I LOVE Piatti!!!! This place is such a cozy little gem in Montecito!! I absolutely cannot get enough of their delicious freshly baked bread dipped in balsamic and olive oil with freshly chopped garlic! Mmmm makes me hungry right now! Everything we have ordered here so far has been delicious! Definitely, definitely go here if you're in the mood for a yummy Italian meal! Check out the photos I uploaded! :)
Tip #1: Their food tends to be pretty rich, so be prepared to become realllly full after your meal. Go here hungry...
Tip #2: Try their "Piatti" label wine (choose from Pinot, Merlot, or Cab. There might be other varietals too...can't remember right now!). Only $6.50 a glass and it's actually pretty good! Both the Pinot and Merlot are light to medium bodied and go down smooth. I'm a fan! -

We came to eat at Piatti because my baby's coworker raved about this place. It is visually very charming in Montecito, however the food was not. I had the pollo parmigiana. The cherry tomato salad was delicious atop of the chicken parm, but the chicken was just ok. Beto had tagiatelle with meat sauce and added meatballs. The sauce had a weird after taste and the meatballs were undescribeable....not in a good way. Moral of the story....don't listen to coworkers.

We had a great time at Piatti for my friend rehearsal dinner. They gave us the back patio area which was a fresh of breath air on a summer night. The menu consisted of many options but I had the BARBABIETOLA beet salad, the SALMONE or salmon in English :) and the Bread Pudding. I have to say that everything I tried was above expectations. The bread pudding in particular melts in your mouth and leaves you satisfied. I took one star off because i heard from the person who organized the dinner that she had a bit of an issue finalizing the details due to misorganization on the restaurants behalf. Other than that, I loved it!

I am 1/2 Italian, just wanted to start with that....
Piatti is third of the four Italian restaurants I will visit and recommend to those visiting my hometown of Santa Barbara.
This one is a bit more secluded and a little more expensive that my other 3 favorite Italian restaurants, but worth it, as their menu is creative and the food is divine.
I have my favorites, but also will try the daily specials. Desserts are wonderful as always, life is short, we must allow ourselves a sweet at times. Linger a while, have a nice wine, while you enjoy this savory restaurant experience.
As I mentioned, I am 1/2 Italian, I feel at home in this restaurant and never felt rushed in the least. We have went to Piatti with family & friends, and always feel that is was an enjoyable visit.
Buon Appetito!!! -

I am a fan of the various Piatti restaurants in California and this location did not disappoint.
We came in on the evening of July 4th and were seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't too busy which was great. I was expecting large crowds given the holiday. It was nice to come here instead of venturing somewhere on State St.
I had the cobb salad to start and then the chicken and proscuitto meatball pasta for dinner. Both had great flavor and hit the spot.
This is a place I will definitely come back to. -

Always a safe bet for a great meal.
The restaurant is very cozy with a very pleasant staff.
The food is always good. Try the specials...always exciting! From the starters to dessert, you will always leave full and satisfied.
Usually open late too! -

This place was just okay. We stopped by because it was close to our sightseeing/touring destinations, and because we were absolutely famished. It was pleasant enough, but the service was slow and sort of ditzy.
The wait staff are made up of mostly college students (I'm guessing), and they aren't the most attentive or knowledgable servers I've ever encountered.
Other than that, the food was decent. I tried the Mezzaluna (ravioli with butternut squash) and the molten chocolate cake. Both were delicious.
I'd go back if circumstances were right, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to dine there, especially with all the other fabulous establishments in the Santa Barbara area.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Diamond Bar, CA
I came here for dinner on Sat evening with 3 of my girlfriends .. What a disappointment!! I order the Risotto Del Giorno (seasonal risotto of the day) and it was bland! Supposedly it had prosciutto and other veggies in it but i felt like i was eating plain rice. However my other gf order the Mezzaluna and that was pretty tasty .. But still, I was not impressed.
The service was a nightmare. The waitress we had was terrible. It seemed like she didn't want to wait on us! She was rude, had a bad attitude, and had no idea what she was talking about.. If you are a waitress and pple ask questions about the menu ... DON'T BS THEM!! better yet say your not sure and you will ask someone who is more knowledgeable! ehhhh!!!!Listed in: Sunny Santa Barbara

