I don't know how I didn't do a review for here before now

I have been coming to Piecora's since way before I moved to the hill

I love the pizza here and I get cravings for it, just had me a left over piece for breakfast, nothing like Piecora's for Breakfast along with a Mtn Dew, also they sell pizza by the slice

we did a Queens whole Pizza last night wanted to make sure I had Breakfast leftovers, and if my partner doesn't get up soon I may eat the other piece as ti is calling to me

we we don't do Pizza I like to get a Shrimp salad with there Honey mustard dressing (home made at that) it is big enough to split, then we usually get the Lasagna.
and this is the only place I have even gotten the Lasagna more than once as most places can't make it and have it hold together and have the right taste it small batches these guys have it down pat

but

I love the pizza and salad at piecoras. They have a great lunch special.
Prices are relatively typical seattle pizza prices 20+ for a pizza.
I don't think I would say anything in particular stands out about this place, there is no real original taste. I think I am a fan because I feel like they have been around for so long. It is good pizza. All ways had great service.
With that said, I have to report my experience last night. We ordered a calzone (sausage, mushroom, olive) and a piecoras special salad.
I don't know if the cook was a vegetarian or what but there was little to no sausage, the calzone was crammed way to full of ricotta. And there was way too much bread. It was tasteless and I would not recommend ordering a calzone.
Other wise they would not have lost a few stars.

My hubby meet for lunch and had been wanting to try this place. I am glad he picked me up because this place would have been a pretty far walk from work. It is a nice hole in the wall place. The guys there were super friendly. You have so many options to chose from not only the toppings but the size you want. Being so indecisive I was glad I had someone with me! You can order pizza by the slice, by the half or a whole. We went for the half so we can share it. We tried their Queens which is pepperoni, Italian sausage and meatballs. It took quite some time to get the order, it was lunchtime and I was hungry!
The pizza came out looking gorgeous. It was really good, my only complaint other then the long cook time was that the dough could have been cooked just a little longer but oh my did it taste good. I have to say so far the best pizza dough that have graced my lips.
I think next time I will try their combo, I saw it coming out to another table and it looked awesome!

This place has disappointed me 2 for 2 times!! The food is delicious, don't get me wrong. The service is TERRIBLE on all fronts.

I went into the restaurant for my first experience. My roomate and I were sititng at the table when a big drop fell on my head. We looked up and there were massive drips coming down from the ceiling. We politely notified our waiter who looked at us if we were being rude or overly complainy. Maybe its not a big deal to have water leaks in restaurants? No, he did not ask if we wanted to move or offer any sort of other help. So we stayed in the same place feeling like maybe we were out of line and continued to have more drips fall on us and in our food. We decided we better ask to move and when we did well we were just the most awful customers in the world. Seriously???

The second experience came last night my friends and I ordered a Large Pizza and Salad. We don't live more than 5 minutes away from Piecoras and they said it would take no more than 45 minutes to deliver. After an hour we decided to call and they said they were on their way. The pizza we had been so patiently waiting for arrived luke warm like it had been sitting out for a while and not only that but my crust on the end was cold and soggy. YUCK!!

For how expensive it is, the taste really should match the service. That is, if its still warm.

I can't believe I lived on Capitol Hill for 6 years before finally coming in.  Pizza and salads are the best I have had in town by far! The setting also  really fills a niche: cozy and unpretentious  with sports on the TV (no sound).

We had Piecora's last night and again they hit the mark for good pizza in Seattle. Is it like being in NYC or Chicago, no, but darn good pizza. The place was packed Sunday night and we were seated right away. Our apps and pizza came out very fast. The garlic cheese bread is to die for and eat enough and you will probably get your wish. We ordered a whole pie with half meatball and half pepperoni. While I'm not the biggest mb lover as it is in chunks, their pepperoni was very good. Fun place, a little noisy, which is good with kids. We take our friends from out of town here all the time. Good value, as 3-4 adults could split the big $15.95 pizza. Only nit pick is they sometimes get other toppings in your pizza that you didn't request. Nothing major, just watch out for that rogue onion next time your order :-)

Piecoras! You have such great New York Pizza, but why are you so pricey? Your place is filled with singles and friends, but why not lower your prices for families? Better yet, why not fill that parking lot once again on Mondays with your half off night? Its been so empty lately. Our family took our business over to Olympia Pizza on 15th. We can get side salads, drinks, garlic bread and an awesome pizza for the same price as one of your whole pizzas.......and they heap on the toppings. We are sad to say goodbye to Piecoras, but...........

