Literally just steps from my office, this place has never disappointed me, although I've had better pizza and I've had worse.
The place itself is actually pretty impressive if you plan to dine in (which I've never done). It's got nice booths and a big mural of Times Square and it's always clean. The service is OK, if not a tad distracted at times, but they're not late on getting my to go order out.
The lunch special is perfect for when I'm starving and not wanting to make a major financial commitment to lunch (this is West Campus after all). You get two slices of pizza, or if I'm feeling mildly healthy I do the one slice/one salad option. If you plan to go here often, ask for a punch card so you can eventually get a free slice.
I'm not sure if they're still running the lunch special, but even if not, slices are only $1.50. You really can't lose. -

"I really don't want to wait 45 minutes to eat Pluckers and then have to listen to a loud Rick Barnes talk over me while I do it."
Me and my friend went to Pluckers the other night on West Campus to grab some wings. When we arrived we realized that it was the night that Rick Barnes does his live radio interview from the restaurant. Because of the coach's presence, the wait at the restaurant was going to be abnormally long.
We decided to stroll over to Pie Guys Pizza next door and give it a try. We were extremely pleased with our decision. For me, the best part about a pizza is the crust. These guys knock that out of the park. It's definitely a little chewy and a little crispy. The toppings rock as well. They were all really fresh and baked just right.
I really like the interior of the place. It has a modern but relaxed feel about it. It seems that they're having a little trouble getting the foot traffic that they'd like, but I think that's mainly a product of being a new restaurant. With time I'm sure they'll increase and business will do well. They have too good of a product not to.
If you're on the west side of campus and are looking for cheap beer and good food you might want to give this place a try while its still not overcrowded. I'm sure with time it'll get busy as hell like Cain's and Pluckers once people realize how good the food is. -

Another 5 star visit at Pie Guys this week, I just love this place. How could you not love $1.50 slices of their NY style pizza on Tuesdays? You can choose from cheese (yum), pepperoni (yummy), or the awesome Margarita (yummiest) which consists of olive oil, provolone cheese, roma tomatoes, chopped garlic and fresh basil. It's honestly a great piece of pizza heaven. Two slices for dinner and you're set, and you can't beat that $3 price tag!
I spoke to the cook, he said they will start a pizza delivery special soon for the summer to spruce up business that will likely go through until the end of July - 2 mediums for around $11. I'm game, but to be honest, this is a cool place to hang out with friends and chill. They've got games, a pool table, 6 plasma TVs, and free wi-fi. I think we need to hold a Yelp party here this summer, they serve beer and have liquor too.
Give these guys a try, you won't be disappointed - the meatball sub is awesome and that Margarita pizza is excellent!Listed in: My Best Pizza Experiences

Super duper tasty pizza at this spot, I gotta say. The interior is kinda cool, the location is great if you are a central or east side kinda guy like me. They have recently begun delivery, but sadly the area is limited. That seems to be the case with most of these places though, so no worries really.
The key to great pizza, and the basis for the stars on this guy, is the crust. The pie I have had has a great crust that is buttery and delicious, and somewhere in between thick and thin, a bit unique. However, it does not hold up to reheating. You pretty much have to eat these pies right out of the oven, otherwise it takes on the consistency of Pizza-jerky. Everyone loves cold pizza for breakfast, but this stuff risks losing some teeth when it's cold. So, 50/50 is my opinion.Listed in: Tres Chiq

I had to duck in to pie guys when it started raining on me outside today. It was freezing so I was glad to find warm shelter, and the pizza was a plus.
I've seen this restaurant for awhile now, and in West Campus it's convenient and close to where I live. pedo-friendly. That's pedestrian friendly. The waitstaff was really polite and nice, smiles all around. I like that- even if you go in by yourself they don't make you feel weird just sitting there o.O
The lunch special is cheap for the size and quality. 2 large slices and a drink for 5$. Or, a slice and a salad and a drink for 5$. The pizza was excellent- kind of thin, with crust that isnt doughy but isn't really crispy either. I had margarita slices to observe lent and avoid eating meat. Amen.
Pie Guys: Great pizza, Great service, Good lunch special. I'll go back another time and try some of their meat pizzas. -

Mediocre at best.
First of all, the service is horrible. My waitress sat with her back to the door & watched her boyfriend eat the whole time I was there.
They are now charging for to go. Their to go consists of a paper plate for your slice and then they put it in a paper bag. Wow.
My salad was crammed into a small bowl and it had slices of bread on top of it. How was I supposed to eat it?
Their slices are big, but nothing special.
Also, the waitress told me she couldn't do split checks when I asked for the bill. Really? I have gotten split checks there in the past. Perhaps she didn't want to have to reprint the check?
I hope this place gets it's stuff together! It has a great location and lots of potential, however I won't be back anytime soon to find out. -

I chose to call in an order here on a quiet Sunday night after reading some of the reviews. I checked out their website and was impressed with the speciality pizza options, the drink/lunch specials and the site overall.
When I got to Pie Guys to pick up my pie, the cashier could barely be bothered to interrupt her conversation to help me out and there were maybe 3 or 4 people total in the spot. When I asked her if they had pepperoncini her puzzled look quickly told me they didn't but she did offer that they had green bell peppers. Not a deal breaker, but not a great sign for an authentic pizza experience either.
The pizza was...meh. Nothing great, nothing terrible. Though it did improve quite a bit after getting reheated in my own oven for about 20 minutes.
All in all...not worth going out of my way for as a pick-up but may try it out in person on pint nite.Comment from Melissa S. of Pie Guys Pizza 8/6/2009

It's okay pizza. I think it was better when it first opened. Kinda hit or miss. Sometimes burnt, sometimes underdone. It's aight.

The set-up is pretty trendy. Pizza is okay, I supposeee. Crust is really doughy, not airy or crisp at all. The cheese/toppings arent bad, but the pizza is just hard to eat. Shouldn't be marketed as new york style pizza.

Pie Guys make some pretty good New York-styled pizzas. I loved their Darlena's Margarita pizza, which composed of provolone cheese, Roma tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and awesome basil. The aroma is mesmerizing and the taste is even better. All the ingredients just blend so well together, especially the olive oil and basil. I did not particularly enjoy the meat lover's, however. I'm not sure why, probably because it was so meaty. It's too unoriginal. The price is a little steep; but Pie Guys is definitely one of the better pizzerias around the UT campus.

I suppose in the hellhole that is the heart of West Campus, pizza this awful has its niche, but unless you find yourself stumbling out of a drunken frat party, don't bother going out of your way for this cardboard pizza.

Great place! The pizza is delicious, and the atmosphere is even better. Great, cheap drinks. I think I found my new hang out spot. Park in the garage next to it between Pluckers and Pie Guys, they will validate your parking, which is AWESOME in West Campus.
