  It arrived w/ tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and my Ramos Fizz and was very tasty.  So was the drink.  Alan ordered a prawn quesadilla and I ordered a bar burger, rare, no mayo, w/ grilled onions.  It arrived w/ mayo and no onions so I sent it back w/o even checking the doneness.  It returned as ordered and was medium rare, which was fine.  My appetite is still not what it usually is, so Alan had several bites.  It came w/ a very nice slice of tomato and a dill pickle spear, which always annoys me because I like pickle slices, but that's just me.  The waitress came later and apologized for the kitchen's error.  The hamburger was very good.  The bun, not the best I've had, but OK.  All in all it was a cool place and we will return.  Two of my favorite pastimes in restaurants are eavesdropping on others' conversations and people watching and this was top notch.  There were three older guys eating lunch at the far end of the deck.  Their voices carried well enough to hear what they were talking about and the conversation ranged from brown bears to Steve Fossett to bougainvillea and then our food came and I lost track.  It's an easy walk from the Lexus dealer that services my car and will be another nice lunch option when it's being worked on.

This restaurant has been a favorite of mine in all its incarnations. The food is much better under the current ownership. (The drinks are not the bargain they used to be - minus 1 star) Dining on the deck is delightful and if you're lucky enough to get Carole for your waitress, you'll be well taken care of and further entertained. The lunch specials, burgers, benedicts and the Northern Italian omelette are all terrific.

After opening and closing for a number of years, I do believe The Pier is finally back! This is a very comfortable, neighborhood place. The menu has been fine-tuned, and it offers plenty of variety. They have a good selection of salads, fabulous burgers, and the day's special is almost always very well prepared and tasty. They do a great job on things Italian, too. My only comment is that when the new owners took over (about a year ago) the drinks got smaller and more expensive. One of the best things about the Pier is Carole, the waitress. Anyway, the neighborhood is delighted that The Pier is back. And, this time, to stay.  PS- If they have the Heirloom tomato salad on the menu, go for it!

What an oddly located place. My husband & I invited friends to meet us here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It's set up a bit strangely and we didn't notice the back section until someone pointed it out.
The service was good & friendly (even though we overstayed our welcome chatting) the food was even better and reasonably priced for the amount & quality. I would definitely make this a regular stop for breakfast and I'm looking forward to trying lunch.

went back for lunch had a burger on a baguette with fries.. d-lish can't wait to go back again and try more food! 4.5 stars!!!

***UPDATE - 6/18/09 Ordered lunch to pick up, specifically stated NO onion, ketchup or mayo - asked for my burger to be cooked medium; I received a more than well done burger with onion & ketchup couldn't really take the onion off as they were grilled onto the cheese, so long cheese... did I mention I hate ketchup?  ANd is a burger really a burger if it is void of all the juices in the meat? I could have gotten a jucier burger at BK for oh so much less money! Things have gone downhill since my last visit and looking at recent posts of this place I think others concur. Also, the staff seemed to be confused when I asked for my order, there isn't really a place to pick up a to go order, I assumed the bar would be the right place (it's right across from the kitchen) but I had to go back to the diner part and wait on the server.
Don't know if I'll return cause really how hard is it to screw up a cheese burger? Changing my rating from 4.5 to 3 stars

I went there for weekday lunch and sat on the patio which was lovely with bouganvillas and umbrellas for those who want shade.
The crab sandwich on sourdough is out of this world! I also tried a bite of the steak sandwich, also very good.  A delightful place and great food!

My mother raved about Pier 15's brunch, but a drive-by one evening initially convinced me she was crazy.  Especially by night, Pier 15, located in the canal district behind all the car dealerships, looks like a mildly sketchy dive bar.

GIVE IT A SHOT.  No doubt the place is funky - the decor is almost laughable (if you enter via the front, bar entrance, you pass by an ancient barber's chair of all things).  There's a waitress who will good-naturedly yell at you for ordering something you could "make at home".  Overall the staff is prompt and friendly, service fast and ambiance casual and fun.  Outdoor seating (in season) is ideal.

The food is surprisingly good.  You expect, given appearances, diner-style food.  Most of the choices will match up with this perception, but the attention to detail and quality really come through.  It's sneakily gourmet.  The pancake recipe (kept secret from even the wait staff) is a standout.  There's a great choice of scrambles and benedicts and a few other sweet items (try the Berry Dore!).  At 11:30 they start serving lunch items, sandwiches and salads, and they are equally impressive.  The reuben is my personal favorite, and the "Mama's Cristo" is a unique twist on the Monte Cristo and served with jam.  Fries are crispy and good like they should be and onion rings are incredible.  The great bartender is an added bonus.

I've only been once for dinner.  They keep the items on the lunch menu and add some italian favorites.  It was very solid, and I would recommend it, but the brunch is really the star.

This is a hidden little gem!!!  The brunch on the weekends can't be beat.  I'v been there many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have not found anything on the menu that I don't like.  Their crab louis salad is really good!  The burgers are the best in Marin (at least in my opinion).  I go out of my way to go here when I can.  I love the relaxed atmosphere and the great food.

A hidden GEM!  WOW!  I ordered something NOT EVEN on the menu - and they made it (GLADLY) for me!  - VERY accommodating, to say the least!  Fun BAR CROWD & great Happy Hour Specials!  The outdoor patio is relaxing and makes you feel like you are FAR FROM the area! THE BEST onion rings in Marin County!!  Many TAP beers from which to choose!  Kid friendly, too!  Days with live music are a plus!  - Days when the marinera sauce is "stewing and brewing" are a SPECIAL treat for the nasal passage!  Recently discovered it - and have been AGAIN and AGAIN!!

Delicious!  My husband and I decided to try this place based on other Yelp reviews and were delightfully surprised.  When you drive up to the place, it looks like it's going to be a total dive, and not a nice restaurant on the water.  BUT, once you get inside and move to the back where the dining area is, you see how nice it actually is.  There is an open air porch where you can eat outside on the water, or stay cozy inside.  I had the chocolate cinnamon french toast with super fresh raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries, and my husband had huevos rancheros and was so happy to find the eggs poached.  He loves huevos rancheros and especially loves poached eggs, so with the combo, it was perfect!  We also ordered mimosas, which were great.  The only weird thing was that they brought us a glass, some oj, and a one serving bottle of champagne each, so we had to make the mimosas ourselves.  Not sure what this is all about, but it ended up being kind of fun and they were yummy for sure.  Overall, this is a great place for breakfast/brunch.  Just get over the way it looks from the outside....

we went there on our way to peanuts on parade in santa rosa. we were seated next to the window with a view of the pier. my friend read about the place before going and she recommended us to order the french toast and benedicts. 3 of us shared the proscuitto with fruit. the breakfast was marvellous. portion was not small. husband and i couldn't even finish up the two breakfasts (one proscuitto benedict and one chocolate french toast). maybe we went there before 11, it took them some time to have the dishes made. that's the one star i took off.