My friend and I were on the hill and we had the hankering for some cheese covered carbs. Enter Piecora's.

After both our mouths started watering when the table next to us received their ginormous baked calzones bursting with toppings, we decided to split a Hawaiian calzone and an order of garlic cheese bread.

I'll say this about Piecora's, the food was good. Really though, with garlic, cheese and carbs, it's hard to go wrong in my book.

The service on the other hand was severely lacking. Our sever never greeted us, instead he pulled a mime and stood at our table without addressing us, but just raised his eyebrows in our general direction. Was this our cue to order? We took it as one and stated what we would like to eat and he just continued looking at us for a few minutes before walking away. Honestly, I wasn't entirely sure if we were even going to get our food. To my surprise, our food did arrive, but we didn't see our water again until we had finished our meals and someone else had bussed our plates. Our table was completely cleared off when he showed up again to say, "Whoa, did you guys eat everything?" An attempt at humor or did he really think we ate our plates and silverware?  There's no telling.

There's plenty of other places to grab a slice or calzone on the hill without having to deal with bad service. I'd come back for takeout, but wouldn't entertain the crazies by dining in again.

Best, and been the best for 30 years.  Tell 'em Big Frank with a Smile sent you.  In contrast to the other reviewer, I like finding an errant topping that's wandered over to the wrong side of the pie, it's kinda like finding an easter egg, and it's always been somthing delicious that's found it's way over to my half, never an anchovy, or one of those damn California toppings from the Jeffro's, dude, seriously, don't put broccoli on a pizza!

Aw Piecora, you've gotten plenty of flack for trying to hold up to the 'original' NY style pizza, and perhaps for some people it may be deserved.  Not to this foodie, it isn't, especially now that Food Detectives has done a stand-up job of proving that NY pizza quality really IS unique to NY (something to do with the water; consult Ted Allen for details).

My awesome blossom Fobert took me here for a quick early dinner and we definitely were not disappointed.  We grabbed a whole pizza with mushrooms and sausage, an order of chicken wings, and a couple of beers.  Price was just right, we were seated right away, and the joint just exudes that chill vibe of this part of Seattle that I have inexorably fallen in love with.

Pizza needed a bit more seasoning (salt in the crust, spices in the sauce perhaps?), but otherwise it was excellent.  Cheese was lovely, just the right amount and ideal melting, and the toppings were neither skimpy nor overbearing.  Piecora's has such a wide variety of draught and bottled beers that you just straight up cannot go wrong.

-1 star because our server (or someone somewhere down the line) evidently forgot to put in our wings order.  After flagging somebody down to help us out, she took care of it...  after we'd already started pigging out on the pizza.  Thankfully they were small-ish and really tasty -- worth the wait, but not sure if it's worth the price.

Next time I'm in Cap Hill I am totally coming back here, and inviting all my Seattle-based friends (new AND old) to join me for a pre-party type of dinner outing.

i realized last night that this is the only place i go for pizza or "italian" food in seattle. although i don't claim to know anything about the authenticity of the food, i come here for the servers and atmosphere, as well as location.

i heart/crave the piecora's special salad....loaded with salami and ham. homemade dressings = delicious. ask the sweet server celeste to sub spinach if you dig that kind of thing. i'm not sure if she owns the joint or what but she's been there forever and always treats me like family and i never have to ask for a refill.

i've been here 200+ times and this is a great place to come with friends on a friday night for cocktails or with your kids on sunday evening.

In a town that has been taken over by the Napoli pizza craze, Piecora's still stands as a Capitol/First Hill institution for no nonsense pies.

The NY style crust (which can also get extra thin!) has just the right amount of crunch to chew factor.  They have all of your standard toppings, the pies are huge, and they have a full bar.

When I went in to pick up my pizza's yesterday, there was this older couple (I mean they both looked like they were in their 80's) in one of the booths sharing a nice salad waiting for their pizza to come out.  I was commenting to myself about how it was cute that the table came up to their chins (you know how old folks shrink as they age),   The Killers were blaring over the stereo and the ever tattooed servers were bustling around barking out orders and yet these two folks were casually going about their "date night" soaking in everything around them.  Either that or they couldn't hear a damn thing going on.