It's a little out of the way and unsuspecting from the outside. But the food here is phenomenal. We've been to Piatti's in Yountville, San Jose and Thousand Oaks and we've NEVER been even remotely disappointed.
Excellent food. Do yourself a favor and make the trip. -

This establishment has fantastic service, incredible food, and great atmosphere - all tucked away in a small shopping center in the hills of Montecito.
Very busy for a Sunday evening; however, the wonderful manager, Sarah, seated us at the most romantic table in the whole restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace, candles, and space heaters on the nearly fully-enclosed dining patio. Sarah made us feel like she was welcoming us into her home for a meal.
Our server, Amy, was also gracious and took her time to explain menu items and make stellar recommendations. The other support staff were also fantastic, attentive, yet unobtrusive as plates were removed promptly and water glasses never were left less than half empty...or is it half full?!
As if the exquisite service were not enough, the food was amazing! I enjoyed the fish and my date had the seafood salad (she said it was one of the best she's ever had!). The warm chocolate cake w/vanilla gelato was absolutely one of the best desserts I've ever had at a restaurant...oh yeah, the Margherita pizza made for a perfect appetizer!
To top it off, Sarah mentioned we should not miss the butterflies at a nearby sanctuary, and it was really an amazing way to cap off our weekend stay in Santa Barbara.
I can't recommend this establishment enough... -

This place is amazing. Great romantic spot for dates. Came into town for the weekend and had the Pappardelle pasta. It had shrimp, tomatoes, calabria chili, and arugula all nestled into a saffron brodo. SO scrumptious I can still taste it when I think about it now.
My boyfriend had the lasagna and this isn't your typical lasagna. It had braised shoulder meat that was fall off the bone tender with hearty cheeses.
They sat us in the patio near the fireplace, which was kind of nice and secluded if that's what you're going for. The waiter was very attentive and informative when we asked him questions about the restaurant's story and menu items. I would certainly go back again and recommend this place to all who are foodies. -

This was just OK. My orechietti had yummy artichoke hearts in it, but other than that, it was a bit bland. BF ordered the bolognese which I think is a much better choice.
Our waiter was very sweet though. Vibe was strip mall utilitarian, but it was Montecito so sitting outside (even in a strip mall) is still pretty beautiful. I think there are probably much better places to eat in Montecito. -

Love this location, we have one in La Jolla as well but the ambiance at this one is completely different. It's soo quaint and romantic. My husband's sister and brother-in-law arranged for us to have dinner here as an Anniversary gift and the food did not disappoint. I had the white bean appetizer with shrimp and it was delicious!
But...the waiter was sorta tricky with our ordering so our bill ended up being quite a bit more than anticipated. What with us not paying it turned a special night into an uncomfortable situation; the restaurant hostess refused to take our money insisting our other party was paying for all of it and then we looked like we were taking advantage a gracious gesture. My husband was miffed. Awkward! -

Wonderful staff, great food. Our little ones (4 and 6) loved the pizza. We went for lunch on a Sunday after church and it is a place we would love to go again soon'

disclaimer: this was my first time eating at piatti, so i may update this review after my next visit.
my hubby and i ordered the following items:
1) formaggio salad - it was yummy and big enough to split. the gorgonzola was not overpowering and blended well with the dressing, candied walnuts (yum!) and apples.
2) gnocchi w/tomato sauce & sausage - i ordered the half size, and it was quite filling with great flavor. however, i wasn't expecting it to be spicy.
3) prosciutto sandwich - there was more goat cheese than prosciutto. my hubby had a hard time eating it because the sandwich was pretty messy. whenever he took a bite, the sandwich fillings would fall out. while he said it was tasty, he probably would not order it again.
overall, a good dining experience and the food was good. we came in for a late lunch and it wasn't too busy. the staff was friendly but not very attentive.
UPDATE: Went back to Piatti's soon after my original review for dinner. I had the ravioli, and my hubby had the rope pasta dish. both of our dishes were delicious...a much better experience than our first visit! Changing my rating from 3 stars to 4. -

i have to say, I had a great experience here.
The food was good and the service was great, I'm looking forward to coming back. It was a while ago that I came to dinner here, I was in the area celebrating my fiancé's birthday, and I asked for a recommendation and tried this place out.
The price wasn't too high, and the food was wonderful. I wish it had been a bit quieter, though. -

I had the veal and my date had the seared duck risotto. I must say the risotto is phenomenal! our waiter was a little 'slow' but manageable. I think the same owner's own the location in San Diego. Nice location and delicious food as always. Great place to take clients or a date.

