4 reviews for Piazza's Wine Bar
I've been to the Wine Bar many a time with my parents and their friends. Although I don't think I've ever purchased my own food or drink here, I know it's rather pricy. It's also a pretty small place, which is great for the intimacy and not so great for, oh, fitting lots of people inside.
My first experience with the Wine Bar was actually eating a catered meal. Long story short, we had a meal catered by Piazza's (which we only ever refer to as "the Wine Bar") for Christmas one year and it was quite good - fettucini alfredo, chicken, and I can't recall what else. Since then, I've tasted a few of Tracey's dishes - the hummus & pita they serve is to die for, and the bruschetta is pretty amazing as well. I most recently went to the Wine Bar for a private party, and unfortunately the pasta they served was way too spicy for me to handle, but I could tell it would be good if I liked spiciness.
It seems to be the hangout for the swanky fortysomethings of Mukilteo, but I've seen some younger people and no one has ever looked at me strangely for being so young. Sometimes there is live music, sometimes there isn't. I also find the bathroom situation a little strange - you have to go through the kitchen to use the restroom - but aside from that, it's not a bad little place.
My chef friend had been wanting me to try this place for awhile, so we had a great idea, we would park at Piazza's, walk the 4 mile Harbor Point loop and then settle back in for some good food and wine on their half price pour night (I'm not telling you which night that is, it was already crowded)!
Let me just get this out of the way, and say our waiter was so cute, not in an adorable way, but in a hot way.
So two of my friends ordered the Tenderloin Crostini and Beef Tenderloin with Mashed Potatoes and me and the chef ordered the antipasto plate and calamari and tenderloin crostini. You could cut the tenderloin with a fork, it was excellent. And the calamari was really good - it was spicy though so if you can't take the heat...
The antipasto plate was weird, a lot of the stuff on it had been pickled, which apparently is the new trend. I couldn't eat it, so my friend said, let's send it back!!!! Hold the phone, this is not something I normally do and I was scared - she said the chef will probably hate us. I was more afraid someone was going to spit in our food! I guess I should stop frequenting cheap food joints. Anyway, there didn't appear to be any problems and the cute waiter was really gracious and great at deflecting any anger spewing from the chef.
Needless to say, we have decided to make this our...oops, I almost said what night, our weekly ritual to go on half price pour night. Really great if you are new to wine and want to try a lot of different types.
P.S. We really were underdressed in our sweats....

Sandwiched in between a Hallmark store and Taco Del Mar, Piazza's Wine Bar transcends its inferior surroundings to evoke the relaxed, sophisicated feel of an authentic vineyard. This place is classy enough to go with your parents (or a date) and sample wines from around the world, as well as some tastefully displayed dishes. The portions are small, but it's perfect for a light, leisurely meal. The regular weekend crowd are local forty-somethings but there are younger, hipper couples in the bar as well. Its intimate environment is a double-edged sword - on the one hand its a nice spot for a low-key evening but it also fills up early.
This is one of my favoriate places. I am not a huge wine drinker, but they are great at recommending a good wine with your meal. I had Chicken Marsala and it was fabulous. Excellent flavor, great presentation and a reasonable price. I didn't think that the portions were that small and was very satisfied when I left. (maybe that was the wine) On Tuesday's they showcase some wines and offer them for half price which is a great way to try new wines. It is very small and doesn't seat very many people, but good atmosphere and great waitstaff.