Anyway, if the pizza is good enough for this cute old couple, it's good enough for you.

First off, this is NOT NY Style pizza. The pizza at Piecora has a much thicker dough than a typical NY pizza, so if you're looking for the thinner style go somewhere else.

Second, the toppings they use are scant (ie, I think i counted about 2-3 slices of pepperoni on each slice) and they don't know how to distribute the toppings properly. I used to work at a pizza parlor growing up and it doesn't take a lot to know that the pizza shrinks in the oven and toppings migrate towards the center so you can't just place toppings radomly or else you end up with a pie with a bunch of toppings in the center and not much left on the rest of the pizza.

Third, the service just plain out stinks. I was told 15 min, ummm, but we waited over an hour for our take out order. I'd understand if it were deep dish pizza but its not, its supposed to be NY pizza that should in reality only take about 10-15 min to cook.

Fourth, its expensive. For 1 combo pizza and 1/2 veggie pizza with a small garden salad our bill was over $50.

Overall, Piecora is way over rated, over priced, and simply, it just aint that good, I've had better and plan to never go back.

On a flip side, it is a cool joint with a unique ambience (ie, type of grunge esque with a flair unique to Capital Hill), but thats as much good I can say about the place.

Last Tuesday I was jonesing for some Piecora's so my husband stopped by to order a pizza to go.  BIG MISTAKE.  It took 45 MINUTES to get that one large pizza with 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 extra cheese.  On a Tuesday. Really?  The people behind the counter were screwing off most of the time and didn't care about service.  I could have walked down the street, ordered from a different pizza place, and walked back in the time it took to get this one pizza.

It will be a long, LONG, time before I go back.  Piecora's, I'm disappointed in you.

I love pizza. It is by far my favorite food. I don't know about you, but I usually pick where I am going to eat based on the type of food I am in the mood for. When I am in the mood for pizza I go to Piecora's. For me there is somethign about Sunday at 3pm that just says pizza (with crusts dipped in ranch) and a cold beer (and sometimes a salad). I drive from North Seattle all the way to Piecora's. Plus it has that pizzeria feel that I love. Now if only they would make Sundays all you could eat!!!!!!

I've been here a few times, and it's always for group dinners. I am always served well, however this time was no exception.

Our server Kevin totally rocked it--he was funny and totally new York, and made my friends birthday dinner.

Bang for the buck was high, and food quality, as always, was high. One small issue was getting the appetizer with the  meal instead of before...but that's not really too big a deal.

Stopped in for lunch since we were starving. Ordered a Combo half-pie, Greek salad and meatballs. The service and food was definitely quick and customers started to pack the place around 1230pm.

The pizza was ok but nothing special. Toppings were freshly sliced but too bad one of our slices were missing over half the toppings. Greek salad and meatballs were standard fare and employees were nice. Down side...we weren't offered a beverage refill,

Not our first choice for pizza but it's definitely the closest if we need a quick bite.

OK, I went back. Not my decision, one of the crowd needed food, we were at Chop Suey, and he thinks this place is, "the bomb."

"The bomb." I remember the first time I heard that phrase. Back in high school. I'm 35 this year. Yeah.

We got seated, and got attention, all relatively quickly. I was surprised, considering my last visit here left me wishing I had dropped trousers and shit on their table rather than paid for my food. I got smart this time and just ordered a plain slice o' cheese, but it did the trick, and actually seemed a little fresher: the cheese didn't resemble old elmer's glue that's been stuck to the top of an elementary school desk. It was actually hot and melted.

Our server was a pretty cool dude, wish I had caught his name. He was attentive right up until the end; we finally wound up heading to the cash register to pay as we had to get out to get to our show and didn't want to wait anymore.

This place now rates back up at 'Ok.' I'd like to come here and catch a show in their backroom and see how it goes.

So -- that's saying something: "I'd like to come back here...."

