I went to Piece for the first time last night with a group of college friends.  The place was busy and loud, since it was a Friday night, so it was hard to have a conversation.  I didn't pick the location but I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The atmosphere was very fun and energetic.

Our group had 15 people.  We ordered 3 large pizzas (The White Cheese, The Margarita, and a 3 topping sausage, pepperoni, and green pepper).  I loved all three pizzas.  The ingredients tasted really fresh and the pizza crust was amazing.  I'm a thin crust guy and this is one of the best I've had.  The best is probably the crust I had in Rome (Italy).  The crust is thin but not super thin.  It was crispy, flaky, and complemented the pizza very well without dominating the toppings and sauce.

This is also a beer place as the other reviewers have noted.  I'm not a big beer fan but I did enjoy the Golden Arm beer.  It is a lot like Blue Moon which is one of the few beers I like.

Some reviewers have noted how the service was poor at times.  The waitress my party had was very attentive.  Drinks came quickly and she checked on us every 5 to 10 minutes.  No one was ever without an empty glass for very long.

I highly recommend this place if you like thin crust pizza in a deep dish pizza town.

I eat there all the time.  It's good pizza.  Allow 25 minutes for them to build your masterpiece.  But check your toppings.  Probably about 1 out of 3 times I get a wrong topping or they leave one off.

Went there for the first time and I was impressed with how sincere & friendly the staff is. Server/service great. Had the red single size pizza with spinach, goat cheese, & sauteed mushrooms. The pizza was topped with fresh ingredients though I wish crust was crispier. Maybe the toppings I choose made it rather soggy. Ice tea was terrible -tasted like instant. They need 2 get better ice tea. Split cheese cake with friend & it had a after taste that reminded me of diet soda. Would go again but I will make sure I am not driving so I can have a beer. Forget the cheesecake.

I'd agree that Piece certainly has some consistency issues... One out of every few pizzas I have here makes me say "I'm never having it again!" ... Then just when you're almost over it, you order it again... and it's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. ...  and that's what it was this weekend when we got it (pick up!).

It sounds like lunch delivery to your downtown office is a bad idea, even though they do it ($100 order minimum)...  Let's do some math here...  The pizza comes out of the oven, cools for 5-10 minutes, they cut and box it. Piece is in Wicker Park.  Wicker Park is a minimum 20 drive by highway to the loop, then there's a 10 minute drive to find your office, then there's a 10 minute ring a ling ding pizza is here, someone go down and get it, then there's a 5 minute signing of the receipts, then there's a "pizzas here!" lets wait for everyone...  So minimally 20 minutes later you're consuming the pizza...

So in other words, by the time you're putting the pizza into your mouth in your Loop high-rise office, chances are the pizza has been out of the oven for an hour and 15 minutes.    It isn't magic, it's pizza delivery.. So even though it's an option, it might not be an option that best represents what Piece can serve.

We ordered a medium this past weekend.  Red pizza.  Even though New Haven pizza is their style, they do a really amazing red pizza, and it's the one I'd recommend most (and actually, it's the one they recommend if you ask them for a recommendation).  It was $19 for a medium half pepperoni, half sausage (it's thin crust).

Their medium pizza seems A) a lot more expensive than I remember it and B) maybe a little larger than I remember it.

When you're ordering piece pizza, try not to do the "half this" "half that" thing...  Many places would only charge you for one topping if you get half pepperoni and half sausage or something, Piece charges you twice.

Also, their toppings menu is split into regular toppings and "premium" toppings.  For some reason, they've recently moved pepperoni and Italian sausage into the "premium" topping category, so they're $2/each.  I'm guessing they did this for no other reason than they're the most popular toppings... I doubt pepperoni prices have skyrocketed or anything.  Also, if you do 1/2 and 1/2, I think they charge you full price for both.  ...So their pricing can really be a sham sometimes... It sucks to walk out with a great pizza but pay $35 for it.

I agree with the previous reviews of this establishment that I have read.

The waitress was, uh, shall we say slow?  We didn't have their pizza.  One of my son's ordered the meatball sandwich.  (aside from the service he didn't complain).  My other son had Salad with chicken added.  He hated it.  Thought the lettuce was soggy, and the chicken had no discernable taste to it.  I ordered the Turkey sandwich.  I didn't think mine was esp bad.  But really, non-descript.

If you just want to go to a bar and watch a sporting event and drink beer.  This is a five star place.  (because by the end of the game, you won't give a care how the service was)

Today, my office ordered in from Piece Out for 'Bring Your Kid To Work' day. I have to say, this pizza is some of the worst stuff I've put in my mouth. That's saying a lot, but I won't go off on a tangent.

I sampled a slice each of: (1) plain cheese, (2) spinach, mushroom & cheese, (3) tomato & basil. Which varieties were edible? None of the above. The crust was soggy, yet strangely tough. The sauce was salty beyond belief and I'm not sure that the red colour came from actual tomatoes. As I type, my eyeballs are shrivelling as their moisture is being diverted to my parched mouth and throat. I've been told that the pizza is pretty good at the dine-in location so maybe this terrible quality has something to do with the fact that we had delivery. I will probably never know. For a memorable experience with salt, I'd rather go with a therapeutic soak in the Dead Sea.

It's mentioned in another review that this is New Haven style pizza. Well, I've had New Haven style pizza -- IN New Haven -- and loved it. This, this is something else.

On the bright side, the salt appears to have stunned the kids, who are now quiet as can be.

I got this as part of a office lunch, and it was um, shall we say, like shoveling gloop into your mouth. It was possibly the soggiest pizza i have ever eaten in my life. You could not even pick the piece of pizza up, cause as soon as you tried, it fell over and the cheese fell off of it. Even trying to fold it NY style and take a bite (i know, we don't do that in chicago, but i had no choice) didn't work. it still fell over!

Grease galore. I know its pizza, it's greasy, but sheesh.

If you could get past that, which, because it is pizza, i did, the actual taste of it wasn't bad. I had banana peppers, which I never had before on a pizza, quite tasty!. If i had a knife and fork it may have been more successful. I could have pretended it was a soggy calzone.

But, the dine in reviews are all great, so i'm going with Paul W's suggestion. Maybe the sog-fest was to be blamed on the take-out. But in my opinion, if you are gonna do take out, make sure your pizza is take-out-able.

ordered delivery when I had a bunch of folks over on a Saturday night. I didn't feel like calling so I used the on-line site and within 30 min I had two pretty hot pizza's at my door. Can't complain about the service although I agree wit the one review about pepperoni costing more than other toppings...really, I feel like that was a rip off but I can't NOT get the pepperoni. I would order again, the large pizza is huge, I have had leftover pizza for a week now.

I'm kind of surprised by some of the negative reviews, because my boyfriend and I love ordering from here.  It might make a difference that 1)we live really close, so our pizza is still hot when it's delivered, and 2) we usually order the white pizza, with fresh basil and tomatoes.

Now that I think about it, we've never ordered anything BUT the white pizza... and I don't think we will after reading the reviews.  The crust is the perfect balance between chewy and crispy.   It is thin though, so I can see why it wouldn't be so great with a lot of sauce and toppings on it.

We would probably order from here a lot more , except that it really is kind of expensive.  Last time we ordered a medium pizza and a Caesar salad, and it was almost 35 bucks... kind of pricey for pizza night for two people.

Enjoy the same great pizza and beer Piece servers for $25 on Sundays - 1 large pizza and a growler of beer to go. I haven't had experience with delivery, so I can't address the issues other reviewers mention, but if you're in the area on a Sunday and have the means to get it home, it should be mandatory.