Santa Barbara, CA
This restaurant has a very charming setting. There is outdoor dining next to a creek and a covered patio area with a fireplace. Very charming and romantic. We haven't dined there for years, but have dined at the Piatti in Mill Valley and it was good. This restaurant is actually in our neighborhood and very convenient. We brought guests from Santa Fe, thinking this would be up to Santa Fe standards. The Carpaccio appetizer was mostly lettuce. It probably should have been described as a salad. The semolina fried Calamari was a little soggy, obviously the oil wasn't hot enough. Two of us had the Tagliatelle which could have been quite good. The flavors were there, but the pasta was way over cooked. We ordered the Polpettone and it tasted just like the pasta! We also ordered the Funghi pizza and that too was disappointing; way too much sauce and cheese, but the crust was good. The menu was quite different from the menu at Piatti in Mill Valley. It seems like the Mill Valley restaurant is always packed; when we arrived at Piatti, Montecito for our 7:30 reservations the restaurant was about 25% full and when we left I think there were even fewer. Our waitress was quite nice and attentive. Maybe it was just an "off" night.

My husband and I visited on a Friday evening. We were seated in the covered patio area which was very cozy. I have to say that the service was very attentive, and!!!! they had zucchini flowers as a special, which I had and enjoyed thoroughly. My new favorite pasta to order is orrechiette, which I had here, and found very tasty and interesting with its addition of small bits of roasted chicken and spinach, instead of the the usual sausage. The bar area was filled with people from the neighborhood. I found it to be a fun and entertaining place, and will revisit next time I'm in the neighborhood.

I was starving after finishing a weekend workshop at the Montecito Campus of Brooks Institute. I decided to find something to eat before driving back to LA.
I was planning to check out Pane E Vino but I couldn't find the restaurant. I only had 45 mins for dinner before hitting the road again so I just went to the conveniently located Piatti.
They were having Heirloom Tomatoes Celebration that week with a special menu featuring the delicious Heirloom Tomatoes of the season. Everything looked so good (from cocktail to dessert) but I decided to try something else since I had Burrata with Heirloom Tomatoes twice every week this month already.
I picked something light but comforting from their 20th Anniversary 3 -course menu: Mista Insalata, Gnocchi with Chicken Ragu with Spinach, and Tiramisu for dessert. The food was standard but delicious in general. I ordered a cup of regular coffee for my Tiramisu. I totally regretted that... I should have ordered espresso or cappuccino. The coffee tasted like overnight coffee somehow. It was very bad.
Piatti is prefect for casual family dinner or gathering with friends. Other than the coffee, the food was pretty standard and the service was good. But I am sure there are better places to eat in Montecito. -

What's with all the mediocre reviews of this place? I find Piatti to be a cute, delicious little italian restaurant in beautiful Montecito. Whenever I come to Santa Barbara I always stop in to eat here. They have great pastas and pizzas, my favorites being the Ravioli, Gnocchi, Coda Di Manzo. My favorite pizzas are the Margherita, Bianca, and Funghi. I highly recommend Piatti for a nice dinner out with friends or family. The food is super tasty, the staff couldn't be friendlier, and the decor is beautiful Santa Barbara chic.

Santa Barbara, CA
My wife & I have tried every Italian place in SB & Montecito. Piatti is our go-to. The pasta dishes are fantastic. They always have a couple of specials and a creative soup each night. The place can be a little cold and loud, try sitting in the bar area or outside if warm enough. You won't be disappointed, we never are. Be warned that the dishes with prosciutto and pancetta can be on the salty side.

Was contacted back by the manager who apologized for the service. I would think she could not have been there otherwise she either saw the highly loose dress code or there is no dress code...maybe that is part of their decided direction and if it works for them who am I to comment on. As for the food maybe it was just an off night..if your thinking of going it is certainly your choice. Perhaps the manager could simply place her own thoughts here as I am reluctant to not be annoymous

The food was bland, underwhelming and overpriced for what you get. The service was so-so. There are many better dining options in Montecito