I have never actually had real New York style pizza. *Gasp!* I know.
So I have nothing to say about whether it taste like it or not. I don't really care either. I love pizza! Its rare there's is a pizza I dislike.
I was close by recently waiting to see The Flood at Neumos. For some reason a pizza and a few beers before a show just makes the night more complete.
This place is much bigger on the inside that it appears! I like the big comfy booths. The tables are so high I feel like a little kid again staring with big eyes at my big gooey pizza almost at nose level. (I'm pretty short BTW.) I make a mental note when everyone else at the table says "mmmm, this is really good, best pie/food I've had in awhile."
And that's what the other three eating with us in fact did say!
Service was fast and friendly as well. Salad was fresh. It's not overpriced, these days that deserves a star in itself.
The next time I'm in the area for another show I think I'll arrive early to make a detour to Piecora's for some more pizza and beer, yum.

Average in every way.  I've been here twice with large groups and while they're very accomodating and the service is attentive, the food is pretty unremarkable.

The IPA recommended by the attractive waiter was excellent, but the 4 or 5 pizzas I've tried were doughy and uninspired.  We also got salad and cheesy bread which tasted like they could have come from any other pizza place (Sbarro?).

Checkered tablecloths, tons of New York paraphernalia on the walls, and Dean Martin playing in the background work to transport you to...a mediocre pizza place on Madison.

Piecora's is hands-down my favorite pizza place in Washington. The atmosphere is non-fussy, the staff are attentive and easy- going, and the pizza is consistently delicious. I love a simple cheese pizza, and my from-ny boyfriend and I love going to Piecora's to sastify our pizza cravings. The crust is perfect (not too hard or soft), the sauce is tasty, and there is plenty of cheese to satisfy our cheese pizza cravings. Honestly before eating Piecora's I wasn't super into pizza, but now I find myself craving cheese pizzas all the time!

I really like this place.  Great pizza as long as you don't get too fancy.  I had the Manhattan and I did not like it however, the normal cheese and pepperoni pizzas are good.

What makes this place stand out is the price.  I've been going here for the past year while studying at the nearby university and I find it is a great place to get drunk for cheap.  Ask for the Boundry Bay, It's a dark beer but it does not have that sweet 'dark beer' bite at the end.  After a pint or two you'll have to hang out a little while before you drive anywhere.

In the category of general pizza joints in Seattle: 4-4.5 stars  I have also experienced the floating delivery line issue.

In the category of greasy NY wannabe pizza in Seattle; 5 stars 'good as it gets'   - along with MapleLeaf's NY Pizza, and HotMama's.

First, to my fellow former NewYorkers:  Any place outside of NYC claiming to be NYC pizza just ain't going to cut it (especially the further away from NY you get), so set your standards accordingly before kvetching.   Especially in a place like Seattle where cheese sometimes gets put on after toppings, and pineapple isn't the only fruit that gets put on pizza    (All-Purpose Pizza in Leschi, I'm looking at you and your APPLES, *whisper*...and I love them, ...but that's another yelp...*wink*).

Piecora's has a special place in my heart: this was my neighborhood joint,  my highschool lunch break place, and that of my Rebel co-horts, back in the day.

Big fat greasy thin slices from handthrown pies, not too expensive, dripping pepproni-juice on vinyl tablecloths with cheesy psuedo-italian music playing for ambiance (hardly a thing has changed in 20-ish years, either).     Also, FYI: We either called it Pee-AhCora's or PuhCoras back then.  None of this PIE-coras BS.

These days I may trade beer for root beer, but it's still the reliable P'cora's I knew then:  except the service has actually improved a lot, which I mourn.   I'd rather have more saucy be-tattoed hair-dye chippies with the "are you going to order anything else??!"™ charm than the nice young pretty-boy fellows serving the last night I was there.   It goes better with the pie.
Oh, and the cheese bread sucks - as bad as the cheesy NYC posters, and that's part of the experience.   This isn't gourmet pizza, and if you walked in the door thinking it would be, I've got a bridge to sell you.

NYC folk:  Mostly reminds me of the pizza place below the Woodside stop on the 7 train, the one a block west from 'Sinner's and Saints' and Dominicks:  greasy, plastic/elastic, drips down to your elbow thin sloppy pizza, only best if eaten in-person, while still burn-your-lips hot.  That place also had garlic knots: still haven't seen those in Seattle.   PizzaBoy I think is the place (though I'd order delivery from or dine in at Donato's, where they make their own wine).  Good stuff.    (Not to say that joint was the best: best pie in NY I had was in Bushwick, near Maria H. Park; Tony O's...  )

I think it's safe to say at this point; I digress.

P'Cora's = Low class, high-attitude, unique-experience pizza in Seattle.  Do your never-been-to-NYC, RedBaron-loving tongue a favor and try this instead.

My boyfriend and I first went here for a show his friend was having in the back room. We ate before, but all our other friends ate there, and really enjoyed it, so like 6 months later we FINALLY made it back to try the food.

We were both craving pizza so we split one with sausage and mushroom. I was sad that I forgot to ask for thin crust(which you would think would be an automatic at a NY style pizzeria, but its not) but I was not disappointed at all. The pizza was quite good, not the best I have ever had, but definitely good enough. I would go there again if I was in the area. What made it even better... the ranch. omg they had great ranch dressing for dipping.

Lastly, they have blue moon on tap, so whats not to love?!?!?!

Our waitress was somewhat rushed and not very attentive, but she was nice enough. They have TV's all over so we were able to watch Rambo 3 with no sound, which was pretty awesome

I grew up out east (Pittsburgh) and spent several months living in Manhattan. It probably goes without saying that I like my pizza thin, and cut into big floppy slices. Piecora's got that part right, but what they didn't get right was the crust: it was crisp as a saltine cracker. My slices were so crisp that they would've shattered like dinner plates if I tried to fold them over. That right there is enough to ruin a good pie. Homie definitely does not play that.

This place is a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside so they do well with groups but the wait staff are always busy and hurried and the pizza is really mediocre at best. I mean honestly I'll eat anything covered in cheese but even then, it wasn't all that tasty.

I wouldn't go back unless I had to for a birthday or something. I'd rather walk the 5 blocks down to Via Tribunali for some quality pizza.

I had three people ask for my umbrella while walking to the Chop Suey on Tuesday night. I said "no" to every one who asked, "no" is a hard word for me.

I also committed my first real crime other than jaywalking... I stole a band poster on the window of a venue...

I was feeling so liberated that I knew tonight was the night to finally try Piecora's. Why not walk on the wild side a little?

New York Style Pizza has always had a ton of connotions for me, especially after actually having NYC style, in New York!
So after having Hot Mama's and not being as impressed as everyone else in Seattle, I was taking the whole thing far too seriously.

We slid into a booth and waters were promptly dropped off. Our order was taken, house salad, a Boundary Bay Scotch Ale, two slices of cheese and ham and one slice of pepperoni for the lady.

The slices and salad came out quickly, fresh, fluffy, flavorable crust, and lots of the good stuff.... CHEESE. One of the cooks brought our order out and regaled us with stories about how he likes to draw funny faces on all the band posters he sees around town and how hard it was for him to resist doing the same to the ones on Piecoras' walls.

Then we ended up having to ask our server three times for our beer, which we didn't get until we were almost finished with our meal. His reasoning was that the hostess wasn't 21 so couldn't run the drink, however I worked at two restaurants when I was under 21 and after I turned 18, not only could I run all my drinks but I could also pour wine, so unless the laws in King County have changed over the last 6 years, our server was telling a little fibby fib.

But he was gracious about it and even though we didn't ask, he took one of the slices off our final bill.

The clientele are varied and interesting and the prices aren't frightening.

And don't worry, if you want my umbrella, just alert me ahead of time that you're a Yelper. I'm always obliged to help a fellow foodie.

But the band poster thing, yeah, that stays between you and I.

If you are in Seattle and are in the mood for NY style pizza, this is the place to get it. Independent shop feel and total casual place to go for some good food and a beer. It's simple pizza and simply delicious.

The staff aren't always the most pleasant, but I guess that is part of the charm that makes it Piecora's! I have tried a ton of their pizzas and have yet to be disappointed. Salads are simple and what you would expect anywhere you go....although, they don't make their own dressing so nothing special there.

Delivery can take awhile, so sometimes worth it to just go and pick it up!

We wound up going here before the Dungen Show At Chop Suey. Not bad. Once you step inside, you realize how huge this place is.

So...they have pizza by the pie, or by the custom slice, which is nice. We each got a slice, (Me anchovies, her... I now forget) and they gave us a free mistake topping slice.  We also got an order of meatballs, which were pretty great.

The pies and slices come in regular (New York Style) and think crust on demand.  So they got that going for them.

Also! Full bar!  We were fully stuffed and buzzed by the time Dungen hit the stage at like, 12:35.   I think we left after four songs.

So, hit this place up for a fine slice, and a drink before you do what you do so well.

This joint really makes me want to break my vegan edge. All I can really eat here is bread with oven-roasted garlic (still magnificent). Although I'm quite militant on my eating lifestyle, visiting this place is worth dining/hanging out only when Shane Anthony serves you and sits on your lap to spoon feed you.

What a dreamboat, dude.

Recap of your evening at Piecora's:

ME: I am going to order the spaghetti but I don't want the meatballs
HER: I will totally eat your meatballs baby!!!
ME: Oh really????!!?

So Piecora's is the kind of place where you can have your meaty meaty meatballs eaten by your loved ones. Score for me!!!!!!!!!

But seriously their marinara sauce is to die!! Because you could pretty much could coat a snickers bar in it and I will eat it. Yes it's that good!!! So if your down for some tasty grub and some good times(beer) then Piecora's just might be your place!! Cheers

I'm always wary when it comes to the New York-style pizza, because we live in Washington.  New York-style pizza seems like something you might want to get in, you know, New York.  But we were going to a show at Chop Suey and didn't want to go in early, so we crossed the street and hoped for the best.  And I think we found it.

We ended up getting a sausage and extra cheese pizza, because when trying out a new pizza joint, it's good to get something simple:  pepperoni, or a cheese pizza, or just one topping.  That way, you can really taste what's going on in their sauces and pizza dough.  My expectations were exceeded on all fronts.  I'm not a red sauce fan, but I didn't even blink at their sauce--it was dee-lish!  The dough/crust was dense while still being light, and I had 2.5 pieces and was done for the night.  Their pizzas are ginormous, and also very tasty.

A huge pizza (we took 4 slices home) and a pitcher cost us $34.  Which is the exact amount of the Pagliacci pizza we usually get--so I was also happy with the price!  We will definitely be going there anytime we hit up a show at Chop Suey, or have pizza fans that come in from out of town.  Can't go too much--I'll start looking like I'm going to give birth to a pizza baby.  No thanks.

Since this was my first visit, I'll amend this later after we go again.  But I really enjoyed the pizza here--I was a drooling hot mess when that sucker came out, believe me.  Try it!

A nice crispy crust, good sauce and toppings.  Can't say it was much like pizza I've had in New York, but it was good.

Yeah, A-OK sums it up. We go to Piecora's after every IHR show to unwind.
We always get the same waitress but the group seems to think she's different every time. Weird. Maybe different personalitites? I dunno, I like her.
Food is good. Biggest calzones I have ever seen and for dirt cheap ($8 bucks appx.).
Me and a friend get a slice with roasted garlic among other things. But that roasted garlic is amazing. Big hurkin' chunks of soft roasted garlic! MMMMMM!!!!!!!
We're always about 45 minutes too late for the lunch special and they won't budge on that. That kinda sucks.
But it's a good place and locals from the hill really seem to enjoy it.
Come join us some first Sunday around 5pm.

Have to write another update. I'm gonna git me some Piecora's tonight, my usual (Gerry's own, whoever Gerry is). But THIS is what I have to say.

Just who is the louse who designed their lousy website? I think the attractiveness is akin to placing a restaurant in the middle of a landfill. Wow. Wow, piecora's.....here's a piece of advice: fire one of the extra 20+ workers you always have standing around.....hell, fire a couple, and pay for a nice website. There, advice given!

I've had a few different kinds of pizza at Piecora's and I think the veggie was my favorite. I also went here once with a very large group and they were great about it and gave us the whole back room to ourselves.

I'm not sure I'll ever come back with the other pizza selections around. Maybe I'm not a huge fan of NYC style pizza? Piecora's just never make that much of a lasting impression on me but I still think it's pretty good.

Nothin says mediocre pizza served with an attittude like Piecoras. I thought maybe the tude was just the result of someone having a bad day...but when I tried to order again a month later (they wouldn't deliver to my former address) - same story. Crust tasted like it was previously frozen, sauce tasteless, the center of the pie dough-y and soggy. The delivery guy, however, was very nice.
